Who knows how this works, is it purely software limitation from sony or hardware? It seems QCD doesnt work on dual sim version.
For Quick charge to work on your phone you need to get compatible Quick Charge 2.0 (TM) Charger. But if you don't wanna put your money in extra stuff simplest way is put your phone into flight mode and get your mobile charged 25-30% Faster. I have tested it and it works...

Z3+ Dual (E6533) doesn't have Quick Charge 2.0. I think the thread owner just wan to know what makes Sony disable this feature on dual sim variant. Snapdragon 810 SoC absolutely has this feature but it is only enabled on single sim variant of Z3+.
yea, i want to know if on this E6533 version, can we do something on the software side to make Quick charging possible. since it has same hardware as the single sim card version.
Anyone can confirm this?

Actually, the QC is working for both e6553 and e6533.
The only reason sony "disabled" e6533's QC is that this model does not charge as fast as e6553 with QC.

Ok, If that's the case, it can be enable, just misssing the right person, which is hard to get.
BTW, how do you know, or you know someone knows it? Which goes back to my original question.
Even it is slower than single sim, it still better than normal speed.

Yes,i have read someone else's post which teated the problem you said.

The result is: e6553(single sim) takes 1h 30min form 3% to 100%, e6533(dual sim) takes 2h 10min form 3% to 100%.
What's your normal charging time with normal Sony charger?

Ok cool. Looks like what I assume earlier is correct, its the software side, rather than the hardware issue on the dual sim version. So that's possible to change, but need someone who knows what they are doing in the kernel just like other phone.

I'm not sure, maybe it depends on firmware's build number.
I use an old ipad charger, haven't tried for more than 20 minutes, but from 5 to 50% it takes between 15 and 20 minutes.
My phone is not rooted, stock software.
I hope I'm not damaging the battery.

Maybe you will shorten your batterie's lifecycle (a little), because on a long term track more current isn't healthy for any electrical component, but - as I'm pretty sure Sony uses current limitation - this won't happen immediately.
I personally didn't see any faster change using the Turbo Charger by Motorola, charging in airplane mode yes it charges faster.
Am still disappointed about the turbo discharge and heat on the Z3+ Dual, nothing can stop it, am a root user.

Does it really have always listening capabilities when the screen is off? And could you do a video of it? I think we would all appreciate it very much.
Question, is it the same type of charging plug as a galaxy note 3 or is it something new. Because I hear there's a faster charging process now

Do you have the T-Mo variant? If so, is it loaded with bloat. Is the bootloader unlocked?
If it's the international (with snapdragon chip), does T-Mo LTE work?
Thanks.

As far as listening capabilities, I'm not 100% sure. "Ok Google" doesn't work when the screen is off... However maybe I need to explore more of the S Voice feature. I'll look into it while I prepare a video for ya'll - I'll try to get that done sooner than later.

The port changed back to USB 2 - I know wtf, right? Apparently too many people complained about the usb 3 port not being compatible - HA. Guess people didn't know you could still use a micro usb 2.0 connector? It does however charge just as fast when using AC.

It's the tmo variant - bloat is unfortunately about the same as the Note 3 - T-Mobile vvm, my account, tv, name id, all the google apps, - literally all of them, facebook... no messenger, and that's about it.

They changed the usb cable to a normal one, no more thick cable with the strange
wide plug... Samsung added a quick chargiing method which can charge the phone
50% full in 30 minutes, meaning that if the battery is drained it can fully charge it
in about an hour.
I always hated the new wide usb plug for the usb cable, a few days after purchasing
the Note 3 I found out that the normal old usb cable with the mini usb plug could can
be used on Note 3, I know the wide plug and the thick cable were meant to be used with
USB 3.0 however I tested the time it took to copy a 2GB file using my computer's usb 3.0
and the note 3's special thick usb cable and found that there was virtually no difference in
copying the 2GB file, and there was no difference in charging time.
I seriously doubt that it will fully charge in an hour. It makes sense if you do the math but there has to be a catch.
Yes the 50% in a half hour is correct but it switches to trickle charging at some point and thus takes longer.
This I think is just the built-in fast charging of the snapdragon 805, same as other phones.

