Opinions on how can we influence on Samsung - Galaxy S6 General

Just yesterday I was talking to a friend about XDA community and rooting ...
We have been talking in general topics regarding my S6 and how people expected this and that ... and how in the end update didn't give us what we/they wanted . And one of his lines was: come on, a regular user doesn't even knowe which android do they have and even more of them most sure don't knowe or need root access just to modify something ... And my question was : But there is plenty of us in a community that care or think they care about a 15 sec lag,or re-opening of the apps , or raw support ... and a good answer was: if samsung is selling 45 million devices there is only 1% of us that realy care about it in a sense that we can fix it by talking (or even rooting) and the rest in general wants a phone that works and if doesn't they call there operator or service and they try to fix it .
So now tell me your opinion on how much there is us that care about it and what do you think we can make a diference in that respect?

I don't really know anything about a 15 second lag, or care about RAW as it's a waste of time for 99% of users including myself, but the apps reloading happens on lots of phones and has always happened on Galaxy phones, at least all the ones i've ever owned.
What I do know is that the S6 is one of the fastest and most feature packed phones out of the box and barring a HTC One, stays just as fast after weeks and weeks of use.
I personally can't see any need to influence Samsung as people get along with Rooting etc without their help.
As for CM and AOSP, crippling a device like an S6 with a rom like that, you may as well buy a Nexus because that's what you'll end up with installing Vanilla Rom's.
My opinion.

Sorry if this sounds like a troll (not my intention), but vote with your wallet. Buy a phone that allows you to do the things you want. Samsung already sold you the phone; they don't care anymore. Complaining about it now won't change anything.

I don't think complaneing would help ... But in some important matters like ram we should ask fore more ... If they could have fix icon problem ... What is there stopping them to do the rest ....

Not just people on xda, there are oter forums ... And users in general ....

lol forget about it, we already tried that couple of years ago...

99% of users don't know what root is, never use a forum, some don't even download apps. Even a number of users that do know, still never root or use a forum. Very small number of users. Many of the features like Knox were requested and required by companies to secure their data.

Not going to work. In the S3 days somebody even made a petition.

Will pure AOSP Froyo ROM ever be a reality on Samsung Galaxy S devices?

Im thinking of getting a Epic 4g when they are released but Im very hesitant on this because what I have read about Samsung devices being "locked down". First off I prefer AOSP over touch wiz or sense, and I hoping to see this possible on theses devices someday. From what I have seen this may come down to a driver issue as they are encrypted by Samsung. I also want to use Wifi Tether too. Id like anyone who knows about theses devices to shed some light on this and help me make a decision. I dont understand why manufactures feel they need to put crap onto of Android when is more usable with out it. I just wish Samsung they just gave us the option of either roms.

This contradicts what I read elsewhere for the better Ill see if I can locate where I read this at, If this is the case why is there no custom roms besides Cyanogenmod? Where is a AOSP roms at? Or is the device just that new nothing is out yet? If this is true Ill be getting the Epic over the Evo
Wifi tether comes with the device, and I have to say I haven't had any problems with its use so far

Any devs that would care to comment on the possibility of a FroYo port for the SGS?

What nonsense
I'm a little confused about the situation with ROMs myself, coming from the Windows Mobile world. If the entire source to the build of Android on the Galaxy S is available, surely it's possible to change anything, theoretically? It also seems that the bootloader has no or negligible security as to what it can flash.
On the other hand, I've seen claims that it would be impossible to get Froyo or any future Android updates if Samsung don't release them first (I know they've committed to Froyo). Unless the driver model changes dramatically in Froyo, which I doubt since then new drivers would be required for every phone, why would it be any more difficult to port newer versions of Android to the Galaxy S than any other phone?

