As a community we should make noise in the social network ... Verizon is silent and we do not have we heard .. dates, status, when buying the phone last year told me that in December we would Lillipop .. good and is April Lollipop and does not have time ... we need to campaign all on Twitter recommending not buy the phone .. so no one falls more in our uncertain world, as the Cell has no future .. the DroidTurbo is a like Zombie , no future.
So I hear recommendations .. put something like
No Buy #DroidTurbo @verizon and @motorola no promises with updates, is a SmartPhone with no future
propositions hear
This sounds like a good idea, but since we don't have the biggest community, I'm not sure if Verizon would even care or listen.

I support you fully.
Ok, so Lollypop is MIA. Big freekin deal. I upgraded my Nexus 10 to Lollypop. Now, every time I rent a movie on play, I restarts my Nexus and won't play the movie. So I end up watching it on my Turbo or my G3. Lollypop needs 2 stay in the oven until its FULLY baked. Besides, I bet we'd loose our Mofo root if we took the OTA.

That isn't necessarily an issue with lollipop. I have same device with lollipop and zero issues.
Oh trust me. Ive been spouting messages to Verizon and Motorola about my turbo not having lollipop on Twitter. Sometimes, I do get a response, but you know they are always auto replies. It's B.S. how quiet they are about this. I know alot of peoples paitents are wearing thin. They just need to give us a honest, straight up response to this issue.
Well, they don't 'need' to tell us anything... Technically. Hell they aren't legally obligated to upgrade it at all, let alone give a status.
But it would be nice.

They honestly do not care, if they did they would have said something by now. You're just wasting your time.

Yeah, well a lot of kickstarter projects say they will ship product and don't too. Doesn't mean there is legal recourse.
I do agree it would be nice if they communicated with us more. I just don't agree they are obligated to.

Where was it officially announced? I don't recall seeing anything but unsubstantiated rumors.
Honestly the customers are nobodies. the salesmen are there to talk up a product in order for you to spend money/sign a contract. after that verizon/motorola does not care. motorola mobility is a failing company which is why motorola and google sold it. soon lenovo will know the failure of motorola. We are but a small spec in the verizon market. even I read an article the fact they lost 150k people to t-mobile and sprint, they did not care 2 bits about. you really think a small population of a minute group is going to do anything when they dont care about the loss of 150k people? just sit back, relax and either wait for the update which may or may not come or go buy a new phone.
I gave up and went to the nexus 6. I remember from a soak test that verizon only reported 20k sales at that point in time for the turbo. So we have probably been long forgotten.

I finally got an answer from Verizon support on Twitter. A straight foward one at that. They told me that "We would love to give you a timeline however, we currently dont have one."

I still have my turbo sitting on my desk. Waiting for lollipop to fire it back up and switch. I love the phone. Just discouraged after the quick updates to moto xs and the lack of support for their most recent flagship. did my part. hashtagged the turbo and including moto and verizon in it.
Bad idea
Bad idea. Have some patience. The update had some bugs, so maybe they are trying to reduce the bugs. Stop this stupid "campaign" and let them work. They could have said no to making it, because it doesn't take 3 seconds to update it. Try waiting until June. It might be out before then

Wait until June.... be patient..... NO. We bought a flagship device to avoid fragmentation with regards to the android operating system. It is absolutely ridiculous that Samsung can get Lollipop on their 2013 Flagship the S4 before we can get it on a new device. Moto has had months since Google pushed it to AOSP to make it work and they haven't. Do you think that every other manufacturer didn't have bugs? No they did but they probably stuck to a timeline to satisfy its customers. Honestly if Motorola and Verizon would give us our bootloader unlock keys we would have a working bug free build of Lollipop within 12 hours. I will never buy a non nexus motorola device ever again. So there. RANT OVER.