Have you tried using GPS while charging the phone? I am considering switching from LG G3 to Note 4 specifically because G3 overheats when using GPS and charging at the same time. I'd rather not spend a bunch of money if Note 4 does the same thing.

If you're talking about using it in your car, my S5 does heat up quite a bit. It doesn't shut down or anything, but with the screen on full brightness, GPS running and charging wirelessly, it heats up a LOT. Keep in mind this is in 95 degree weather with the AC never really touching the phone.

Yes in the car. And I understand that it will heat up. The problem is if it's heating up to the point of stopping charging, because on a long trip (just when you need the GPS most) you can't use this functionality. My use case is exactly as you described - So Cal weather, full brightness (because sun), wireless charging and GPS. I know that's pushing the envelope, but for the price, I expect it to be able to do it.

Loving it! Kinda took me by surprise even though i knew i had it. Waited until my battery got to 1% then plugged this baby in, went to do something whick took 2-3 minutes. Now im already at 10% wow! I could see this as being super useful in rushed situations.
It came in handy this morning. Apparently I was so tired last night that I set my phone down on the wireless charging station (forgetting that I didn't have the wireless charging cover) and forgot to plug in it. At some point in the night my phone died, meaning my alarm didn't go off. Luckily my wife's goes off about 10 minutes after mine normally would. So, I plugged it up & was able to have a 50% charge before walking out the door to go to work this morning. That was a very pleasant experience with the quick charge feature.

Greenpeace would complain because more power is used to charge quicker and for more power used, there is more power needed but for the extra power needed, coal power stations need more coal and to get the coal you dig it out of the ground. So in other words, the dinosaurs may be dead but they are dead pissed.

The biggest I see with this "Faster Charging" is that, this is the first phone I have ever owned that doesnt die on the charger.
What I mean by that is that, when I using the HotSpot Tether and playing games and multitasking all at the same time, my previous phones would either over heat and force the phone to cut off to cool down "LG G3" or the battery percent would get lower and lower while on the charger.
This has been my problem on every phone from the HTC M8 to S5 to M7 to Note 3 to Nexus 4/5 everyphone.
With this faster charging it charge fast and is able to keep up with my multi tasking demands while using the phone.
This may be a feature of the Snapdragon 805 being able to handle the work load better.

Will you be kind enough to install Amphere app from Playstore and let is settle for a minute or two and post the current values? The only explanation for slow USB charge is that certain phones are using more current and this would be a great way to identify it. Post the main value displayed as well as the min value and max value if possible.
I am currently using on airplane mode with -220mA. Min is -210mA. Max is -420mA (only appeared as soon as I unplugged and never again).
When i switch off airplane mode I get -250mA. Min is -240mA. Max is -360mA.

I don't want to cause any unnecessary issues! All I am saying is people hoped for a memory leak issue in 5.0.2. It seems to have reduced significantly but i saw some users still complain on Google Product forums and Google has acknowledged it. Apparently Google has fixed this but hasn't released the fix for OEMs or public yet.
I am not saying we will have the same issue. But if that user complained his phone feels laggy, it could be due to this issue. Because after all, I dont think Sony devs go so far as to solve issues in the AOSP code.
So this is just speculation. Nothing is proven. You need to see if there are blank restarts on app processes even though you have plenty of free RAM. That is a direct hint at memory leaks.
I was wondering if anyone is returning their phone after getting the US version, and having some issues with it, im thinking of sending it back to NewEgg.

Whats the solution to battery life and overheating during regular use (not on the charger)?
You realize your issues with heat build during charging are because of the fast-charge technology, right? Totally normal, as a ton of power is flowing into the phone. You can always use a slow charger to charge the phone while in use. You shouldn't have any heat build up during use when not also charging. I know I don't. The hottest the phone gets is slightly warm.

For overheating, use a different adapter if you have the 1.8 GHz version. Battery life, just get a third party battery saver and turn on airplane mode. That will save you a ton of battery. I did it for mine and the phone last from 6 A.M to 10 P.M.

