I am thinking what if someone stole my mobile and he is a tech savvy, he will reset my mobile through odin. And may be he can change that IMEI number. The worst thing is that he can access my personal data after that.
May be he can't do this. But who knows this wouldn't happen? In our world there are so many retailers in contact with thiefs. And they can flash any mobile.
But what if my mobile is not going into recovery and download mode? ?????
So is there any way to lock down or disabled those hard keys (volume and power)?
Hey @Danny_Dewet help me. @sev3n1985 bro do you have a solution for me?
is there anyone?

Disabling any way to recover your phone would be counterproductive for yourself as well.
What about setting up "Android Device Manager"? If your phone is stolen, you can erase all your phone's data from a PC.
No volume & power=no usable phone. Any stolen phone can be erased with google account and blocked by your operator

I know that. But i just want if it's possible what i asked? Then it can be possible that one can bargain for returning his/her mobile because that bl**** theif will never be able to reset that mobile. And if he wouldn't be able to reset it, he wouldn't be able to sell it. There should has to be a way of this type of locking. Any method which can be undone by a password or code.
Erasing and blocking through google is good but after that forget about your mobile you will never get it back.
And top of that if such method invented ever it will be a v tough for thiefs to get money by stolen mobiles.
I know that person can throw your mobile away but how many? When every mobile completely locked down he should have to quit his profession

I know. See my above post please.
But tell me if my mobile has some vvvvv important data. More important than my life and someone want to hurt me. And what if he get me drunk or anything like that. What then? That bast*** can reset my mobile and do whatever he wants.
Why mobile are manufacturers not giving us such options to locked mobile down completely?
And if erasing and blocking through thier Internet systems are the best abd final answer to the thiefs then why the hell are those thiefs still active? Why? Why is the mobile snatching rate so high?

If you want to disable hardware keys the best way is building a new kernel and disable them, next try to build up a recovery with pass code but you've a new problem... how to disable download mode? It's impossible, for now.

That's the thing. We can't. But there has to be some ways.... if those manufacturers don't want to give us an option to disable it then why are they ignoring a password protected download mode?
They can set it right? Am i wrong?
And for keys i am saying just like you but you were talking about download mode directly.
Look i am the owner of a mobile so it's my right to have full protection over my mobile. Mobile's main page is protected but the way of creating that page is not protected. Is it funny? Or sad one?

hi everyone
loving the site, really some good stuff on here. i'm gutted i missed out on the wavesecure beta by two days. i downloaded it off the web when it was still in beta but installed it off android market first forgetting that the beta had ended.
if i had installed the saved pc version would that have worked? and if so is there a way of wiping it completely off the phone (if i uninstall it and reinstall it remembers that i've installed it previously)
otherwise, i think i'll just have to pay the subscription, just gutted i missed out by two days . . .

Garbage app. Can be removed by anyone knowing about these forums. Even their new addon was gone from my phone in less that a minute this morning. Save your money.
Why is it garbage? Is there a free/better alternative?

He's calling it garbage because anyone with a little know how can just uninstall the app, rendering it useless.
Programs like Wave Secure are great; but they need to be uninstallable.
but most would be thieves wouldn't have the know how, plus the phone can be locked as soon as u can get to the internet.
unless u mean it can be uninstalled once the phone is locked, hard reset maybe?

Most mobile phone thieves wouldn't have a clue how to uninstall it or do a hard reset, but they DO know enough to turn it off right away, and LEAVE it off until they've sold it on.
The buyer almost certainly WILL know what to do to disable such security measures. The only way to truly prevent it, is for the program to be in ROM, so it can't be disabled. You may as well just call your operator and get the IMEI disabled.

Try using wavesecure for locking your phone in case it's stolen. I think it tells you where the phone is and stuff too. And it locks the phone as soon as someone trys changing the sim. Give it a shot.. i liked it.