Just saw this posted, what do ya'll think?
http://www.mobilemag.com/2010/12/27/verizons-samsung-fascinate-getting-froyo-before-years-end/
Actually this has been discussed. It is believed that this chart is an outdated chart from Verizon. There are things on the chart that support it being outdated. I not trying to rain on your parade, as I would love Froyo on my Fascinate before the end of the year as well, I am just not certain it will happen. I know the Epic's Froyo update that was supposed to go live 12/26 got postponed, so maybe Samsung is having issues with Froyo on certain Galaxy S phones (CDMA Galaxy S's to be exact). Either that or they are just deciding to pool resources into a Gingerbread update. Either way the lack of updates and update statuses from Verizon and Samsung is leading to the frustration over the lack of an update. All I can recommend now is patience. We will get it when they decide to release it. Either that or Verizon will get the iPhone in Jan. or Feb. and offer some insane upgrade pricing to entice people to move to that smartphone. Who knows, lol.
Ahh, I must have missed that one, I'm in no hurry but I thought this was something new. Thanks....
I will rain on the parade, because that chart's an internal Verizon training tool that came out before the Fascinate actually launched. This whole thing is getting kind of ridiculous -- Android Central put it up on their website as new, exclusive news, and all these other overeager Android bloggers leaped on it like hotcakes without doing any additional research. Is it possible the upgrade will come out before the year ends? Possible, yes. Likely, absolutely not. But this chart doesn't increase the likelihood one way or the other.
And on another note, as the previous poster mentioned this has been posted before -- actually, this is the third time in as two days -- which is why people generally suggest looking over recent threads before posting something you think may be new.
On Verizon's website there are software update instructions, has the 1500 already received an update for 2.1? Traded my buddy for this phone about a week ago and he had no idea what I was talking about when I asked if he ever had to update it, hehe
FWIW, on Samsung's website they show the Fascinate as having 2.2.
That is strange. I just saw that. It was 2.1 only a couple days ago. Shenanigans? Or a lead?
Talked to Samsung tech support. They confirmed that new phones will ship with froyo pre-installed. They would not confirm or deny if existing phones would receive the update.
That is misleading. And this shows under the verizon model fascinate, in case anyone is wondering.

I have to call BS on Samsung. I just got a new Fascinate from Best Buy last week (just switch to Verizon on the 15th of Dec, originally got the wife a incredible, but she wanted the same phone I got, so went back to get a fascinate for her) and that phone was new and did not have 2.2 on it. I wonder what kind of BS they are pulling here. I will gladly take these phones back to go get a 2.2 Fascinate before my 30 days exchange time is up. It really doesn't make sense not to release an update to current owners but to put it on new phones (which means it must be ready, or the new phones maybe an updated hardware version?). What Samsung and Verizon are doing here is incredibly stupid.
just talked to a service rep... i know i know.....
i asked why it says 2.2 next to the fascinate on their page...he said
"2.2 will be out ota in the next few days"...
I said "
yea we heard that before.... any chance you can just give it to me????"
the response was...
good day sir...

I think its time to spam facebook and twitter with our discontent. Really in this day and age with the internet and social networking sites, to not say anything about the update (but put it front and center on your product page that the phone has a version of the OS that it does not) is just showing poor customer appreciation.

It is sad but they don't care. They got your (and my) money and the only thing they care about is this quarters profits. That's business these days. The real issue here is that in order for Samsung to sell these phones they intentionally misled consumers into believing that the devices would be updated very shortly after their release. I'm sure it's no coincidence that this update will take place right around Q2-2011; they've had this for a while and have been holding out on us.

My chat with Samsung today...
Please wait for a Samsung Agent to respond.
You are now chatting with 'Stella'
Visitor: hello stella
Stella: Hi, thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support. How may I help you today?
Stella: Hi, Please go ahead with the query.
Visitor: i own a vibrant and want to know when i will get the froyo update pls
Stella: I understand that you are looking for Android 2.2 update for your Samsung Mobile. Am I correct?
Visitor: yes
Stella: Thank you for the confirmation.
Stella: Unfortunately, as of now Android 2.2 is not Officially released in US.
Visitor: WHEN will it be released
Visitor: i will not buy another samsung product because of this
Stella: Unfortunately there is no update available at this time for your phone, nor is there an estimated date of one being released. We are unable to speculate when/if a software revision might be available due to the fact that this might lead to inaccurate information and confusion.
Visitor: hmm
Visitor: how do i return my product
Visitor: can i send it to you guys for something different
Visitor: something with 2.2 installed
Visitor: the only reason i bought this phone was to use skype but that is not available until 2.2 is released
Stella: As 2.2 is not yet released, as of now there is no phone with the 2.2 built in.
Stella: I understand that you have been waiting for the update for so long.
Stella: However, the update should be released in upcoming days.
Visitor: days and not weeks?
Visitor: hello?
Stella: Yes,
This will, also, not end well.

