What is the current best aosp rom for n9005? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Last time I tried an aosp rom it had major battery drain issues so I went back to stock. Is there any current aosp rom that works well as a daily driver and with decent battery life?

I logged in to ask the same question. I am approaching the end of my two years warranty. I have a N9005, rooted, and I'd love to move on to the latest Android version, mainly for security reasons. Alas, I've never in my life installed a ROM on an Android smartphone, so apart from the original question, I would really like a "for dummy guide" as to how best to proceed without losing data.

I have tried many but always come back to a TW Rom. Look for AryaMod 8.1 as a great balance between features and the stability you need for a daily driver! There is a later version but not stable enough for me yet.

Use the OFFICIAL CM12.1 Rom, install xposed, and amplify and its amazing.

Is there an official CM 12.1 release now? I always thought there were only nightlies. I look here: http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=hltexx&type=
Should I look elsewhere?
This Amplify? http://amplifyandroid.com/

I use what you can see in my sig and love it ^^

I use the miui v7 ROM on my n9005, great battery life and loads of customising options

What ROM are you using and why?

Hi all! Here you can share what ROMs you use on the Moto X Play device. Why have you chosen that ROM, what's the name? And if you want link the download for other users to see! :good:
RR - Best stability, Best customistaion
XDrom, for privacy reasons
1) rr
2) krexus
3) tesla
4) xosp
all with multirom
Just for fun, I'm a flashaholic.
I use XOSP ROM at the moment as big fan of sony xperia software. Might try some of your suggestions as well though.
Custom Rom: RR the best, stability, customitation, battery life!!
Stock Rom: Epsilon v1 : stability like a stock with included squid kernel
Its so personal. I like it simple and clean. Stock or debloated roms only. Mostly i get lost in all the extra settings and menu's and realize I never gonna use and need all this extra stuff that ruins my sot and return to stock the next day.

I find that as well, although have started experimenting with those settings. I am now experimenting with the Resurrection Remix ROM. You should definitely check and experiment with the settings at some point.

Yup, its the most feature rich rom. Happy experimenting. Why i chose RR is because there are no bugs for me like the camera hdr bug or inability to store to sd card through inbuilt cam. Also its officially supported by themes.
Stock ROM with Xposed because I like the stability and battery life is good.
Cyanogenmod 13 and RR are good but their battery is really bad,im on stock and is the best.
i always end up back on stock + xposed on all phones i got .
For me the best is plain CM13. Has all the features I use and more and most roms use it as basis for varous thins like security updates.

I don't give heed to SOT now. Although it between 5+ hrs i guess.
AICP. 'Cos the OTA update works, and the nighties mostly keep up with the latest CM13 updates. And AICP Extras!

Rom Suggestions | Battery life and performance

Hello there,
Simple question for those who test a lot of roms, I just want some suggestions for a good rom in terms of performance and battery life.. I dont care about anything else.
I know there is no such thing as "best rom", I'm simply asking for suggestions. Each rom has its own greatness and users. If I had the time I would test myself and see..
Thanks in advance..
Stock rom is the answer .

True. Stock is best for note 3.
Agreed. Stock 5.0 rom on my n900t runs pretty much flawlessly. Good battery life and performance.

Just wondering how you handle the recent apps lag? Is there a workaround? Or do you just put up with it? It seems to be present in all TW LP 5.0 stock ROMs.
I don't use stock roms .
Try a note 5 lollipop port rom. Because samsung cleaned up TouchWiz in their later phones it runs very quick. Better than stock roms imo. No recents lag either. I'm using phronesis note 5 port. You should try it. I'd stay away from their MarshMellow version though as I had a lot of problems on that version.
In my personal experience :
For lollipop based ROM try phronesis 6.5 with idlekernel 6.6.3/7.1.0. It is the most stable and best battery life for me.
For marshmallow based ROM which I currently used try aurora note 7 port or phronesis note 7 port with darklord kernel newux 2.0
Every ROM has drawbacks. In my experience, Aryamod 8.3 was the best experience I've had. It had good battery life, good performance. The only problem is the recent apps lag, which is present on all TW 5.0 ROMs.
Phronesis is good too, but you lose the Note 3 camera. You only have the app, but it doesn't have any of the post-processing, so your pictures don't look as good as stock. Same with AOSP (Temasek, Purify/RR, Slim, unofficial CM).
The best is probably stock Kitkat or MIUI7 (if you can handle the UI), but both are vulnerable to Stagefright, so aren't as secure.
i tried a lot of roms almost all have some battery drain
im using asop slim 6 now and i like it although no spen features
Please Help.
Hello everyone!
I am new in the community.
I have a problem that whenever I dial my service providers helpline 111 from my samsung galaxy note 3 korean sm-n900s. It dial it as emergency number and drop the call after a while.
I am using spacex rom.
Is there any way to remove that number from emergency list of my phone.
Or someone can tell me that in which file these numbers were saved, so I can edit that numbers.
Thanks.