Very dependent on ambient temperatures as well.
Anandtech has confirmed that the panel in the ZF2 is inefficient compared to competitors, so not much can be done about that aspect. Their analysis of the phone is in depth, as are their other reviews.
I would like to return mine because the battery is performing right under the Optimus G I owned. With 3000mAh I was looking forward to battery comparable to the G2. If the next OTA improves battery, then I'll keep the Asus.

Dang, so the bad battery is a hardware related (screen tech) issue based on that review.

For overheating, use a different adapter if you have the 1.8 GHz version. Battery life, just get a third party battery saver and turn on airplane mode. That will save you a ton of battery. I did it for mine and the phone last from 6 A.M to 10 P.M.

No offense, but I don't think that solution would work for me or other people who want to use the phone. Turning off all of the radios with AirPlane mode mades it a unless paperweight.

Yeah you're right about that but at least you get to still use the WiFi.

Yeah. The people from Anandtech are pretty good at evaluating devices. Also this would explain why the battery drains rapidly during use & barely when inactive. Battery life is very important to me, so a phone with a removable battery might be best.

One thing to keep in mind, is that though the display uses a lot of power, the Intel chip itself seems very efficient. Not only does it sleep well, but as is shown in the PCMark testing on the Anand website, it uses its power very efficiently. Thus, though the phone's maximum display on time is much lower than the other phones, its practical usage time is fairly similar. I get around 5 hours screen on time with 1-2 days of sleep time.

For me getting even 4hrs is requiring me to disable apps, use greenify to kill background apps, and use min brightness. I tried factory resets, so doing those over and over isn't improving my battery. Honestly I just want a new phone with the battery life of my G2, since development is slowing down for it.

Now hold on guys. Even if this phone has some battery issues, we can all still say that this phone is very acceptable. Right?

Besides battery I don't have any performance complaints. This is the main aspect I complain about. I'm still impressed that mine rarely warms up, signal is better than my G2, the battery cover has the brushed look like my Asus laptop, and so on.

If both models are available to me for the same price, which is the better choice?
Apart from the dual sim feature, does one have any advantage over the other (root, update timing, battery life, cpu usage, case availability, etc)?
Root is available for both models, update may be available slightly sooner to single sim, battery is also better, but marginally, no case difference. So, it only comes to a single point, do you need a phone with 2 sims, if not go for single sim variant...

Single Sim is Quick Charge compatible and and If you get Quick Charger bundled with phone, it will charge 0 to 100% in 2 hours.
Dual Sim is not supporting Quick Charge, it will take 4 hour to charge 0 to 100%
There is no other differences.

Okay that was a waste of my money for the car. Im sooo annoyed the phone was on 25 percent charge and even though its a 2.4A output charger in my car (with quick charge support as well which is obviously useless) using navigation my phone just died. I just disliking this phone more and more.

Why do you dislike the phone more and more only because yours doesn't support quick charge? Unless you have encountered other problems with it. But, you could get a navigation system, or?

because compared to my z2 its a lot more hassle. I can't even charge it fast enough without it dying cause the cpu governor or screwed up. It gets really hot yet its slow. And for the fact it doesn't support quick charge for no apparent reason. I mean the hardware is close to identical to the single sim and yet its worse off.
I mean come on I hardly go a day on this. My z2 would sometimes go 2.5

C'mon , it's not that bad... I had Z2 too, and battery is indeed worse, but not twice worse... My usual SOT is 4.5h (full battery usage) and I usually end my day with battery at around 30℅. OK, with Z2, it was 50℅ , but nevertheless...
Regarding heating up, I don't have these issues, but I don't play games, or record 4K videos, if you do, that it's expected...

I've recorded normal hd video with h264 and the app shot off at 1:59 saying its now overheated. That is not acceptable in my eyes.

I just ordered this phone top replace my Verizon Z3v. I am going to miss wireless charging but you say you "charge it mostly using qi charger".
This phone is Qi compatible?

I regret bying this phone ine the first place... But the single sim is probably better with the quick charge 2.0 and less battery drain.
The single sim does as well have a lot more developers, since more people own a single sim than a dual sim.
In my case, stay away from the phone, but I'f you really want it, get the single sim!!