Seems I re-call a post awhile back with Stella as the same CSR.... and she said the exact same thing to this person she said to the last "DAYS"...
I think this is Samsungs standard scripted reply to consumers asking this question. So if anyone does call this will be the same message you will receive also..
Let's face it. We, customers, cannot pressure Samsung to do anything. Samsung simply does not care about us. You want to make a difference, stop buying Samsung products. That is the only way to make Samsung to listen to consumers.

Bull.
Look at it this way, your a tmobile customer, you have a upgrade, and your looking to get a new phone, you go and see some phones, the most noticeable are, the Vibrant, or HTC... something can't remember name, those are the best phones for Tmobile.
I went on and bought a vibrant because there are about 200 if not more HTC, and i'd heard good things about vibrant. so i bought it.
I still love my phone, just not the customer support by Samsung, Tmobile's doing good for me on customer support.
Maybe you won't buy samsung products, maybe a few hundred won't.
They have TOO MANY PRODUCTS. You can't go and avoid every samsung product, theyre in every market that involves technology, and are a well known brand.
NOT buying their products wont hurt them, it'll hurt you and only you.
a few hundred people, they don't care about, and you certantly will NEVER get everyone who has a Galaxy S (over over 6 million people) to stop buying their products.

okay prove them wrong, i'll gladly argue on.
You give your hard earned money to the company, because you bought the product, they didn't go "BUY THIS WE'LL GET YOU THE FROYO RIGHT AFTER YOU DO!"
They said froyo will come out soon. soon can mean a minute, a day, a decade, a century.
NO company thats big, microsoft, apple, samsung, google...
care about less than .5% of their consumers.
If somehow we managed to bring the PRESS into this and get them talking about samsung having NO customer support, then yes, we can hurt them business-wise.
but a few hundred people not buying their products won't do anything.
If you won't buy that product, someone else will.
There are 310,552,747 people in the U.S.
take out 5 million, and maybe more from that.
There's still 300Million and more people who CAN buy the product.
not to mention the whole world.
6,890,405,157 population.
To ALL,
I just had an idea that might actually force the Motorola to update our Atrix.
Before you think: "Is it another mobilization? No use, will not go nowhere," let me explain:
Actually, since there was a huge mobilization in this direction, but unfortunately, nowadays, petitions (signatures) no longer work as before.
Today petitions has very little visibility, limited almost only one who signed himself. This is not enough to achieve the target company directly, and even if we reach a sufficient number to lawsuits, companies have good lawyers that can prolong the process for years ...
Thus, when we can force the Motorola Atrix update to 4.0, we'll be running 8.0 on other phones ... Unfortunately it does.
Therefore, I am proposing a new form of mobilization, which will not reach the courts, but will use freedom of expression to reach the Motorola where it really hurts, in their public image!
We have seen many cases where "viral videos" have reached millions of hits and really solved certain problems. This is because the company's image just impaired, and it will always want to improve your public image again.
Anyway, the idea is the same, VIRAL VIDEOS.
But not just a video with millions of hits, but thousands of videos!
The idea is each record its own video, which should be short, with only a few seconds, stating the following sentence: MOTOROLA, UPDATE MY PHONE!
- You can record video wherever and however you want, if possible showing the phone, so that everyone knows that this is an Atrix.
- You can supplement with more phrases, like: DO NOT LET DIE ATRIX, or ATRIX IS AN EXCELLENT PHONE, or STOP DISRESPECT THE CONSUMER.
- If you have sufficient knowledge, feel free to make videos more elaborate, like this or this (I’m from Brazilm and I don’t know others international samples).
LET US FILL ALL YOUTUBE WITH THESE VIDEOS!
Post here your links to your videos, share links on social networks, to publish as much as possible!
Soon I'll be doing mine, and you?
Wow this is good idea Thanks
No.
Stop begging. Stop humiliating yourself.

The only real cure is to stop purchasing anything Motorola has to offer.

