Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Specs, Features, Release date and price
Galaxy S7 is the upcoming smart phone from Samsung and Galaxy S7 Edge is the curved variant of the forthcoming flagship. Many new rumours and reliable reports appears every day about the upcoming Galaxy S7 flagship. Now we are going to roundup the most reliable of them.
Samsung Galaxy S6 flagship was launched back in March and released into the Global market in April with a price tag around $800. That flagship achieved a great success in the South Korean tech giant's history and also made a big step towards the use of powerful Chipsets and Most advanced technology in phones. Now Samsung is going to announce the next phablet in Galaxy Note series under the name Galaxy Note 5 in August ahead of IFA 2015 in September. This phablet also borrowed many specs and design from the most successful Galaxy S6 flagship. The Galaxy S7 is the successor of Galaxy S6 and is also going to bring a revolution in smartphones with its exclusive specs and features.
According to most reliable sources, Samsung is going to release the next flagship in Galaxy S series with 5.2 inches display. The predecessors of Galaxy S7 featured with 5.1 inches display and so that in the next flagship, Samsung may increase the screen size by one inch. Samsung is also going to reduce the side bezel size in Galaxy S7. So we will see almost bezel less Galaxy S7 in coming months. By reducing the bezel size, Samsung ultimately increases the screen to body ratio. Galaxy S5 features 69% screen to body ratio and Galaxy S6 features 71% screen to body ratio. So that the next flagship may feature screen to body ratio upto 75% because of the reduction in bezel size. Some rumours also claim that Samsung is going to make Galaxy S7 with flexible body and screen. If that really true, then we will see the S7 flagship with flexible body like LG G Flex. According to insider reports, Samsung already started working on Flexible displays.
Galaxy S7 Edge is the curved variant of Galaxy S7 and features two curvy edges like Galaxy S6 Edge. The dual curvy edged Galaxy S7 Edge offers special functions on both edges like pinning apps, contracts and other. The S7 Edge also features 5.2 inches display like Galaxy S7.
The Galaxy S5 was released in MWC 2014 with 1080p resolution and Galaxy S6 announced this year MWC in March with 2K or QHD resolution. The successor of Galaxy S6 may feature Super AMOLED Display with 4K resolution. As Samsung already going to release smartphones with 11K resolution in 2018, it is obvious that we see the Galaxy S7 flagship coming in 2016 with 4K resolution. The UltraHD resolution of 4096 x 2160 is a very impressive feature of Galaxy S7. So we will the forthcoming flagship with the pixel density about 890 ppi. The Galaxy S7 Edge flagship also features the same UltraHD resolution for its curvy edge screen.
Galaxy S6 is powered by Exynos 7420 Chipset which has brought a revolution in chipset with its 64-bit support and amazing benchmark score. It is an Octa Core Processor, four cores clocked at 1.6 Ghz and the remaining four cores clocked 2.0 Ghz. Till now it is the fastest SoC for Android phones and no other chipset can beat it in the near future. The upcoming Note 5 phablet also going to be powered by Exynos 7422 chipset which is the all in one solution for Ram, Chipset, Internal memory and Modem also. So the next Galaxy S flagship from Samsung also will be powered by another remarkable chipset like Exynos 7420 and 7422.
Samsung has been building custom Mongoose cores for about an year. Another side ARM already announced Cortex A-72 cores clocked at 2.5 Ghz. So Samsung may use any one of the above cores for its next Exynos chipset which will be used for Galaxy S7. So the upcoming Galaxy S flagship will be powered by an Octa core, 64-bit processor clocked at 2.5 or 3.0 Ghz. The chipset will be based on 14nm FinFET process like Exynos 7420 and consumes less power also. The full details about this SoC will be revealed in coming months. Galaxy S7 Edge also will be powered by the same chipset of Galaxy S7.
Previously Samsung used 2GB Ram for Galaxy S5 and 3GB Ram for Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge devices. The upcoming Galaxy Note 5 flagship is coming with 4GB Ram for first time from Samsung. By increasing Ram along with Processor cores and Clockspeed the speed and multitasking capability of the device increases enormously. According to present expectations, the Galaxy S7 flagship will boast 4GB or 5GB Ram. With this great amount of Ram coupled with the best processor, the next flagship from Samsung tops the score in benchmarks like Geekbench and Antutu.
In Galaxy S5 which was released in 2014, the South Korean giant used 16 MP Rear camera and 2MP Front facing camera. Surprisingly, in Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge also Samsung used the same 16MP Rear camera with some enhancements to the picture quality and speed. But the South Korean tech giant used 5MP front camera in Galaxy S6 to make selfies and video calling better. Till now, Apple iPhone camera is only the best in smartphone cameras. But the quality of the camera of Galaxy S6 is also similar to the camera of iPhone. As Samsung didn't increase the resolution of Camera in Galaxy S6, it will definitely raise the resolution of the camera of the next Galaxy S flagship. Current rumours and reports are saying that Samsung will use 30MP rear Camera with Optical image stabilization, HDR and other features in Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. The front camera resolution also may be increased to 8MP in the upcoming flagship. With this great front camera resolution Galaxy S7 may become the best selfie phone in future. Currently only a few phones are available with 8MP and above front camera resolution.
$800 for this handset? pretty expensive. But nice features, i admit
$800 for this handset?
$800 for this handset?
Seeing as the human eye will struggle to see any difference past 8k, I am very curious as to where you're getting your information from so as to make a statement like "As Samsung already are going to release smartphones with 11k resolution in 2018"