No, it's just that there are different components and layers which can be considered open or "locked down", and you both use different ones.
The bootloader for the samsung galaxy is not locked.
But there is an argument by the XDA forum member psychoace that some of the drivers for the galaxy S were not open sourced, and that in earlier android devices from samsung this made it very hard to create ROMs which are not based on Samsung's own ROMs.
As far as I know, this argument from psychoace was never countered, and so I see no reason not to believe it. (I did not look over the sources myself yet).
So can someone port new versions of Android over to the Galaxy S after Samsung has abandoned the device? I really don't know, but I wouldn't count on it, until someone who has experience with making custom ROMs says it is realistic.
The reason I state this is because other then the graphics, video playback, camera there is not much to shout about this device. The lagging is awful, it can't cope with multi tasking compared to say aswell the desire. The issue with the keyboard lagging. Internet crashing for no apparent reason. It seems as the samy gs cant handle the goodies packed into this device. No trackball, flash or led which is very useful.

as far as i understand it, the lagging issues are just because of the touchwiz and especially the samsung-widgets. removing the widgets and replacing the luncher with luncher-pro/adw will be the first thing i do when i have the device in my hands. on the other side: the hardware of the galaxy s is very good in my opinion!
@bookwormat:
i think you are wrong! i have read in some forums that samsung has released the drivers for 2.1 together with all other code! in fact i am just pulling the code (including the full kernel) from the samsung open source center (http://opensource.samsung.com/). it's huge, 148MB ... when it's finished i will give it a look an confirm what's in there and what not.
You might just want to take into consideration the fact that the Nexus and Desire had some problems as well right after launch.
The nexus took some time ( a couple of months) to set things straight, the Desire- A couple of weeks only. But it's understandable, since it's 95% identical to the nexus, so HTC probably knew what is going to be problematic.
Also, you're taking things to major extremes. You make it sound like the device is catastrophically slow to the level of being unuseable, and crashes every 2 minutes.
Reality, well, is different. The longest lag i had personally is 1.5 seconds when loading asphalt 5. Every other lag when opening an app- less than half a second.
I'd also like you to refrain from stating one personal problem as a bug in the device, you are the only known member in this forum that is having trouble with the keyboard.
A little search in MoDaCo forums reveals that some users are reporting slight problems with the keyboard, but it's limited to Firmware JG01 only.
It's sad that instead of taking a moment to see if you can solve these problems or helping others find a solution, you preffer to bash the device in every occasion.
For some reason Riz is really down on his SGS and to such an extent that it seems he's got a grudge against the device. Sell it or trade it in if it really makes you that unhappy.
For me it's really an awesome phone that comes with some minor annoyances that seem entirely caused by the fact that it's brand new. So far it appears that Samsung is putting a lot of effort in maturing the software and I expect the issues to be solved within a matter of weeks. In all reality it would take about 10 minutes to setup a new phone and have it operate well without even upgrading any firmware. A simple switch to launcherpro followed by a root with update.zip and then installing autokiller (i use strict profile) will solve 99% of the lag problems.
Battery life is very good after the first initial cycles.
GPS doesn't work right you may all ***** about that.
I'm sure I would be happy with the new HTC's, or even the iphone 4 (the thought of buying into apple's nasty attitude does make me cringe a bit) but I would still choose the SGS again providing they fix the gps.
Perhaps I'm being over critical but there are serious flaws with this device, there is no denying this.
GPS not working - there doesn't seem to be a solution, can't use copilot or googlemaps.
Lagging/freezing - changed to launcher pro not as bad but still occurs.
I hope the boys at samy are working hard to find fixes for these problems. If there are solutions then please guide me to them.
Don't get me wrong this device has potential and there alot of good features but due to issues mentioned above it just ruins the users experience.
I paid good money for this device not so that I could put it down but to use it. I'm just stating my experience for the benefit of others who maybe considering to buy this device.
If there are solutions wonderful p

Download the update.zip file from this thread.
Or direct link here
Copy the file to the internal storage card of the phone using Kies or whatever method you like.
Disconnect the usb cable
Turn off the phone
Press and hold these buttons at the same time: volume up+home+power, keep them pressed until you see the samsung logo.
Use volume rocker to navigate to update.zip and then press home to select.
Phone will reboot and you are now rooted with superuser.
The whole process takes less than 5 minutes.
I'm not responsible for anything
I like the phone but there are problems
1.keyboard has dup presses... solved with HTC keyboard. Also l key in portrait mode doesn't always work.
2. Gps lock not as good or reliable as my I 8910
3. StallING.. fix fixed it the only program that has a lag to load is sygic.
4. Image resizing not working well in gallery and web.
5. Still doesn't always switch back to 3g from edge. Jg1 is better than previous.

