Congrats on the H815 version must be a nice phone for you to order a second one! Question about the stock messenging app. In the threaded view does it show a picture of the contact reply or just the bubbles of the conversation? if you don't mind can you post a pic of the sms app with a conversation to see what it looks like? Thanks.
There are no bubbles for each person
@wolfgart
Can you confirm which LTE bands are supported by this H815 variant? I have found 2 sources that indicate different bands.
Thanks!

I just got an H815 yesterday. I have a lot of music and videos on my SD card, and both are seen and play fine using the default Music and Video app. I did move all SD card data to my computer, and format the SD in the phone along with a Factory Reset when I got it though, so you might try that if you're still having problems.

Did anyone get a t-mobile venue pro and check to see if it has att 3g?
The samsung vibrant on t-mobile worked on att 3g even though it was advertised as only having 1700mhz 3g bands.
also if someone in the uk can check what 3g bands it has for sure? I have seen conflicting reports.

UK = 900/2100 = doesn't work in US 3G
Australia = 900/1900/2100 = doesn't work in US 3G
US = 900/1700/2100 = only works on AWS Band IV in US 3G (a.k.a. T-Mobile).
It's been confirmed by several comments on Engadget that the DVP will NOT work on ATT 3G.

Uhhh, At&t's 3G uses 850 or 1900, not 850 and 1900. The Australian version would work with At&t 3G, it would just be limited.
But since At&t still uses the 1900 band, it'd still work fine.

It's 850 download, 1900 upload.
I never said it wouldn't work with ATT, I said it wouldn't work with ATT 3G.
If you just have 1900, you won't get ATT 3G.
It will default to 2G or Edge. The 3G UMTS bands (900/1700/1900/2100) are ignored in this case. It will default to the GMS bands/Edge.

No it isn't. You're thinking of Tmobile with 1700/2100. Att 3G uses 850 or 1900. Always has been, always will be until they shut the 1900 band off. Don't believe me?

Nope. Att uses 1 band for 3G, and 1 band for 2G. You can even verify for yourself here:
http://www.intomobile.com/2009/02/24/att-3g-network-going-850mhz-nationwide-by-2010/
If they're going to be 850-only, doesn't than mean that ATT uses one or the other?
Wanna hear it from the CEO? :
http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/23/the-engadget-interview-ralph-de-la-vega-ceo-of-atandt-mobility/
Ralph: Yeah. We actually have more than 320 cities that are now 3G capable [AT&T has written us to let us know that they're actually at 350+. -Ed.]. We're going to continue to increase the number of cities, the number of the population that's covered, and we'll be finishing this year converting the frequency band that is used in some major cities for 3G from 1900 to 850, so by the end of the year, we'll finish San Francisco, we'll finish parts of New York, and then that'll bring the best technology 3G on the best backbone to significantly improve the quality and the coverage for 3G on our network.

Anywhoo, op, yes, the Australian version will support 1900mhz 3G. You'll be fine.
So why is it in Canada then when I contact companies like Bell, Telus, Rogers, etc they say something like this: "it must be HSPA (or UMTS) and 850 MHz and 1900 MHz compatible."
they use the word "and" which implies both...
apparently 850 is better too
"850 gives you greater distance and unlike 1900 it will penetrate areas like elevators etc. You should use 850 whenever possible."

that does imply both, but it doesn't need both to operate effectively. And yeah, the 850 band is stronger, but the 1900 band travels farther. Either way, the OP will be fine, if he chooses to get the Australian version.

Well I'm considering this too because I live in Canada so I need to get my hands on a DVP.
So for internet purposes, such as email, video, etc, 1900 is fine?
The other issue is...http://www.mobicity.com.au/dell-venue-pro.html

I'll try and arrange a deal with someone in the US when Dell starts selling it.

I think it'll work just fine, honestly. I'm considering it myself as well.
I can confirm that phones that have 1900mhz work on att 3g. I had an omnia 2 with 1900mhz 3g only and it worked fine in Manhattan.
some areas only have 850mhz 3g which would make it not work on 3g.
I guess I will have to look for an australian version, unfortunately it's a lot more expensive.
I am surprised that only the australian version has 1900mhz 3g on it.
Hopefully ATT or Rogers will release soon enough so we don't feel left out.
I just saw clove UK site update to 900/1700/2100 MHz . will that work with t-mobile 3g? edge only ? att 3g? or att edge only ?
900/1700/2100 MHz means it will work on t-mobile 3g and on ATT Edge
So apparently, the DVP will only work on ATT for voice and the edge data network. Is this something that the magicians here at XDA can fix with a different radio to flash on the DVP once it's cracked?

