Canadian sm-g920w8 firmware available for download. - Galaxy S6 General

Sammobile just added Telus and bell sm-g920w8 firmware on their site. Anyone know if this is good to go for Rogers or Fido S6?

Edit: You can get the firmware directly from samsung using Smart Switch

In the menu on the top right side there is an option for emergency recovery.

Does anyone notice that they have an older version of Bell's firmware than what ships with their S6? They posted OCC and mine shipped with OCG.

yea mine shows OCG as well.. this is confusing.
I am not sure which one I need to install OCC? or OCG?
Is OCC is older version of OCG?

Guys they show the build dates of the firmware, that with knowing your ABC's suggests OCG is newer

You can actually use the Telus firmware. It's identical.

Wouldn't it be problem if the device is locked or unlocked?
Sorry for a dump question.

The software is the same among all carriers, the bloat only gets installed upon first boot!
You can navigate to the CSC folder and see a folder for all the Canadian carriers in there!

That didn't work for me. I went into the Emergency Software Recovery and Initialization menu. I can't do an emergency software recovery as I don't have a recovery code - my device didn't fail a software update. And when I do a device initialization, it is offering me the same software version.
I have a Fido/Rogers GS6 running 5.1.1.
How did you make it work for you?

Im Currently trying to flash my SG6 with 6.0.1 for Bell.

At&t and Rogers is not the same. Their phones have locked bootloaders. T-Mobile is the closest to the Canadian phones.

Do you know if you're on mdl firmware if you are it'll work. If you were on mf5 it won't work, but it also won't hurt anything. The file is a zip file. Use 7-zip to extract the .tar.md5 file from it. That's the file you'll use in Odin.

Have you taken any ota updates? Where you flashing any custom roms and have a custom recovery on your phone? As I said, mdl won't hurt it just won't work. I'd try that first as mf5 has additional security which makes it more difficult to flash custom roms.
yeah i flashed a few custom roms, i tried changing the build.prop earlier this AM to help fix the no sim notificiation then it wouldnt allow me to make calls saying i must first dial the 10 digit number etc...so i edited build.prop and ****ed up my calling. so now i gotta start from stock, re flash and everything else

When you get it back up and running make a nandroid backup in your custom recovery. That way if you f up you can easily restore it and not go back thru flashing back to stock.

[Q] Flashing i9505 ROM over Canadian S4 using ODIN

Hi,
I have been away from Android for some time now. So, bear me, please.
I am having an issue with a Canadian (SGH-I337M) S4 because it is not operating on my Middle-East LTE (1800 MHz) network.
In theory, the hardware of my phone and the i9505 is the same. And I checked the specs of my phone and it supports the frequency but yet it is not connecting.
Is it possible to flash a i9505 ROM through ODIN over my phone? or will it be bricked?
Thanks

Thanks for the notion. It was my original question that: is this possible?
Has anyone flashed a non-I337M firmware on an I337M phone?
The hardware specs of i9505 and I337M are the same.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2295557
From above, you can flash a custom rom from certain other variants of the s4 via CWM, but not the official one like you tried to flash by odin.

Thanks for the reply. Actually what I need is a Stock ROM of i9505 over I337M, because of my LTE frequencies issue.
However, after a few trials, it does not seem to be possible.

[Q] How to root after the latest update ?

Hi all,
I've just updated my Note3 SM-N9005 via kies to Build number N9005XXUDMK2 and now I can't flash root, It fails every time...
My version is N9005XXUDMJ7 and my build number is N9005XXUDMK2.
I don't know if it has something to do with it, but when I enter download node I see a gray line saying: "Write protection: Enabled".
Can anyone please tell me how can I gain root access again ?
I'm tring to flash this file: "CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.tar.md5" with "Odin3 v3.09.exe"
which I found in this site: http://true-android.blogspot.co.il/2013/12/root-n9005xxudmk2-galaxy-note-3-sm.html

Yes I am.
But in odin 3.9 there is AP and not PDA.
But I tried both in both odin versions: 3.7 and 3.9.
In odin 3.7 I am using PDA, and in odin 3.9 I am using AP.
Hmm I am stumped I'm afraid. Usually re-flashing it normally works. See if anyone else will chime in and know the answer.

When it rolls out it may be a different version of KK than is currently compatible with CR Root. Better waiting til it comes out then seeing what is available.
**[Side Note... If you want KK now you can flash the Official XEO version depending on your Model (IF Hong Kong then it won't work) - and you can root on that without issue after flashing, but you cannot go bac to 4.3 again]**
hmmm

When it rolls out it may be a different version of KK than is currently compatible with CR Root. Better waiting til it comes out then seeing what is available.
**[Side Note... If you want KK now you can flash the Official XEO version depending on your Model (IF Hong Kong then it won't work) - and you can root on that without issue after flashing, but you cannot go bac to 4.3 again]**

Simple - wrong firmware for your device.
Twrp, nothing happens? - you need to give details.

it is 100% the correct firmware i downloaded it on samstock for EE (EVR) stock 6.0.1 and 5.1.1 both wont install via odin and samsung tools pro. ive flashed twrp following your guide and that worked but installing super su just gave me the app and no binary files were installed, cf auto root just boot loops me the only tike im able to install any firmware is through emergency recovery on smart switch

If part of the firmware doesn't install then it is not the correct firmware for your particular device, simple.
The bootloader does a sanity check via Odin on any firmware attempted to be installed.
If it doesn't meet the requirements it fails to install.
It's pointless arguing the case because it's a fact and I've been down this road with others who have eventually got the correct firmware of which you've almost proved my point by stating that downloading through Smartswitch installs the correct firmware.
Several factors come into play, model, carrier, region and revision.
Any of these mismatch and installation could potentially fail. Simply being the right model no. isn't enough.
You could probably help yourself if you post more details:
Exact firmware your device is currently running, the firmware you are attempting to install and screenshots or post a log of the output from odin and the info provided on the device display itself after failure.
I got the device on contract with EE so i thought it was locked to EE, my partner bought me a S7 (flat) on vodafone so i put the voda sim into my A510F n it seems to be unlocked to voda not quite sure why i always thought they was locked to the network if it was a contract device, could it possibly be a vodafone stock rom or any other network.