Personal Review after using the Samsung for 7 days

Dears,
I would like to share with you my experience in the Samsung Galaxy S II after using it for one full week. My previous cell phone was Nokia N900 and I was owning too a Samsung Galaxy Tab. Currently I have my lovely Samasung Galaxy S II after losing the Nokia and Selling the Tab
So let us go into the subject, find below my personal review and please share yours as well but i want to highlight that I am a heavy user in terms of the following:
- Performing at least 2 hours of voice calling during the day (3G coverage - GSM).
- The mail is always in a sync mode (GMail and Yahoo).
- Gtalk, Yahoo messenger and Tango is always on.
- Surfing the web at least one hour a day.
- Heavy Twitter user @fadimck (if you like to follow ).
- Capturing at least 15 to 20 images.
Now let us check the performance in the first week:
First two days, the battery last for only half a day.
This was due to playing a lot with the setting and downloading all my previous stuff on the Market/Aptoide.
The last three days I started to use it with the normal pattern but i noticed a drain of the battery as it was disconnected at 7PM !!
I started to analyze every application to check which one is draining the battery and finally it was Twitter where it was on a push mode accordingly it was pushing Tweets all the time.
Since i switched off the push notification the battery is lasting since early morning (6:30AM) till now (8:10PM) and still 20% remaining and still using it with the above mentioned normal usage of mine.
Let us now share the experience of the OS:
- The interface is Ok and have no customization from Samsung and I like this since this makes the device faster.
- The camera quality is amazing and inndoor shots are great.
- Touch screen is similar to my previous iPhone 4.
- Like the swype Keboard than the stock one.
- Arabic support is amazing.
- Stock browser in not good accordingly i use Dolphin instead.
- Default office program is better than the one in the Tab where you can create 2007 documents.
- The weight is considered nothing.
- Working with the display in the sun is a real fun.
- Louspeakers are more than fine..
- Playing music on it is a different experience.
- Playing HD movies on it is great and i am waiting to test the TV out (since i don't have the kit now i will wait for a while)
That's for now and I will review it more in another week
I will post another post about the important applications to have but it will be in another discussion.
So please share with us your experience ....
Reserved for Future
You realize there's a half-dozen posts with hundreds of pages of discussion on battery life and AOS not being suspended properly?
Thanks for posting, ive got my GS2 a few months now and it's running flawlessly, on medium usage with Juice Defender Ultimate i can achieve very good battery life, was definitely worth the mucho €€€ i paid for it
II know and read most of them but i wanted to share mine

The review is good and helps people who are thinking getting the s2, xda is a discussion forum, a review is a discussion about a phone so what's the problem
I've been a member of xda for years and to be honest I don't know what's wrong with members all I see now is "already discussed don't you use search", "your question is in the wrong forum", "why have you started a new thread"... Why can't people say thank you for sharing your experience, or why can't senior members just help the person asking instead of criticising? If a member doesn't like a thread IGNORE IT......
I for one who is very well versed on the forum find the search system on the xda application hard work and unless you can search on a pc which isn't always possible repeat questions may be asked. This week I'm away and I committed a foopar by daring to ask a repeat question because I couldn't find what I was looking for jes did I regret it!
Thank you for sharing your review its very helpful for anyone thinking about getting the s2.....

I'm not sure what you mean mate by OS do you mean Android OS or something else?
I've had the phone about 10 days and I am a confessed phone junkie and this phone is the best phone in the world period. People who complain about nanosecond battery life or damaged units they received is another matter. Phone vs phone there is no phone that comes close when it comes to sheer power. Liking the OS is a subjective issue. As far as rating the PHONE and how it PERFORMS, it's as close to flawless in my opinion as you are going to find.

