First, check your apn. Then provide more info. What firmware are you on? How did you root it,etc.

rooting will not kill your network connection. that's something that you did. you need to provide a LOT more information in order to have people help you out,
what ROM are you on, what settings did you change, what mobile carrier are you on, etc. etc. this is a simple fix, but we need to know what caused it first. :good:

The SIM card can not register to my network has it something to do with the imei??

Never give out your imei number
Well the person above me said it. You just made a mountain out of a mole hill by giving out your imei to everyone on xda. Anyway, have you tried a factory reset? If that doesn't work take it to Best Buy and tell them Kies wrecked havoc on your device and they can re-flash your phone for free. Don't tell them it was your fault.

I don't know what the problem is but you should be able to flash the stock firmware in Odin and get your phone working again. Double check this in the i9500, i9505, i9505G S4 forum. You can get the stock firmware from sammobile.com

He should be able to flash it himself. The i9505 is not locked down like the i337. It's an international version so he probably can't take it to best buy, which is what I was responding to.

Data enabled, but no internet connection
Hello,
I have the stock rooted i337 (AT&T), running on another provider network. I am aware that i337 is very difficult to do modifications due to the built-in by AT&T vicious locks to prevent using it with other network providers. This is the reason I did not flash ROM, because I am afraid to get my phone bricked and lose it entirely. Recently I subscribed to a data plan from a third party provider and I have 4G in the status line and HSPA in the data type, but I still did not have internet connection when WiFi was disabled, except that my Hotmail somehow worked. No other apps requiring internet worked. I spent a week researching the issue myself as well as working with the provider's tech support, but nothing worked. Two days ago, almost out of despair, I installed a new app called Opera Max, which is developed to route the unencrypted data to their Virtual Private Network in order to compress it and save the data use. As soon as I connected to VPN, all applications started working. I still have to turn Opera Max off when I use WiFi, because it disconnects my WiFi every few minutes, claiming that WiFi signal is too low. (My signal is very strong and no other devices have any issues with WiFi). However, this is a minor problem, considering that Opera Max saved my data plan.
It is still a mystery to me why Hotmail worked, but no other apps and why using Opera Max VPN solved the problem. If anybody has ideas, I will be happy to hear.
I must say that all data settings, including APN are checked, rechecked and correct, so this was not the issue.
Thanks,
Dan
I am also having connection issues after rooting my S4 i9505:
I am on a Telcel (Mexico) which is supposed to support 4G connections... However, ever since I rooted I can only access 2G/GSM networks. I have the official APN network configuration and I have tried two roms but still no luck...
Any advice would be most welcome.
I have a 16 GB Samsung galaxy s5 on Verizon. I've been trying to connect my phone to one of the jetpacks from Verizon and every time I try it doesn't give an error message it just refuses to connect. The jetpack will allow every other device on it to connect except for mine. Any help is appreciated thank you

Are you sure the passcode is correct for you to be accessing it? AFAIK you have to have them passcode locked.
Yeah it wasn't the password. I found the reset on the jetpack shortly after posting and after holding that for 10 seconds everything started working fine. Thanks for the help though
My sister bought an S4 off of eBay that was set for Boost Mobile and has had issues with it since she got it. She tells me that when she boots it up that a bunch of error messages pop up but once she closes them she can use the phone for calls and text as well as the internet but only on WiFi. She gets no mobile data and no GPS but does have a SIM card in it, however Boost is not able to activate the card.
She tells me that the phone is a former Sprint phone, and has contacted Boost about her issues but there has been no resolution. They have tried sending firmware to her phone but it has not helped. I do not have physical access to the phone as she is in Florida and I am in North Carolina. I have flashed my AT&T S4 before with no issues and want to try to help her. She however knows nothing about flashing phones but is willing to try it.
What I am trying to find out for her is what she could do to get her phone working the way it should. Would she have to flash it back to a Sprint phone and then to Boost again? What software and firmware would she need to do this? Would she lose her phone number or be able to keep it? I know nothing about doing this but can figure things out pretty well and can follow directions to do the job, and would also have to walk her through doing this herself. This is her only phone and she can't afford to get a different one right now so having this one working is important for her.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

If the phone was originally on Sprint and someone flashed it to Boost Mobile, I can see why she is having problems. I would advise that the phone be returned and obtain other one that hasn't been modified. Boost Mobile will RESKU the Sprint Galaxy S4, S4 Triband and S4 Mini that haven't been modified at no charge and everything will work.
The full list of eligible Sprint devices are listed on the link below.

