My brand new pad has a pixel that won't show green...running one of the apps that says it fixes that... If it doesn't work, i'm going to see if I can get a replacement.
Just a warning to everyone. Be on the lookout.

I've got a dead pixel as well. Near the top left. Doesn't really bother me that much, so I don't really care. Surely one teeny little pixel doesn't warrant you returning it ...?

I used to think that. But if its been like, 3 Weeks and there's already one dead pixel... What does that say for the possibilities?
Just called Asus - he tried to get me to do a wipe.
Are you kidding me? wipe all my data? Asus - get rid of the spiel, its junk. Get ppl who know whats up on the phones ugh

My first pad had a dead pixel. I found it the second day and returned it as soon as I could. It was kind of in the middle of the screen, and I could see it every time I viewed a white web page. Needless to say, it bothered the heck out of me and had to be returned.
i went through 4 tabs until i got one that was fine display wise. first one had a cluster of discolored pixels, like someone pressed their thumb hard on the screen and damaged the area. the other two each had a couple grains of what looked like sand under the glass. All of these were around the same area on the tab, mid-lower left area of the screen.
Mines mid high right...
I'm worried about an attempted unlocking... I tried to unlock my tab before they fixed the c4okt issues, and im wondering if it might've sent them a file about that... Also wondering if unlocking will void it for a screen issue.

Dead and stuck pixels are far from unique to Asus. There is a difference by the way, a stuck pixel is one that is, well stuck displaying one color, these can sometimes be fixed by programs like you are running and/or gently massaging the area with a pencil eraser or something similar, dead pixels don't display any color and are rarely able to be fixed.

My dead pixel I guess just happens to be in a place where I rarely notice it. I tried one of those dead pixel detect and fix apps but it didn't fix anything.

There is one other thing you can try, VERY gently massage the dead pixel with a something like a pencil eraser, that will sometimes get it working.

That's fine and all... but there's a much thicker layer of glass over a capacitive screen than there is over a resistive touch screen... or just a LCD monitor.
Unless I'm missing something here, this advice does not apply anymore.

The screen will still flex. I am not sure whether it would work or not on these devices, I just put that out there hoping it might help.

Don't feel too bad. I just made the mistake of looking at an all black screen on my Acer a510.
NINE stuck pixels!
One little cluster made a shape exactly like the big dipper. Very artistic, with pretty multicolored stuck-pixel stars.
Needless to say I wasn't thrilled. So much for quality control. Sounds like Asus at least isn't this bad.
I'm just curious, has anyone ever gotten their Nexus letters at the back removed, as in the shiny black vinyl that covers them? The letters N, E and X were completely peeled off in my case in a matter of weeks when I was holding it, along with the adhesive.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Nope, but I've had a case on it since day 1...
Odd. Hasn't happened to me. (Happened to every BlackBerry Curve 8520 I had, though. Damn, that phone sucked.)
Wonder if it's affected by how you hold it. Definitely return it anyway.
Wait, I didn't even know that could happen, I though they were like part of the plastic.
You got a picture of it?
Do you have a wireless charger?
I have one and I have noticed that after charging it is kind of warm on the back and I have to wipe some kind of stain around some off the letters. Now that you mention your letters falling off it gets me
thinking that the glue could be melting away or something.
My N7 is only 7 weeks old and I'm using a Fatboy pillow for charging.

I had this same problem just a few days ago I noticed like a sticky residue seeping from the letters on the back and part of the letter lifting. I just removed all the sticker and cleaned away the sticky residue 'see attached pic' I actually prefer it without glued on sticky letters. Looks good I think.

Wireless charging here and my letters are falling off now also.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
I use the wireless charging feature as well - no issues, and it spends all night - every night - on the charger.
I didn't know that there was plastic in the letters to make it shiny. When mine finally fall out on their own, I think I'll get some model paint and paint the letters in white. Or maybe bright red. Just to be different.
Really? They fall? lol, I though they were pretty much part of the case :b

Wow I didn't even know this was possible. Makes me not want to use wireless charging if it's going to destroy the design of my device.

Been using wireless charging from the day I got it and the letters are still firmly on there. Touchscreen though, now thats another issue.

Yup, it looks like this. I was thinking about removing the rest so it looks uniform again the hollow letters do look nice, though. I don't own a wireless charger so I don't think that's the issue.

Now that you mention it and I saw the picture, you're right, the hollow letters doesn't look bad.

No wireless charging here either it's just glued on stickers that are losing stick over time as they heat and cool.
I'ts just like black tape.
Sure it looked cool glossy but doesnt bother me, I just picked out my letters with my nail and cleaned it up.
I like the 'indented' look nexus on the back.
What assembly dates do you have on yours? Perhaps they just changed to a less strong glue or even applied less glue due to the first batches problem of stains/glue residue.
Hello. My wife dropped her S4 on concrete alittle over a month ago and has a crack on the top part of the phone. Everything was fine until today when she went to turn on her phone and the screen is black. Everything works as far as notifications, sounds, etc. even the touch works on the screen. I managed to go to a real dark room and barely see the screen enough to turn the brightness all the way up but the screen has a real pale white and some lines through it. Just wierd it started to act up today after she dropped it over a month ago. Does this mean the digitizer is faulty or is it something else? I attached a picture for you to see it.
It means the LCD is bad. The Digitizer is what detects touch. Best bet is to replace the whole screen and digitizer assembly. It's not cheap, but it is easy to do.

This is the one that I got. It comes complete and looks like a factory original. All the markings match the ones from the broken one I took off mine. It's not cheap, but it is easy.
Mobiletechvideos also has a service for screen replacement.

Hello, I've got a question. I assume, that this little white square sticker in first picture is water damage indicator. Am I right?
And I wonder what is the difference between these two in pictures? One is black and another one is white. Is it possible that white one was drown? Or maybe these even aren't what I think? If that then what are they for?

Mine had a NFC Icon.
Maybe is the NFC indicator?
It's NFC icon

Just a sticker
It's there to show you where the NFC nodule is located. You can peel it off, or leave it on... it's totally harmless.

This is only NFC sticker on cover battery. You can remove it if you want
(The water damage indicator is still inside phone and never on cover battery)
Here is where you find the indicator:
Where did you get that from? Can you share it?

Indeed. It's just the factory applied protector is coming away isn't it? Hard to tell from those pics with all the reflection. Down on a flat table would have been easier to see

There is definately a screen protector applied, just look near the sensors around the screen you can see the parts where thers is air under the protector :silly::silly:

that is not bubble , that is coating fade away .
So sad I have got manufacturer defected phone.
It REALLY looks like some kind of protective film. Are you sure it's not? I've never heard of "coating fading away" before.
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
I do not see anything remotely looking like a screen protector or anything like that, that said, it is just an unfortunate production malfunction which can always happen and so obvious you don't have to worry about it and can just return it to get a replacement. I do not really see the need for a whole thread on such a problem.
Would I feel bummed out about it, of course, but these things happen and are easily solved. Thread closed?