I agree with everything except the browser. I've always used third party browsers but I switched back to stock the last couple of days and stock is much faster and a lot less buggy than all of the third party browsers. And I've tried them all.
I think going back to something after trying something else makes you appreciate it all the more
Wish I could use stock browser.....but it defaults to mobile site display (stupid Samsung) and I hate that. Boat browser mini is amazing btw. Fastest on Android.

you need the user agent mod mate you can set it to desktop all the time
i love the sgs2 and the in-built browser is the icing on the cake for me
leomar2.6 and his kitchen app are immense and the support he gives is so much better then samung , htc , nokia , etc etc
its the 1st android device that i have felt ticked all my boxes and its easily the best phone ive had and i am a bit of a phone addict
i dont see a problem with user reviews either , i sometimes find them more helpfull then the big websites reviews as most are honest reviews , some are filled with fanboy stuff and others with new gadget love but most are an interesting read and its good to get different opinions before forking out £500 on a device or signing a 2 year contract
hope everyone has a good day
Nice little short-term overview, As some others, I agree about the stock browser being superior (in my opinion to all other platforms), certainly in speed and rendering.
Your comment on the OS looks a little misinformed? Samsung heavily customise the default android experience with their touchwiz overlay and framework.. However I personally feel it's very intuitive and certainly superior to motorola/htc's interferences with the vanilla android interface.
I'm currently using Cyanogenmod myself, although I'll hopefully be returning to stock when the 2.3.4 (or 5) update is oficially released.
RE: stock browser -
Your talking about entering the 'debug:useragent ' in the address box right...or is there an apk/zip mod?!
Entering that script doesn't stick tho...and becomes a pain.
If there IS a permanent mod 'fix' tho that enables desktop displays by default please let me know, cause gingerbread browser is great.
(but seriously,in lieu of stock, I've done fairly extensive multi site download tests and that boat browser mini is better (faster) than any third party browsers, and eqalled if not better our stock browser in download completion.
Thanks

"Counting" developers

Hi all, i'm going to buy this device, probably, but i'm a bit scared by its particularity.
I fear that not so many devs will pick it up and support for long time...who's here, apart from Chainfire (great guy, but he develops root methods mostly, not full roms or super optimized kernel, he shows the way to others )?
Supercurio (another great dev, but with specific attention to color/sound and not to full roms, again) could come up later (he doesn't seem the "0 day" buyer ), or at least i hope so, and i think Cyanogen will come pretty soon (but could it be with S-Pen full support or not?), but then?
Is it out in USA or not yet?
Sorry for all the questions (they may sound even dumb, i know), but continuous development is the only main "?" i'm facing before the purchase (my galaxy s1, far from being perfect, gained incredible improvements from devs' work)
Same doubts here... How about developers who have the device/are about to buy comment on this thread, that way we can know about the kind of developer support we can expect.
It took 7 months for the GSII to come to the US. I wouldn't cross my fingers.
I'm running rooted stock right now and I am already getting better battery, performance than my S2, and loving this HD screen!

But when I bought the SGSII in June 1st week, a lot of development was already taking place. The Note is following the same launch trajectory: UK>Europe>India>South-East Asia> then rest of the world. Now that it's available in India, I don't see many developers who have adopted the device.

The op was asking if the Note was in the US, wasn't responding to you.
Why run custom ROMs when the system is already godly? Anyways just look at the At&t ****rocket, it is a piece of **** that At&t created and it is still getting devs.
If you think development is a problem, there's a simple solution... go with your gut. No one here can tell you what to do, the Note runs faster and smoother than my GSII that has cooked roms. Cooked ROMs can increase some aspects, but mess up others. Once someone zipaligns and adds some init'd scripts, I'll be happy.