Dear Leon,
I am that committed Motorola resource What is it that you need besides the ICS kernel sources that we are already working on? btw..I have done some kernel hacking myself in my past life so its not like I don't understand what this is all about.
I am not saying that because I am an ego-maniac I seriously want to help where I can. I can't pull out engineers working on critical stuff to come to this forum and listen to rants. If you want their help, you need to ask yourself "what is it that I want to ask them when they are assigned to me( besides ICS kernel )".
AFAIK, there is no other request besides the ICS kernel. Also, I have been on direct IM with people who have been working on porting ICS on their own and even they have said that the only way to make progress is to get the entire kernel source.
Before I can go to engineering and ask for support, I need to know what they are going to be doing. That would help me determine which door I need to knock.
You can't blindly ask for engineering support. There are many people with varying skillsets working on various projects. I cannot just commit to assign a resource when I don't know who & what for. So when I mean " Assigning internal developers on this will not be possible" I meant I am still understanding what the community wants besides ICS kernel.
Lastly, No matter what I say, the community perception ain't going to change until we deliver something. We understand that very well. I think I have been as honest as I can be on this forum. We need to get appropriate clearance from carriers, partners and vendors to release software that never shipped out. You cant just go to them and demand for it. At the same time we don't want to jeopardize any other negotiations that may be going on with them. There is timing involved as well as cost/benefit projections. And you'd be surprised that after all the crap that gets posted, Motorola is still committed to try to make it happen.
Hope that puts the question of commitments to rest. Lets move on..

This is just exactly what Motorola wants hear from us. "We are give it up this update..."
YES, I'll follow this mobilization. Motorola will never hear us until its flag will stained with its own neglect.
Follow me who wants your update.
Good idea bro. Even if we don't support motorola in purchasing their product, there are many people out there than us especially those who upgraded to latest Moto devices that support Moto. And they will never give a damn unless we staind them in public.

u know i dont really care for the update... i just want to use my phone like i want so i think to release the kernel source or source code would be better. Getting that would be higher. If u are unsatisfied with the atrix get another phone and learn from the past: "if want update. Buy A Nexus!!". i only bought atrix because of the lapdock if u dont use it than u phone choice was slightly bad.
Just for and end: Just use that u already have and if u complain then u choice was just bad. Learn from the mistakes, thats life
I was in your shoes once. Move on, accept you won't get an update and make sure you remember this when you buy a new phone.
I bought a Nexus 4. Came with Android 4.2, awesome build quality and specs and not to mention so cheap. Stick with the Nexus line in the future.

I think this is a great idea.
And for those saying that you are tired of this and that we should move to another phone, not all of us live in great countries like united states where this stuff is actually cheap, i paid a fortune for this phone 7 months ago and i really cant pay again for another phone that is updated, not that i dont have money, but in my country phones are too ****ing expensive for just tossing them into the trash when we dont like them anymore, so shut the hell up and leave this forum if you already bought another beautiful smartphone, but there is a lot of us which can't buy another one so every shot we have to make motorola suffer and give us hope for an update, is more than enough.
Goodbye!
Here at Brazil, a nexus 4 costs about US$ 1000, not only US$399 or less that it costs at USA.
Here, a Xiaomi MI2 costs about US$ 900, a Razr HD about US$ 800, and the Atrix about US$ 500, the same as an used Galaxy Nexus. They are very expensive phones. I can't simply buy another and abandon it.
So, I'll really fight for this update!

i can understand u. thats means u bought a phone so u can get the update and the functions. But life isnt like that... motorola is going to go down so i am thinking that they dont care anymore about the old phones because its too old. They have to make better phones (razr, razr i,...) that means to develop webtop, ics or something else its not worth for old phones.
Sry to say but u have live with it or fight against motorola but it only waste some time and nerves... for norhthing
With due respect to all the people on this thread, i urge everyone to stop courting/begging/demanding Motorola to release at least something that our devs could work with. There's a far greater chance of our in-house devs coming up with a working kernel for JB than Motorola listening to all the dissatisfied voices.
Guys, please stop to post here only to say "stop with this".
If you really don't believe in the idea here, respect the much others than believe, and just share the videos!
Thanks!

You won't get your Atrix updated.
The only real cure is to stop purchasing anything Motorola has to offer.
Ignore them! The same way they ignore you.

