If you have lag, try this http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/34khjk/protip_if_your_still_getting_memory_leak_problems/
This turned my phone from a choppy mess to a much smoother experience. It is like night and day right after killing the process. Even chrome scrolling improved 100 percent.
Like in the thread I set up tasker to kill systemui every hour. No ill effects so far except my wallpaper turned back to default.

I'm glad I don't have any issues like this.
I don't really have this issue, but I've tried it with ROM toolbox pro/lite - Tools - Rebooter - and Restarted System UI.. Yeah, I've noticed that's it's a lot smoother and snappier. Dang! Lollipop is a kindof a mess.
I have this problem on twitter, play newstand, any forum site browsed with Google Chrome and even the new adblock plus browser.
Does doing this reset your battery timers?

not sure how to do that exactly, i just made a new time based profile repeating every hour. then made a task under app, kill app, and selected systemui.
pretty simple just click around in tasker for a minute and you will find a way to do it.
I've set up tasker to kill system Ui but haven't noticed much difference, I still have scrolling lag with various browsers and some apps such as Google play, the latest update for play newsstand and Tapatalk. The latest update to twitter works fine now though.

The worst problem with scrolling is XDA. The junk ads here are abysmal.
Can also be done from Settings→Applications→Application Manager→All→System UI→FORCE STOP.
Does killing System UI (I added all 3 of them) via Tasker actually work if you aren't rooted?
Scrolling in Chrome for me is abysmal and everything is so laggy in general. Not to mention the 10 hour battery life.

You want less ads? Try the XDA Classic theme on this site. Theme selection is at the bottom on the left side.
I prefer the classic theme. It's the same since 2006 when I joined after buying an i-mate JAMin (HTC Prophet).

I did a FR before flashing with Kies, and after flashing. Also did a clean install of all apps and settings and a cache wipe.
maybe 50 pics, 50 mp3s and 100 apps and 4 widgets running.
This video was taken just 15 minutes after a reboot.
Do people consider this whining?
EDIT: Spend 6 minutes looking through the video. The lags gets worse and worse.
That is the worst lag I have ever seen, I understand if you are upset, for me the lag is 1-2 second pauses now and then.
Was it as bad on 2.1?
Looks bad. Anyways try getting rid of the batt app that lets you know of the batt percentage on the notifications tray. I got rid of mine and the phone is much quicker.
Good luck i feel for you buddy.

The icon is just the alarm clock.
Ending all apps does not solve much. The lag returns almost immediately.
Was this lag meant to be so, i mean is it intended to blame the phone? I'm sure this is not normal, and have never seen lag like this. Mostly its 1sec (i know many complain about this) but blink twice and it will load

Not to disparage what you're experiencing there mate but I flashed JP6 yesterday and I can honestly say so far it's been smooth sailing even without any lag-fixes, as opposed to when I was on 2.1 just prior and things were about the same as what you've got here. Did you do a TitaniumBackup restore or anything?

Hmmmm, the only thing I can think of (and this'll probably sound silly) but you might want to try without a SIM in it. I remember people with Milestones having damaged/faulty SIMs which would cause their phones to slow right down.
Also, sorry but I have to admit I got a good giggle from the fingers tapping at ~4:30 :3

It depends WHAT you are running. In your movie you say stuff like "wow, 5 apps running", but widgetlocker for instance I know slows the phone down a bit.
The number of apps means very little (I can make a computer lag by encoding a video and messing around in photoshop too). It's what you are running that matters. Maybe you should try to work out which applications are causing issues (there is a good reason why I got rid of widgetlocker though).
Anyway, this thread should be closed as a dupe. It doesn't warrant it's own thread, as you aren't a celebrity, and other people have already posted video's onto the existing threads.Your case is no more important than the others.

Wasn't running anything after fresh boot. The video is from first screen taps on this freshly booted phone.
EDIT: Removing Widget Locker does not help... Tried that.
here it's unbelievable stable(jpk+oclf+4wks+120apps), guess it was a wise choice not going jp6/m.
But why are there 5 apps active? I have several active widgets but they don't show up as a regular process(es) here.. I'm sure that my phone would lagg too while running 2 games, 2 web browsers and navigational software on the background. =/
I doubt it was acting like this from flash off right?
Do you consider that the hardware may have been damaged!? You have your warranty, get another one .