No, that's not a possibility. Your best option is to switch carriers.
Using my DVP on ATT sans 3g for now. Dont feel like moving to Tmobile until I move areas. Edge aint that bad if you have wifi around
I'm confused... Here's what I found on the Clove website...
GSM/GPRS Yes
Frequencies 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
Speed
3G/HSPA Yes
Frequencies 900/1700/2100 MHz
Speed HSDPA 7.2Mbps/HSUPA 5.76 Mbps
Does this mean that it will work on ATT? It says there's both 850 an 1900
900/2100 MHz is Tmobile 3G
850/1900 MHz is ATT 3G
Yes it will work on ATT - but not with ATT 3G.

T-Mobile is 1700/2100 for 3G.
I'm curious how many hardware variations of the Defy exist with distinct FCC ID numbers. This would be a good complementary thread to the one with all the different 3G fix files.
So please state 1) the carrier you bought your phone from (or if not a carrier, the site you bought it from), 2) the network you use it on (if not the same) and its 3G frequencies, 3) The FCC ID number behind the battery of your phone. If there is no FCC ID, then any other numbers you can find.
If your phone has the same info as another already posted here, no need to re-post.
I don't own a Defy but let's start with the info stated here:
http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=2965
1) T-Mobile USA, 2) N/A, AWS 3G, 3) IHDP56LC3
I have also found FCC reports of the following variations:
IHDP56LC1: WCDMA 850/1900
IHDP56LC2
IHDP56LC4
(not sure which bands on the latter two, had trouble finding the right testing docs)
1) eBay (T-Mobile USA branded)
2) AT&T (850/1900Mhz)
3) IHDP56LC3
IHDP56LC2: WCDMA 850/2100 (FCC website, Exhibit 11 RF Exposure Info)
IHDP56LC4: WCDMA 900/2100 (same above)

Aha, good to know.
If the T-Mobile USA version (IHDP56LC3) has 850/1700/2100, it seems odd they'd have (presumably for Telstra) a hardware variant which is the same minus 1700 (IHDP56LC2). I wonder if this is genuinely different hardware or if they just fail to list the AWS band in the FCC tests?
1. Telstra
2. Telstra Next-G
3. FCC ID: IHDP56LC2

Agreed, it's seems odd that they would have 2 different hardware variants with the difference being only AWS. Guess the only way to test would be to have someone with a IHDP56LC2 Defy flash the USA fix and come over to the US to test.
This would all be easier if manufacturers started using the penta-band chips like in the Nokia N8.
Well, I have seen (on this forum?) pics of the US Defy running 3G on AT&T using the 850. If true, and the 2100 works in Europe (it does, BTW) then anyone would be seemingly better off with the US version.
Oh, here it is: http://androidforums.com/t/217819-t-mo-motorola-defy-working-t-3g-850-band-only.html

Well, *anyone* but:
- Customers on global carriers who require the 900 MHz band for good 3G coverage
- Customers on any carrier that has significant 1900-only 3G areas
Which leads to a question - can anyone here confirm they live in or have occasion to visit an area where AT&T's 3G coverage is only 1900 MHz, and no 850? You can verify this by bringing your Defy as well as a phone that does have 850/1900 3G, and seeing if you get 3G on the other but not the Defy.
If you can set up this kind of situation - take a nandroid backup of your firmware, and then try applying the "3G fix" for 850/1900. Is your phone now able to get 3G on 1900? If yes, then the bands are entirely software-controlled; if no, it's the hardware.
Or to the Australians out there with a Telstra Defy - do you have access to an Optus SIM card? Can you test out the Defy in a 900 MHz-only Optus coverage area, and then try flashing the "3G fix" for 900/2100... is your phone now able to get 3G on 900?
1) Bought from T-Mobile Direct (UK)
2) Network: T-Mobile (UK)
3) FCC: IHDP56LC4
All,
I live in Madagascar, after flashing US 3G fix, i've got 3g at home now. Before fix, in rom 3. 4. 3-11, i always don't have at home. But, oh yes there's but, the network signal is very poor. And i've lost it many times.
My Fcc id HDP56LC4.
Now i'm in 900-2100 fix and everything is right but in Edge lol 2G.
My carrier is Telma, 900 for Gsm and 2100 for 3g+ (Hspda). I've signal and 3g+ connection when i leave home for office, in the city.

