[Q] Weak vibration on S5, motor problem? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi there,
we have 2 S5's at home, one for me and one for my wife... on my wife's phone I can totally tell that the "haptic feedback" is really stronger than mine and works great, it seems that mine got weaker from one day to the next and then remained so. I have some more apps than her but not really many.
both phones are set to the maximum and I was just noticing that if I lower my wife's haptic feedback 2 "steps" on the haptic level, then it matches mine at full.
Only main difference is that my phone is rooted and hers is not, both on stock roms - does anyone have an idea? or is it simply the vibration motor of mine that got weaker or something? we got both phones same day and they are not even a month old....
shall I try one of those "system" applications with the vibration intensity setting, as in voltage and that jazz?
thanks,
Gabrio

Wifes vibration will always high
Did u try to install a custom rom ??
Try wipe your cache and see or do a reset
If u installed a custom rom may b it have occured your problem
Or may b its a factory fault

hey,
i know that one was coming....about wife's vibrator heheheh... ANYWAY
i dont have a custom rom, I just did Chainfire's root + TWRP recovery and then a couple of root apps, that's it really. i just tried to wipe cache + dalvik cache but didn't change a thing... I could do a factory reset but i doubt it will change anything..
today i checked with Sammy's tech support (have to say they were very nice on live chat and twitter). they even suggested they could do remote assistance, which i thought was very odd and i wouldnt want to let them access my phone remotely anyway...
then they suggested to drop by a repair center to see what they think, which i am going to do tomorrow to see what they say when they feel the intensity of the vibration. Phone is just one month old so it could be a factory fault....maybe they can just replace the motor... which seems to be this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Gal...ibrations-Motor-Vibrationsmotor-/361256909857 sooo cheap!!
thanks anyway,
Gab

thanks - according to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251612 even by rooting the phone, they "should" recognise the warranty in Europe.
"Just the fact that you modified or changed the software of your device, is not a sufficient reason to void your statutory warranty. As long as you have bought the device as a consumer in the European Union."

Warrenty is not void when you have knox 0x1 in Belgium.... they replaced screen in warrenty for me....

that is cool!

Just for a quick update.. went to Samsung repair centre yesterday, they had a look and said that bc vibration is effectively working just maybe a bit weak they cannot justify a repair basically which i can agree with...they said keep an eye on it if it gets worse.... no mention or question abt phone being rooted at all.
What i did for curiosity was to tighten the screws of the phone and seems a bit more vibration now..
Or i could always order the part from ebay... found it from germany for 4 euro... tho that means opening the phone and i need a technical overview...
Alright.. take care guys

Bricked or what?

Hi again guys. I dont know if i ralle can use the term bricked or not, but i guess so. After a funny day with a couple reboot and new "radio" image my Legend want start anymore. The screen is just black, even if i hold down vol down/up and power. So the big question.... Is this phone bricked? If so, can i fix it?
EDIT: The LED does not even respond when charger is plugged in.
Sorry for the lack of English.
if it is bricked - try this.
I dont even get to fastboot The phone is completely dead/black
Are you S-OFF? I've never known a S-ON Legend be completely bricked like that!
No i'm still S-ON because of the d*** HBOOT 1.01
Only thing i've done so far is root+CM7. And yesterday when i played around with ROM Manager i had to remove the battery upon a crash.
Apparently same problem as here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1096083
This is really weird...

I think you are in trouble...
RomManager is maybe the source of your problems, what did you do with ?
Did you have errors during the radio installation process ? and which radio were you flashing ?
Here the story. I rooted my phone and switch to CM7 and notice that my GPS did not work with stock radio verision (dont remember wich) I upgraded to 7.08.35.21 and the GPS finally workt again with some minor interrups. Did some reading and decided to upgrade again to 7.13.35.05.
The installation went well untill the end. A picture was shown, a mailbox lookalike with an arrow pointing at a foolish looking droid dude. The only thing i could do was to remove the battery, after that the phone was dead.

me too it sucks
Is it still under warranty? (Obviously not as you're rooted, but would it be if you weren't rooted?) If so, try sending it to HTC they might just replace it if they can't see for themselves that you're rooted!
If you says its a firmware update that caused the phone to not turn on they just JTAG it without checking, reflash the latest update (and sadly HBOOT) and send it back

