I have an I337 AT&T fully rooted and I want to flash CWM or TWRP so I can flash a Google Play Edition Rom 5.0. Also I am on 4.4.4 kitkat
Anyone who knows how to do this please help
Check out the guides in general skip the root and go to install recovery. They also have a tarp app with root that can install it ( its not 100% sometimes but works great the other times )
They also have auto root recovery programs.
If your on a newer version you must safestrap there is a whole thread dedicated to it

Here is what I used on both jb and kk. I went to twrp home page and downloaded the latest version (img.tar) and flashed it via Odin 3.09. I then downloaded downloaded the custom ROM and flashed using the recovery. If you are wanting to stay stock with root download the latest version of superSU to your SD card and then flash using the custom recovery.
Here is one thing I found out after updating to KK when holding the buttons to boot into recovery only hold them until you see the text "recovery booting" (or something similar). If you continue to hold, the phone will bootloop and actually turn on. Hope this helps.

please where to download this file please? you said you go to twrp home page, where is it?
Second, you said: If you are wanting to stay stock with root download the latest version of superSU to your SD card and then flash using the custom recovery.
I don't understand what you mean, can we root it without flashing the firmware? only using the latest version of superSU to my SD card and then flash using the custom recovery. that's all.
Other questions:
Oneclic root software can it work with Note 3 N900T 4.3 T-MBIL , Such as: VRoot_1.7.4. or kingo Android root ?

Twrp: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2
(Make sure you download the correct version for you OS. Kitkat or Jelly Bean. If it were me I would make sure you are updated to KK.) Make sure the file you download is the one ending with img.tar and flash with Odin.
You do not need to flash a custom ROM to achieve root. You can use the base android version and have root. If you want to use a custom ROM there is no need to mess with SuperSU as almost every ROM will have it prebuilt in. If you are ONLY wanting root without changing your ROM then you will need to flash SuperSU using a custom recovery, I prefer twrp.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
Here is the link to get the .zip file for the most up to date version of SuperSU.
Here are some instructions:
Flash twrp using Odin
Enter recovery mode (if not sure how to do it, Google it) Make sure you only hols the buttons until the words "recovery booting" appear and then release.
Once in twrp you can then flash your ROM or SuperSU. If you do not know how to use twrp just look it up on YouTube.
Once you have twrp and SuperSU OR a custom ROM you should be rooted.
WARNING: Rooting your phone with my method WILL trip Knox!
Extra questions: I did research and did not trust the companies performing the one click root. It's up to you on who you trust. I have no experience with the one touch rooting, but as long as they say you device is supported by them then you should be good to go.

Hi guys,
Not sure of this wss covered already but i was unable to locate anything that helps
I currently have a Galaxy Note 3 n9005 international LTE version with stock kitkat installed 4.4.2. The phone is rooted which i did upon receiving it and have super user 2.0 installed. i have confirmed root with titanium back.
Now i wanted to try a custom rom and tried to install the new phillz touch recovery but observed that it kept failing in odin (tried several times) i even tried to install a custom recovery via ROM Manager which it said the update was complete but when ever i boot into recovery mode i keep get the stock android recovery.
i have search and cannot find anything that help so here i am.
My Android version N9005XXUENC2 AND Kernel version is 3.4.0-636608 dpi @SWDD5619 #1
From my understanding once u root it should have install a custom recovery. When i got the phone it came with Jelly bean 4.3 and i rooted then updated to kitkat, could this be the issue. Does that mean i have root again?
Any assistance given is greatly appreciated.
Install CWM 6.0.4.7 by Chinglu via pc odn (tar)
Then if you wantvto change to Philz, install Ohilz (zip) through custom recovery

I want to get rid of original stock , which is loaded with lot of crap and want to install light weight custom rom.
Any pointers , help is highly appreciated.

Download Free version of Rom Manager and after install see if it will not install which ever you want through it CWM or TWRP. Way I do it. You are Rooted???? Here is link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager&hl=en After install open and click on "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" then it gives you choice of CWM or TRWP
I already tried rom manager after rooting the phone, and get the success message as well. But when i restart phone in recovery mode , I am still getting stock recovery options instead of CWM or TRWP.

You can't install custom recoveries. Our bootloader is locked. Your only option is using safestrap
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
U can't install a traditional recover. Since U are on NB1, your baseband is locked and your only option is Safestrap (TWRP). Read the instructions carefully at least once all the way thru and then proceed. Pay close attention because it's not like most phones. It works just fine. U can have a heavily modified Touch Wiz Rom or even now a AOSP based Google Play Edition Rom.
Proceed here:
[INDEX] All things AT&T MK2, NB1, and NC1 (including ROMs

Make sure to flash the NC2 Kernel located in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2787627
I had the same problem with my backup of Hyperdrive 8. I flashed that kernel and it booted without further issues.
Just to clarify the steps:
Boot into recovery with SS app
Factory reset
Flash ROM
Reboot into download mode
Use Odin to flash the NC2 kernel
If you properly follow the instructions for flashing your specific ROM of choice, and add in the last two steps, you should be fine.
Hi everyone,
I rooted my phone so I have towelroot, SuperSU, TWRP Manager, Goomanager and Root Checker Basic installed now.
Root Checker reports that my phone is rooted.
I tried to install TWRP Recovery in multiple ways buy it all failed. Here what I tried:
1) Downloaded tar version and using ODIN3 attempted to install it.
2) Using TWRP Manager, found latest compatible version (2.8.7.jflteatt) then it said ensure partition listed below is correct one and entry was "/dev/block/mmcblk0p21" when I click yes it showed flashing and verifying then it gave an error saying "something is wrong. flashing recovery is unsuccessful."
3) Using Goomanager I attempted to install it but it cannot find a proper version to install at all.
I want to install Google Edition of Lollipop on my phone. How do I achieve at this point?
No Idea?
Nobody has any idea??
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the only compatible recovery with the S4 is Safestrap?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448925
I don't know at all. I thought TWRP was available...
It is in a way. Because the bootloader is locked on the S4, you can't use TWRP, but Safestrap is available to use. Essentially it's TWRP, but modded to work on the S4's locked bootloader. It currently doesn't work for OC3 (Lollipop), but it works for JB and KK.
I would say to look at this thread to help you a little more: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2616221
I'm still new to working with the S4 so I don't want to tell you the wrong thing
That was already a lot! Thank you much! I Rooted now I cannot factory format it or install any rom to clean it up...
Thank you!
