How much virtual RAM space does Android need/use? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Note 4 32gb with 128GB microsd card. 910F.
I noticed for that past week that touchwiz kept force closing, some games didnt startup and got generaløt slower experience. I reflashed my rom Lolipop BOC3. But touchwiz kept force closing.
I noticed that I only had around 500MB of free space on my internal sdcard. So I freed up some space so its 2 gig free now and everything is back to normal.
So Im assuming that Android OS uses some sort of virtual memory so that it needs some free space on int sd to work properly. But over 500MB? For a mobile phone that seems alot.
Anyone know how much free space is actually required before things go to hell?

[Q] Issue with phone memory

Greetings all
I have a HD2 running Android. The ROM is DL DesireZ v2 internal. software number 1.72.466.4
I am at an understanding there is a new version out but the flash I have atm is 100% working besides one thing....the phone memory.
When I first flashed it I had loads of phone memory, I think it was like what, 150mb?
But I downloaded lots of apps, even used the Apps2Sd app to save space on the phone memory.
So after a while, I ran out of phone memory, how? I have no idea.
I have deleted all the apps I had and I still have <10mb space on my phone memory and I can not find ANYTHING on the phone memory taking up this space.
Anyone else have this issue?
My gf is going nuts at me over this, she said she may as well have the Win 6.5 back on it, since she had no apps anyways
Cheers,
Gib
yea i have the same problem..
all my apps are installed on my sd card or my ext3 partition.
still i have very little phone memory available.
somehow it looks like the phone is saving the app on the phone but then moving it to the sd card without removing it on the phone memory and causing data loss?
also when updating an app i just lose a lot of internal memory..
how is it possible that there are a lot of people with this problem (i searched the forums) and nobody know an answer to this?

[Q] Galaxy S4 Storage Issue,

So i Got an S4. I rooted it and im running stock 4.2.2 XXUBMEA firmware. With the new update, i can move apps to the SD card, but App data is still internal. you cannot move app data. About 7gb of my internal memory is already taken up by android which leaves me with around 9.23gb left. after installing all my necessary apps, i have left about 7.3gb internal storage left. The problem is here. Most HD games these days have Data files around 1gb. for example, games like Asphalt 7, Batman and GTA Vice City. they all have sd data of around 1gb. And as you know, on the s4, unfortunately, you can only put Sd data on the internal storage and you cannot put it in the micro SD card. So, in order to play these HD games, i have to use my internal memory. By doing this, i wont have much memory left and will probably run out of memory after 3-5 HD games. What do you think is the best solution for this? How do i play a lot of HD games on my device? After all, I paid a lot for this phone. I hope i did not waste my money. Remember i am rooted. Is there anything i can do?
Thanks
Help will be much appreciated.
Since you have root try Folder Mount. It transfers game data to sd card and mounts it to internal sd. Free version let's you add 3 apps paid version is unlimited. It's worth ebery penny trust me

Apps gone from SD card after reboot on Marshmallow

I have a Moto X Pure 16GB with stock Marshmallow 6.0. I have a Samsung Pro 128GB U1 SD card installed as internal memory. If I move, or if an installed app is installed to the SD card, they disappear from the Home screen AND the app drawer on a reboot. When I reboot, the Icons are usually there just after boot up, then vanish after a minute or two. Apparently the data is not lost, because any games seem to have retained info and saves, but I have to re-install and move all the apps.
I have seen some posts that mostly do not offer any solutions, just advise me to get a bigger internal memory. Too late for that. I got this phone because I could expand the "internal" memory so much. If anyone has a workaround, please let me know. I was going to send the phone back to Motorola for service, but I don't think they even know what is going wrong.

Internal storage space shrinking for no reason

A while ago even after moving all movable apps to SD card on my J730F/DS i was constantly out of space. Using CC cleaner i was deleting everything that could be deleted i was down to 4-500Mb free space on the internal memory.
Looking at all the apps i had installed there was no way that it could fill up the whole 16GB so i did a factory reset. After reset and reinstalling all the apps back and moved them back to SD card i had a cool 9.7GB free on internal memory. That was great i did not even care why and what was taking all that space.
All great and good for few days but one evening going to sleep i woke up next day and 1GB was gone. All updates disabled, phone just sitting and charging. It was annoying but still plenty of space.
One week later i decide to manually update the apps i wanted updated to see if the updates are eating up space even if the apps are on SD card. All good and done, apps moved back to SD after update, no change in storage space. Then 3 days later same thing over night i woke up and 700MB missing.
Another week has passed, no more updates just couple of ne apps installed and moved to SD. Storage space stays the same. I uninstalled all of the pre-loaded apps with ADB and all seems fine for few days. Today i woke up and another 700MB gone form internal storage.
This is getting ridiculous. I think they are doing something to the Android to eat up space in order for us to buy new phones, just as Apple was caught slowing down devices. I do not need a new one, this one does everything i need it to do.
Does anyone has an idea where all the space goes and how to recover it ?

Base System RAM shortage?

When I bought this phone the operating system allowed the Base 4Gb RAM to be augmented with the inserted 16GB SD Card. This meant that the phone could use more than the 4Gb for the System. For some reason - I suspect one of the previous firmware updates - this doesn't appear to work any more. It's become evident because the phone only has a couple of Apps loaded and keeps complaining about being low on memory. 4.4Gb of 4.6Gb used. All the photos and videos are on the SD Card, the few that are on there anyway. Most have been deleted in the desperate search for where the memory has been used. Can anyone tell me if my suspicion about the firmward upgrade removing the SD Card RAM is correct please?
As far as I know ... you can use a external sd card of 128 GB if you want to. The internal sd-card is small (considering what is left) so don't use too much space by apps, images, backup etc.... and place all what is possible on the external sd-card.
Your RAM is 1.5 GB Your system almost 3.6 GB ....so I think that in your case the total is 24 GB and only 3 GB left on the internal card .... this is normal.
Don't confuse memory with Ram.

That's funny, RAM stands for Random Access Memory. It is Memory. (I built my first computer in 1977). Thanks for your response but what I was asking about is the manufacturers firmware versions and which one stopped making the SD Card memory available to use as System RAM.