They will send it back unfixed and say the warranty is void. Even if they know its rooted they might still fix it for you, it depends.
It's my fault that the phone is broken and i'm willing to take that blame A clean conscience makes me sleep better at night
I dont know how it is in the rest of the world, but in my country there is a high fee if they notice that the owner has done something with the firmware etc. Thanks anyway for all the respons and help, and remember guys, stay away from Rom manager
You only have to say that it said update available then when it restarted it did this.. If they say anythign after its been sent then just plead ignorance. Its not like they cant afford to repair one phone

well i'm going to say something like that. Generally because my phone was buggered before then (signal problems and locking into airplane mode) though i'm rooted i still wouldn;t think i'd get away with it
does it matter if the root is S-ON i'm just thinking off my chances
PM sent, I can fix hard bricked Legends with JTAG.

A serious problem with my screen:(

Hey guys,
I have a big problem with my phone. When i came back from school. the screen backlight off the phone turned on but i didn't saw anything. So i charged it but still had the same problem When i boot up i still hear the bootup sound and when I press the power button the screen backlicht still turns on and off qtadb recognized my phone 2 so i rebooted to download mode and flashed a stock rom. I think it is something between the screen and the phone connection. But I still have warrenty. If i didn't i would just open in myself to take a look
some 1 got this problem and solved it? it is almost holiday here so i can just flash the latest dutch stock rom and get it repaired
thanks in advance

If i was you i should go to a repair center from samsung (hope there is one in your area because in belgium there are only 4 mobile repaircentra )
But first of course flash a stock rom
I flashed 4 times by now, so it isn't a problem with the firmware. I think it is a defect. but there is a service centre in range but it is kpn buissiness centre.. and my mother told me they can't fix it becouse they only do sotware (her htc legend was broken 2).. so ill send it myself if i can
thanks for all of you guys help

they(samsung guys) can not/won't look at your phone bootloader. So relax & just flash a stock dutch rom without bootloader.

Very strange problem with the device screen

Hey ,
I have the device for about two years
Yesterday I began a new problem on device screen, every time I open it from sleep mode the screen colors changing.
I tried to wipe (not helped), I installed Rom stock by Odin (also did not help)
Even in revovery and download mod the problem occurs.
I uploaded a video to YouTube that shows the problem.
I have no warranty the device, what can I do?
what Rom - kernel - do use OC -UV
I had the CM9 with original kernel
I switched to rom stock of Samsung and the problem still occurs

I'm asking because your issue seems to be a hardware issue.. I've seen this issue in many other circuits where either a connection is loose or some circuit is damaged.. Please get your phone checked as it may not have been repaired properly..
If it was only observed in a particular rom or with as particular kernel, it would be a software problem.. But the fact that you see this issue even in recovery and while using stock roms indicates it is most likely a hardware issue..
It's something that can be fix alone?
As I pointed I have no warranty for the device .. Correction in a company can be expensive

Unless you're really good and experienced at repairing a phone and it's internals on your own, it would be better to give it for repairs at a service center.. They would know the issue and how to fix it better than you would..

HOW to unroot for waranty purposes ( HELP )