Well.. That's my point.. Your apps must be doing something that is sucking up your CPU... because I'm running Messaging, Launcherpro, Jabberoid (not listed in active apps), sipdroid (not listed in active apps), and a live wallpaper. I suspect that your apps are possibly running a few things not listed in task manager.. Also, are you running custom widgets (I'm not using any, which might be adding to the jumpiness). I also only have 50 apps.
I have noticed your app list contains MANY custom widgets..
So, I suggest working out what specifically is causing your issues. But I can honestly say I don't get lag like that on my phone..

I reset my phone using safe mode everything was uninstalled as soon as I installed messenger lag was back
Funny how everyone complains about lag but I don't have any on my device ... Guess I'm the lucky one

I have to say I read this post thinking man what a daft suggestion. Turns out uninstalled messenger. Can't get the phone to lag at all.....before I was getting redraw on the homescreen everytime and laggy scrolling always!
Nothing improved. :/
Ya, I don't get the whole complaining of the lag issue. I'm sure it's installed apps that they keep sync on all the time.
I removed the stock keyboard and launcher and it's running as smooth as can be.
Well I was really surprised, my Nexus 5 is massively fast in comparison. Having a said that since removing messenger it's easily as fast as my Nexus if not faster.

Of course! I've been using Nexus devices exclusively for a good while for this reason but just loved the G3 too much!
So I bought my G4 from T-mobile yesterday as I did the initial install it feels choppy and laggy. After all the google play updates and restart the phone was still laggy when I move from app to app, home screen to setting and back. What I found out that help was changing the layout in Setting from Tab View to List View as you navigate around the phone like what I did previously everything became smooth and no longer laggy. Havent run into any issue with battery drain, wifi, touch screen, heat as most users describe yet will update if I find alternative solution.
After a fresh start (after factory reset, ROM flash, OS upgrade), the system does lots of indexing and set up, leading to a laggy phone and high battery drain. Give it a couple of days to settle down.
Yeah mine was same first startup is slow feels so laggy. But now feels great and battery life is also improved. I disabled most of google apps only have gmail.

Ahhh indexing that sounds quite about right for a moment I thought because UI itself throttle down the cpu of the phone so it seems laggy. Thanks for info hope it gets better in a couple of days as for apps that are not needed which bloatware apps do u guys disable so it doesnt run in the background and such?
Mine almost seems as if the phone doesn't have the resources to handle high usage. I'm waiting patiently for root so we can slim it down and better utilize cpu scaling (on demand, performance, etc)

The G4s (And I guess along with other phones) do have a sizable amount of bloatware installed as well. Just looking at the apps pre-installed from out of the box, there's quite a bit for a brand new phone.
Even though my G4 is broken in now, I found that after I disabled a buttload of these apps, it felt a bit snappier.
And I guess as a recommendation since you just got the phone. Replace the text messaging app ASAP! Stock is garbage, after I imported about 10'000 messages from my old phone, it slowed down as if I had it for a while. After replacing it with Textra. It's smooth as butter. Best decision I've ever made, and I generally hate leaving stock app for another one because I prefer less clutter.
Another one is to replace the stock keyboard with something like SwiftKey. This is a no brainer after using the stock keyboard for a while.
Some choose to replace Chrome as well with Firefox, or nochromo.
Just my top 3 recommendations for our G4s. After doing these 3, everything felt a lot better.

Exactly one must wait about two days so it all settled down. A factory reset helps if your phone didn't come with the newest update 5.1 or what not. But yeah
Mine didn't come with too much bloat if at all so I never had any lag issues, but using Textra and SwiftKey helped a with speeding it up. The stock messaging app wasn't cutting it

