Sold S6 going Back M9 - One (M9) General

Hi,
When very first batch of M9's came Turkey i bought it straight away. because of bad display i sold it straight away too same price. After all the hype i decided to buy Galaxy S6 which i had yesterday after 24 hours yes display is fantastic, camera awesome but there was something missing feels soulless, i cant describe spite having better camera, faster processor, or display i feels too much copy İphone and Xperia its not unique product it feels like they stole ideas from other manufacturer. Where M9 Shines spite HTC logo on bottom, worst camera, being hot it feels uniuqe, elegant Sense is plessure rahter touchwiz like cartoon with freshly stolen paralax wallpaper from İOS. Yes S6 have great hardware thats where it ends.

I get what you mean dude, as good as the hardware might be on the S6 it lacks that character, that vibe that you get with the One M9 or M8 or even M7.
I think that when Samsung is a cross between the iPhone & Xperia then it looses the originality factor.
HTC has got soul a warm vibe that even with some negatives its a great great device
Welcome Back

I am kind of in the same boat. I went to get the LG G3 last week. Right now i miss my m8 badly, being i gave it to my son I can not take it back. Im going to return the lg tomorrow and get the M9. LG just feels so awkward compared to HTC,not to mention it lags at times and it drives me nuts.

~ no rest for the wiCKed ~

I've owned almost every HTC device from AT&T when I upgraded to the HTC Aria. I've had the One X, One m7, One M8. I always enjoyed their build quality and with Sense experience its the best android experience from my view. The front boomsound speakers and its screen size/body ratio is great. I sold my m8 and can't decide if I want a M9 or something else. I will probably wait it out until next year flagship. Also rooting HTC phones is much easier and lots of customization.

[Poll and Discussion] HTC One M8 or Galaxy S5?

Which of the two do you prefer and why? I'd like to hear especially from those who have used both phones. I've used the M8 and was quite impressed, but haven't used the S5 yet.

M8 hands down. Yes I have used both. If you really care so much about the camera, buy a digital camera. Yes the S5 has a far better camera. If that isn't of concern m8 is the clear winner in my opinion. The galaxy phones feel like they are made by playskool. You just can't beat the premium feel of an HTC device. Not on the feel but just overall quality & craftsmanship. It's such an easy pick for me. Sure there are some things I would have changed but last years m7 & the m8 are amazing.

Yeah I agree about the camera. Nice to hear from someone who's used both and can see through the camera.
Sammy for me.
Better specs, better camera, removable battery, water-resistance. If I were choosing phones based on looks, I'd be posting on MacRumors right now.

The main thing luring me to the M8 is the superior UI, and ART. Also, if the S5 doesn't ship with ART compatibility I won't even consider it (display models don't have the option). M8 also survived an hour underwater in some video I watched. On specs, I find the small difference negligible.

Thanks! I guess they disabled it on display models. Now I may give some consideration to the S5
I was hoping Samsung made a premium build phone as some of the innovative software is good but unfortunately they went with same old cheap band aid look plastic finish. Terrible but love their marketing almost convinces you to buy the damn thing even though it's plastic.
Camera is the only thing which I prefer the s5 over m8. Every other dept it's m8 looks feel and Looks again. Design finish and sense love it.
I hear ya. Unfortunately, there aren't any S5 displays in my area so I can't give them a good comparison. I've heard people say it's WAY better than they expected though.
S5, no question about it. I'm not going to pick a device simply because it's made out of metal. That's a bonus, sure...but when it's completely lacking in every other aspect, the metal body doesn't make up for it.
Well if you plan on flashing a ROM, the build is about all that matters (and camera). I still thing Sense 6 is ahead of TouchWiz though.

If i used the phone without protection i would agree with you but since I usually just buy a ballistic case or something to protect against falls (I drop it quite often, otherwise I wouldn't buy a case) I would get the plastic finish feel anyways. S5 for me

Ok so I went to a local AT&T store and used the M8 and S5 one in each hand for about 20 minutes tonight, and this is what I noticed (in a pros-cons list of each). Note I am 6'3" with pretty large hands. I didn't test the cameras, as 1. I don't use smartphone cameras and 2. We all know the S5's is way better. This is more subjective stuff with build, feel, and UI.
S5 Advantages:
-SCREEN!! The AMOLED screen on the S5 was absolutely gorgeous. I put the setting on "professional photography" or something like that, and everything looked absolutely superb. The M8's screen was also nice, but I liked the color on the AMOLED display much better (especially the whites).
-The lock button on the right side was very natural and comfortable to press. Much more so than on the M8.
-White model felt nice in the hand (not an advantage, but notable)
-Haptic feedback. This is probably adjustable, but the S5's was shorter and not as "deep". The M8 shook a little much for me.
M8 Advantages:
-Length and on screen buttons. With the S5, I found myself having to reach my thumb down a little too far to reach the buttons. On the M8, the buttons were in a perfect spot and were very pleasant to use.
-Motion gestures. It was very nice and natural to unlock the phone by swiping up when the screen was off.
(I put this post in a couple of threads because it is relevant).

