Hi,
I am using a SM-N910C (XSG). Since late I have been facing an issue. The phone is connected on WiFi and left on sleep/idle for around 10 mins, I stop receiving push notifications from my apps including Gmail, Whatsapp, Viber etc.. I wake the phone up and suddenly receive all the notifications at once. This doesnt happen while on mobile data. I dont know whether the problem is with my phone or with the WiFi router. Tried with my friends Nexus 5 and another HTC One E8. But they seem to be working fine. Has anyone faced this issue? Any solution?
i have been having the same issue!! is your phone rooted?

What devices do you guys use and what version of Android does it run????? Could it be a software or device issue???
It sounds like the new google play services acting up. Try removing the update in the application setting.

I had formatted my phone thinking that could help...but no luck....How could play services effect this???
Have exactly the same problem. Not sure why though......
Most of the application push notification rely on Google Cloud Messaging which lies within the Google Play Services
Anyone found a solution? I have un-installed update, downloaded previous version of Google Play Services but still no luck.
OK. The solution is to go to WIFI settings ---> Advanced ---> "Keep Wifi During Sleep" set to "Always"

Has this fixed your issue? But isnt it set to ALWAYS by default? at least mine has been but still no luck.... just can figure out what is causing the problem
Did you try the push notification fix from Google play store? Some network does not maintain a good constant connection with the phone. The apps try to fix by shortening the time between heart beat that the phone send to the server.

Yep tried that as well....But no luck.....I tried something else today.... I connected another WiFi router to the main one and connected to its WiFi.....not facing an issue at that time..... I dont know what to point at, my phone or the router.....
hello from egypt i have just discovered the solution of the problem because i had it too so sure you should keep the auto aync is on and the mobile data is not restricted and the previous two settings not the real problem the problem is in the power saving mode the is an option at the end of power saving settings that will reduce the power by never showing the notifications untill you open the apps so turn it off......
Is IPv6 enabled on your network? Samsung has an IPv6 issue, partly resolved in 6.0.1, causing issues for some apps using push. Pre 6, Samsung used to ignore ICMPv6 during sleep, causing the default router to time out after 200 seconds with the screen off.

When i was using 4.2.2 the wifi timer worked fine, i had it set to come on at a certain time and off, and it worked fine
Since updating to 4.3 i have set the same timer again (as i done a clean install of 4.3) and now every time it gets to the on time, i get a notification saying the wifi timer has started but the wifi it's self doesn't come on, when i look at my short cut tabs at the top the wifi one if off, even after the wifi timer says its started.
is this a known issue?

Hi.
I don't think this a known issue.
I'm using it myself and it works good in 4.2 and 4.3.
Does yr WIFI on yr device working without the timer?
Yes the Wi-Fi is working fine when I put it in myself, the timer just doesn't seem to be working in my phone, when it gets to the on time, I get a notification saying that the timer has come on but when I bring the notification bar down the Wi-Fi isn't turned on.

Strange..
U might want to re-install the firmware again.
Make sure to do clean wipe, wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache before reinstalling.
Other that that, some 3rd party apps u had installed might have prevented the WIFI timer to be activated (some apps are poorly made by the developers).
This is all I can I think of.
Hope that this may help u.

thanks for your replies, ive done a bit more testing with it and have found that if i have my phone on when the timer comes on then the wifi does connect, its when the flip case is closed and the phone screen is off it doesnt seem to come on.
also i have also found that everytime the timer comes on i get a security message saying an application attempted to access system on your device, this has been blocked..
the wifi timer is the built in one though and not a 3rd part app, so not sure why thats saying that.

Ok, that is normal when the screen is off, mate..
I read somewhere here that the security message is kinda bug by Samsung...
btw, are u using the original firmware?
If so, u will get that message.
Yes I'm using the original non rooted Rom, when I was 4.2.2 my Wi-Fi would also come on by timer even if the screen was off, that's why I was confused by it not coming on in 4.3
When in 4.2 I was using a rooted version, but decided to go official with 4.3

Hi there,
I am having the issue of not getting any kind of notification from apps or what so ever on my nexus 4, i noticed that my phone was really quite for a long time and i figured quickly that it is the phone and not the router or so, only after disabling and then reabling wifi on my device the notifications start to poor in, although in the meanwhile i can use the phone, the apps and web.
Any ideas why this is happening? i just had done a factory restore like two weeks ago because i had more app issues and also because my device was not reconnecting automatically to known networks, this issue disappeared and now i`m having this no notification issue.
I recommend you to reinstall your apps which you receive notifications often from. It may help
Thanks
i will try, but i don`t think it will help because all of them do same...so mathematically seen it can`t be an issue with all the apps at once and over night...
Thanks for the suggestion though.
Yeah, try clearing data and reinstalling the apps which are giving you issues. In addition, download an app called push notification fixer from the playstore, set ot as its default settings, apply them and reboot the device. See if that helps.

Hi All,
I've had the S7 Edge now for 3 months and I am generally loving the phone. However I have a few issues that are happening continoulsy:
Bluetooth turns itself on and the volume of the phone mutes itself.
Wifi turns itself off during the night even though I've selected the option to keep it on. I will wake in the morning and the phone is using my mobile providers data.
I have read various threads to factory reset the phone which I will do if it resolves the issues but I want to ensure my Apps return with the data they currently have residing in them e.g. 1Password etc.
Hoping someone has some thoughts,
Thanks.
CL
Did those issues always occur or start only recently?
Hi,
From memory they have always been there. I've just lived with them but they are becoming annoying.
Thanks.

this is not a common issue and I believe you got a defective unit. you should take it back to make warranty claim
I'll have a word with Samsung support. I would have thought that the software was telling it to do these things.