PureNexus vs Android N 7.1 DP

Hi guys,
I'm currently torn between PureNexus and Nougat 7.1. Currently I'm stock, unrooted with bootloader locked. Basically as good as factory piece.
I had made my mind up to flash PureNexus, then I read about Google releasing DP of 7.1 to N6P.
I'm not able to decide on either of these now.
Would there be any noticeable changes from 7.0 to 7.1 or would you go on and flash PureNexus!!!???

I'll tell you the truth,, there is nothing special about PureNexus nougat rom...i Flashed PN, used it for 1 day and went back to stock nougat + franco's kernel.
I found the google apps works better on stock than the AOSP apps on PureNexus.
The "life" of one battery cycle isn't too much different between those two...
About dp 7.1 , I ain't sure that there is some one who can answer your question about it, there is no any specific info about that... all you can do is flash the DP when it'll roll out and than decide - keep it or not.
Best regards,

He means the Google apps run better on stock. In other words the "Gapps" and I noticed it too. Apps don't install as fast from the play store. Don't get me wrong pn is a great rom. I'll probably use it instead of stock some day. But rn. There is too many new updates coming to the Nexus device. One of the main reasons to have a nexus is to have all the latest versions and features earlier. That's wasted with pn. Maybe after 7.1 is on stable and Pn is on a stable version of 7.1 I'll switch. But right now . I'm on 7.1

The AOSP based phone app for example is old compared to google markets one, keeping both make no sense , freeze the AOSP phone app will broke the whole calling "system".
The overall experience on stock apps vs AOSP version is much better, nothing missing, fully functional, if u don't like something you can just disable it with no issues (of freeze with TB)
I never liked the AOSP based Roms, there is always something old and undone... You can bring the same results of battery life of stock , just change kernel, freeze some apps and disable some services and you're ready to go.
The best way to choose is to try them both, than decide what's better for you.

Ahh I see what you mean. Yeah aosp apps tend to be outdated. On PN I flash OpenGapps and get rid of everything AOSP app wise.

ROM recommendations

Hi, looking for advice on which rom to use. I had a Samsung note 2 running cm13 (thanks to people on this forum) which I loved using. Due to the phone currently not running I snapped up a note 3 and now looking to see what's available for this.
Would I be right in thinking there's a cm 14 ROM that would be similar but newer/upgraded.? Looking for a daily stable ROM.
Thanks for any advice.

Why would you opt for a generic CM rom when you can get an N7 or N5 port (on the Note 3, anyway)?
I would go with an N5 port or if you want something newer, N7 which could come with some small little details. If everything fails, just go with stock. Most stable of them all!
Good luck.
i would recommend for pac rom lp 5.1.1 that is the most stable one! i have already try another marshmallow and nougat rom but i think for it is not still stable even marshmallow have been stabled

I'll have a look at the ports. I had a good experience with cm 13 so that's why I'm keeping it in mind. Thanks

Right now, if you want Nougat based ROMs, Resurrection Remix Nougat(RRN) would be your best shot. Not only does it have a great amount of customisations, but it is very stable as far as I know. What's more, if you flashed the Xenial kernel(find it in the development forum) alongside the ROM, you will have awesome battery life. That's my experience with that this ROM, after using it for more than three months.

Please recommend the most stable Android 10 rom

Itching to try Android 10.
Which is the most stable rom?
Thanks.
Using Havoc now, ok so far.
But I'm not using it much because backup phone only.
Better read other use post in the thread as well.
Well, there's no such thing as "stable rom" in my opinion. Almost every Android 10 ROM by now is stable enough to be a daily driver. But it goes without saying that you will be facing few bugs because that's how Custom ROMs are.
Tip: Try any ROM(s) and find what suits you best
Try EvolutionX.

Evolution Rom,
Using Havoc (Latest build) + Bit Gapps for a week now! No major issues found, though you may see casual freezes (got them mostly in Chrome, maybe app issue) and slow charging. Using stock kernel and not rooted.
Everybody thank you for your suggestions.
I have been using custom roms since Android Ice cream sandwich but believe it or not official Custom Roms on my old Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 literally had 0 bugs , but now in newer phones custom roms always have 1 or 2 quirks that forces me change it.
Well as for the Zenfone, all I want is stable gcam support and less lag than stock rom. I don't have too many demands. The reason I go back to stock rom is that, for some weird reason, Mobile data didn't work too well(pie roms). Vodafone 4g took tooooo long to turn on and speeds were terrible, absolutely unusable.
Didn't try 10 roms, so may be they might be better in this aspect.