It is getting smoother and snappier but still see that animation lag when you're at home screen and press app drawer..do that multiple time and you will see the jitter. BTW I also disable alot of unnecessary app dont know if this come into play and also an option in Battery Setting where it say to reduce game graphic I turn that off:good:. Hopefully it is running at higher cpu/graphic frequency. Question does anyone know what OEM UNLOCK is in Developer menu?
I can play godfire without any issues
Oh look, it's you!!
I've gone through 4 of these dang phones and every time I thought I had a detective unit. Without any mods or anything, the phone is slow. Like everything takes 1 full second to open. It's embarrassing for the 808 as I compared to my ome plus one, which opens everything instantly just about in cm13. I've done side by side tests and my opo just smokes the pure. I've tried custom Roms, stock reflashes, nothing fixed this lag/delay
Is this normal? Is the MXPE really this slow? What's the point of the 808? It's honestly the only phone available to me right now and I just can't use it because it's so damn slow. I mean the last one I had took 1 to 2 seconds to open hangouts... Everytime . But my OPO? So fast I can't even really measure it, less that 0.5 seconds I'd say.
Please tell me I've had 4 defective units...

The delay is before the animation even begins, as in I tap on something, wait just about a full second, and then the animation plays and then the app loads. That's why I took off work and back, there's no way that that's normal. Is it?

Def not normal, everything opens instantly on mine (running bliss rom, elementalx cpu governor). Even on stock lollipop this happens? Any temperature extremes where you're at?
Try clearing the cache in recovery mode. Everything on mine opens as quick as I touch the screen. I'm rooted and on stock 6.0.

geez dude, 4 units? When i changed the CPU governor to elementalX and switched off some cores, it took like, 1 and a half second to open things. But i knew the root reason. Switch back to ondemand and the apps open faster than my fingers can click it (except some abominations like facebook or google now). It's really fast. I have some problems with scrolling smoothness and random stuttering on chrome but they open as fast as possible.

are you using an sdcard as internal ? i started with a clean install and before i installed any new apps i made my 32GB class 10 mem part of the internal and installed my apps, omfg apps like facebook , twitter and google plus were awful, so i moved facebook back to real internal and facebook works fine. so anything that runs slow i move back to true internal, games dont seem to be effected and i can keep them on the sdcard.
hope this helps
Just checked mine. Hangouts press the app bang opens straight up. I came from OPO. Swapped it for a LG g4 then couple days after swapped for my MXs had the OPO for 1year and half. Great phone. Shame about the companies customer service.

To the OP, are you referring to initially opening an app after reboot or reopening it after it's been opened already?
The latter will of course be faster because it's cached. The former will take a second or two depending on how big the app is.
Download size gives a rough indiciation - most google apps are fat, search, maps, chrome, gmail, etc.

Bugs I've reported.
I've found 2 devices that the bluetooth profiles aren't correct, but worked in Marshmallow.
Bluetooth itself will sometimes just stop. flipping to airplane mode and back fixes.
My Knox stuff all janked up.
Some knox based apps think older version installed and wont work.
Downloading apps from Play store or Samsung store causes user interface lag during the install.
I've had 2 occasions where items in accessibility service that were ON reset to off.
No themes in store. Themes that you had installed before somewhat stay enabled but a few graphical items where apps have changed.
VR stuff was listed in FAQ as not functional. FAQ is correct.
Every now and then, maybe once a day, I've had the Google Play Services has stopped, hasn't affected anything.
well i managed to force close nougat on my S7 doing some heavy multi tasking and video at the same time ...locked it up and forced a restart , then had to hard shut down 2 times to even be able to get back in without it locking up on me

I freaking love nougat... my battery is great....i have no issues...no systemui problem...no mms sms or call issues. I disabled all of Verizon bloat..so it looks pretty slim. ...LTE is great here in nashville. No Wi-Fi calling..but I could careless about that. It's smooth and stable. No overheating. I keep forgetting I'm on T-MOBILE and this is a ported firmware. I think this will be my daily driver from here until S8 Edge comes out. I use adgaurd to block ads and for the first time.... I don't care about having root access. This is the best!
I missed the beta so messing with verizon update.
Overall not to impressed at this point. If I had the actual TMo Beta it might be different, but I am assuming they are mostly set up the same way.
Antutu scores only in the 60's. O course I don't have the new LTE+ TMo modem, so downloads not very fast.
Up to 89,000 second time - a little below where I was with Echoe
I'm on T-Mobile - this Beta is running great. Just a couple small issues, Facebook force closes, some alert sounds ring on and on, other than that - excellent so far