Hello I have purchased a Motorola Defy from e-bay off of kick mobiles in the UK it was already unlocked the FCC ID is :IHDP56LC4 900/2100(2.2.2) and I had it shipped to Canada..... much to my dismay it does not work on our basebands here..well it does on GSM 2G...anyway I found a Canadian one from Telus so i bought that one too and it's FCC ID is :IHDP56LC1 850/1900(2.2.1) hope this helps
I'm confused. When I go to the phonescoop page and click on the different FCC IDs IHDP56LCX where X is 1-4 the only one that is different is 3 where it has the 1700 band in addition to the 850/1900/2400?
I'm looking for a phone with hardware to support 850/1900 3g. can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
If you want the one with 850/1900 3G, it's the one sold by Telus Canada, or in certain Latin American countries.

Thanks for the reply!
It seems really tough to pick up a defy with specific hardware because a lot of phones on ebay anyway are tmobile which apparently is 850/1700/2100 and could work with att but will not have the 1900 band or mb525 which is the international version which doesn't work with att?
For IHDP56LC2, seems to be almost all in one:

The ONLY reason for the baseband switcher is to fix firmware files that are meant for the wrong variant. The ONLY baseband you need is the one intended for your hardware. Nothing else will give you better results. The hardware cannot under any circumstances connect to bands it's not compatible with.

Thank you for the summary. I was trying to find a clear answer on this all over and this is the only place ive seen it sumarized. Im looking to get a moto x for tmobile, but I wanted to make sure that it had 1700 HSDPA. It seems only the dev model and the t mobile version do.
Thanks for posting this. I am quite sure the Rogers version supports the exact same LTE bands as AT&T. I know for certain it supports band 4 as that is what I'm using mine with.
I found this info in Rogers website. Is it a mistake?

I don't think its a mistake, its just that Rogers only lists the bands they actually use, not the bands the phone supports. I'm surprised they claim LTE band 7. While Rogers uses it the FCC data for the phone doesn't list any approval for band 7 that I can find.(yes Rogers is in Canada but our approvals generally follow the FCC info)
I figure that the way Motorola differentiates between the bands supported would be the model number, such as XT-1058.
This is why your table is so valuable, the info is very hard to find. I'm not using my Rogers Moto X with Rogers, just like many others want to buy a Moto X for another provider so if you can get the info bang on it will help many people.
edit - did more research and I'm very confident the Rogers Moto X supports LTE bands 2,4,5,17 - the same as AT&T's XT-1058 as the FCC ID on the Rogers phone is the same as AT&T and Motorola's own test reports list LTE bands 2,4,5, and 17.
edit #2 - I looked up the Canadian certification, there is no 2600 mhz in the Moto X.

That is great that Rogers thinks its a 2600mhz device, but it isn't. The iFixit tear down found no 2600 mhz hardware, the Industry Canada certification has no request for or approval given for 2600 mhz and the FCC certification has no request for or approval given for 2600 mhz.
So no matter what Rogers says, there isn't 2600 mhz support in the XT-1058.
The only way its possible is if Motorola put different hardware into a phone with the same XT-1058 model number(not gonna happen) and if they didn't bother to tell Industry Canada or the FCC that it was present, in which case they will be a in a lot of trouble very soon.

I dont know why Moto make so hard to find the LTE bands Moto X supports. But I have a XT1058 that I bought in Brazil and use in LTE band 7 (2600 mhz) . This same model is for sale in Claro Chile that uses LTE band 7 also. My phone is assembled in Brazil but it has FCC ID IHDT56PA1 Type M0DD7.I don't believe Moto uses a different hardware with the same model name.
The model info is available on the Wikipedia Moto X page. It clearly states which model is capable of which frequency/band there.

Can you please post a screenshot of system info that clearly shows LTE B7?

OK, I finally found information from the FCC that confirms the XT1058 does in fact have 2600 Mhz Band 7 LTE. However it is not approved for use in the US. The normal AT&T firmware has the band disabled, however someone has confirmed that the AT&T 4.4 leak has it enabled(Likely an error).
The Rogers XT1058 should have band 7 enabled in firmware however LTE band 17 is disabled.(700 mhz)
The IC (Industry Canada) certification is all messed up and doesn't indicate the proper bands the phone supports.
One correction...I don't think Sprint has a 32GB version.