Not really -- The S5 has better specs in just about every single category compared to the M8.
-Weighs less
-Faster CPU
-Bigger/better display
-Better camera
-IP67 cert (Water/dust resistant)
-Better battery, which is also removable
-USB 3.0
The only thing that I feel the M8 has over the S5 is the metal body. Aside from that, I don't see the reason to pick a clearly inferior device. Of course, both are great devices, regardless. However, when compared, why would you go with the inferior device, especially if you planned to upgrade anyway?
Either way, to each their own. Everyone has different preferences
Everyone who is dissing on Samsung for the plastic really needs to try it out in person. I used to have an M7, so I know how amazing that and the M8 feel. But the S5 is nothing like the S3 or S4. It feels more like my Moto X than anything, minus the rubberized coating on the X. Very solid.

The CPU speed difference is so small it's most likely irrelevant in day to day use. Sense is less intensive, so they'll most likely run the same in day to day usage. Besides, I didn't notice a difference when I tried them. The other things are nice hardware bonuses, but the software and feel are more important to me. This is where I think HTC edges out Samsung (oh, and BoomSound). That, and I have no need for a better camera, IP67 (never get my phones wet/dusty), and USB 3.0 (I rarely hook up to the PC and if so only for flashing). So for my personal tastes, this leaves Samsung's hardware advantages at the battery (the M8's is also pretty killer though), screen, and weight. The M8's overall feel is just a little bit better for me. Not having to stretch so far for the buttons is big, and a skinnier body makes 1 handed use easier. To each their own, but for me the One just edges out the S5 (for now). There's still 4 days before my M8 ships, so I very well could change to the S5, but this is where I'm at right now.

Exactly my sentiments. Despite the camera, I am still VERY satisfied with this phone. Just pure awesomeness. It is a league classier than the iPhone and the M8. The only direct competitors in the design dept.

I don't mean to speak out of turn but your experience will be relative to what device and camera quality you are accustomed to. If you compare with the likes of the HTC One m7 m8, the OG Moto X or the nexus 4 then you will find the Z3 a big improvement. However, if you are coming from a Galaxy s4/5 or an iPhone 5s/6, then it will be only 'comparable'. Comparable because 1. Sony shines, excuse the pun in the low light area of photography 2. It has better slow motion control in video compared to the others and does give you that 20mp sensor with hardware two stage shutter button 3. I found the digital image stabilization to be better than Apple's OIS (see Btekt youtube vs video). But it is underwhelming when compared to the competition when it comes to zoomed in detail, capture speed and motion blur reduction in still photos. I hope that helps.
I do think this can be addressed with some firmware updates from Sony. They have sent FW updates to the Z2 in the past and made improvements to the camera this way.
For me this is the second best phone I have ever had. Topped by htc one m8. I like the screen more on this one but everything else goes to htc. Even the camera.
Sony should do something with the software.

I respect your view sir. It is strange that almost every independent review has rated the m8 as the worst performing camera. Mainly due to the low amount of detail. If what you say is true, then the Z3 would be a new low. LOL. Peace.
Best multimedia device to me. Not the the best at any one thing, but well rounded and good at everything. Give me a good swiss army knife any day over the sharpest kitchen blade! Thats the z3!
Coolest and geekiest (in a good) way device. N900. That thing was like minipc with ancient specs that they just decided to slap phone app to! Lol. Damn i miss that thing!
Best phone ever purely on phone aspect.... N95-8gig baby what else! Lol!
A lot of biasoty in this post of course! Lol!

Whatever makes you happy and fits your needs! But the M8 will never take pics like these in the link below. Plus if you wanted to crop one to get a close up of one of the animals. The 4 MP in the M8 really falls apart.

i came from an M8 to the z3. i think everything about the Z3 (in terms of what it has to offer) is better then the M8 maybe except the design of the phone. am really liking the Sony UI as well as the intense battery saving functions. This is the first phone so far for me that I can leave it unrooted with everything on (location, google services) and not have to worry about the battery dying mid day.