What do you say? Everything looks just right, specswise Note II looks like a higher clocked and bigger S3, just like it was with the Note and S2. But the resolution could never be that, right?

Considering the rumored increase in screen size to 5.5" and keeping the same form factor, the only way to achive that is to go for a 16:9 aspect ratio, compared to the current 16:10 screen. With that comes the "downgrade" from 800 pixels to 720 pixels.
The physical width of the screen will thus probably stay the same, maybe a bit wider, but the height will get a nice boost.
Hm, calculating the width and height, something doesn't seem right.
5.3" Note (16:10)
Screen area: 12.62"
Height: 4.49" (11.42 cm)
Width: 2.81" (7.13 cm)
Rumored 5.5" Note 2 (16:9)
Screen area: 12.92
Height: 4.8" (12.18 cm) (a bit taller)
Width: 2.69" (6.84 cm) (SLIMMER!)
If they go with a 16:9 screen and if they decide to keep the form factor the same, they could go for a screen display of at least 5.7" and still keep the casing the same.
If they however stick with a 5.5" screen size, 16:9 ratio and a reduced bazel, the note will get a almost 0.5cm slimmer
Well that settles it. I was hoping the Note II would have A15 architecture but instead it's just a larger SIII. I will wait til the Note III. I don't see the Exynos 4412 as worthy of upgrading to.

It's unfortunate. I'm sure responsiveness will be a big increase as the quad core chip set will be better able to pump out all these pixels and the GPU will be an upgrade, too. But still..

Always been bad at maths so it took me a while to get it but yeah I would love a slimmer and a bigger note II with the same 16:9 ratio..

16:9, mali-400 again, ¿ram?
if these are final specs, then go fcuk yourself samsung, I'll wait to Note 3 or the rumored bigger htc
16:9 would be a lot better.
I liked my AT&T Note, but it was too wide and the chipset wasn't powerful enough
Hope the resolution stays the same or higher. Web browsing is a lot easier with more vertical res. (phone horizontally obviously).
Don't have the current Note (have the original Galaxy S!), but will probably get the Note 2 when it is out. Perfect compromise between phone and tablet if you want both in one device IMO.

Some leaks online, looks like the NOTE 2 will be:
- officially revealed in 15th August
- available (international) in September-October period
- codename GT-N7100
- Android 4.0.4 with TouchWizz 5
- Have the same SoC as the SGS3 (Exynos 4412)
- Slightly overclocked cpu (1.6GHz) and gpu (Mali-400)
- Larger 2GB RAM
- Super Amoled Plus tech (not PenTile)
- 1280 x 720 resolution
- On-screen Navigation Buttons
- Slightly larger 5.5inch display
- Slightly Wider, Thinner, about the same Height.
- 12MP camera
- NFC
- Possibly bigger battery (between 2500 and 3200mAh)
... it's more like a NOTE1.5 or SGS 3.5 than anything else. I think its safe to "pass" on this, if you have the original NOTE.
This revelation isn't a shock to me, but a big disappointment since I was hoping for a genuine NOTE 2:

If its gonna be quad core then I think it would most definitely have just a single GB of RAM. There won't be any on screen buttons, it would also be "designed for humans" like GSIII. Camera might just be 8MP with the same tech as SGIII. I rather think the screen would be pentile (galaxy nexus and GSIII both have pentile displays). Might be 4.0.4 but I would think they might even launch it with JB now that JB is officialy out.
To summarize, its gonna be a bigger S3.

