How do I get such great SOT? 9 hoursish - Galaxy S6 General

Last night I was streaming movies using showbox and mx player. Nothing disabled and noticed how good my battery was. 6 hours SOT with 35 percent left over.

Probably like 80 percent brightness the whole time.

It sounds like you have a nuclear reactor instead of a lithium battery.

I have a new s6 being shipped to me this week but I'm hesitant to swap bcuz the new one might not have as good battery. Got a couple scratches on the aluminum on this one when I was drunk... Even though the case hides it it bugs me knowing they are there.

you would be a fool to swap a device that is preforming so great. it's not going to stay mint condition for ever, this is the reason things are considered used.
You probably have a fantastic CPU binning allowing it to run on low voltage i will guess its 10 or 11, 11 being the best.
Lets also consider that black pixels take zero power to populate the screen so if your screen on time was allot of dark or black filled space. (dark movie) then it will also yield some epic screen on times. One could put a full black image in full screen and initiate a screen wake lock and have the screen use zero power unless a notification pops up.

I watched interstellar which is a pretty dark movie I guess lol and the girl next door. Yeah well, I plan on testing out the new S6 for a few days before I make my decision. I think the screen on this one is perfect too. I can't see any pink or yellow tint although I should post a pic of it on here to see what people think.

Why are you guys surprised? Video playback is rated at about 12 hours.
It's everything else you do that will eat up the battery.

Custom battery cover

So, a buddy and I were bored the other night and decided that I wanted a custom battery cover. I bought a sticker, cut out, stuck it on, sanded around it and painted it. This is how it turned out... I was pretty happy with it.
Before the sticker was removed.

Looks great, mind taking pictures of it on the actual phone?
No problem. I gotta wait for my wife to let me use her inspire though. I'll get some as soon as possible.

Thanks, what kind of paint did you use and where might I get it? Also any tips you could give me if I try this would be great!
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I just used a regular gloss spray paint that I bought at a farm & fleet (farm supply store by me) you could by it at any wal-mart I'm sure. When you sand it, make sure you use at least a 400 grit for the battery cover and at least a 600 grit if you do any wet sanding on the paint. I wet sanded once and don't even think it helped. Make sure you put a couple coats clear coat before you put it back on the phone!!!

Here it is on the phone. Kind of a bad picture but I couldn't hold my wifes phone steady enough. I really like the way the black and green contrasts.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
And if you can see how much worse the paint looks in this picture than the first ones, that's why you need 3-4 coats of clear coat. I haven't had time to get to that part and I used it for a day and it didn't hold up too well. No I'm using a backless phone. Need to get the clear done soon!

Thanks a billion for your help (Thanked) I might try this one-day; you could (unofficially) sell these
oh snap that is on the actual battery cover! i wouldnt have the balls to do that to my battery cover. LOL. but looks good!
I actually wanted to sell these. I just don't really know what to charge for them. Let me know what you guys would pay for one. We can do a lot of different designs depending on detail.

I personally would buy one of those for $20 max (But only because I'm a poor Highschool student ) they're cool
i wouldnt put that on my phone if it were free
If you don't like it, don't post about it.

Seriously, nobody is forcing you to get one... Is it your time of the month or are you just STOOPID

Inadvertent heat test...

Got off work early today and decided to take a bike ride (mt bike). 90 degree temps - not a cloud in the sky.
Phone inside a neoprene armband, mounted on bike. Usually don't do that when it's this hot, but it was only 85 degrees when I started.
1hr 13min ride running Cardio Trainer with the screen on full brightness and set to always on, while streaming sports talk on IheartRadio.
Battery life dropped to 80% the first 30 min, which is good condsidering what was running. At the end of the ride (43 min later) it was down to 45% and HOT!
I checked the battery temp expecting to see something in the 42-45 C range, which is the hottest I have seen it get.
Today beat that... 58.3 C!!! or 137 F!!!
No reboots, didn't even notice any slowdown in performance. Opened her up and ran a vent on her all the way home.
She's charging at home now... her fever's all gone.
ps. good thing I have spare batteries.