What makes this phone fall apart is the inconsistency of the pictures. Sometimes you get a nice result but more often you end up disappointed. M8 on the other hand while not the best camera is quite consistent, you know what you will get. You won't get zoomamble images but on phone screen gorgeous.
When I used it a lot of people said that wow this phone takes nice pictures.
But yup, still on Sony. It's growing on me.

Mostly software. Call me crazy but I like sense.
But also I notice that Sony is not as comfortable to hold. They did round the edges so it's better than z2 but still m8 feels quite nice with the curved back.
But let's see, now when it's time to apart from Sony I am getting hesitant

lol I'm completely the opposite. I would always get my finger in the M8 lens. so far I havent gotten my finger in the Z3 lense yet
some people are putting way too much emphasis on the camera. Realize one thing people, you use a phone to take pictures for social media, you are not going to use it for your professional work, so for something like an HTC one M8 it should be more than enough. Also, Megapixel isn't everything, the Iphone 6 takes amazing pictures having only have 8 MP.
I came from the HTC One (M8) to the Z3 about 2 weeks ago.
Overall, I am pleased with the switch for several reasons:
- battery life of the Z3. Even though the M8 has great battery life, nothing on the market comes close to the Z3 right now. Unbelievable battery autonomy.
- bezels. Both devices are the same size, yet the Z3 has a bigger display. The M8's bezels were too big for my taste.
- build quality. My M8 has a loose volume rocker and the camera was scratched beyond recognition. I had to apply toothpaste to get rid of the scratches and it made my camera very sensitive to light and basically ruined the already awful camera.
Things I miss about the M8:
- the metal finish. Boy that was nice to feel! The Z3 has the metal bezels, but the back of the M8 was just lovely.
- the "grip" of the phone. The rounded back of the M8 made it easy to hold and handle. the Z3, while better than Z1/Z2, is still a bit too squarish to my taste.
Both fantastic devices, can't go wrong with either. The Z3 just has that extra 'oomph'.
EDIT: of course, I also miss the development options of the M8. Once you S-OFF the M8 you're basically free to do whatever you want. on the other hand I don't even have root on the Z3 still, unless I want to unlock the bootloader and actually lose some features.
If Sony chose to use capacitave buttons rather than functionally have a 4.7" display for a lot of apps due to the navigation bar, I might agree. That is a LOT bezel that could be used and tear down supports there was space for it.
I curse Android and their space hogging capacitave button loving ways. At least Samsung gets it (FWIW) and LG at least made an effort to mitigate the nav bar with immersive mode on the G2/G3.

HTC One M9 now officially revealed - initial thoughts

Thank you HTC! We have had a hell of a trip! 2 years in a row M7 and M8! Great memories from this daily driver champs... But sadly this is where we part ways. You guys have just placed a deep dagger into your hearts and this will sadly be the downfall of something that could have been great. I refuse to buy something that looks the same to last years phone... Why follow something that apple does. Not cool I expected so much more than the latest specs and a poor camera. I wanted a great design not an "improved design" if you can even say that.
Well nonetheless Thank You for the past 2 years. Hope you guys make a comeback with the M10, and win the hearts of the fans you just did wrong.

It's your problem if you haven't get them change your camera. I made them give me a new one for faulty camera after almost a year.
I have to admit I was expecting more. I've tried to stay away from the "leaks" as they only fill you with hope about something that might not actually be real. So when I just logged on to the net to see what the new HTC One phone looks like, I see a picture of the One M8... Huh, how can this be???
But wait, it turns around... and it has a different camera!
Huh!
So in effect what HTC has done is:
1. Taken an M8, got rid of the Duo camera and stuck on a 20mp camera.
2. Got rid of the "unibody" design by having the outer edges of the M9 be a different colour / material(?) (also making it thicker in the process). (edit - so it's still a unibody, but the outer edge can be a different colour than the back of the phone?).
3. Given it 3gb of RAM and an Octa-core processor (because the M8 was so slow and laggy!).
4. Slap Dolby into it (which you can do on the M8 with project Era).
5. Update the UI to Sense 7.
So... If you can wait until Sense 7 comes out for the M8 and don't mind (or use much) the current Duo camera setup, what's the point in upgrading? The M8 is fast as f### anyway so the extra RAM is not really gonna give much of a point of difference.
Honestly, I was looking forward to upgrading to the M9 as soon as it came out, but in reality I see nothing here that would make me give up my M8. After my HTC love affair over the past few years (Desire, HOX, One M8), I guess I'll be looking to see what the other phone manufacturers have got to offer when I next upgrade. Sorry HTC.