For those that think Moto will die, I have this to say:
Google bought them out, and Google is both honorable to us and respectful to our privacy. Just look at their privacy policy if you think they sell the information they collect. They don't. What they collect, they use for the sole purpose of improving their own products. I have a brother working for Google as in idea development, and a dear friend working for Google in the security dept. They both state that their users (specifically privacy) are their top concern at every moment.
That being said: with how big Google is, I seriously doubt Motorola will be dying anytime soon.
Now that doesn't mean Google has full control of Motorola. I realize that, but I have noticed some changes. For example, I noticed that they have a Bootloader Unlock Program now.
Not only that, but the build quality of their products have significantly increased.
I am not going to take sides on this argument of wanting the updates. Regardless of the fact that I want the updates, these phones are old, and there are companies Motorola has to go through to release this update or release the source code. For example: AT&T, Bell, or whatever carrier you have. This can take months to complete this process.
I honestly think Motorola has gotten the message that people want these updates, and I personally think that the only reason Motorola gets bad rep nowadays is because people are blaming them for things that aren't completely under their control. And if that is the case, spreading these videos only achieve one thing: more bad rep for a company that needs good rep to survive.
I have heard bad things about Motorola in the past, but I know Google is a good company, and I think that changes are going to come that will make Motorola a much better company, possibly even better than most other manufacturers. (I know that's exaggerating a bit...ahem...HTC, but still...you never know.)
Just a thread to discuss the lollipop ota for the Verizon moto x!
Any rumors?
It's Verizon. Will most likely be the last version to get any updates
Sometime between now and never
Remember last year Verizon was first and they released on the sixteenth for og x

Yeah, but they didn't have the turbo last year
I remember the note 3 took forever to get kk. I wouldn't be surprised its well into 2015 until we get lollipop
Well today's the sixteenth who knows
With the staged rollout model, even phones that have an ota available might not get them for another week or so. My Nexus 4 and 7 (2013) are both still waiting, and I won't be too concerned unless another week goes by without the update hitting.

It goes without saying, but updates for the Note 3 are not comparable to updates for the Moto X. Moto updates faster than any other brand....especially Samsung. Takes a while to update all the bloat Sammy puts on their phones.
I don't know when we will get the update, but I'd bet it's well before the end of the year.
Hopefully we can get root at least also. Lol
Well there has not been a soak test yet so immanent release is improbable.
Ikr. One can dream right lol. Came and went nothing. Oh well. I'm sure a soak will be soon. "We're working hard with our partners" soo

well, then it's not very reassuring that they haven't even gotten to step 1 with updates for us. this pretty much sums up my thoughts that verizon will screw us over. i was sold on this phone with the promises of fast updates, but seeing how verizon didn't really advertise the phone, no accessory makers even bothered with cases or accessories for this phone, it really seems like verizon and everyone else is basically saying screw the moto x. i really don't think the verizon version will get the attention or front running treatment that the 2013 model had. i really don't see L coming to the verizon version before december, possibly not even before 2015. i was hoping for good things for this phone, it doesn't seem like it's going to happen. motorola really screwed us over by releasing the turbo 2 weeks after the X. i think this is it for me with the x, i'll just get the new nexus once i can confirm it will work on verizon.

let me ask you a question, why do you think that Verizon screwed? Just because they did not come put with the update the day others got it does not mean they screwed you. Not even all the N5 has the OTA update so relax already it will come. Also to all the people complaining about Verizon you guys made that choice to be with a carrier that does not like unlocked boot loaders so if you want to change switch to a different carrier like T-Mobile and you can go out and get a pure Motox that's what I did I left sprint to get a really nice phone. So the choice us up to you guys just please stop b*itching about it already

I wouldn't say the 2013 X got front running treatment. There was the same problem with accessories. We got lucky that it was updated so fast. There was no real advertising with the 2013 either. Lollipop has been out for relatively no time. We all want it just as bad as the next guy, but give it a rest. It's been assured that the 2014 X will get it, and we will.
I have an idea: if we fill these people's inboxes with emails requesting at least a timeline for lollipop for the DT, then something might happen.

What am I missing here. Why is this such a big deal to people? My phone works just fine now that I am rooted. I can see it now we will get the update people want. They will then lose root because of it and just start complaining again. Maybe Verizon should just come out and say something like you will get it by 2016. Then everyone would complain about that. The pattern here is that people just want to complain about something. they always will. I'm not sure why everyone thinks that if they demand it, Verizon will go OH I'm sorry here it is. Too funny. Do you really think they are just sitting there saying how long can we hold it back to screw with everyone? There must still be problems with it. I know, have them just push it now so if it does not work right and jacks up your phone you can complain about that too.