I enjoy my note.
But with those specs, I 'd rather go the Gnex + Nexus7 route. Google experience devices are a win win situation for anyone that doesn't need to be on the bleeding edge.
The only deciding factor for me would be slightly bigger screen size. And if it goes with 16:9 ratio with 5.5", it doesn't increase acutal screen area. So not much interested. Will wait for GSNote 3.
Come on guys, quad core and NFC alone is worth the upgrade!!
Sad... i dont like those specs ..

NOTE 2
NOTE 2!!!!!!!!!!
If you watch videos during long train, subway rides regularly, playing video will even be a major leap, than a minor one.
Because of the Galaxy Note 1's 16:10 resolution, if you prefer video to be uncropped, you only used 4.77" of Galaxy Note 1's 5.3" screen when playing a 16:9 resolution video. Pretty much all TV shows and movies are encoded in this resolution today.
However, on the Galaxy Note 2, you will be using all 5.5" to play 16:9 video.
That is 0.73" gained diagonally when playing video. Very significant. But again, only if you don't like cropping to fill the Galaxy Note 1 screen. I personally hate cropping and have never cropped a video on my free will in my life so this is a big deal.

This is for the International version right? I really hope all versions have 1700 mHz support. Or that T-mobile has its 1900 mHz network up by the time I get this phone (if I ever do).
The Note 2 also has a backlit sensor like the GS3 but unlike the first Note.
Given the similarities with the GS3, it seems likely the Note 2 comes with the Wolfson DAC but I haven't seen any confirmation of this.
I can count a total of 10 improvements (11 if you are interested in the 64GB model):
Edit: Supercurio has confirmed the Wolfson DAC which makes it the 11th hardware improvement on each Note 2.
1. Quadcore
2. More RAM
3. Bigger battery
4. Improved Spen
5. Gorilla Glass 2
6. NFC
7. RGB pixel arrangement
8. Notification light
9. Bluetooth 4
10 Backlit sensor
11 Wolfson DAC
Overall I think it's an impressive upgrade and I am not sure why some people were unhappy. I think there was some disappointment with the reduced resolution but it's just a 7% reduction in DPI and is more than compensated by the newer pixel arrangement. And we haven't even mentioned all the software goodies.

I have seen it called RGB although an unusual variant. After all, there is a red, green and blue sub-pixel in every pixel.

There's no reason not to call it RGB since each white pixel has an R, G, and B subpixel.

Another expectation for MWC 2015 is the Samsung device who makes furors on the internet with many 3D concepts and articles, Samsung Galaxy S6. Galaxy S6 rumors are that will feature a flexible display more exactly will be like the Galaxy Note EDGE, with an EDGE side or both EDGE sides which could be difficult to protect from scratches. The EDGE Samsung display is designed to read notifications and information like weather or other small device updates. Galaxy S6 seems to ditch the Qualcomm Snapdragon processors for its Exynos 7420 chipset, a chipset which is designed for computation performance but with a low graphic performance compared to Qualcomm chipsets. Galaxy S6 will have a metal casing covered with glass at the back and front. The Flexible display will be an AMOLED or SUPER-AMOLED flexible plastic substrate.

None of this low graphics performance compared to Qualcomm chipsets is true. You see Samsung is ditching the 810 because Samsung can make something better themselves. The GPU they will use in the 7420 is probably the Mali t760MP8, it has been used in the Note 4 in MP6 config and already shown capable of alot. The MP8 config however already boosts the performance by 33% compared to MP6, if samsung decides it still needs more performance they can increase the clockspeeds. In the Note 4 the MP6 run at 700mhz, if Samsung clocks the MP8 at 800mhz the boost in performance will be huge compared to the Note 4. Thanks to the 14nm process the 7420 is made on both of these upgrades would not let the GPU use much more power than it did in the Note 4.
Then there is an orther point: Gameplay performance. This is where the Qualcomm's adreno's usually perform slower than ARM's Mali GPU's this is because of the better optimization for ARM GPU's.