I was asking for availability to US developers, i'm european and very keen to buy this beautiful tabphone (hoping to be able to manage it, i like big screens, but this is just bigger ).
I'm glad it runs so well (but i tried it in store and it didn't look so incredibly smooth, i hope it was due to idiots who mess up everything with their sticky hands ), but i hope to see some customization soon (not only custom samsung roms, that are indeed kinda pointless, but cyano, miui, and hopefully mods of these two roms, deeply modified kernels and so on...ICS )
I have to kind of agree, I really see no reason to put a custom rom on the note, everything just works. I wouldn't mind some themes for when things get a little stale but don't really see a need for a rom.
I have been flashing Roms since 2005. The ONLY reason I would not installed a custom rom is the fear of losing the warranty. But since even that is not a problem usually now, I see no reason why not flashing a custom rom..
E.g: Some people want's to modify their cars, other not.. We respect everyone's opinion(if within reason) and preferences.
BUT: The option to have a Custom Kernel/ROM made by our skilled developers here for performance/optimization, stability and longer battery life and customizations? I would take that every time over the stock..

New To Android (Galaxy S3)

Well, I have been an iphone user for the last few years and finally made the switch. I customize everything, so I'm use to using Cydia and Winterboard. I have no idea if there is anything comparable.
So, my question is... As a beginner on this platform, where do I even start looking besides here to find out what I can do with rooting my phone, creating themes, or custom apps and tweaks.
Like I said, I'm very new too this, and have no idea where to look. I've tried searching, but some of the terms i'm not familiar with yet. The nice thing that I can see right now, is the reason's I jailbroke my iphone, the S3 does already, or I have figured out an easy alternative.
Any help in the right direction would be great! So far, I'm really glad I got rid of the iphone

XDA is probably the best source, but there are certainly plenty of other xda-like sites out there. RootzWiki is probably the biggest, but it seems like a handful of new ones pop up every day.
On top of that, I'd say try the obvious... google it! If you google something like "what can i do with my rooted android phone" you'll find a lot of good suggestions (articles by tech sites, as well as forum threads from people who have asked the same questions as you). Keep in mind though, Android advances pretty fast, and all phones are a little different so not everything you find may be relevant anymore. Example: You may find something that says screenshots are a good reason to root... but that's a standard feature now in ICS, and Samsung phones could do it all along. So just keep that in mind... some things you may find may be out of date.
Hey welcome to android. I too made the switch over a year ago and that's when I became a member here. I spent the better part of that sifting through all this site has to offer. I started with the captivate when the rooms for it were at their prime and I have upgraded to the s3. I don't know all there is to know about this stuff but I have not wrecked my phones yet. So with all that said I would recommend getting yourself familiar by reading the stickies. They some very nice tutorials. Also if your not sure about something qna section is good. Once you get the hang of all this you will see exactly why android is true open source. Jailbreaking for me got boring but rooting and flashing roms is always interesting. This site also has very friendly developers that love doing this stuff so that's also a huge help. Last but not least don't be afraid to ask. It may mean the difference between an awesome phone and nice looking paper weight from Korea

The great thing about Android is because you can do anything on it right out of the box compared to you having to jailbreak an iphone. Id suggest just going through different apps and what not in the app store and see what catches your eye
Honestly, I would recommend that you spend some serious time getting to know android and understanding all of the capabilities of your phone before you even consider rooting it (not to mention flashing a new ROM.
I am a long time Android user that has rooted and flashed many ROM's over the years, but the S3 is so good out of the box (imho) that I personally have no need or desire to even root it at this point. That may change in the future, but that's where I stand right now.
I guess my advice would be ... don't be in a huge hurry to start making massive changes to the device until you understand what you have. No need to risk killing that shiny new toy (yet).

Welcome,
Another source to check out is YouTube.
You can finds videos on
How to Root, How to use Odin, How to Flash, How to use apps like Titanium Backup, Root Explorer, etc..
Also I made a reference guide in the S2 forum when I had it that explain some of the lingo around here.
Study it

Welcome. I think maybe figure out what you'd like to do that you haven't figured out yet and search on xda or even Google. Its possible you may not need to root to achieve it. I root only to restore app plus its data from one android phone to the next. Without root it only restores app so for example with games it won't restore where I left of in the other device.

