Hi All,
This afternoon I was trying to upgrade my LG G2 from KitKat to Lollipop using the how-to in this thread.
I have the D802 model and downloaded the German stock Lollipop (16 GB) for the D802 (which should be similar to what they are going to give Dutch users) and followed the manual step-by-step. So far so good. After 23% the phone gave me the error (ASSERT) in the Firmware Upgrade mode. I retried to install the upgrade a few more times, but every time it gave me the same error at different percentages.

I can enter the mode where I can restore the factory settings and delete everything, but for example the download mode didn't work (or I am doing something wrong). Every time I restart the phone it automatically goes into the firmware upgrade mode.
Does someone know how I can fix this?
Everyone's help is much appreciated!
Hi
I had the same problem, or something similar.
And i wrote it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59891571&postcount=8
The only difference - is in our "ways of updating"
My LG G2 gave me message that there is available software update and that i should conect my phone to PC.
1. So i conected it with my PC through LG PC Suite, and went on "check software update"
2. After that, it started downloading update and instaling it, while G2 went to "Update firmware screen"
3. It stopped arround 23 % with "ASSERT" message.
4. I changed PC machine, and went to lap top because i thought it was driver related problem
5. I conected my G2 to laptop, this time with "LGMobile Support Tool", but before that i instaled all drivers again
6. Then used "Options > Recovery upgrade"
7. "LGMobile Support Tool" then downloaded update and started instaling it, while G2 was in an "Update firmware screen" mod, and stopped again like on PC around 23% with ASSERT message.
8. I put out my USB cable from phone and inserted again, and used "RETRY" option in "LGMobile Support Tool".
9. This time i got to around 30% of upgrading when ASSERT message came up.
10. I did all again and got around 40%, and again ASSERT message came up
11. So I was very persistant and I was reapiting this and I got to 50%, then 60%, then 70%. then, 80%, then 90%, then 92% and finaly got 100% of upgrading
After that, G2 rebooted, app were optimazing, and I got LG G2 working again, but i got messages "proces android.com has stoped" on every 3 seconds and i was without network.
12. Factory reset was solution, now everything is working very smooth, i am running lolipop 5.0.2 and i instaled now all my app and added my accounts.
My advice is, don't stop, repeat proces of updating for several times until you get to 100 % of upgrading software
This is very unusual, and I dont know what is causing this to happen, but it worked from 10th time

So I got this phone off a friend and I factory reset it which all worked fine, then I thought I would update it before I got to far. I have not had any success, I have even scoured the forums and the internet without any success so I'm hoping that someone with some experience may be able to assist or point out something I am missing. The phone is stuck in Download mode - I can't get it to boot to the rom at all.
I have a feeling there may be corruption on the phone - You'll see why a little further down, however I cannot be sure.
I am stuck in Download Mode

I have tried every method to get the update to work that I can find.
I started off by installing all the LG apps and Drivers. The phone is recognised from what I can tell.
I downloaded a couple of stock roms
When I open LG Mobile Support Tool - It says the software is up to date. When I go to 'Options' the only option I get is 'Update Recovery' which I chose and let it download and start installing. Once it gets to 4% is stops. I have pulled the battery and tried over and over again but it keeps stopping the update at 4%. I have even tried removing the battery completely and continuing the install but the same thing happens.
So I tried this over and over with no success. I tried with battery, without battery, I tried getting in Emergency Mode with no success. I tried booting into the OS with no success. So I continued surfing looking for answers.
I found KDZ and thought this might be the missing piece of the puzzle, however this kept crashing every time I tried loading info from the phone and even when I skipped that and just tried installing the ROM.
And the data in the log file looks out of place...
I played around with this hoping to get it to work, but I couldn't. I tried CDMA and it kept failing and it wouldn't even attempt to install the ROM.
So the next one I gave a shot was LG Flash Tool 2014.
This is the only info I can get to pull from the phone.
I am out of options and I'd really like to get this sorted without having to send it off for repair. I see there is an IMEI error - Does anyone know a way for me to repair it?
Any suggestions or experiences you can share that may help would be really great.

I haven't viewed the images, but try this
-Goto download mode.
-Open KDZ updater
-Select the kdz, select 3QCT (something like that) and DIAG (forgot the options, its been long since I flashed a stock ROM)
-Flash the kdz
-KDZ updater will crash, it is quite normal
-Do a hard reset (remove battery, put it back, vol - + power + home, when it vibrates remove power and hold on vol - and home for another 5 sec)
-Hopefully, it should boot..

Make sure you have drivers installed BEFORE conecting the phone.
Also the only flasher that worked for me is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2409308
Hello there, I am very very new, so please forgive if I do a mistake.
So earlier today I was trying to root my S5(SM-G900H) and I was trying out this method: http://www.androidrootz.com/2014/04/how-to-root-galaxy-s5-recovery-root.html
Everything was going smooth, Odin showed me the "PASS!" too, but when I pressed the volume up, home and power button keys together, nothing happened and the phone was on the download mode, it didn't do anything. So I took out the battery and rebooted, and it rebooted normally and I was able to use it again. I tried the same method at least 10 times more but always failed. Then after some time I stumbled upon this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696537
Followed all steps except one, didn't uncheck the "Auto Reboot" box and the "F. Reset Time" simply because Odin didn't let me, the boxes were dim and the mouse didn't respond on hovering over them. So, now my mistake, I pressed start anyway and Odin got to the blue box saying "RESET" or something and my phone restarted and the "Samsung Galaxy S5" logo and the "Powered by android" logo screen came up and it has been stuck there forever. I tried getting it into recovery a lot of times but recovery just won't come however it does load the download mode, so I tried the same "[SM-G900*] CF-Auto-Root" method, only this time I used a version of Odin that let me uncheck all the boxes, I tried several times but it just got stuck on the download mode like it happened in the first method, I rebooted and still stuck on the black and white samsung screen, yes that's right, not even the boot up animation. PLEASE HELP PLEASE HELP. I'M DYING
Here is a picture of what my problem looks like:

Download a stock firmware for your device model, and install it via Odin.
The best way to do it, is do it through kies3. Go:
tools > Firmware Upgrade And Initialisation, and follow the on screen steps. It will ask you for your serial number and model number, so have it handy. This is how I have saved my galaxy devices numerous times.

