Not an easy answer sadly.
If your a rom flasher go with the snapdragon as it seems to be easier to work with in that way and there are more Roms. I guess it's more of a known quantity in the 805 and a good solid common cpu. Likely the most popular cpu is the 805.
Exynos from what I've seen has better benchmark scores (I have C variant and have been close to 60k) better ram performance and 8 core so that can help. Also the Exynos cpu has the possibility to unlock 64bit, far as I know this will never be possible on the sd805.
Exynos also has incoming CM12.1 which should open up the rom gates to all AOSP and help catch up the snapdragon versions in that area.
I'm gonna say go for the Exynos it has a lot of potential and overall performance very solid.
But I'm a bit biased as I own that device.
Hope that helps you bro

910F , better ROMs, better compatibility and more widely used.
The exynos may have its advantages on paper but in real usage its down to what you can use and how it feels.
If it were me I'd get what I'd already have which is the 910F.
If I were buying a new phone now. It'd probably be the HTC M9.

Sorry but I have to agree, please use the search function and be respectful of other users. There are already multiple threads like this one, tbh do what the above person has suggested and get the M9 so we will have one less arrogant rude person in this section, cheers!

Hi, I want to get a new Galaxy S5 and I am not pretty sure which model should I buy.
My carrier does not support LTE, I think it will be supported in a year and a half.
Which model has better performance without thinking about the need of LTE?
Which processor has better performance? Exynos 5 Octa or Snapdragon 801?
Thanks!
I am using lte model but I don't turn on the lte data. I think hsdpa+ is fast enough. Of course octa core were faster than the lte model. But if we look s4 device, snapdragon model were support by many developers

1. Snapdragon version if ure into gaming cos it has a slightly better gpu though the Mali T628 is powerful enough.. If ure into flashing custom roms, the snapdragon version will obviously have better developer community!
2. Strictly based on CPU performance, exynos version will be better..
Buy wisely!

Yes definitely..
Exynos 5 Octa.
SD801 version has LTE, better GPU optimisation for HD games, better developer support, higher clock speed(dunno if that's an advantage).
Exynos version has a faster CPU(According to benchmarks and due to HMP), possibly better battery life(big.LITTLE is supposed to aid that), maybe lesser heating (according to @AndreiLux), and a little smoother(according to a few people).
Gaming is not that bad on the Exynos and it plays most HD games flawlessly(check the gaming tests on youtube).
In the end, they are not that difderent from each other. If LTE is a must for you or you need more ROMs, get the Snapdragon. Else, get the Exynos.

I'm not sure whether the Exynos S5 actually has the Wolfson DAC.
But of course, that is a big plus for the Exynos if it is present.

WM5110E Wolfson DAC is integrated in the Exynos version, which is an audio chip capable of giving high quality sound output through the headphone jack. Samsung usually messes up the software side so someone, usually Supercurio, has to fix it with a mod a.k.a voodoo sound!

So the Exynos model can give higher quality of sound output?
And why does the snapdragon has better development support than the Exynos? Because every year before this one the Exynos models were the international ones and consequently the more popular with better development support like the i9300 and i9500

It should if the software side is on par with the DAC. The other problem would be remedied in the next flagship model as the Exynos chip would be accompanied with an Intel LTE modem apparently, which would eliminate the need for a Snapdragon variant!
Regarding voodoo for S5, or any other device, I wonder if that will continue, since Supercurio is now part of CyanogenMod/One Plus team.

About better development, you should consider that this only applies to AOSP, if you like CM, ParanoidAndroid and so on go for the S801, if you don't then buy the Exynos.

Oh now I understand, the nexus has the same processor unit right? the snapdragon 800 and that means more AOKP roms compatible with this model right? What about stock ROMS? Most of them should support the exynos too?
I have another question, my brother is in Hong Kong right now? Are those models SM-G900H and SM-G900F are available to purchase there?
Thanks a lot!
Hai guys,
I want to buy Samsung GALAXY Note 3. Im coming from S3 (with Exynos processor). I want to know which version is better? Exynos or Snapdragon? Samsung sellers say that Exynos is much better than Snapdragon, but from all other medias, such as internet and youtube, say Snapdragon is better. So im confused.. Please tell me the truth. Hope you will help me...

