I'd like to vent that after owning this phone for however many months I have, the startup time is aging me. Is it just my phone in particular or do all Nexus 6's take years to turn on? Not having a reboot option on stock is a tad bit annoying too. Just saying.
It's pretty slow for me as well even with a reboot option. I heard it is due to the encryption. If I am wrong please correct me.

if you unencrypt, it boots much faster. also, on m, my encrypted n6 takes about 55 seconds to boot. a reboot option.. if you have root, you have many options. first one is entering reboot, or reboot recovery, or reboot bootloader into a terminal emulator. plus there are many widgets and apps that you can use.

i actually agree, even though its easy to get into the bootloader the same way. if nothing else works, using widget that i created from the terminal emulator code works fine(root).

Franco's Simple Reboot app is also a possibility: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=simple.reboot.com
And as of v4p10 it actually does a safe shutdown (didn't before).
The Secure Settings app does a proper and safe shutdown too, and also has widgets.
The nexus is not all that exciting until you root it.

It's a long boot time is it not? I might boot once every few days to once a week. Whats the difference? I find it annoying and was *****ing about it. "Atrocity" was me being humorous, relax a little.

The number of apps and/or app sizes would be the greatest difference in boot times, I'd say.

Boots up faster than almost any phone I've owned. Exception being my moto x 2013 dev. It booted insanely fast. I'm not encrypted tho so that may be why it only takes maybe 30sec to lock screed. Try going to an early jb device or if you want to be in pure hell a gb device and wait a minute or 2 to reboot.

I have 3 questions...first and most annoying, why does my phone seem to hit the back button on its own? I will ne reading xda (for example) and I will feel the haptic feed back and it will take me to the subforum, then to main forum, then to phone selection screen. Then I cant select my phone again I have to hit my home button an restart the xda app. It happens with all different apps, I am just on xda most of the time.lol.
Second, has anyones phone booted into safe mode? Why does this happen?
And third, do you know where the standard wallpapers are located so I can delete them? I have found the live ones and they are gone and so are thw stock tones. Thank you in advance.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
1st one sounds like a hardware defect or a rogue app. You can try a hard reset (wipe of data) and see if it fixes it, but if not, you got a wonky hardware set.
2nd, there is a combination of buttons to boot into safe mode, and I thought I remembered reading somewhere that if the phone crashes a certain way, it will boot back into safe mode, but I'm not sure.
3rd, not sure, good question. I'd have to look at it, don't remember off the top of my head. Are you running stock or aosp ????
Answer to 3. Wallpapers live within the framework-res.apk You would gain nothing by going through the trouble of deleting them.
good day.

Mine does that too.. except its the menu key happens most when it is in my car dock (3rd party) tho i have power and audio running to it... wonders if it is bad hardware...
I have buttons press themselves sometimes. It's usually when there is a lot of buildup on the buttons from using. Wipe them off and the problem stops.

Is there something wrong with my xoom.
I even did a factory reset and it is the same amount of time. i could read a book waiting for it to boot.
Anybody else have this problem?

A minute boot time is about right and not bad at all. You must be a fast reader.
Keep in mind that the boot up process on the Xoom will be longer than a Galaxy Tab due to the dual cores. The hardware has to do more before passing over to the software, that is why the Dual Core logo stays on for about half of the boot.
He got the 10.1, sorry for not being clear. And as far as i know it is the same processor.

Well, a minute is still about average for the Xoom...think about all the things you can do with the extra 30 seconds you are waiting during bootup that your brother lacks?
You can make yourself coffee, smell the flowers, flirt with the cute receptionist, relax and contemplate love and loss in the new millennium....
Consider it a feature.