How is Lollipop going for ya? Do you like those new kernel improvements now that you have root?
Oh...
I cannot access my school's Google Apps for Education account on my phone without Lollipop. I am the principal. This is a big deal. I know it is Lollipop because on my previous phone, I also couldn't access it, but after it was updated to Lollipop, I could.
Just to clear things up, I'm not saying VZW should rush the update. I'm all for a bug free experience. I and many others just wish they were a bit more transparent with their info instead of automated tweets and customer service replies.
I have a MUCH better idea
Be patient
They will have it before June most likely
They could release it now and your phone will be destroyed because of your impatience with them.????

Why are you defending them so much? Are you a member of the Dev team or the OTA approval team......
You don't get it, you just don't get it. There is no reason an update should take this long. Other manufacturers were able to push them out to their flagship AND IN ADDITION phones that were 2-3 years old faster than this. Our own here at XDA have built lollipop builds for some phones faster than moto and vzw. Get with the program see where we are coming from.
Maybe if they spoke up about the situation we wouldn't all be so distraught.

A demand would fall more silently than a professionally written letter requesting transparency.
Write it to whom you wish to speak to directly, share information about yourself, and keep it personal.
I once wrote a letter to the CEO of a game company overseas and he replied directly to what I had said and fixed my issue.
There is power in the pen. However remember: a gentle word turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Very wise words my friend. BTW, I enjoy your app for the BL unlock!

I can understand your frustration with being stuck on 4.4.4 and no information of update date. I have the moto maxx version of droid turbo which is updated to 5.0.2. Believe me, i would be happier if they didn't push their buggy 5.0.2 ota to my device and get updated to 5.1 directly like they will do with the turbo. Android 5.0.2 is buggy as hell with all devices. How do i know about that, i sell and service all of the smartphones, so i listen to my customer, most of them tell me their phone was running better with kitkat before they updated to lollipop. This is true for LG G2-G3, HTC M8, Samsung S5, S4, note 3 users. So, i totally understand verizon and motorola's decision of baking a bug free update for its users, patience is needed.

One of those reasons is also sheer laziness and lack of priority.
Lets put it in perspective.
The differences between 5.0.x and 5.1 do not warrant 6 months of development time to release an update, and thats assuming they release it next month. Starting from the Moto Maxx vendor and device overlay and Turbo props for 5.1, it would take me 2-3 full time days to do it and have it fully working (and I work slow). They likely have more than one person on it too.
I would not have expected them to release 5.1 that quick, but they could have EASILY had a soak out by now. Stop being an apologist for these fools. Motorola or Verizon is dragging their feet, and I suspect its probably more Verizon. Verizon uses regular employees to test OTAs; they don't even have proper testers, probably so they don't have to pay as much for testing. Thats how little regard they have for timeframes and priority.

You really think that its that easy, don't you? They might be adding extra to the device. It varies on the device depending on specs.

I am a software developer. I KNOW its that easy. They already have a working vendor and overlay for 5.0.2 to start from. The turbo is not starting from scratch and it does not differ in specs. Your scenario would also affect the Maxx, and I've not seen the battery die in 1 hour. Have you?

No I do not, nor is it relevant.
I didn't say a day or less. Go read again. If little ol' me can get it done in 2-3 days with the right blobs (which we don't have) and an unlocked BL (we also don't have), Motorola can manage a Lollipop release in under 6 months. This is all Verizon.
Building it doesn't take long.
Getting it through their extensive and cumbersome testing and qualification process, however, does take a very long time.
You can argue their qualification process is way too long, and not value added. But that is their decision, and the process they chose/believe in.

That sounded a lot like, "the company decides decide the BS to shovel you, eat it with a smile."
IF customers are not happy, they have every right to petition, complain, etc. to vocalize their complaint. Those that enjoy eating what is given to them, you guys simply don't have to read it. Don't undermine their stance because it doesn't apply to you. It isn't customer service if the customers aren't taken care of (no innuendo intended).
Just giving perspective on why it takes longer than just the time to build the software. Per an earlier post.
Complain / petition away. I never said not to.