Performance is smooth. Apps load up quick... Ram usage about 1.7 GB out of 2.3 GB even in the heavy load scenario..... Even the mighty touchwiz can't slow it down ....
Personally I have the Exynos one and I am crying because it has no custom rom...:crying:
What i've read, does Snapdragon version have some fast charging that Exynos doesn't, so you'll charge your phone a lot faster? At least my Snapdragon device really charges very fast with stock charger. Also what i've seen, Exynos development is much slower than Snapdragon on Sammy's phones / tablets.
And again, what I have read from the web, Exynos devices have had problems that Snapdragon doesnt, just can't name any of them. Lol.
[OT] Same thing with Note Pro 12.2 (which is basically Note 3 but bigger in size, or is it?). Snapdragon owners have had no problems while Exynos owners have some kind of BSOD, heating problems, screen problems and lags while gaming. [/OT]
So I'll never buy an Exynos one, but thats just me

Thank you guys. From all of your reviews, I'm deciding to buy a Snapdragon one
I am going to buy Note 4 soon but before I make final decision I must to know:
Camera in both versions - Exynos and Snapdragon are the same, right?
Battery life is marginally better on Exynos, right?
Exynos means less community support - example problem of getting CyanogenMod. But does it mean I cannot install any other ROM? Or I can't only those without TouchWiz? To be honest I always install ROMS based on TouchWiz, those without, example Cyanogen are crap for me.

3- Nope! they are pretty much the same in this case.

Exynos better because of
1- the Wolfson DAC built-in a dedicated audio chip that makes a huge difference in audio output and it's compatible with iRig devices if you want to record instruments on your Note and it's the first and the only Android phone that supports it.
2- 64-bit capability the 5433 has Arm cortex A53/A57 cores so that is pretty damn better than the old a15/a17 (I think) Don't forget that the Exynos is built on the "new" 20nm process that is very powerful and power efficient.
3-If you care about benchmarks the Exynos destroy the SD 805 44000 vs 55000 on geekbench
That's from a personal experience I own a Exynos-powered Note 4 and I'm in love with it!

If you want to use the Gear VR - only Snapdragon runs smooth because of the better GPU
Not my oppinion but an official statement
go for exynos..this time snapdragon batter life is not good and exnos is good all the way even in benchmark
Unfortunately in States we dont have much choice. Only Snapdragon phones fully support available LTE bands.

It's not that the Snapdragon 805 doesn't perform as well as the Exynos 5433 SOC. They both are excellent performing SOCs. It's just that the Snapdragon 805 has a bad habit of overheating very easily, which is a common problem among Qualcomm's Snapdragon series of SOCs.

I've been happily using the Snapdragon 805 variant since launch week and it runs just fine. Battery is great, I get around 6.5h SOT if I do try push it (usually going to bed by the time it hits 4h).
Both variants are great, and you should have a similar experience on both on Android 6.0.1.

The Mali T-760MP6 is a excellent GPU and will run any game you throw it's way like nothing. While the Adreno maybe slightly better. The Mali T-760 isn't a slouch in the gaming department either. I use my N910C for gaming all the time and I can literally play any game I want on it. Even République, which is quite a heavy 3D intensive game and my N910C runs it like it was nothing!

ROM Support seems good.
Check out the Exynos Development Section
Snapdragon for gaming, media, and vr. Exynos for multitasking and background processing. From what I've read, both are fairly comparable but exynos may have better chance of seeing nougat update since it's more widely used internationally.
Actually, I have used both of them.
The Exynos wins, at least in terms of a battery life (+30 min of SoT compared to the SnapDragon) and earbuds sound quality. Moreover, it heats up less than the Snap.
the n910c seems to be better in every aspect
Guys I had the snapdragon variant and I just got the exynos model now... Huge difference! The exynos hands down wins! By far better...

The only reason I see to get the Snapdragon variant is if you wanna use AOSP based ROMs. Exynos all the way.
Nougat? No way mate.
Depends on how your usage is , if you use your device for office purpose , then EXYNOS is what I advice .
Exynos 5433 is 64 bit and snapdragon 805 is 32 bit .
Exynos is octacore and big.LITTLE's architecture utilises the two quad core processor very efficiently, the battery is not bad on any variant comparitively.
Snapdragon is better in terms of development.
As snapdragon is open source , it gets more support from developers .
If you put heavy tasks on your note 4 , then EXYNOS will handle it very well without any lag.
On the other hand snapdragon is well supported by gaming softwares like gameloft . So in Gpu related tasks , snapdragon will perform better.
If you will be using it for a year , then snapdragon is better cause custom roms are well supported on it.
CM14 :Nougat is already in alpha stage .
Final verdict:
Snapdragon : if you are an avid gamer and also because it is well supported by developers .
Exynos :because it performs heavy tasks without any lag at all.
Finally its your choice...
For snapdragon , n910g or n910f is preferable , mostly look for n910f . Both have same development support.
For exynos, i dint know ,look for the one with unlocked bootloader.
