[Q] Lost IMEI and Baseband ( unrooted s4 i9500) - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys.
My brother has S4 i9500 and he recently updated his phone via ota (official samsung update). But the update could not be done successfully and he removed the battery after waiting for 45 mins.
The result, the phone lost its BASEBAND version and IMEI.
1. The phone is not rooted. Therefore no efs Backup.
2. It's out of warranty.
3. The Samsung service centre said the motherboard need to be replaced which will cost $100-120.
4. I did factory reset already. No help. Now the phone is back to the 4.4.2 android.
Pls help me guys. How can I get the IMEI and BASEBAND version back.

In the future, please do not cross post. That's frowned upon at virtually every forum.

Just flash the latest lollipop and you will be fine.

Try to flash lollipop moderm, it might help ...

[Q] SG Note 3 Showing Custom Software

If some one can help me with my troubles it will be greatly appreciated, I recently purchased a SG Note 3 Brand new sealed and brought it to a store to unlock and the person tried and said this phone was new and was not able to be software unlocked unless by code which was more expensive so i declined. While waiting in the mean time i started reading xda forums for info on rooting my note 3,Where i discovered Canadian SM-900W8's weren't locked to a specific carrier.I proceeded to get my phone rooted and then discovered my phones knox was tripped and shows i have an custom software on it,other then bringing it to the store i haven't done anything else to my phone.
So my questions:
1.Should i do an EFS back up then Restore to official then re-root? while reading forums read somewhere sometimes restoring to official can also damage the EFS partition?
2.Should i proceed rooting my phone in the state its in or do i restore with official Firmware then proceed to root?
3.Is update 4.4.2 able to be rooted if yes, should i restore my phone straight to 4.4.2 then root?
4.if i update to 4.4.2 do i loose the ability to switch between Canadian carriers.
5.Is Knox 0X1 able to be reset for Qaulcomm yet?
6.Am i missing anything else before i begin ?

1. You don't need to restore something that's not broken.
2. Since you already tripped KNOX, yes.
3. 4.4.2 can be rooted.
4. 4.4.2 doesn't prevent you from doing anything related to carriers when compared to 4.3.
5. No
6. Flash stock using Odin by updating to 4.4.2 official Sammy NB7 ROM. Then begin there.

Follow my guide in my signature. If you update to NA2 bootloader, you are able to downgrade.

[Q] Towelroot is giving me problems. How do I get this off?

a few days ago I rooted my s5 with this towelroot tool grom geospot. The reason I used this one is because the article said knox will not be tripped. However, it is giving me problems such as going dead all the time. I have to take the phone out of the case and then to take the battery out and put it back in to reset the phone. It seems that have to do this a lot. I did a factory reset after the root so this should not be the problem. I want this off my phone. I want to go back to stock KitKat 4.4.2. Will somebody show me where my stock files are or help me fix this problem? I appreciate any help that I can get with this!
I have model# SM-G900V
Carrier: Verizon
Software Version: Kitkat 4.4.2

Download firmware from Sammobile and flash with KIES or Odin.
Also next time it will be more helpful if you post the last 4 characters of your build number in settings > About device for example ANG2 or ANE2 etc

Galaxy S4 without network signal. Please help.

