I am thinking about moving back to kitkat - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I really didn't like lollipop, its clearly not battery efficient for me. Which kitkat rom you guys can suggest to me? currently using purity rom with hellscore kernel with batmax. I am not in position of charging my phone 3 times a day thats why i need to give it a try. There was really long lasting roms while lollipop didn't exist but can't remember their names. I dont play games just mobile data on sometimes and mostly i am using wifi.

Still on omnirom after many custom rom of lollipop and kit Kat. The problem that Omni and slim have offered me is that I still cannot change my phone with something better cause I really like them too much and l
Before buying for example LG g2 I have checked for those pure and simple and customizable roms [emoji4]

Purity kitkat + HellsCore for me, tried with F2FS but didn't notice that much gain

Noob question, do i need to flash stock 4.4.4 img to flash custom kitkat rom since i am on custom 5.1.1?

instead of moving to kitkat. i gave franco kernel a try. its doing well for now.

My favorite KitKat ROM is LiquidSmooth. It has a lot of good features and optimizations, fastest KitKat ROM IMO.

Which ROM to run on Nexus 4

I got my Nexus 4 yesterday and I've been using an S3 for a month or so running CM 10.1
Should I flash CM 10.1 on my Nexus 4, or will there be a new version that will soon be released pertaining to 4.2.2?
How stable is CM on the Nexus 4? I had a few issues with it on the S3. Will it be as reliable as stock?

The CM ROM for the N4 is stable, I've been using it for a while and haven't had any problems.
I think the latest nightly has the 4.2.2 updates in it already.
Which ROM to use is kind of personal though and depends on what you want, take a look at the ROMs in the threads and you will see quite a few choices, and then there are even a lot of different kernels too so there are plenty of choices.
Rasbean Jelly or Xenon HD. Both are stable as can be.

I personally love SlimBean. Right now I'm using my Slim-Star ROM (PM me for details and download link) which is based off of SlimBean.

In these kind of threads a lot of ROMs always are mentioned. I think you can better take a look around the forum and decide for yourself.

I found the best ROM for me by installing the popular ones for a few days each then picking the one I liked the most.
I'm using PA 3+ (ParanoidAndroid), It's CM 10 based, this rom has Hybrid UI (Table UI, Stock UI, etc) and have a lot of colors improvements and the best feature is the PIE control that is really awesome.
You can check PA 3+ here and you can check the development forum for all the other roms available.
Good Luck! =)
I'll probably just go with CM since its what I'm used to. Don't have time right now to try a bunch of different things.
My phone currently isn't rooted. Can someone link a good guide on how to root and install CM?
No

If you want to do the process yourself here is the guide, if not here is a toolkit.
And here is CM 10.1 with instructions.
Good Luck and Enjoy! =)
Cm10.1 4.2.2 no doubt

I don't like CM10. I find stock smooth, and I think when RasbeanJelly is updated to 4.2.2 base, you should use that.

[Q] How can I flash Stock Android on my Note 3?

I really hate TouchWiz and after looking into X-Note I'm still not on that bandwagon. So what ROM should I be looking for, for stock Android? I would say CyanogenMod but idk if that has a stable Note 3 build. I could be wrong though so thats why I'm reaching out to the XDA Community. Thanks.

To flash stock android download stock firmware and flash using odin
If I understand you correctly, you want something aosp'ish, more like the google experience? Im not too fond of touchwiz either so I'm running carbon ROM and I think its pretty stable.. They do have cm nightlife though and I think they're fairly stable.

[Q] I don't have any customization features?

Hi, I am new to PA and recently flashed it to my Nexus 4. However when I booted for the first time I looked in settings and it was basically like using stock. Yes PA is installed. I have some screenshots of my settings showing that there is Paranoid Settings are nowhere to be seen and it is most definitely installed and not a stock ROM. I really need help and I know I probably made a noobie mistake. What should I have done?
You should read the change log thread like the first post in the device thread tells you to
#stayparanoid
Downgrade to 3.* and stay on it.

Include what feature?
You really should read up on why we did it the way we did. Don't expect a dedicated settings screen, and don't expect a whole bunch of features that other Roms have. That's not what we're trying to do here

I got it dude, may i miss some point on changelog
Lately i use pa as daily rom because the smoothness and fast

Rom : Quantum Os v4.1.0

Are custom ROMS better than the stock one on the moto g?
Is the memory leak still present in the 5.1.1 based ones?

People have said that custom ROMs are slightly better than the Stock one given the inherent bugs in stock 5.0.2.
For me personally, I like to keep everything stock.
I am using CM12.1 By Luk
Kernel: Optimus Kernel R2
Along with that I am using the multitasking script by @DiamondBond
Phone runs smooth... Better than stock. I think that ROMS need time to settle and once they are they work buttery smooth.
If you want such experience in stock, flash stellar kernel. And use the script if u want. I play asphalt on medium graphics with no problem with these customizations . High graphics do work but the game crashes in tokyo and china maps

How is battery life on Titan Prime ?
Does dual SIM work without any bugs ?
CM12.1 + Gapps Minimal + SuperSU
Nicely setup so i can download OTA's and flash without re-configuring anything and no extra zips to flash.
CM 12.1 with its own kernel
CM 12.1, its own kernel, Delta GApps that include addon.d scripts so no need to reflash GApps.
I also "cooked" 3 of my own flash scripts that place addon.d scripts and they survive OTA updates without the need to reflash 'em.
These are:
* Latest Motorola Camera
* Latest Motorola Gallery
* Script that adds 2 lines in build.prop that enable Miracast and force launcher into memory.
cm12.11 +optimus kernel R2 running awesome. I also flash 7 extra zips and reboot once more after every nightly update. (yes, 7 extra zips )

Whats the different about the multitask script? it works?
CM 12.1 a thousand times faster than Android L 5.0.2 from Motorola and no battery drain issues.
Loving it since I installed

I don't recommend using it on stock ROM as it makes it lag after a lot of use. But, on CM12.1, **** it makes the phone multitask. I also recommend using optimus kernel .

I'm on TP with stellar too and the battery life is, well... Stellar
Especially when you follow my guide 'how to get the best battery life possible on your moto g'
IMO TP is the most stable ROM out there at the moment, and even though it is still on 5.0.2 there are still elements of 5.1.1 cooked in. Shawn will be updating to 5.1.1 soon though afaik

Thank you for such an excellent guide regarding battery life and to shawn for such a great rom.

What is the current best aosp rom for n9005?

Last time I tried an aosp rom it had major battery drain issues so I went back to stock. Is there any current aosp rom that works well as a daily driver and with decent battery life?
I logged in to ask the same question. I am approaching the end of my two years warranty. I have a N9005, rooted, and I'd love to move on to the latest Android version, mainly for security reasons. Alas, I've never in my life installed a ROM on an Android smartphone, so apart from the original question, I would really like a "for dummy guide" as to how best to proceed without losing data.
I have tried many but always come back to a TW Rom. Look for AryaMod 8.1 as a great balance between features and the stability you need for a daily driver! There is a later version but not stable enough for me yet.
Use the OFFICIAL CM12.1 Rom, install xposed, and amplify and its amazing.
Is there an official CM 12.1 release now? I always thought there were only nightlies. I look here: http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=hltexx&type=
Should I look elsewhere?
This Amplify? http://amplifyandroid.com/
I use what you can see in my sig and love it ^^