[Q] DUAL CAMERA SUPPORT - GT-i9505

Firstly, I'm NOT a Developer - I want to make that very clear
I have been trying to get data/info about what ever happened to the Original Samsung Galaxy S4 'TouchWiz'
Camera feature/ability to be able to 'Simultaneously' record videos (not talking about taking pictures here)
with both the front and back cameras on the phone.
This question has been asked before by a very very very small number of people on the net including in XDA
developers forums, However these questions only have been asked on forums relating to NEXUS phones/devices.
When i originally bought my S4 (second hand) i used the recording feature, i absolutely love it, i think it it brilliant,
it is one of the reasons why the S4 has such appeal for me.
I later upgraded to CyanogenMod, because of privacy concerns relating to Samsungs Involvement with the NSA over
their KNOX security.
The OS seemed fine to me, but this security concern was the basis of WHY i moved over to CyanogenMod.
Then i found out, that CyanogenMod does NOT Support the Dual Camera feature.
I contacted Samsung, and they told me that the Camera app was not really an app at all, but was in fact part of the OS itself.
But remember, the Genuine Samsung Galaxy is actually model number GT-i9500, which uses the Exynos Chip, unlike the Samsung Galaxy S4
variant known as the S4 LTE GT-i9505, which uses the Qualcom Chipset.
It has also been said by some XDA developers, that Samsungs 'TouchWiz' is not Open Source, it is Closed Source.
Well belonging to the company, this is no surprise, I'll also bet that it is probably Patented as well.
I say, so what ?, CyanogenMod does NOT need the original samsung 'TouchWiz' code, it only needs to know the HardwareSpecs of the Qualcom
Chip, then programming/developing can begin.
The S4 is already Superceeded by the S5 (and any possible variant(s) of that), i feel that the GT-i9505 is getting left out of the picture.
Are there any answers to this mystery ???

What mystery? That Cyanogen doesn't offer the ability to record with the front and back cameras at the same time?
That's not a mystery. It's that only 1 person out of a million would ever want to do that so no one is devoting their development time to integrating that feature.

I'm afraid I'm not completely sure i know what you mean?
Do you mean that there would only be 1 Developer out of a million who would use this feature, and therefore no support would be actioned for this ?
OR do you mean that in your opinion there are hardly any people who would own a phone like the S4 that would want to use this feature.
Why would anyone *NOT* want to do this. It's fun for one thing.
Maybe I've made a mistake but, i thought that one of the things that XDA devs were all about, was trying to fix or patch areas on OS's
where the mainstream had overlooked, and especially about importing and bringing new features about to free OS's such as CyanogenMod.
Could you please clarify i bit more carefully about, this.

You are pretty close minded even though I don't use that feature myself.
V-bloggers love using that feature.
But I do agree with you. AOSP is suppose to provide a clean experience

The insults aren't needed.
I stated a fact. There is not enough desire for this feature for developers to devote time to coding it instead of coding something else that is more heavily requested.
If there were a strong desire for it developers would be looking to fill that need.
But there are alternate methods to getting this feature...like using touchwiz. So there aren't many devs who want to spend time coding a little used feature that is already available elsewhere. Especially one they don't intend to use themselves, and not when there are more popular mods that people are asking for in droves like gps fixes and updated kernels and theme manager fixes.
Keep insulting me if you like for telling it like it is. But this is the simple reason why this feature hasnt been widely developed.
If the OP really wants to do this on an AOSP rom, he can learn how to develop. Many many many people here learned how to code specifically to create a feature they wanted.