Does anyone know if the usb/ or hotspot of foxfi/pda net or other non native teathering apps work on the z force droid? ive been on unlocked and rooted phones for a while but i'm just not seeing anything that i want. i bought a oneplus 3 then found out it didn't have the lte bands for verizion. derp. but i think id go back to a locked phone for this modular deal as long as i could still teather with pda net. cuz i ant pay'n no 30 bucks for Verizon to "unlock" the capability of my phone. pffffffftttttttttt.
just curious if anyone knows or could check
FoxFi/PDA works fine over bluetooth.
what about usb or wifi?

Both bluetooth and USB work, but WiFi requires a mobile hotspot plan (which I don't have, so I can't test).
If you are the only one on your plan, go prepaid, I dont pay extra and the stock tethering under settings works just fine

I searched for the same, tried a number of apps, tried all of these recommended root apps & protocols ended up with the same disappointing result. Most of it just didn't work or no one could provide the necessary tools in proper sequential steps.
With you phone powered on remove your sim card. Go to Mobile hot spot & tethering, activate blue tooth tethering.wait a few minutes put your sim back in. you should now be able to pair devices with your phone and share its internet connection..

Found this in the other threads regarding hotspot. If you download "Network Signal Refresher Lite" from 8JAPPS in the playstore you can use native tethering. Just open the app and hit refresh and the moment you lose service drag down the quick tiles and tap the hotspot button. Been using this on my Moto Z Droid for the past few days and it works perfectly

Great tip. works like a charm. and i see why, its so simple. if ya wanted something similar without downloading the app id imagine pulling your sim or anything that pops the radio off for a few so it can't call home and ask for permission.

Use Network signal refresher
Does anyone know of any workarounds? Network Signal Refresher stopped working for me with Nougat as well.
Yesterday they had an update for Network Signal Lite to version 5.0. Didnt work for me.
Today they have another update to version 5.1 hoping it fixes the issue. Just figured I would share.
i take it popping the sim doesn't work as well then. seams as if they might have closed the "if not able to call home let hotspot on anyway" bug then.

Popping the sim card does indeed work just hit the hotspot icon in the quick settings right after you reinsert it. Been doing since the first day nougat came out and it works every time.

Neither on wifi nor cellular will it check for update. I get the error "sorry, we are having trouble authenticating your device"
Any idea how to fix this ?
wondering the same :/ anyone have anything?
see my post here. besides flashing the t-mobile ummm rom I guess over it, you won't be able to update. Thats not the case. I am using vzw GS8 on att and I receive updates fine
Well I'm confused then. I was able to do the last update with a t-mobile Sim in the phone? Right now when I try checking for updates it errors out saying it couldn't be authenticated. Anyone have any clue?
Hope I can help you!
How to update your system if you're not using the carrier from your S8(+) version.

you wont be able to updated through wifi or LTE unless you use a verizon SIM but you can do it easily using your computer and samsung smart switch.

Try to get at least an inactivated Verizon sim card from any Verizon store or you can also try a normal working Verizon sim. I had AT&T Galaxy S5 and it needed the carrier's sim card to even check for update. I took the sim, put it in, checked for update and was able to install it.
Fix to your issue
Hey guys so I do also share the same situation, I have a Verizon s8+ yet I have T-Mobile One as my coverage
Because it's not authenticated as a Verizon provided account it simply won't update
Now.. the solution to updating isn't directly on your device.
It's within the Samsung Smart switch App for either Mac or windows, you can run an update through there with little to no problems at all and finally keep your device up to date without having to return it for an unlocked one.
Just a brief note regarding the smart switch App, keep in mind that sometimes the update will freeze at a certain percentage on the computer so just be sure to close the app out only if your Samsung device hasn't received the green upload screen yet.
Hopefully this helps out alot of you guys ?
Best regards

I'd like to flash mine to t mobile, I'm begging you to help me with this!!!
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
I've seen a bunch of info on the forums on how to flash the T-Mo ROM on an s8 - as well as flashing the Samsung Unlocked ROM on the s8 but frankly, almost all the threads are from back at the phone launch - and it is unclear to me which roms & programs to search for.
In a similar vein - I'm a noob to the whole process using oden - which I think is what i would need to use. I have experience from years ago running cyanogen mods on a nook tablet and messing with windows phones - but nothing recent and things have changed a lot.
I've read conflicting reports throughout the forums on doing this...
I'm running a VZW Branded (but it's now "unlocked")
Model: s8 SM-G-950U
Build #: NRD90M.G950USQS2BQL1
Baseband #: G950USQS2BQL1
What I'm looking for (really the right word is "NEED"):
Access to lower 700 A block (full band 12 use)
Ability to get OTA Updates
Mobile Hotspot Functionality
WiFi Calling
VoLTE
Bixby
If I could have these all running the Samsung Unlocked ROM - then that would be preferred...
If not - I would want to flash the T-Mobile ROM.
I need to know ASAP as I only have 14days from today (2/14/18) to figure this out or go back to VZW
Many thanks!