First, I have a Galaxy S4 i9505 (4G), the problem does not affect my device, but the device's my cousin who is a Samsung Galaxy S4 i9500 (3G).
He recently purchased the unit from another person, the unit worked well, but had a small defect in the charging connector ...
He asked me to sell one of my cases and battery why his battery was apparently bad, why was not possible give loads on the battery, I managed to solve this problem.
The problem came when he asked me to update the device to Android 4.4.2 KitKat by several improvements, I downloaded the latest firmware available at SamMobile site and after that did the flash using Odin.
Knox had in 0x1 (the unit had been modified) and I read on some forums that night, that when doing upgrade directly from 4.2.2 version, especially XXUBMGA the EFS partition changes shape, thus having little network problem and signal.
Link : http://www.grupoandroid.com/topic/83400-modem-mg9-y-posteriores-modifican-la-efs/
My questions are, it is possible to resolve this situation? I read previously that the IMEI is restored from a backup made previously it is possible to recover the network signal, but made no backup of EFS ....
I also read a long time ago that it is impossible to downgrade to ROM's with lower versions if there Knox installed.
I did the update of Android 4.2.2 to 4.4.2 using Odin.
If possible downgrade, any of you can share the ROM XXUBMGA 4.2.2 for S4 i9500? Or tell me some possible solution installing another ROM / modem?
I am currently trying different modems and using the OmegaROM in my cousin's S4.
Thx
Extract the modem.bin file from the ROM download and flash that through Odin to correct this. Or simply flash the ROM itself again if you don't want to go through the hassle of getting just the modem file out of the download. Either option will restore the network.
The IMEI in this case likely has nothing to do with the problem you're having, unless the IMEI reports itself as null or starts with 049. If you want a proper backup of the IMEI, you want to download AntaresOne's backup tool from the I9505 Development subforum and follow his instructions to make the backup.

Null IMEI and Unknown Baseband on SM-N9005

Hello All,
Please forgive me if this is the wrong area to post this, this is my first post here.
I have a Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 that I purchased. The previous owner had it rooted and the leaked Lollipop 5.0 installed. I tried to flash it back to stock (Australian) however it near bricked it. It was running really slow, a hell of a lot of lagging. I installed the DirtyUnicorn Lollipop 5.0 custom rom, and the phone runs fine, except for the fact it has no radio (i.e. no 4G/3G/2G connectivity and no telephony).
I searched for days and days on end looking for a modem/baseband compatible but nothing seems to work. Would anyone have any info on how to get the radio working? I really don't care about going back to full stock, as long as I can use the radio. I have included some photos of the system info and the sticker under the battery.
Thanks for your help,
Christopher H.
Restore your backed up EFS .
Pointless flashing a modem with no IMEI .

Still got no available update for I9500 (lollipop)

Hi everyone ! I have my s4 for like 4-5 months and i still didn't get the lollipop update, i'm frustrated because i have a lot of friends who have got it and mine says "The latest updates have already been installed" . I just flashed stock 4.4.2 firmware so the device is CLEAN. Any ideas ? Should i try to flash 5.0 directly ? Are there any risks?
Samsung rolls its updates out based on region, carrier and production date, it's normally a few months before everyone gets the update. The update's been ready for quite a long time, but even mine only got it last month. Sit tight!
As to flashing, well the risk is bricking your phone.
I know that, and the fact is all my friends are on the same carrier and they got the update months ago. I strongly thinks it's my phone the problem.
No one wishing to help ? I'm sure it's something wrong with my phone, but i can't say what, i am just a noob. Last time i flashed some 5.0 CM firmware, then when i flashed 4.4.2 stock, i had lost my IMEI or something like that, i had to search internet 4 days to 'repair' it. It may have something to do with it. PLEASE help me ! If you won't help i will flash it manually w/e.
You can flash via ODIN, there is no risk and its virtually impossible to brink the S4 if you read well and perform everything according to instructions.
My i9505 was originally from Austrailia - Vodafone, and AFAIK it still has 4.4.2. Thankfully, my phone wasn't carrier locked so i was able to safely flash 5.0.1 of another region and its working perfectly for a long time now.
Flash there's no risk

I had your same problem. All my friends got it in December but I Didn't get it. So I flashed the stock Russian Rom which was the 1st one to come out via Odin. So there was no issue only google now didn't work as it is banned in Russia. Finally after a few months samsung released it for my country and I flashed my country update over Odin and google now also returned. Flashing via Odin is the best way to receive the update for impatient ones like us (oh and don't worry once you flash your country Rom back you will also get OTA updates as normal) l
