[Q] Google Hangouts Texting Help - Nook Touch General

Hello all. I have a nook simple touch 1st edition (no glow) , rooted and I have access to adb, and I am in need of a way to send and receive google hangouts messages over WiFi. I don't have an SD card, and have no need or desire to get any other google apps. This is slightly urgent, so any help I can get would be appreciated greatly.

Install a Gapps package and just uninstall every other Google app that comes with it except for Hangouts.

Android Calendar without google ?

Hi,
is it possible to use the android calendar without a google account?
Can we mod it to use it without google? I mean mod source code and compile it new?
Could some one do it?
Can i install a google account on defy without internet?
Mod?
Tool?
Hack??
Big thanks for help!
Bye
I think you can, but I haven't tried having removed the stock Calendar app already. BTW, there are some alternative calendar programs that don't use the built-in database, such as Fliq.
You can always change the codes yourself, but from the way you raised the question I don't think you know how to do (and nor do I), and I doubt if anyone is interested in doing this. Of course, if you're willing to pay a reasonable bounty then it's another question...
Finally, an Internet connection is needed for setting up a Google account.
Maybe if you tell us what you actually want to do, then we can give some more useful suggestions.
Hi, thanks for answer.
I only know jorte, how has got his own database.
All other software usere the google account.
Id like to have a google free sync android, which i must not show every time, if it has synced with google server.
Please, can you tell me which devices have got a own calendar which not use the google calendar?
The google calendar looks realy nice.
Why no one want a google free and without sync calender?
Btw i cant mod the code.
Iam not a coder, only admin.
Can i activate the calendar without a google account?
so that i can use a second software how uses the calendera database?
Big thanks
You can activate a Google account without syncing your Calendar, Contacts and such with Google. They can be disabled in Settings.
If you want to go a bit further, just remove the respective *Sync.apk from /system/app (search for posts on how to remove system apps) provided that you've rooted your device.
This is all?
But is the system app *sync.apk only for google sync?
Or can i even sync with mypohone explorer any more?
Yes.
Yes.
Solution?
Hello,
I had the same problem and i found out that Jorte ( found on android market ) did do the thrick for me. It is pretty standalone. Notice that of you want notifications ( sounds etc ) in Jorte that you need to configure that in the original agenda of defy.
Hope this is your solution, regardings Rick
It IS possible
Hi,
I have CM7 installed, at first without GoogleApps. Then it is not possible to use the native calendar program. But, if flash gapps, bot NOT login or create a new account, the calendar app works fine, though.
LK
Hi, how have you installed CM7 on Defy?
I found out another trick on my SE LWW. After installing CM9.1 with GApps i replaced the Calendar.apk with native SemcCalendar.apf from official Firmware, but FC. After replacing google's Calendar.apk back i was able to use in normally.
Please ask all questions in the Q&A section. Thread moved there.

[Q] Sideloading?

Ok, I am starting to get frustrated now with my Fire. Got a Kindle Fire for Christmas and have been loading apps from the amazon market. Those work well. I have not rooted this Fire. I want to be able to use several apps like Google Talk, a calendar, Swift Key, and a few more. I cannot download google talk, so am trying to use it from the web. I can send text messages from the Fire using GTalk, but do not receive any back on the Kindle. My google calendar will not sync with any type calendar, I use Jorte, or just my google desktop calendar on my phone. Seems some apps I can sideload and others just don't work. What am I doing wrong here?

I think in order to use any google services the GoogleFramwork has to be installed. This posted: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889 I believe is for a utility that can root (require to install googleframework), install google frameowrk and market, and even instal TWRP so you can flash custom roms and so on....

[Q] Gmail and Market stopped working

Well, I've rooted my NSTGL somewhere a month ago, installed all the apps I need and since then I rarely used wifi, turning it on for a shop sinchronisation only. But today I discovered that my youtube, market and gmail apps don't work, but browser does. Last messages in gmail is from 2nd october. In other device's threads there are suggestions to re-login in google account, but I don't see any way to do it. So, do I need to re-root my nook or there are some other solutions?
Have you tried Synker to get the googls apps syncing again?

It seems pretty hard to install this app without an .apk which I was unsuccessfully googling for the last half an hour.
Here is the synker widget - the developer is afterhoursdevelopers
you should be able to save this to your nook sdcard and then click on it from your nook to install.

Rooted NST Market and some other problems

Hey guys I have a Nook Simple touch, I root my nook with touchnooter-2-1-31 via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1343143, I signed in youtube then sync gmail, gmail is working but market and opera doesnt work also amazon apps works well but I cant download any app, please someone help me.

Oreo callendar question.

Hello,
I would like to ask - how to disable build in calendar ? It's so annoying when I get 2 notifications (one from Google calendar and one from build in). In application settings you can't disable it totally even you can't disable notifications. When you disable account sync in build in it automatically turns off sync in Google calendar.
Anyone advice ?
PS. Stock Oreo, no root, no unlocked.
I turned off all the oreo stock calendar permissions and use google calendar instead. Works ok, no extra notifications so far. Could probably remove the calendar app with ADB if necessary. I did that with a bunch of stock apps in Nougat.
A better way would be to root the phone and delete/freeze it with Titanium Backup. But I'm a root kind of guy so that's just me. I cant imagine having an unrooted phone.

Some of us want a secure device for work use
I have mine on dual sims and run microsoft intune portal for work mode. No root for my A7, also use it for Google Pay and online banking.
If I just used it to call my buddies and watch porn them I'd probably look at rooting it