Exact same phone cycle as you. I have no desire to leave at all, I hate touchwiz. About time they ditched low resolution camera (ultra pixel or not, it sucked) I do wish it had higher resolution screen but 1080P is still awesome and it's gonna take at least another year anyway for apps to have the native support for the higher resolution screens but I guess we could still get the plus.
So what happened to the M9 Plus?
I'm not hearing much about the rumored 5.2" M9 Plus that had the better specks and camera duo still too? What did they do with that? Was that a fake all along?!

Yeah im thinking it was a rumor.
I am so disappointed in the M9....so we have the same screen, no fingerprint scanner, they say the camera is meh (pre production software...but I think that is BS...why would they risk poor pictures at launch..so so stuipd in my mind)Still a great phone but it did not really push the envelop at all.....sad....

That and the other design are for the Asian market only and are going to be announced at an Asian HTC event
you may did it right, htc...
Hey Guys,
I'm utterly pleased with my m7 /cm12/. I must also tell you that I did not like the "design upgrade" of the m8 back in 2014. If my recent daily must stay for an additional year, still no complaints formed. If the battery would give up in the middle of this year, I'd be still content. There will have been 2,5 years great service behind it.
However if that shall occur would be just right in time, since my next big releasing event will come: one+ two, may the mistake of htc enlarge you!
Great day!
M9 plus will be later in the year for Chinese markets only according to up leaks

To be honest,
for people, who just started using HTC from M8, an upgrade to M9 is somehow acceptable.
But for people like me, who has been using HTC from TyTN, Evo, One X... especially the last 2 flagships M7 and M8, we are expecting for something BETTER.
Not the god damn black bar again....seriously HTC?
and you know what, S6 Edge maybe my next device, although I'm pretty sure even the current specs of HTC M8 could be handle most of the epic apps and games for the next 2 years.
I hold my m8 in my pocket. A big mistake from HTC devestated all of my dreams.
There are a lot of "why" that I cant find those answers.
I wont ignore improvements of m9 but its not what I expected at least for its design.
Square camera!!
About 1cm longer device just for HTC!!!
No capacitive buttons like m7!!
No dual camera!!! "I love it"
Thicker than m8!!!
No UltraPixel main camera!!!
I think no flagship worth it this year.
Even samsung that is a combined design of Iphone and Sony like a Soap in the bathroom.
It was better if HTC used a design of those renders which shown on the youtube that some of them were really beautiful.
Anyway all of these, are related to our desires.

A huge letdown. From phone design, to hardware and software. Extremely average, and boring. HTC just doesn't have what it takes to "wow" anyone anymore.

Why I picked the S6 over the M9

Let me start out by saying, I wanted the M9 to be the phone I wanted it to be, sooo bad. I have had a M7 Dev Edition since launch day, used it primarily on AT&T. I have now switch to T-Mobile and the M7 does not have all of the required bands to be fully compatible, so it was time to upgrade for me.
I bought the M9 early, directly from HTC and got the dev edition. It has full support for T-Mobiles bands and has the upgrades I have been needing ( Faster, microsd NO BLOAT ).
I still could not help read all the hype over the S6, so I bought one of those as well, just a regular S6, IDK why, but I was not a fan of the edge look.
I have both now for weeks as T-Mobile was selling them ahead of everyone else.
From testing both as daily drivers I have concluded the S6 is the best route for me, the software combined with Samsung's own processor is flawless, nearly 0 lag, even with the bloat I found myself liking the S6 more and more.
What it came down to in the end was a few things;
1. Signal - There would be places as I was driving I would have LTE on the S6, and the M9 would only get Edge. Not even H+. It seems to me like the antenna on the S6 is better, so many places the S6 would get signal where the M9 wouldn't. Places as I was driving, where the M9 had an "X" ( No Signal ), the S6 showed 2 bars of H+.
2. Camera - Yes the camera CAN produce good pictures, but you have to be standing still and have the the steadiest of hands, I went to a concert and zoomed all the way in with the M9 and I could see the screen shaking from my hand shaking, due to its lacks of OIS. Tried the same thing on the S6 and it was steady as could be, no shaking, perfect picture. I have a big enough hand I use both phones with one hand, if you are a person who uses both hands, maybe pictures won't be that bad for you.
3. Wireless charging - No more ports breaking, lol. With how cheap the technology is, I don't use the wall charger ever. I found a few QI chargers at Radio Shack when they were going out of business for 5 bucks a peice. Get to work, place it on the pad and don't worry about it.
Trust me, I kept trying to talk myself out of the S6 for my sheer love of HTC and the design and feel, but overall daily use the S6 outshines it. I hope next year they bring their game back, as I heard right after the M9 launched they re-organized a bunch of staff.
What I will miss, the front facing speakers, Samsung should know how much sound is when speakers are facing you, but none the less, tis one feature I will miss on the M9
This is just my opinion, and the decision was not easy, but day to day the S6 won me over.