It'll ask you for a password. So you can enter that and you'll be in.
I'm now using the SlideIT keyboard - where you slide your finger through all the letters of the word you want to type and it works it out for you and pop's it right in there... it's so very cool to use.. makes me smile everytime I use it.! I can type quicker than I ever did now.
and Hendcent for text messages - it's much more natural to use than the standard.
HI guys,
Something came to my mind and wanted to share it with you...
its how to protect my device after being stollen?
I know there are plenty of apps to find the device( through gps remote activation), to erase the contents and release alerts through different ways.
BUT WHAT IF
somebody had stolen your phone , pull out the battery, then boot it into download mode (3 buttons combination that every one knows), and finally flashed it with any rom by using ODIN ???????
the question here;
IS THERE ANY WAY TO PASSWORD PROTECT THE ACCESS TO BOTH RECOVERY &/OR DOWNLOAD MODES IN THE DEVICE, SO IT CAN BE USELESS FOR THE THEIF ???
i hope u understand my worry here
cheers
Just call your carrier and report it stolen so the IMEI gets blacklisted, a useless toy to most thieves (unless they are smart enough to change the IMEI but most aren't).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMEI
PS: Please, the is really no need for huge fonts and colors, most of us can see just fine.

Think again. Every service has JTAG. so... isn't the password useless after all?
The best way top protect your phone is to keep your eyes on the device.

As said before already exist many apps useful for retrieve our device if stolen, but all these apps need the GPS turned on.
What if if it's tuned off? Does exist an app that can turn on GPS in a remote way? (by sms for instance)

Was the file you needed on the thing you plugged in? Is that why you plugged it in or was that an unnecessary step?
Not sure this goes along with the rules on XDA and security in general. There is a reason you no longer have access to a device. We can't and should not take the risk and guess what that reason might be. At all times we should assume an unauthorized access attempt. Especially in this case. Reported (under reserve).
A genious o.o

First, thanks to vn_mobile for sharing.
Second, here's a quicker way
Install Quick Shortcut by OTG as per the OP
Then search for "reset"
Select Settings, MasterClearActivity, Try
Reset Phone
Done!!
Great, I now can make a list of XDA members I know are morons. Let's hope they also have social media info in their profiles.

Maybe because this Exploit has been fixed and Google won`t let you bypass the FRP like that forever. It never worked on ALL devices.

It appears there's no Samsung Find My Mobile settings on my S7 edge. There's no way to control/change Remote Controls, SIM Change Alert, and Reactivation Lock. I know there's alternatives out there but I actually like using this service.
On my S6 edge, they were under Settings > Lock Screen and Security > Find My Mobile.
Anybody find these settings?
Quick check of AT&T manual versus Verizon manual shows Verizon's manual makes no mention of the settings to enable this feature. AT&T'S manual does show the setting being present in the settings app security settings.
Samsung's "Find my mobile" web portal has a help feature describing how to tell if your device can be used with Find my mobile.
The Verizon variant truly does seem to lack support for it, since the options for enabling it are not found where Samsung's help feature says they will be on feature-capable devices.
You can go third party like Cerebrus or use Google's Android Device Manager to replicate some, but not all, of this feature's capabilities.
I'm sure no one will be surprised to learn that Verizon sells a premium version of their pre-installed basic VZ Protect feature that includes device location for a monthly fee.
I simply cannot believe the degree to which Samsung has agreed to cripple this flagship device's features to meet this carrier's demands. Were I the Samsung executive that handled these arrangements, I would have told Verizon they would receive no accommodations for device configuration that differed from any other American carrier and let them decide if they wanted to be the only major carrier unable to offer the device to their customers.

I went to Android Device Manager and my s7 Edge was there without me having to have done anything - I could locate it and remote ring/wipe it.
This is one thing I wish was on the phone - iPhones you cant reactivate without an iCloud password even if you wipe it. This needs to exist through Google or Samsung.

Once you set up your Google account you can't use the phone without the account info after wiping. Well unless you use one of the hacks, but they get squashed as Google releases new versions.