[Q] Blobs on screen that only show when screen is dark?

Hi All,
I think I may have to return my Nexus under warranty, I am delighted with it as a tablet but have noticed I am getting blobs appear whenever the background is dark and especially on black backgrounds, I have taken a photo of them with the tablet turned off.

It's probably the oleophobic coating coming off.
I will post a photo to show you what I mean as soon as I am permitted to.
I am surprised many people ever get past 10 posts on this forum having to type the image verification code every time and having to wait 5 minutes between posts and not allowed to post images or links!

Anyone got any ideas now photo is up?

Maybe from your case? My case gets little dust marks on my screen.
No, not dust, I have circled the 4 blobs in orange.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Like I said before, it looks like the oleophobic coating coming off. It's really strange that it would be coming off on a pattern like that... Is there a part of the case that has those 4 dots that could be rubbing on it?
I have something similar with my screen. It looks like a smudge fingerprint on the left side of the screen. I can wipe it off but it always comes back. I've tried soap, lens paper, water but it keeps reappearing after a few hours.

Checked and definitely no pattern like that on the case + when its closed it doesn't touch the screen anyway.

Just thought I would update on this, the problem didn't really get any worse but also didn't resolve so I have recently sent it back to Asus as it was nearing end of warranty period and they have put a brand new screen on now so a good outcome.

phone runs very warm and short battery life?

Sup peeps,
Just picked up the note 3 yesterday.
The battery life has been pretty abysmal compared to my note 2...
1 hr of Web browsing and photo editing ran down 18%... No video or 3d rendering.
Also, the superior posterior aspect of the phone is abnormally warm with just plain use... Again, no video or 3d rendering.
Anyone else experiencing these issues?

Do you try see which app drain you battery?
Setting >>>>>>battery
Sent from my Nexus 10 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yes. First thing I did a actually. Mostly screen consumption and I am running at lowest screen brightness but not power saving. I never had to worry about these things with the note 2.
Here is my current usage after recharging again... Not as fast of drain but still bad for forum and Web browsing. Blue tooth and gps off but I am using 4g.

I use power saver mode unless I'm doing something cpu intensive but texting, web browsing, forums you don't need the full cpu power

I actually recommend going into dev options and enable cpu monitor. My note 3 was getting terrible battery because of indexing. And only found out why from the mon. removed my sd to fix it.
To enable dev options tap on the build# a few times.

Similar for me. I unplugged mine around 11am this morning and actually didnt use it at all. It sat on the table while I worked around the house. While on wifi it was down to 55% less than 4 hours later. Battery shows exchange services is killing me with over 70% usage. Coming from a note 2 i never had this issue. In fact, my note 2 was amazing with the exact same setup.
Since this is being used for work, I need to use exchange and it needs to be set to push email. Anyone else use exchange and have similar issues?
My battery is really long lasting :/

Best Buy has a test to check your touchscreen!!

Download the Geeksquad app. I watched him run the test in front of me.
It showed a horizontal dead spot one the upper portion of my screen.
I hate to say this guys, but the employees were aware of the problem and told me that they believe it is a hardware problem.
Don't shoot the messenger - It's what I was told.
They took it back outside of the 15 day return window and issued me a full store credit.
I'll wait and see how people like the new LG G Pad.
Good luck!!
Is this the app being referenced?

Thanks for the apk. I just ran the test and all it let's me do is test 5 areas of the screen and multi touch in top third. Am I missing something because I don't see a full screen test.
Same here.

Sorry guys, been at work.
Turn the tablet horizontal and try to drag the screen all the way to the right upwards.....Mine did nothing...
The manager even came and checked it out.....then gave me the nod - YES!!!
I have just completed the touch screen fix and it worked! I also could not complete the Greek squad test holding it horizontally. I had ghost touches, dragging issues and now my touch screen works flawlessly.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Maybe it is software..... I have no idea, just the opinion of Best Buy employees.
I hope they fix it, I'll still never buy anything from Google or ASUS - terrible service.
They ran from the problem.
If you don't have any daily issues I recommend to not try this app, I don't have any issues overall with my n7 and don't want them either.