I was looking forward to the 810 in the s6, but after seeing all the reviews of the lggflex2 and how it throttles under normal use, im glad Samsung ditched qualcomm, and I used to be a qualcomm fanboy. They clearly don't have the heat issues worked out yet, and it's a hardware issue not a software.. No update is going to Just magically solve heat issues like it has. I'm glad they went this route. Should make for a beast

Buying galaxy s4 in 2015
S4 is still an amazing device when s4 was released it was 42,000rs in india and in 2015 it is 17,800rs which is same as price for galaxy e5
Which phone should i go galaxy s4 or galaxy e5
Things for which i use phone:
Calling
Photography
Gaming a bit
Performance
And main is moding, rooting and flashing roms
From what I can see. the S4 has better specs. The E5 only offers a 1.2 quad-core and 1.5 GB ram. Unless the E5 has newer technology (which would give it an advantage), the S4 is better.
I also think that the S4 has more support in terms of modding, rooting and flashing stuff.
Just make sure to get the GT-I9505 if possible. It seems to be more active than the GT-I9500
Hmm...I thought he posted a typo there and was asking about the S4 vs the S5. Comparing the E5 to the S4, here's what you'd be giving up. The E5 does not have LTE, being limited to HSPA+. The screen resolution and density are lower than the S4 (720x1280, 294ppi vs 1080x1920, 441dpi). Each device has a quad-core CPU, but each core of the E5 is slower than the S4 (1.2GHz vs 1.9GHz). Internal storage is the same, but RAM is only 1.5GB, versus the 2.0GB in the S4. The E5 camera is an 8MP shooter while the S4 has 13MP. However, this isn't necessarily a bad thing, as the E5 should actually take better pictures in lower light situations.
The S4 is the clear winner in every category. Even against the S5 it still holds its own. While the S5 does have a faster processor, slightly larger screen, and a beefier camera, the improvements are not significant enough to compel S4 owners to upgrade. People who never had a S4 however would benefit, or they can wait for the S6, which should become available in a couple months or so.
s4 still a beast at 2 years of age!
Yes the battery life is very dull on 3hours screen time
But style is like boss my friends boxy phones likke mi4,grandprime,grand2
S4 looks better
Gizmag compares the features and specs of the Samsung Galaxy S6 (far left), Galaxy S6 edge (middle) and HTC One M9
Samsung and HTC have each been launching their flagships at around the same time for the last few years, making Galaxy vs. One dilemmas an annual occurrence for smartphone shoppers. This year, though, Samsung is making it harder for HTC to keep up, as the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edgeleap forward much farther than the HTC One M9 does. Let’s compare the three phones’ features and specs.
Size
Dimensions
No major differences in the sizes of their faces (though the One M9 is a little taller than the Galaxies), but thickness is a different ballgame. Compared to the HTC One M9, the Samsung Galaxy S6 is 29 percent thinner and the Galaxy S6 edge is 27 percent thinner.
Weight
Weight
It’s clear that HTC isn’t winning any light/thin prizes this year. The One M9 is 14 percent heavier than the Galaxy S6 and 19 percent heavier than the Galaxy S6 Edge.
Build (back)
Build (back)
Plastic begone! Samsung is going high-end with this year’s flagships, starting with the glass (Gorilla Glass 4) backs on the GS6 and GS6 edge.
Premium builds have always been integral to the HTC One lineup, and this year is no exception. Its aluminum unibody design is no less stunning than in years past, but it’s also hard to get too excited about a design that has only incrementally evolved since 2013.
Build (sides)
Build (sides)
The Samsung phones also have aluminum frames.
Colors
Color options
We’re looking at four color options for each handset.
Display (size)
Display (size)
The Galaxy S6 phones also win on screen size, giving you about 4 percent more real estate than the One M9.
Navigation buttons location
Location of navigation buttons
Samsung’s screen size advantage is a little bigger than that last category would suggest, as the One M9 uses up a bottom row for virtual navigation buttons (Samsung’s buttons are physical and capacitive, sitting below its screen).
The only asterisk is that in places like video, e-reading and photo apps, Android’s Immersive Mode will fade out the M9’s navigation keys, letting you (temporarily) use its full 5 inches.
Display (resolution)
Display (resolution)
