My qe stays at 1/1 even when I flash back to stock. Is this true for everyone? Did anyone check their qe before they used mofo.exe to know what it was?
Also, in bootloader mode, my Software Status always says Modified even when I flash back to stock. Is this true for everyone?
To tell what your qe is, boot into stock recovery from bootloader mode and it will be at the bottom left of the screen.
To boot into bootloader mode, press and hold volume down for about 2 seconds, then while still holding down the volume down button, press and hold power button and hold both down for about 3 seconds and then release both.
To boot into recovery, use the volume down button to scroll to recovery and then press the volume up button. When the dead android with the red triangle/exclamation point shows up, press and hold the power button for about 2 seconds and then press and release the volume up button. Then release the power button. Press the power button when you are ready to boot back into system.
Also, when I flash the Pure Edition or AT&T systems, it goes to qe 2/1, but then if I flash back to stock and then flash back to the Verizon rooted system, it goes back to qe 1/1.

That thread is incorrect in that it says that the root checker was disabled. It has not been b/c mine will convert to 2/1 if I flash a different model's firmware.
I can't now remember if I checked the qe before I started all of this, but I can tell you that my software status in bootloader mode always says modified even when I am on stock and has never converted back to official status.
Hmm, I never checked before flashing, I have a moto X new in box on KK still, ill have a look when I get home!
I was able to get back to qe 0/1 by doing a factory reset in stock recovery on my XT1095. Erasing userdata and cache with fastboot did not work.

I am trying to get into the bootloader of my device by pushing up and power but it vibrates twice, nothing comes up and the orange led keeps blinking
I got into the stock recovery on accident, and it wiped my bootloader? I did the temp root and tried to push the engineering bootloader it still won't work.
edit: nevermind. LOL

To get to the bootloader, you hold Volume Down and Power. (The jury is still out on what Volume Up and Power does.)
The stock recovery first shows an image of a handset inside a triangle with an exclamation point, or something like that. Pressing Volume Up and Power then reveals the recovery menu. I assume you'll be replacing that with a custom recovery image soon.
If you did the command properly to flash the engineering bootloader, then your device should boot up and you'll see hboot 0.85.2007 on the second line of your bootloader. If your device doesn't boot, then I'm afraid you're screwed.

Hi All,
I've done lots of searching but I'm stumped. Any help appreciated.
Device - Verizon Razr M. New - came with JB.
Rooted using motofail2go JB Superuser. Worked.
Installed Safestrap 3.12 from here.
Was attempting to install EnergyROM following Cheezzzz's Guide.
The instructions don't match what my Safestrap menu looked like, but I thought I had everything going okay. But the ROM wouldn't install. Errored out right away when trying to flash, so I figured I'd boot back to stock and come back later. Now I'm bricked.
The only thing I can get is the initial Safestrap menu after holding Power & Vol up + Vol Dn. It appears for about 10 seconds, but neither the "Recovery" or "Continue" buttons are responsive, then it powers back off.
I'm sorry if this is something simple to get me to where I can RSD, but I'm coming from 4 years on different HTC models, so Motos are a new beast for me.
Thanks in advance,
John
Okay - so I was really just pressing/holding combinations of buttons and I managed to get to the original recovery. Got it in fastboot and am flashing with RSD now.
Edit: RSD flashed back to stock.
Did you have the device plugged in during all this? That stalls Safestrap because the phone is just doing a lazy boot to the battery charging graphic. Glad you fixed it though.

Pwr+vol up+vol down until you get to recovery menu. Vol dn until you get to the choice you want, then vol up to choose what you want (vol up is how you select from recovery, fastboot, etc. You can only go down in this menu, not back up. If you miss your choice, just wait and the phone will reboot if you wait too long.) If you choose the recovery option in the beginning menu, you will get the red M and then an Android on its back. At the Android, hold vol down and tap vol up. This will put you into stock recovery.
That combo wouldn't work for me.
If I held down the vol keys and power button, nothing would happen. I tried holding it for three minutes, and nothing. When I let off the keys, the red would pop up after 3-4 seconds and than the SS splash would pop up again without working softkeys.
I came to find that if I started holding down the three keys right when SS splash popped up, I could get into the fastboot menu
I recently got the update for 4.4 notification, clicked it but then the installation froze on a picture of android with an exclamation in his belly.
After that I could no longer boot to bootloader or recovery.
I tried fastboot but I cant not install the drivers as I cant boot to bootloader.
So I tried NRT and managed to get my recovery back (TWRP), but still no bootloader.
I have the option to return to stock on NRT but I am afraid it will fail and brick my N7.
I have SuperSU, flashify and TWRP apps running now with TWRP recovery also bootable.
How can I get my bootloader back?

Hi, Siddy1200...
If you had no bootloader... nothing would work... at all.
The bootloader underpins everything you do with your Nexus 7. Nothing happens without one... in which case , you'd be effectively HARDBRICKED.
The fact that stuff is working indicates that your bootloader is fine.
To access the bootloader manually... shut down the Nexus 7 completely.
Press and hold the VOL DOWN button...
Whilst holding, press the POWER ON button, for around 5-10 seconds...
You should now boot into the bootloader.
This key press sequence should also work if you CAN'T shut down the Nexus 7 normally... for example, if you're bootlooping. I've had a few scary moments myself in the past, and the VOL DOWN+hold, POWER ON sequence has always thrown me back into the bootloader...

