I replaced the LCD on this S5 recently and now a watermark is showing on the top and bottom. I'm guessing it's just an illegitimate part, but I thought it was worth asking if this could be software related?
Any input is appreciated obviously! Thanks.
Looks like something is burned on to your screen, google ways to fix that and see if it helps.

You have not brand new phone!!!!
It is some sort of demo unit in store. It was turned on for nobody knows how long time.
You should go to your seller and replace phone on brand new.
Your LCD is damaged.
Contact seller as seems that the screen you have been given has been powered on before on a particular screen.
What the guys said, but... the S5 hasn't got a LCD screen. It's AMOLED, which is way better

Hello, everybody!
I recently replaced my Nexus 7's screen and digitizer and now my screen looks really bad.
Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to fix it?
I've tried taking everything apart, twice, to see if maybe I hooked a wire wrong or something but I get the same results.

this is what's put me off getting one from ebay, mines only a week old and cracked due to not that much thumb pressure debating cutting my losses and throwing it in the bin if this is how weak the screens are
You should really change that. There is no way that is a software issue
Hello!
I bought the Galaxy S4 about two months ago and since then, I always used it with a screen protector and a case. But today, I found that many purple and black spots and smears have formed on the AMOLED. I have never dropped the phone or exposed it to heat. I tried rebooting and activated the LCD test mode, but none of them helped. Is it a hardware issue?
Can anybody tell me what's going on and help me?
Best regards,

Definitely hardware. Looks like the AMOLED itself. If you have warranty, I suggest you use it, because that's hardware, not software.
Hm, thanks for the help, although that certainly isn't good news... I will try to contact Amazon, let's hope they can help me with this problem.
As there is a large concentration of purple in the corner, I'd suggest that Samsung will try and tell you its been dropped and in that case, I don't think they will cover it under warranty.
I wish you luck!

Thank you! Now the purple stains have spread all over the screen, making it very hard to read anything on the screen. This seems to be a very odd issue if you ask me...

Odd indeed ... usually when a screen is damaged or faulty bars appear pixel burned altered colors and stuff ... if i saw that and didn't know i d tell u that u definetely someone spilled ink on the screen ... those marks are exactly like it ... hopefully they ll repair it ...
I think samsung should change it under warranty because clearly, screen is not broken and still degraded. So it's bad display.
But they might say it's caused by water damage which is not covered under warranty.
Let's hope for the best.
They do have a way to tell if it's water damage, there is a sticker which turns blue when wet, so if there is no damage to the case, they should change it fine... I have had good luck with Amazon regarding returning faulty items...

Thank you guys for all the support, I sent it back to Amazon and today I got the mail that they have got the package. Now someone's going to look if this is covered by standard warranty... Let's hope for the best indeed!
Hope they change it for you. As for sure seems the amoled has burned

Wow thats terrible, i hope samsung sort it out for you!
I am curious what happened? I woke up this morning and I had black and purple all over my screen to. It was fine when I went to bed. The last two apps I used were Pandora and Xtreme alarm clock if that matters

but what causes it....i work with lcds all day and have just come across this issue
So I dropped my phone over the weekend and only half of the screen is working. I took it into a local repair guy who comes highly recommended and has excellent reviews.
He tried replacing the entire screen component with two different replacements and there was white banding/lines down the screen both times. He thinks his replacement parts were defective and that the issue has nothing to do with the phone, as there are no white lines with the stock cracked screen.
I'm rooted on cloudy stock and wondering if that has anything at all to do with those lines? For some reason i feel like I remember hearing about this issue on the occasional custom ROM.
Hes getting more in tomorrow and will try again and let me know.
Does anyone have any idea?
Thanks.

The digitizer might be broken. If that's the case, you're better off getting a replacement as digitizers can cost about $300-$500.

The digitizer and LCD assembly is around $100 on eBay...not $300.

Oh wow, it dropped significantly since the last time I checked. Regardless, that could be part of the issue. She you say you replaced the whole screen component, are you talking about the digitizer as well?
Hello, thanks for reading, i bought a refurbished D800 and when i touch the screen i get like some blueish pixels, if i softly touch it no weird stuff appears on the screen. Is it the digitalizer or the LCD panel? does anybody know?, the pictures are attached. Thanks for reading!
Edit: exact same thing happening to this guy (check the video), even tho mine is much more subtle on the spots: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/help/screen-weird-spots-problem-t2907316
My brother had the exact same problem with his D802 and in his case it was the battery which was getting bigger and bitter since it was defect. After replacing the battery, the problem was gone.
Since you bought a refubished phone, I think it could also be a wrong digitizer or LCD which got assemled.

Now that you say about the battery getting bigger and bigger, i noticed that the glass isnt where it should be, its pushed up, if i leave the screen on in complete darkness i can see the backlight filtering trough the cellphone's borders. Im gonna take it to a local shop to see whats wrong with it. Thanks for replying!!

Hello,
So I have just bought a brand new Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 and noticed that two edges of the screen show a white line when I tilt my tablet a little upwards/downwards. It goes bright when the screen brightness is set to 100%. Although everything looks perfect when holding the tablet in a normal position.
Is it normal? I have attached the pictures as well.
Best Regards,
No man, that is not normal.. I have the same piece of crap device and it hasn't anything like that.. You better go and return it, use the warranty...
i dont have either those white lines, your screen must be broken, if you didnt break it then use warrantly to get it fixed or changed to Other tab 4 7.0.

Hi,
It's a brand new tablet so I believe screen isn't broken. Bought it yesterday. I guess I will have to get it exchanged then just to be on the safe side. Does your tablet look good when you tilt it upwards/backwards?

Its a common problem. Its some sort of bleeding or what ever you call it. The screen isnt broken, i think Its "defective" simpky because when you tilt your tablet that way, Its not supposed to be white like that. Its supposed to be the same color as when you look at it directly. If I recall a few nexus tablets had a similar problem.

Just got my tablet replaced with a new one and the white line/leakage is still there but very minimal -- much better than the previous one. I guess I will have to live with it now.
