A friend of mine has a LG g2 and phone is for repair. He has a pc backup made from Pc Suite.
Is there a way to get contacts from the pc backup and put it in an android phone?

Only works on LG phones with LG backup app and if the models aren't the same may some data will be lost in the process.

Well, it is a good thing that lg pc suite, restores contacts in its phone memory. Problem solved.

Problem is that my lg app don't find any updates.
So the following happened :
I updated the G2 through the PC Suite and this update bricked my device.
But it took an backup before.
Amazon now sends me a G4 as replacement.
I need to recover this backup to get my Contacts / Photos.
Do I need to buy a G2 or can I recover everyting through a Emulator ?

Like the title suggests, I need to recover data from am LG backup file. Long story short: my G4 died, and is being replaced with the S7 Active. Because root was not achievable on the AT&T variant, my only viable option for a standard backup was the proprietary one. Which was actually quite recent.
I can't tell if the SmartSwitch app will do this or not? The file in question is currently on a microSD card.

Dear good day, I tell them what my S7 edge realize .What do first is to install an official rom from SamMobile Free German origin, then perform the process for rootearlo. When trying to update via OTA me a sign appears: The operating system of your device has been modified without authorization. Try to download software updates using your PC eb smart switch.
Today when connected to the PC with Smart switch tells me that I have an update. but not if it could have problems being Root.
You can upgrade, but you Will lose root

You can't install an OTA if you are rooted.

I got the same message but them appers that it needs 800MB avaible and its weird bc i have 12 GB on the internal and 1GB on the external... what can I do?

does your phone get recognized by smart switch when you were rooted
did backup and restore options worked?
i had note 2 running note 4 rom( with buid prop indicating phone model being note 4 sm-n910c) and i had problems with backup and restore where the smartswitch would freeze my pc
now i have a proper note 4 and i was wondering should i root it or not ?
I am curious how Samsung Smart Switch reads sms Sqlite db as apk and transfer to other paired phone. Smart Switch is a regular apk downloadable from Google Play Store or Galaxy store. In phone without rooting, would the code snippets from "android: requesting root access in your app"

I just wondering why LG software backup does not support my G6 (brand Vodafone).
I can check for updates etc etc but I can't do a backup of the device because software tell me that G6 is not supported!!
Someone can help me to solve this problem?

Today I guess I found a solution.
I have installed via LGUP the firmware V10t (no brand), made 2 hard reset and magically LgBridge now support my device.
Unfortunately all the bloatware is still present but I am able to do a backup.
I don't know if some hard reset can solve the problem without flashing firwmare .

Thanks for the info but my device has only an issue with LGBridge Backup.
The solution already posted does not seem to work. Today LG Bridge continues to report my G6 as not supported by the software. :/ :/
I think the reason for mine not working is that I removed some of the LG bloatware, probably some of it needed for the communication with LG Bridge when connected to PC.
In my case, I don't think so because I debloated the device and Lg Bridge worked with no issue.