thankyou my phone is working now, but i want to know if my phone is still in waranty, because i tried to install knox and theres a pop msg saying that i installed a custom firmware. how do i get it back into stock, i installed the stock firmware from sam mobile. website, i just want to know if im going to take it back to samsung center, will they able to know that my smartphone has already been rooted? . i already checked my phone via root checker, and a pop up msg appears and saying that my phone is not rooted anymore. Im just confuse that.. why am i not able to install knox. but i can still check for updates on firmware via settings. i tried to set up knox but knox app said that the firmware already been modified and thats the reason why i cant set up knox. well this is not about the knox app and rooting. The main reason here is what if my phone has a factory defect or my phone is defective. My phone now is suffering from over heating. I cant even hold my phone on my hands. I dont have many apps running on my cp, I already have those cooling apps and clearing apps to cool down my smartphone. I tried also disabling those bloatwares or apps thats i dont use,via bk disabler. hoping for someone to help me with this another problem. BTW i flashed the ap file only on my phone via Odin and it works! i dont have the binary blocked by frp error message but didnt flash the BL CP CSC and pit file . itried flashing those 4 including the AP at the same time and i got an error msg fail in ODIN. i dont where to put the PIT file tho. If im not mistaken theres a variant of PIT file i guess depending what gb your mobile is. and I dont know what are those BL CP CSC AND PIT FILE can do with my s7 edge. i hope that im doing the right thing here. i really dont know what im doing, but luckily my phone is working fine right now just flashing the AP file via odin,
You blew the fuse. Yes they can tell. No there is nothing you can do about it. Unrooting does not reverse it.
Rooted? => Warranty is gone for ever... it shows them...
Whats warranty? They will repair your phone and you dont need to pay them for that..... but without it you can get help from samsung and repair your phone... but they will get paid... still dont worry... if you think you have a hardware problem... check it with samsung....

some stores employees dunno about root and still fix under warranty Samsung is very tight on warranty as they even added water detecting markers which is a small sticker placed in 2 - 3 sides in the phone if water enters the device they can know your phone was water damaged and wont help u saying we dont cover water damage
There is a module Called NoWatermark.
So?
Samsung is a trashdemark that i nevermore will use, i putted this damned devicers criators on my lethal blacklist.
They begun simple, they gained power, bow their are a ****ty bastards worst more than apple,
They promised be the opposite o' apple
They are hypocrites.

xposed can't hide water detection as it is not in the device software it is stickers placed in side the phone once water makes contact with it it loses colour and it cant be reverted back indicating that water entered the device the phone is only water resistant not water proof

In my country Samsung service is sucks.... I root my not 4 after the warranty period over, but they tell me that I have to change my motherboard I said them why I don't have so much big issue also paying you what you charged. Because I was just rooted they gave me only one option is changing the motherboard. The price of the motherboard around $300. Then I went to local shop and fixed it just $15. Also problem related to hardware. So no other word f#uck Samsung.

Root dilema

Hello there. Today, I bought my new s7 Edge and I want to root it. But I am worried about the warranty. That is why I want to ask u guys.
for example, if I break screen on my phone (while rooted), will they repair it, or will they say, warranty void, your problem?
Thanks for your answers and help.
No one will repair Your phones screen (glass) for free. If You will get pink dots or lines on screen then sure , probably even with knox 0x1. But a broken screen from a drop Nope. I've got my phone fixed before with knox 0x1 and no one said anything. As long as You will reflash stock rom with odin they most probably won't even check if it was rooted before or not.
Warranty repair only works when the phone has a hardware issue caused by a faulty manufacturing and every issue or damage caused by the user isn't covered by warranty.
Example:
Your phone won't turn on for no reason = free replacement.
Your phones display shows lines or flickers = free repair.
You drop Your phone and break the display = Your fault, You pay the full price for the repair, even with warranty.
What I would do?
Root it Flash custom roms, enjoy Your phone.

In Europe it is usual no problem. Outside Europe it can bea problem.
But your example isn't a warranty covered one.

If your insurance pays for physical damage, that had nothing to do with root. If your phone dies, or is in a bootloop, restarts all the time, or freez, that could be a problem if your knox is tripped.
Edit : what do you expect from a root. For my opinion the phone is well working with stock Rom. For me there is no reason for a root.
So. Root, that trips knox to 0x1 will void warranty to software (that u can repair super easly with odin ) but it does not void warranty for physical things (display stops working like the "pink dots" and other accepted stuff)
BTW thanks guys

Yes. Exactly. As long as Your phone breaks itself by itself then You're all good. And fixing any Samsung device with odin is really easy. There's literally no way to hard brick it to death. Unless You play with Odins "t.flash, nand erase, repartition" whenever You use odin just select a file (AP) and then tap on start button, that's it. As safe as possible.
But, just in case You hard brick it to death then just go to samsung or Your carrier and tell them that it stopped working by itself, and since they won't be able to power it on, they will just replace it
thanks guys. Idk how to close thread so admin please close it XDDD