I believe it depends on what you have on your device... lots of apps/services/free storage etc.
My xoom starts in 3 seconds ....*Joke* my xoom is always on!!!
My Xoom as is with my current setup does a complete boot from Dual Core logo to lock screen in exactly 1 minute, and a 39 second boot if you don't count the boot logo time. I'm sure it would be a little faster maybe, but there are a few apps that I need to have running on the boot process, ex: equalizer, and setcpu.
Try removing all the junk apps that start up with the system. I removed everything except a select few. If you have a lot of apps you will see a crap load of apps that start up on boot, get rid of 'em! What good do they do for you when it's usually an app that doesn't need it. It's just like how Windows boot operates, ya know? Less junk, more speed.
The world is ending, it takes ONE MINUTE to boot up your xoom!
One minute is not bad for booting an OS. Anyway, who cares? Why are you turning it off anyway? You know how long mine takes to come on? Less than a second when I click that standby button at the back.
Why does it matter????? Are you all so blindly in love with you xooms that you don't think this is a problem..
Both the Acer and Samsung boot in half the time of the xoom with the same processors. Hmmmm doesn't sound right (and yes they are all fresh)

Face unlock is a gimmick anyways..I have it on my phone, you usually end up having to type in your pin or pattern anyways, it is a negligible feature.
I should have factory reset before updating, that first reboot regenerating everything loaded (I guess) is taking a LONG time.

Wrong. I have it on my Galaxy Nexus and in 4.0.3 there's an option to improve face unlock. Just scan your face in different light, with/without glasses (if you have to wear) and in different angles (holding the phone in eye height, looking down on phone and so on) and face unlock works nearly everywhere except in total darkness. I took the time once and scanned about 30-40 situations, now face unlock works flawless.
I got it too, east coast DC area

I know this, but I have tried this, it still gives me 'no face found' or 'unable to recognize' failures often. Not to mention that it's just a major PITA to hold any device in a single position for it to recognize you (very unsafe while driving), and it takes a full 2-3 seconds longer to unlock than simply swiping in your pattern, which is the fallback if it doesn't recognize you anyway. I have not found a good use for it yet (presumably, wouldn't a photo of you work anyway? And isn't it easier for a criminal to get a picture of your face than to guess your pattern?)
Just saying, impractical gimmick. Fun to play with, but for anyone who uses their device often, they will get tired of looking at themselves while the device tries to recognize them..IMHO, FWIW
Is this true

Hello everyone. So far I'm loving everything about my Nexus 4. The thing is fast and beautiful, but I unfortunately I have a problem.
Every once in a while the LCD will stop working. I unlock it and it works, then maybe 5 hours later (after many unlocks and locks) I will unlock it and when the screen should come on my LCD slowly turns white, it looks like when you push on the screen, then it slowly spreads until the whole screen is white. I lock it then relock it and its back to normal.
Anyone else have this issue?

Everything runs OK except the clock. It goes faster than normal, about 30 extra minutes every 15 hours. No matter if I set it automatic or manual.
It is rooted and with Purity\franco rom\kernel mix but it didn't even fix it.
Is there any internal hardware module which controls the clock?
Is it just the clock or the entire system .. like .. do games run faster? Does the typing "cursor" blink faster? Does it happen on stock?

It looks like it's the whole system. We used to have this issue back in the early days on the HTC HD2, flashing a different kernel solved it. But since you said it happens on different kernels AND on stock, I'm not sure what could be the culprit.
Have you tried complete stock? (stock everything with locked bootloader)

I wont advice slowing the whole system down just because of your clock.
The absolute worst I can think about it the internal clock crystal is a bit off (hardware-faulty) and will be replaced under warranty if you still have it.
- Im sorry, forgot that you dont have warranty anymore
A few things:
Have you bought it 2nd-handed?
If yes:
Did the previous owner have the same problem?
Did the previous owner flash any software?
In what condition did you receive your N4? (cracked screen? fall damage? water damage?)
If no:
You should still have warranty I believe
If it did came out of the box with this problem; go back to your seller, explain your problem and work out some kind of fix
Dont get me wrong, its probably a software problem somewhere, but some of the above might help finding the problem
Actually I bought it as a faulty and without warranty device (80$). It's been manipulated (cracked and fixed screen) so it has no warranty.
Nevertheless, it runs absolutely great.
What do you mean with internal clock crystal?
Thanks for your help!