Unfortunately I've tried all of those to no avail. Today the phone has 4 times muted itself and in addition Bluetooth has turned itself on automatically. All bizarre!
Do you use the edge panel "My Places?" This can change those settings based on location.

Unfortunately not I don't use it. I wish I did as that may be an answer! It happens all over to be honest and isn't linked to a certain location. It's very odd as I can be using the phone and suddenly it turns mute on. Sometimes bluetooth will turn on with it and sometimes not. Its frustrating as I am now missing calls and texts.
Appreciate any feedback.

Apps - application manager - apps that can change system settings. (names my differ. Translated from my language). See if any user app that you installed is enabled in there or try troubleshoot by disable one at a time.

Okay I've disabled them all for now. If things stop working I'll enable them one by one. There were a few that had access. Appreciate your help.
Just as an aside what is the best way to factory reset the phone and then reinstall the apps etc that I had installed. I'm thinking worst case if what you have proposed doesn't work? I had an iPhone prior to this and it was a pretty straight forward process.
Thanks.

I'm not TOTALLY sure, but I think that if you're logged in with your google account and go into settings->Backup and choose to backup to your google account, your app data should follow. After the backup is finished, factory reset and then when you log into your google account again you get an option to retrieve your old app+data.
Don't hang me up on this, as i'm not totally sure! But i THINK it works this way. Google at least mention app data in the decription, but well, not sure if everything follows.
Hi, its my first time writing here, but not using this forum.
First of all, sorry if my english is not good enough.
I have a Nexus 6P stock, without root or anything. This week I installed Android 7.1.2 from google beta program, after that, I was having draining battery issue, so, I checked the battery usage and discover that the Wi-Fi never stop, then, after reading on some blogs about this problem and found that I should go to WiFi setting and disable some option in "keep wifi on sleep", however, when i click on setting key, always appear this messages "Settings has stopped" and "Settings keeps stopping". Things I did:
1) Disable Wi-Fi, try clicking on setting key - still the problem
2) Restart on safe mode - still the problem
3) clean the cache from recovery mode - still the problem
Any other suggestions without restoring the cell phone?
Thanks in advance

Have You tried with - Settings - Location - press the 3 dots - Scanning - And disableing everything there ?
So...if I can't access the wifi settings is there any way to disable the wifi optimization or otherwise prevent it from dropping a wifi connection that it detects has no internet?

Unfortunately the only thing that usually fixes that is a factory reset. And if that doesn't work it's a ROM issue. Even though it's a stock ROM it happens.
Your best bet is probably a factory reset at this point. Usually if Settings or another system app is crashing on Stock, something is pretty messed up. You could either opt out of the beta and it will wipe/downgrade for you, or you can download a factory image from Google and install it manually if you're so inclined.
I have the same issue on my s6 after it updated to Nougat. Settings crashes every time if I try to open wifi, no matter what. Already wiped system cache and started in safe mode, but the problem is still there. Has anybody figured out a solution to this?

I tried everything except factory reset, which I don't want to do yet.
I have this problem but I'm running Nougat on a stock "International" Samsung Galaxy S7.
I've tried factory resetting which fixed the issue for a while, but now it's come back.

Hello
i have the last update of oreo on my nexus 6P and sometimes it's take up to 10 minutes that i get an email to the device after that it's on the PC, is it something with the oreo or with the device?
thank you
I've noticed that also think it's a problem with Gmail app. If I access my mail from browser it works fine.
so we need to wait to update for the app you think?
maybe other users have these issues too?
I have ran into this almost every time I update the OS, What works for me is uninstall the updates, and then update Gmail again.

Hmm. not having that issue here. If I did I would probably force stop and wipe data on Gmail then reboot. Have you checked under Settings>>Users and Accounts>>Google>>Account Sync? There you can manually sync to check for a hanging app and the last time it did sync properly. Manual sync for every Google app is about 5 seconds (everything). YMMV due to carrier performance and or geographic location (Switzerland).

to do it manually everytime it's problem, i want it as it should be automatic.
about the sync it's on automatic at the settings so it's ok.
about the wiping, that basiclly what was offer here - to install gmail app again, so i will do that, it'f very interesting the reason that these accure.
about the oerformance i think it's not a problem because first of all it's on LTE and second, it's also accure with WIFI so...maybe the sync goes to sleep for sometime?

My point was to manually sync to SEE if GMail is hanging on sync, not to manually update it every time, LOL. Second thing is that force stopping an app, deleting the app data and then rebooting is not the same as uninstalling / reinstalling. You do it all under App info. I was simply offering you an alternative- not the same at all. I really don't think you have a problem to worry about, and we can't change the sync frequency even if we wanted. Good luck to you.
hoo i see, so in manual sync it's not hanging.
so we need to live with the isshu?

Have you installed GMail and reinstalled?
Have you wiped both the cache and dalvik partitions from recovery mode?
Have you added any non-Google apps that are syncing and may be interfering with the regular sync cycle (are you sure)?
Have you completely switched off LTE radio and run the same sync time tests only using Wi-Fi multiple times for a few hours?
The sync time is not adjustable on the N6P. You can turn it on or off, but you cannot change the frequency.

OK, so reverse the test. Turn off Wi-Fi completely. Run your same sync timing tests over LTE. Do this somewhere you have good cellular signal, thereby ruling out the possibility it is your Wi-Fi internet or Cellular provider. I've also asked several times if you have uninstalled GMail and reinstalled it. I understand English is not your first language but at least try to answer all the questions posed.
