May be a silly question but I was going to root my s4 until I noticed that the build number is JDQ39.I9505 XXUAMDI
All the searches I have done have show root directions for JDQ39.I9505 XXUAMDM
Am I safe to root using S/W for JDQ39.I9505 XXUAMDM
Cheers
Hi, I have exactly same problem. Any guide available anywhere about unlocking XXUAMDI? I spend an hour googling with no luck.

You guys can just root with CF-Auto Root from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219803. Easy as cake. Read the OP well though.
Hello everyone. Sorry, I'm new to rooting and the forums, but I tried searching around the threads, both here and the AT&T Note 3 threads, and I couldn't find anything about rooting AT&T version of the phone. If anyone could link me to a thread that will let me root this, please post here, or if it's unrootable, please let me know, I tried searching for it.

The only ways to root mj5 is kingo or vroot which currently isn't allowed on the forums due to the suspicion of them containing malware.
N900AUCUBMJ5 Root yet?

I am wondering that same thing. I have 4.3 now rooted and getting rid of root seems unthinkable. The Note 3 is so powerful when properly setup, however the only way to set it up is having root functionality. I hope something comes soon because the build I keep seeing for N900AUCUMJ5 is buggy from what I read thus far. I can not wait for a stable root.

I also am desperate for someone much better at this than I to find a method. I hate the OTA! If we can't root, has anyone figured out how to remove the odin write protection so we can revert to the leak?
I'm stuck at this point waiting for a root method too. Does anyone know if Kingo will eventually add kitkat ? Have they been slowly upgrading the tool so far?

every one of those were saying no root method yet. So thanks for the help..
Chances are it will be a long while before we get any sort of root. I willingly took NC4 and have no regrets. Maybe one day we will get an unlock.

Fair question but i don't recall seeing many stickies on things you can't do
Also something like this requires little more than a Google search really

Perhaps, but maybe it will bring more awareness to it. I also installed the update without doing research to see if it could be rooted after, and now am sorely disappointed I cannot load cyanogenmod on it.
I've been searching all over and it still doesn't look like there's a solution for it. Hopefully somebody more experienced comes along, reads this, and figures out a solution for the rest of us mere mortals
Refer to the sticky that says do not OTA update.

with a BOUNTY of $18,500 for root it will certainly be no secret when/if its accomplished.

Refer to my utter lack of time travel capabilities, else I'd have flashed NC2 in the first place and not be in this pickle. (EDIT--should read "reading" capabilities, not "travel"!)

Dear Xda Developers
dear teams first of all i am sorry if any one has already posted such kind of thread i just want to know that on XDA great teams and people are working together on different devices to make them better for common people use.
today i have same Question for you all
i am searching for posts regarding verizon note 3 lollipop root and have not found any solution one click root does not work towelroot does not work root de la vegas not working in short nothing is successful against rooting Verizon Note 3 SM N900V.!! i just want to say that there are thousands of developers but still could not make a simple root for this device. kindly do not forget this device there are a lot of users like me waiting for root kindly do something about give it your attention guys root is needed.!!
Note: if it cannot be rooted on 5.0 then kindly make a root on 4.4.4 so those who are on 5.0 revert back to 4.4.4 via Odin (i have tried reverting back to 4,4,4 using Odin and it worked) and then can root 4.4.4 if you guys successful make root available for Verizon Note 3 SM N 900V running on 4,4,4 please let us know if there is currently any dev working on this device??
one more there is a new method knows as multiboot or something similar which is used to run dual roms on this device i had seen video on Youtube and could not sort out how to do it as i do not have root and without root nothing is possible kindly someone pay attention to this device. as its been a long time since no root>> [/SIZE][/B][/B]
Lots of us is waiting for it but there is no solution for now ...hope it ll be soon ..
Really?? Every other thread is asking the same questions.
/rant
Well.. I think at least read the other post about this topic, before posting something like this.. but anyways I'll give you a quick heads up.
Basically the main reason that root can't be done by now it's cause of Verizon blocking the bootloader on lollipop also banning the kernel from 4.4.2 where root was possible.
Another point why root hasn't been accomplished by now is cause the people who are able to accomplish that are already working for some company's who pays them to patch those kinds of vulnerability and some others are focused in his school or PhD.
So.. before posting such a request read a little bit son you can be aware of what's going on.
Cheers!
Just jumping in.... Has anybody tried Kingroot 4.0? or the new PingPong root for the s6?