Here’s another big advantage for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, as HTC stuck with very sharp, but not as ultra-sharp as Quad HD Full HD resolution.
Display (type)
Display (type)
As in years past, the Samsung phones have Super AMOLED displays (richer colors, greater contrasts and deeper blacks) while the One M9 uses an IPS panel.
Curved display
Curved display
The GS6 edge continues what Samsung started with 2014’s Galaxy Note Edge, sloping its screen off on either side. It’s largely a cosmetic feature, but can also flash notifications and shortcuts.
Fingerprint sensor
Fingerprint sensor
The fingerprint sensors found in Samsung’s 2014 devices were nice bonuses, but could also be a little clunky, as they required you to swipe your finger over them every time. The GS6es’ sensors, though, are more like Apple’s Touch ID, letting you simply rest your finger on the home button.
Battery
Battery
These capacities alone don’t necessarily tell you much, so we’ll have to wait for our full reviews to have much to say about battery life.
Removable battery
Removable battery
For the first time, a Samsung flagship has a sealed-tight battery. This is nothing new for the HTC One line.
Ultra/Extreme Power Saving Mode
Ultra/Extreme Power Saving Mode
Like last year, both sets of flagships have either Ultra Power Saving Mode (Samsung) or Extreme Power Saving Mode (HTC), which keep you on the grid if you’re caught with an almost-dead battery and no charger (by limiting available apps and giving you a simplified home screen with only basic functions).
Fast charging
Fast charging (when battery is low)
Both phones also have fast charging systems in place, so you can juice up a low battery faster than you might expect.
Storage
Storage
The Galaxy phones each give you three storage options, but the One M9 is only coming in a 32 GB flavor.
MicroSD
MicroSD card slot
Another first for Samsung: neither Galaxy S6 phone has a microSD card slot. The One M9 does let you pop one in to expand its 32 GB internal storage.
RAM
RAM
Nothing to worry about here, as all three phones give you an impressive 3 GB of RAM.
Processor
Processor
Samsung is kissing Qualcomm goodbye, and switching to its own Exynos processors (now even in LTE regions) for the Galaxy S6 and edge. Our performance impressions will need to wait for review units, but all three should be very fast.
Camera megapixels (rear)
Camera megapixels (rear)
HTC changed its tune this year and is now playing the megapixel game. Its original thinking, that pixel size matters more than pixel count, wasn’t completely off base … but its older Ultrapixel cameras, despite being good in low-lit conditions, weren’t good for zooming or cropping.
Camera megapixels (front)
Camera megapixels (front)
The Ultrapixel camera does live on, however, in the One M9’s front-facing shooter.
Camera aperture
Camera aperture
The Samsung phones have the wider apertures.
Heart rate sensor
Heart rate sensor
Samsung’s 2015 phones may have axed the Galaxy S5’s water resistance, but they kept its heart rate sensor (located on the phones’ backsides).
Gear VR
Gear VR compatibility
HTC has a virtual reality headset coming too, but it has nothing to do with the One M9. Samsung’s excellent Gear VR, though, is compatible with the two Galaxy S6 phones. Just be sure to buy the new version, not the original that only fits the Note 4.
Software
Software
All three run Android 5.0 Lollipop at their core, while Samsung’s use the TouchWiz UI (a much more scaled-down version this year) and the One M9 has the HTC Sense 7 UI. We’ll have more to say about the UIs once we review these three.
Release
Release
The One M9 launches in Taiwan later this month, though we still don’t know an exact US release date. The Galaxy S6 pair will be launching on April 10.
Starting price
Starting price
Previous year versions of Galaxy and One flagships rang up starting at US$650 full retail, or $200 on-contract. We don’t yet know for sure if that’s what we’re looking at here.
You can, however, expect the Galaxy S6 edge to ring up for more than the GS6. Let’s just hope the curved-screen markup isn’t as high as it was on the Note Edge (an extra $90-190 full retail or an extra $100 on-contract).
While we wait for our reviews of this year’s models, you can check out our hands-on comparison between last year’s pair of flagships, the Galaxy S5 and One M8.
I played with an HTC One M9 and realized that it's a great phone, but it's a victim of the M8's success, which in my opinion, is one of the best Android smartphones ever. But gosh, the screen on the Edge just blows the M9 away.