Very interesting. Looking to pick one of these up from rogers and use it on telus. Wondering if Telus has band 7 lte 2600Mhz. Or is that JUST rogers? Im hearing that buying from rogers and sim unlocking will only get hspa+ on Telus. Anyone confirm or have a clear answer on that?

Telus does not have any band 7 LTE, however they do have band 4 LTE (AWS band) and it works great with a Rogers/Fido Moto X that has been unlocked(8 bucks). I have two in front me to prove it works!

I understand that rogers has band 4, 7 & 10 for LTE, I'm running the at&t 4.4 firmware on my rogers moto. I'll confirm if I do receive LTE with speed test
Confirmed LTE works download speed 58 MB/s.
As for telus, I can't tell but I do see chatr as available under mobile networks same for bell and telus

Over on howardforums they have a "take over my plan" section. Pretty frequently there people buy and sell unlimited Verizon and AT&T plans.
I paid the owner $250 for his unlimited AT&T plan.

I'm really excited for this, but I'm curious as to how it will work on T-mobile HSPA. I live in an area that only gets 3G, but I'm mainly worried about the phone losing call signal. It seems to have the same frequencies as the Nexus 5, which I have and works fine for me. I should be okay, right?
Am I mistaken in reading that this phone will be carrier unlocked, as well as working on(w)CDMA?So all of sprints radio bands will work correctly.

It is carrier unlocked. WCDMA does not mean (w)CDMA it is WCDMA a completely different frequency. Verizon and sprint are not supported because they are CDMA. This phone does not support CDMA.

People dump your useless CDMA carriers and jump to gsm carrier. Have the freedom to get your own phone instead of the useless cdma carriers dictating what phones they carry.

wcmda is another name for umts, which is the 3g version of gsm. verizon whitelists imeis anyways. even though the nexus 5 has full band compatibility with verizon, they dont let you use it on their network. you have to use a verizon branded phone.
I'm wondering if Amazon will be able to sell the Oneplus One. It might get cheaper with gift cards .
I'm also wondering if things don't work out, we may get replacements from Amazon instead of sending or phones to China or HK?

They're not because it cost more to sell truth Amazon. This is why they didn't use amazon in the first place as international distribution.

Don't worry about the band mode if you buying prime version, but if you choose China Mobile which is 799 RMB one, you have to flash the ROM for China Unicom and unlock the band mode in engineering mode. Or you can unlock the band mode in setting if you get the very first ROM for China Mobile.

It only supports 32GB. I had a Sandisk 64GB and I tried everything including formatting to FAT32 intead of exFAT and it just kept saying "corrupt" and would not mount at all.
I just purchased and installed a Kingston 32GB U-1 card for about $12 and it is now working fine, under storage is says 31.43 GB available. Time to fill it up with content!

Xiaomi officially announced that this device is only support 32 GB, but Chinese confirmed that it support up to 64GB as well. Btw, he is using Sandisk 64GB c10
But there's an SD card bug that you'll probably get "SD card is corrupt error"
Lots of people get this, but it is randomly... hope Xiaomi would fix this soon.

LTE will not work, but 3G should work fine, and 2G has at least one of the two bands covered. Take a look at the following page for info about the bands that AT&T uses:
http://www.prepaidphonenews.com/2014/09/what-phone-works-with-which-operator.html
Quoting from that page, "AT&T uses the 850Mhz and 1900 Mhz bands for GSM (voice), EDGE (2G) and UMTS (3G) data. In some markets they use both bands in others one or the other...For LTE AT&T uses bands 2 (1900), 4 (1700), 5 (850) and 17 (700). Band 17 is AT&T's primary LTE band. Bands 2, 4 and 5 are used in areas where AT&T doesn't own any band 17 spectrum and also in combination with band 17 in urban areas to increase capacity and speeds."
The RN2 has 3G WCDMA coverage on 850 and 1900 MHz--great! But no LTE frequencies coincide. GSM voice and EDGE 2G are partially covered by 1900 MHz (and not 850), but my understanding is that much of AT&T's voice service actually goes over 3G nowadays anyway. So if you get decent 3G reception, that should make up for GSM/2G coverage missing 850 MHz.
If somebody knows more, I am happy to hear about it! But I have ordered this model for myself via GearBest (currently on presale for US$180 with coupon code "GloudsGB32"), and plan on using it with an AT&T mvno, too.