I've done a bit of a research on Ping pong root... it seems it's only for note4 and s6 devices.
So I said let's give it a try who knows what might happen.. so I installed.
At first I thought it will give a message like device not supported but no actually it installs supersu but at the moment of pressing Get root! It gives me a message that supersu is not installed.
So... No. Ping Pong Root still does not work for us yet.
I'll keep up with that thread to see if it comes in handy to help us get root access.

I tried the King root dated 13 Jun, and it didnt work either.
Bummer. Was hoping since the S6 was 5.+ with root, we might get lucky. Oh well...
والحل طيب !!
I know the s6 is out, an I bought a S5. I'm arriving fashionably late to this rooting thing.
I have never rooted any of my devices ever, and by what I here.. Shame on me.
I need to get the most outta my phone and clean it up from factory crap. I love the ability to customize my phone, but I have no clue where to start.
An very nervous of "bricking?" my phone or messing it up. I'm tech savvy so I think it wont be to hard...? What would I be able to do with my phone when it is rooted? Will it void my warranty and can it ever go back? I remember when I first heard about rooting and people where "Bricking" phones left and right... Kinda the reason I never ventured into rooting. Well I put my big boy pants on and ready to go.. lol I would appreciate any help.
More than likely you purchased your phone already running lollipop, and if so, you can't root. Not yet, anyway.

Verizon says it will be running 4.4 kitkat, the site and the verizon rep said the same thing.

My version was OC1 or something (Lollipop) but fortunately not latest version, so I downgraded my one to NCG(Kitkat), and then rooted and upgraded it to OG5

Like the OP I, too, just bought an S5 but I bought it from a guy, NOT from Verizon. SO it's running Android 5.0 already. That's Lollipop, right?
Even though I have used Android for years I don't know all the terms (and am new to the XDA site). Is there a FAQ or something listing the basic stuff?
I got my old phone repaired -- a Samsung S3 running Android 4.4.2 -- so I presume it will be easier to learn to root, and I might want to start there.
UPDATE -- partly answering my own question by going to the xda-developers.com homepage and then scrolling to the bottom to see "root any device." I can see I still have a lot to learn, but there's some good info there

I had to get a replacement S5 from Verizon as my first one kept screwing up. This phone came with OC4, is it downgradeable?

Bootloader is locked and there are no known vulnerabilities that would allow root. I doubt anyone is working on a root process considering how tightly locked down the bootloader is.
Help ROOTING Samsung S5 Verizon
I have rooted a few phones all have been Samsungs. It is really bad when you give your hard working money to someone to buy something and they can control how you use it. ,,Can someone please help. I have read for 3 days about rooting this Samsung Galaxy S5 5.0 and it seems to have the latest updates and the knox thing is 0x0, Anyways I did the Kingroot on one phone and the one click root on one. I am not into doing all that different stuff with my phone that most people do when they root it,,,My only purpose for rooting is getting all the extra bloatware off...I have read that the S5 5.0 can not be rooted. Can someone help me..All I want to do is remove the bloatware...Please if you know how to root it let me know

So you read in these forums that the S5 5.0 cannot be rooted, but then you ask if anyone knows how to root it. Trust me, if someone had figured out how to root 5.0 on the S5 it would be very prominent in these forums. No one knows how to root 5.0 builds of OE1 or newer on the Verizon S5. Not sure how much clearer that can be stated like it was earlier in this thread.