I tend to agree with you. Even if you take away their respective cameras the S6 just brings so much more to the table. That combined with the fact that Samsung has managed to make the S6 so fast performance wise means that it could be a long year for HTC.
I have a S6 edge sitting right next to me. I used it for a week and it deserves high praise. Samsung really hit it out the park.
I had to have a M9 for some reason. I had the M7&8 and wanted the 9 even if it was a miniscule upgrade.
So far I'm trying to find reasons to like the HTC more because I will only keep one.
I'm liking the Sense UI, body and build, and that's about it so far. The battery feels worse and the camera sucks. I hope these can be fixed through updates.

TLDR
If it is a question...then...
Must be your first htc.
Things get better few months later with otas.
I still don't understand why sammy doesn't invest on design. Then the software itself twz is too boring.
But well, just my opinion.
I don't even bother of saying to people what to buy or what is the best, unless i got a nice payment for it
I forgot, sammy focus their marketing for Women and kids, i m none of them

Yes, I agree touch wiz is very ugly. Sense is the premium Launcher. All guy's want it. That's the reason to change to htc to.

Have both of them using as daily drivers, and using them about over a week. so I have somme opinions
From now on m9=htc one m9, and the s6e=s6 edge
M9 over S6E
1- Playing games on htc is much more fun than the s6e
2- Listening music is better
3- speaker quality is better (two front facing speakers, you can hear detailed sounds even in candy crush)
4- Battery life on m9 is better than s6
5- Easier to use with one hand
6- Blinkfeed
7- Sd card support
S6E Over M9
1- Screen quality is way better (amoled vs ips)
2- Camera quality (unmatched on the market )
3- Wireless Charging
4- Fingerprint Scanner
5- Build quality ( for me glass is better choice)
6- Fast charging
As you can see guys these list are primary for me and i am happy with my devices. Both devices are wonderful and easy to use. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.
The only disappointment is M9's camera. Although its 20.7 mp, it shoots crappy photos and i don't understand why htc still using toshiba sensor.
These are my opinions and i am not writing this to slander any of them. These devices rocks!!!
Thank you.
I too, like the OP, wanted m9 to be good. Bought it a few weeks ago even with no local warranty (m9 not released officially yet here in Indonesia).
Played around with it for 1 week, before I concede and bought the regular s6.
I hate touchwiz. Still do. But that's about all I have to endure. The rest are just sublime.
Edit:forgetting the lack of external sdcard option on s6.worked around it by turning on flickr auto upload (I don't have huge apps or games on my phone)
I chose m9 at first because it's full HD not QHD, thinking i'd rather have a good battery-life than a feature i can't really enjoy. Seriously I cant really see the difference between QHD and FHD screen at 5-5.2" screen. By staying with FHD screen I was expecting at the very least m8-level 6-7hr SOT battery life. However I was wrong. My M9 never surpass the 5hr mark SOT whatever I did (without crippling its smartphone features too badly). My s6 can get 6 hours SOT with wifi, and around 4.5-5 hours on mixed wifi and patchy LTE signal.
Loved the high resolution m9 camera in daylight, but sadly i rarely use my camera at daytime. Most of my usage are from 6pm onwards (which is why i loved my UP m8 so much). Again, s6 caters my night time photography need.
This is not a post bashing m9. I'm a fan of HTC really. Just whoring myself temporarily to the friendly Korean neighbor, hoping somehow the issues m9 have would be ironed out in the near future through great software updates. If so, i'll be gladly sell my s6 and keep an eye for a used m9.
The S6 is better in almost every way except the speaker of course, and this year build quality is a toss up.
If SG6 is so cool.. Why im having tonz of pm to port Sense 7 over it
I have a S5 and a Z3C. S6 was never an option for me, it takes too many features away, but I 'm not arguing it may be the best phone of the year. I also wanted something new and had never tried HTC. So I went with the M9 and I love it so far, it's like this phone has a soul. I knew that I would get an imperfect phone when I bought it (cheap, got an offer) so I 'm not disappointed.