Thanks for the reply Greg.
I can't boot to boot loader, that means when I power on with vol- pressed, then select boot loader and press power , it doesn't work. The screen flashes for a second and it is back to the previous screen to where I can choose restart, recovery, boot loader, etc.
This also happened with recovery but I fixed it, now I'm trying to fix the bootloader

Apologies, Siddy1200... but I'm a little confused... based upon my reading of your post... I think you're already in the bootloader!!.
"...it is back to the previous screen to where I can choose restart, recovery, boot loader,etc..."
The bootloader features a green android, lying on its back, with it's belly open - some really tiny text at the lower left hand side of the screen giving details about the current bootloader version and it's lock state. At the upper right hand side of the screen, adjacent to the power button, are selectable options via the POWER BUTTON, which can be cycled through with the VOL BUTTONS... and these options are START, RESTART BOOTLOADER, RECOVERY MODE, POWER OFF... and then START again.
Somewhat similar to your above quoted description.
Selecting RESTART BOOTLOADER will just bring you back to where you already are... ie., the BOOTLOADER.
Also, if you can't access the bootloader, how are you managing to boot into TWRP?... as this is normally done via the bootloader... ie, by selecting the RECOVERY MODE option.

Thanks for your persistence Greg, I think I was confused as what the bootloader actually is, now I can see I am already in bootloader :silly:
I will return to stock with NRT and try the 4.4 update now.
I'm stock 5.1.1, unrooted but bootloader unlocked. Tried updating with ota but ran through the stock recovery Android booted and it said update failed. Do i have to relock the bootloader? Again, im NOT rooted.

Also, when I tried booting into recovery manually, after the bootloader unlocked warning screen came up, it went to what was supposed to be there stck recovery but instead was the dead (lying down) Android with this words "No Command" over him. That's all, no other anything. I Powered off and booted back into Android.
BTW, got the phone second hand....
Download 6.0 and flash in fastboot.
You can also use my thread, but remember, there provided files are for EU version of Moto X Style. If you are using another device, steps will remain the same, but you will need files for your device!
Thread is found here.

The dead Android is stock recovery. Hold the power button then tap the vol + button. That will take you into the recovery menu.
From LenoMoto:
Code:
With the phone powered off, press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button at the same time until the device turns on.
Press the Volume Down button to highlight "Recovery mode"
Press the Power button to restart into Recovery mode.
You'll see an image of an Android robot with a red exclamation mark.
While holding down the Power button, press the Volume Up button.
I bricked my XT907 and it won't boot. When I power it on, it goes to the red Motorola logo and after about 10 seconds or so, it disappears like it usually would, but nothing happens. I managed to figure out how to boot into one of the recovery modes...Yes there are two: The alleged universal Droid Master reset and Motorola's...or Verizon's?
Method one: I boot into the recovery screen (NOT the Droid one) by pressing and holdiung FIRST, volume up, then volume down and power. I hold all three for a few seconds and the Motorola logo comes up. I then release the power button and up comes the recovery screen which gives me the options I need to reset. I scroll to reset and press power (enter) and nothing happens. I then press volume up, according to Verizon's site and it just boots back to the red Motorola logo. I try this again and I can't select anything from the menu.
Method two: I do the same above steps until I get to the same recovery screen. I press volume up again and back to Motorola logo. Press and hold volume up and power until it boots to the Droid screen with an '!'. I AM able to select options. So I select factory reset, it goes through the steps and back to the menu. No errors. I select reboot and it does it's thing, the Motorola logo pops up then 10 seconds, disappears and again nothing.
Method three: Volume up and hold power. Screen goes to fastboot mode. I plug it into the PC and enter ADB terminal...
fastboot devices
Device and serial listed
fastboot erase userdata
Bootloader repeats itself 3 or 4 times and tells me the action isn't allowed. Then to test my patience even more, i goes through the steps of erasing the device, and tells me it's completed its task even though it really hasn't.
At this point I am pretty sure there's no recovering from this. Any advice, besides telling me to get a new phone?

From what I understand, the bootloader is locked and cannot be unlocked (So long as Motorola and or Verizon hold the codes and or files hostage). So I can't flash anything unless the files I'm attempting to flash, are officially signed by Motorola.
Nonetheless, I will look at it when I get home from work and give it a shot. About the only thing I've been able to do is wipe the data through the Droid with the '!', allegedly. I'm not even sure that worked. If it did, it's been wiped twice. I guess the positive part if there is one; I have been able to keep it booted and powered on in fastboot, only connected via USB though.

Yes. It does...well did. It took me a few tries to get it into fastboot. Hooked it up to USB as soon as the screen came on. I missed I step or two the first time I tried to flash it. When it got past step 10 during the process, I was excited. Worked perfectly. Thank you so much. As old as this one is, it's been my favorite to tweak and 'hack.' thanks very much for your help :highfive:
