Hey guys and girls,
I want to buy a full android watch and spent the afternoon reading through the forum and watching the YouTube videos where all the watches are presented...
Now I narrowed it down to the Lemfo Lem5, the Finow X5 Plus and the No.1 D5+...
As far as I understand the Lemfo and the Finow are pretty much the same, right??
The main reason for this thread is, that I landed on a big smartwatch selling page and there it said that both the Limfo and the Finow DONT have WIFI... But everywhere else it says that both models have WiFi on board... So to be 100% sure I wanted to ask you guys who own the watches...
Thanks in advance for your help...

I am the same, I do not know which of these three models to choose, which one has the best after-sales service and best community? What is the best of the three?
Enviado desde mi SM-G935F mediante Tapatalk
Three of them are very similar, so you have to take the visual aspect into consideration, I am most in favor of LEM5 it looks the best for me.
I have one question regarding FINOW X5 Plus.
Is it waterproof? Or just IP55/54?
I can`t find this info...
Lemfo has IP55.
1- LEM5 and X5+ are the same watch under different brands
2- All three are supported by a +8000 member community specifically geared towards these round full android watches. This includes a large number of custom faces, firmware, custom apps, tech support and so on.
3- The D5+ is part of a larger family of watches spread across multiple brands as well.
4- All three of them have wifi. Most of those selling sites couldn't get the specs right if their life depended on it.
So what it comes down to really picking is 1 button vs 3, LCD vs OLED, smaller watch vs larger watch.
EDIT
About that IPx4 or x5 rating, don't trust it. IPx5 is 12L/minute water jets from any direction with no issue. Basically this;

Thanks Lokifish for the very comprehensive answer! To be honest I am not sure anymore if I really should buy a full android watch atm. The reason why I wanted this is that I am using windows phone and the app situation is not really awesome... I thought a full android watch could fill that gap in some situations. But now I figured that NFC is necessary for some apps (e.g. mobile payment at my local grocery shop). Do you know a full android watch with NFC?
Thanks a lot!

I`m only curious about waterproof during heave rain or washing my hands, not more.
On LEM5 spec it`s mentioned about it, but not as it comes to X5+. But for me, X5+ looks better and I`m keen on it more. I only need some proof I can use it during washing hands or heavy rain.

If you want contactless payment you don't need NFC. Hexxa Atenea has chip & PIN support via an insert in the band. If you live in the U.S. though, forget it. The U.S. only recently started using the decade old older chip & signature system, which is incompatible with chip & PIN.
If you want NFC, you will not find a single smartwatch with fully working NFC. Not Apple, Wear, Samsung, or full Android.
having the same doubts, I bought three and teste: D5+, Finow X3+, and LEM5.
LEM5:
the good: it's prettier, larger, has three buttons and I really like the interface.
the bad: the battery. it last for 8 hours when I basically do not use it
D5+: ,
the good: battery life. this lasts forever.
the bad: only one button. the interface is not that cool
Finow X3 Plus:
the good: battery lasts ovefr a day with regular use. the two buttons make it easy to use.
the bad: visually my least favorite one, screen is a bit small for my eyes, not a fan of silicon band.

What you have done here is collected just about all the copyright protected faces and launchers ever made and distributed them without permission.
You do not own any of them. You did not make any of them and you have been reported - not just to the XDA admin team but to outside agencies as well.
What did you think you were doing ? It's a blatant act of piracy .......
hello
I gave the same dilema... I want of those, but don't know which one to choose...
is their thickness the same as below? Is the screen from the No.1 D5+ the IPS or OLED one?
Lemfo lem5 1,39"-400*400 48*48*12mm
No.1 D5+ 1 1,3"-360*360 46*46*13mm
Finow X5 plus 1,39"-400*400 48*48*13mm
tks
Hi,
can you advise me some ultra cheap chinese smartwatch only for developing (around 20€)? I'm begginer android developer and I want to develop also version for smartwatch. I don't need any heart rate sensor, GPS, cellular, etc ... Also I don't care about design. I need only a battery life for 3+ hours and bluetooth.
Do you have any ideas? And what about OS - I need Android or Android Wear?
For example - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2017-Pewant-Wearable-Devices-PW01-Smart-Watch-GT08-Android-Wear-Clock-Smartwatch-With-Camera-SIM-Smart/32799609496.html?spm=2114.search0104.3.10.5DyKmW&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_1_10152_10065_10151_10068_10344_10345_10342_10343_10340_10341_10541_10307_10303_10060_10155_10154_10056_10055_10539_10537_10536_10059_10534_10533_100031_10103_10102_5670011_10142_10107_9983_10171_5660011_10562_5740011_10084_10083_10561_10312_10313_10314_10550_10073_10551_10552_10553_10554_10557_5650011,searchweb201603_25,ppcSwitch_5&btsid=1c69ec10-c4d3-458c-81a3-654e2ec08a26&algo_expid=6803b1a1-e8fb-4d40-8e64-843b20b2a6af-4&algo_pvid=6803b1a1-e8fb-4d40-8e64-843b20b2a6af
It is possible to run my own application on this smartwatch?
Thanks
I just bought the new DT28 Smart Watch with this Nordic SoC and i want to know how to add or install dial face or watch face, what type of format use, XML or VPX, even if its possible to install application or the UI interface to the watch from a different watch with the same SoC. like the Microwear L5,i do like the interface IU and the watch faces.
thanks
It's not possible. The VXP apps are only for MediaTek LinkIT watches (Aster platform). The Nordic MPU has much better battery life but it has more limitations.
thanks, that’s what I thought so no way to do something that’s to bad

There is custom ROM for the TicWatch Pro available. It is quiet advanced with currently 402 pages:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/other-smartwatches/rom-kernel-t3821013
The TicWatch Pro has a touch display, and it should be possible to run Linux on Android Wear on it, With such an advanced custom ROM, it should also be possible to access the watch buttons and control those from Linux.
With the current PineTime, it is not possible in an easy way to implement a Linux sports watch:
https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?...e+computer
with the Ticwatch Pro and Linux on Android, it would be easier.
Linux on Android wear:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Rjvs4aFS5g
I started this discussion also in the PineTime forum:
https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=11570
and there is also a discussion on hackaday:
https://hackaday.com/2019/10/07/ask-hackaday-whats-the-perfect-hacker-smart-watch/
Someone already tried to install Linux Postmarked OS on the Tickwatch Pro:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sm.../wip-postmarketos-development-thread-t4149253
In terms of Ticwatch, the Pro 3 has just been annouced based on the Wear 4100 so that will be much more powerful and capable as a device as well.
Ticwatch Pro with wear 4100 with more power and longer battery life from octobre 1th. 2020, that sounds exciting, and it is worth waiting for.

For sure,
I have ordered it from their website and am excited for it to arrive. I've been watching / reading all the reviews and by all accounts its actually a smoothly operating watch out of the box on Wear OS without needing to be rooted and tweaked. That is before the Fall Wear OS update which is focusing on performance and stability which should make it better.
For this context of putting Linux on it, it just gives you a much more powerful platform to build on.
Happy that the Ticwatch Pro is updated regularly. For me personally, it is the most promising watch to run Linux on it. There are several options available for the Pinephone which sould also on a Linux Ticwatch Pro to make a professional sports watch out of it:

Youtube always knows what I'm interested in the most. Today Youtube showed me a new review of the Ticwatch Pro with Snapdragon 4100:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byc-ERIcgK4
The reviewer says it is the most useful smartwatch to this date. It is a review of the new model with four separate optical sensors units, with twelve sensors. It shows what is possible to this date, and shows what Garmin watch users only can dream about. I dream about a flagship smartwatch with Linux, which is fully user configurable. I hope you too.
Only few are currently interested in a Linux Ticwatch Pro watch. But don't forget John Lennons words in "imagine":
"You, you may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you will join us
And the world will live as one"

Yeah I've seen that review.
I got my shipping notification last night and should have my phone arriving on Wednesday by the end of the day.
I'm not sure if I'm going to root it but one thing I'm seeing is that if possible, you should keep a backup of the original stock ROM before doing anything to customise it.
This will be my first smart watch so not sure of the procedure but I'm guessing once there is a twrp IMG, we would fastboot boot it, take a backup of the ROM and then save it externally on computer and cloud just in case?
If it's working from pogo sticks for the charger (as opposed to microUSB or USB C) I wonder if it can be connected to the computer for data transfer and if it can, how fast/ slow that would be?

Is there no option to download the stock ROM?
I’m happy to find here friends interested in the project of Linux on Ticwatch Pro. After many years of using Garmin watches, and not being able to access the sensor data in an easy way, after all of my feature requests where ignored by Garmin, for instance the option to be able to use the watch while charging, after all of my posts about a tool which would allow easy access to sensor data where deteted in the Garmin forum, after my Garmin account was inactivated completely after criticism about post deletion, I gave up these trials. I’ m currently using the android application a training tracker:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.atrainingtracker
but it is quiet uncomfortable to import .csv data every day into a database software. I probably will change soon to Matlab. After many posts in the Matlab forum, Matlab finally gave in and added Bluetooth low energy support for sports sensors:
https://ch.mathworks.com/help/matlab/import_export/collect-data-from-fitness-monitoring-devices.html
Matlab has all the options I need. But who wants to carry around a laptop for sporting activities? I became interested in the Linux PinePhone, and there was good support in the Pine64 community which advised me what could be done with the Linux Pinephone.
The Pinetime which was promoted as a Linux Pinephone companion was not the device I’m looking for, since it does not allow an easy way to add external Bluetooth low energy sensors.
The time is here for a real Linux watch, and all sports watch options which run on the Pinephone should also run on a Linux Ticwatch Pro.
I’m not in a hurry to realize all these options, but still I’m very interested the development of the PinePhone an a Linux TicWatch Pro. Sports watch sensors have become my daily companions, and I suppose they will be companions for the rest of my life. Therefore I’m watching carefully the development in this field, and I’m happy to find here new friends who are sharing with me a passion for a Linux Ticwatch pro:good:.
Just a heads up that my watch arrived this morning.
First impressions are really positive although I've never used a Wear OS or other smart watch before so don't really have a baseline for comparison.
It's not too heavy given the weight that has been shaved off, it's not too bulky (now looks like a normal bulky watch) and it's pretty smooth.
Excited to see what Google's upcoming update can do for this watch and what happens with custom ROM development!

There are many new reviews on youtube for the new snapdraon 4100 Ticwatch pro. I recommend also this review:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZUm4c6zp5Q
but for my personally, all these feature become really interesting when they can be fully controlled by the user, for instance in combination with sensor data streaming to an MQTT brocker, etc.
There are so many smartwatches available with similar features. But would a Linux smartwatch which is fully user configurable not make sense the most? Having Python libraries and all the options of desktop developement tools, would that not be wonderful?

Is this 4G also?
No, its is not 4G. But the reviewer made a ranking of the smartwatches, if I got it wright it is about speed, and the snapdragon 4100 is at the second position, which is great. For Linux I would choose the fastest Ticwatch Pro with the biggest RAM memory.