I didn't really back him up or said you were an insult.
I said that AOSP rooms should be free of non Google modifications.
But I am just telling you again that there are probably more than a million in one desiring for that feature because some people like to v-blog

OK, Fine your point is now made.
But just remember, at least on the Samsung series of phones, the S1, S2, and S3 did NOT have this feature, the S4 was the first phone by Samsung to have this feature, and the S5 is now officially the 'Flag Ship' phone for Samsung.
As with continued development of multi-media standards, i.e. 4K for a start now available on the Sony Experia Z2 phone for one,
the demand for ever increasing video recording features and abilities will continue to increase, so it would not really surprise me, if later
on this feature were to start appearing in later makes & models of phones down the line.
You really have to consider what % of people will even know or find out about free AOSP OS's like CyanogenMod, for one thing,
and even then what % of those people will even upgrade to such OS's.
The demand for Dual Camera Video Recording will probably go up and up amongst the general populace of phone users.
Right now the demands are other things, things like theme development, bug fixes, etc.
Having ones 'foot-in-the-door-now' so to speak, could be a worth while investment for later on.
Sure the demand NOW is very little, but if devs wait till later on to do this, then when the demands get bigger (presumably with newer
models of phones), devs will be flooded with all sorts of bugs to have to sort out on all the different OS types and versions,
- while the demand is great -, thats a lot of pressure on devs, which would also slow down development in other areas.
I think now, i have made my point. While this does sound purely like an argument just so i can gain something for myself - it's for ALL other people. I dont and cannot claim to represent what people in the world who own phones want. But logic sais that if i want this, then there are lots of people in the world who want this, just because XDA devs have not heard of such people, does not mean that they dont exist.
Besides I'm talking about being able to record video with 2 cameras at the same time, is that really such a grand feat ?,
Hell the XPrivacy program i use that XDA devs made was a Major Feat, Dual Camera support cant be THAT difficult to implement.
As for your other comments:
"But there are alternate methods to getting this feature...like using touchwiz." - well i think i already explained why i went to CyanogenMod in
the first place.
"If the OP really wants to do this on an AOSP rom, he can learn how to develop. Many many many people here learned how to code specifically to create a feature they wanted.[/QUOTE]" - Actually when i was a kid i programmed BASIC, but i have brain damage due to seizures affecting
my long and short term memory, so sorry, your claim that any OP can program is incorrect.
My Point Made
Your point made? I still don't even know what your point is.
Look, I get that this feature is important to you. But that does not mean that it's important to a large percentage of everyone else.
The Samsung AirView features are far more requested to be ported to AOSP roms but even then the demand is so small compared to the demand for things like floating windows, hover notifications, theming fixes, Knox workarounds, etc. No devs even want to tackle the AirView features, which get asked about at least once a week on the various S4 forums, because there isn't enough demand. And there's even less demand for simultaneous duel camera use.
In the years I've been here this is the first time I've ever heard of a request for simultaneous duel camera use. And I read nearly every post here nearly every day. So while I appreciate that this feature is something that's really important to you, it's just not in high demand.
And there is zero incentive to develop it now before it becomes high demand later. There's no money to be made in rom modding. If people suddenly want this feature down the road it'll get developed then. There is no early investment incentive in this. Phone modding is a hobby. Like fishing or model trains. We do it for fun, not for money.
As for the difficulty of simultaneous duel camera use...yes, it could be THAT hard to develop. It's not just an app. Something like this that controls 2 pieces of hardware at once would have to be coded into the kernel. And while kernel tweaking is fairly common, completely new kernel features are scarce because it's a very limited number of people who can do it. (And the stock kernel is closed source so it's not like the code can just be lifted from the Samsung version)
Second, once you had the ability to do it in the kernel you'd need an app that could take advantage of the support. You couldn't use the stock camera. You'd need something new. So that's a second layer of development. So this isn't a quick 1 hour project. It's a lot of hours that someone would have to put into it, for something that isn't being asked for very much.
This is the reason it's not being done yet. Don't be mad at me for giving you the honest answer.

Well i think that everything i said above are _VALID POINTS_ points i would have though would have been important enough for XDA devs to consider.
It seems to me that there simply is TOO MUCH demand on the XDA devs in general.
"There's no money to be made in rom modding."
As for 'INVESTMENTS' - I did _NOT_ mention business or money making at all - I meant your investment in coding/programming, your time put into work.

Well, i guess i will have to turn to people i CAN pay money to, to make it more 'worthwhile' for minority's such as myself, if not a dev.

Nothing wrong with that! Try to find a group of likeminded people who want this on AOSP and put a bounty together to offer to a developer.