Question is, why didn't people just buy the m9 if they like sense 7 so much
Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk
Again my first original post was just an opinion, this was not my first HTC, I have had the M7 Dev Edition since launch day. Simple day to day uses, functions etc made me pick the S6.
Like I said in my original post, I tried to find any reason for me to keep the M9, I like sense over touchwiz but even with updates, you can't make a camera function like it has OIS when it doesn't, not to say it won't improve..
Lack of sd card is minimal for me, I have an unlimited data plan, upload photos/videos to the cloud and you don't have to worry about space.

LOL just look at the past bro and i can tell you can if samsung releases a mini then it will have midrage specs at best so it doesn;t come close to Z5c.
The article is total wrong.....
Samsung will introduce this smartphone as a response to Apple's upcoming 4-inch iPhone SE, which will be unveiled on March 21. <-- 4.6" isn't response to SE but the 4.7" IP6s.
And it will allegedly be the first Samsung Mini to come with high-end specs. <-- This isn't the first but second. Galaxy Alpha is the first mini flagship.
Personally, I real dislike the color reproduction of Samsung so probably will wait next Sony Compact even the S7 mini is a true story.

It isn't entirely impossible however. Galaxy Alpha was released in the same time frame with Z3c. Alpha got 4.7" 720P, Note4 CPU, 2GB ram, S5 Camera, metal bumper design and switchable battery.

Well considering the z compact series is much smaller than the 4.7 iPhone, it very well could be a direct competition to the SE if it's around the same size. The point is the overall form factor and has nothing to do with actual screen size. iPhones bezels are obnoxious so the 4.7 is actually regular s7 league .
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'd be all for it if it wasn't fake! Samsung keeping flagship specs in a compact chassis is as likely as Trump becoming president.
Samsungs designs are easier to hold in hand and is about half the weight and always have great dev support to have aosp. A win in every regard! Hopefully they knock down bezel size. The alpha was too large of a phone to really be a compact. I've been on the lookout for a s5 mini g800m for a while, I would grab one of these in a heartbeat as long as they keep size down, I hate my z5c.
I think it will definitely happen. Samsung has to compete with the SE.
Btw Trump will be president.
I don't know if there's any OEMs that can provide an Android compact flagship the same good as Sony can do .Just take a look at HTC one mini 1st and 2nd generation(some may even never heard about them), they cannot even be able to afford the flagship position.
And Samsung? I am looking forward to any S minis. It's always good to have an alternative option anyway..

I agree bro. Also I don't get all the fuzz about s7... I went into a store to see it live. I believe Xperia X performance looks way better even though I didn't had the chance to see the X live. I think it's all about marketing and Sony has so much to catch up.
I'd be willing to jump ship to an S7 mini. After using my z3c for so long, I always end up going back to it no matter what phone I buy

S7 is a sexy beast (in black) I had both S7 and my black XP (prototype) in the hand. S7 is much more refined than XP, hence they've been working on that design for two generations now, so it has improved to perfection in my personal opinion. Sony is now trying the "slight" curve-design for the first generation, and there is place for refinement, that's true! But look how fast devs supports S7 and S7E. S7E already have a custom Rom, kernel and Twrp3.0.0.0. That's fast!! Sony, we wait almost 3-6 months, much because of the drm bull**** which frighten us and devs for loosing camera quality(mainly) Even though camera isn't all that dashing, quite frankly. If I had a sd820 running S7(nice footprint) with custom Rom (CM13 or RR) I wouldn't blink twice before (h)jumping on it but respect to Sony anyway for trying to keep up with the big boys, and XP is a nice device, no doubt!
Hardware and camera wise I prefer Samsung. They use Gorilla glass 4 (saw durability test vs iphone 6, it holds very well vs the metal back). I 'm not a cam happy guy, so a noob friendly camera will suit me better. I don't game on the phone so performance doesn't matter much. What matters for me is the sound quality. S7 has louder output on the headphone and speaker than Z5 according to hifi org.
But I want a stereo speaker for my morning bathroom:laugh: . It is out of question that S7 mini will have stereo speakers.

Samsung phones get swarms of devs, meaning aosp goodness. I never keep touchwiz for more than a few hours when I get a Samsung lol if we could get some aosp love on the z5c ID be happy, Sony's ui isn't much nicer than touchwiz