So after trying to backup everything in recovery and flash PACMAN ROM for my phone, everything seemed fine, until it rebooted... When the LG logo appeared, suddenly weird horizontal lines started going across my screen and suddenly the edges of the phone started greying until the whole phone started going greyish-white, then powered off. I tried rebooting several times, and eventually it just wouldn't boot at all. If I hild the power button, it vibrates for a sec and nothing. When I plugged it into my PC, I can access it like a USB storage drive and my internal storage is still there, but I can figure out how to fix my phone. Did my screen die? Is there a way I can recover my phone from my PC via USB?

Back up your internal storage to your pc, more importantly the nandroid which is in the TWRP folder. Then follow this guide to get your phone back to stock.
I think that rom is kk u can find more info about that problem in liquidsmoth thread please tell me if fix it if not that mean how I know maybe u need to replace something in motherboard
Art is right. Follow the guide to get back to stock. If that doesn't work then it's a hardware problem.
Looks like I'm never trying the pacman rom on the g2...
Ok update. After following the steps in that guide posted, the firmware loaded and the AT&T boot screen popped up after reboot, though now LG Flash Tool is still doing it's thing and the screen's off with the phone still in USB and power light slowly blinking red, so I have no idea if it's fine or not.

Alright, it turns out it completed the installation and I just had to unplug it, it now works! I just want to know of which custom ROM to go with now.

*Title should read CAN'T get to download or recovery*
Hi guys,
I've rooted all of my phones, got in a few scrapes, but always been able to get into recovery/download mode to rescue a phone that's having problems.
Tonight I updated my CM13 Galaxy S5 to the latest nightly (last update was a nightly in March) using the built-in method (Setting > About ... Download .. Install) which has always worked, but tonight I seem to be stuck worse than ever:
Phone stuck in loop at "installing system update" screen, it flashes briefly then reboots . Around once per second.
Need to pull battery to stop
Won't enter recovery (goes to step one)
Won't enter download (also goes to step one)
I can't get to download or recovery!

Many many thanks in advance!

You could try a usb jig (available for less than pocket change off eBay) this will force your phone directly into download mode even from a powered off state simply by plugging it into the phones usb socket.......

USB Jig did the trick...used Odin to pop TWRP on again, and that did the trick. It rebooted and came back to life, thank you!
On reflection, I think the problem came about when I started using CyanDelta. With the last CM update (the first I did with CyanDelta) it put Cyanogenmod's recovery in place over TWRP. Next time I tried to use CyanDelta it wouldn't work, so I updated via Settings > About > Update....which seemed to cause the problem.
Now, question is, do I stick with the Motorola Moto G 3rd gen I bought to get me through this week...or go back to the S5!
Glad it worked fella.....
As to which phone to use......
Now *that* is a question only you can answer.......

Howdy everyone...
OnePlus 7t Pro McLaren edition (International Edition **NOT T-MOBILE**)
Model: HD1913
Current Software Build: Oxygen OS 10.0.5.HD01AA (OTA update when I first unboxed).
I am having issues trying to return to stock. I rooted the phone with a combination of a couple guides found here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/7t-pro/how-to/10-0-3-patched-boot-image-oneplus-7t-pro-t3986351 and . I noticed after doing that I was missing the stock Oxygen apps and my build information was missing data. Not a huge deal, but I need to wipe the phone and start from scratch anyway, for other reasons. I decided to go back to stock if I have to redo everything anywhere.
First thing I tried, I got the stock firmwares (https://forum.xda-developers.com/7t-pro/how-to/oneplus-7t-pro-repo-oxygen-os-builds-t4003455). And this is where my issues started. My software build is weird... I have the HD1913, however my software build is HD01AA. Per that post, I should have HD01BA. I grabbed both of them for giggles, put them on my storage and booted into TWRP. Tried to flash the HD01AA (since that was what I have now), and it failed. Tried the other one, same issue. I'm getting a bunch of errors while trying to mount the system ("System unable to mount: invalid argument").
Second thing I tried, was to use the built in software update that OnePlus says to use (through the system update). It wouldn't install them (surprise).
Third attempt... Using the MsmDownloadTool (https://forum.xda-developers.com/7t-pro/how-to/op7tpro-unbrick-tool-to-restore-device-t4002909) I downloaded both versions cause I don't know which to use, and followed the instructions to get the phone into the mode. Turn the phone off, hold the vol up button and plug the cable in (very simple). It shows up connected in the software. Exactly 5 seconds later, the phone reboots and boots normally... I repeat this process aprox. 2.3 million more times. It does not matter what USB-C cable I use, the port on my computer, or how long I hold the buttons. The phone will boot into the download mode (or whatever it's called) show up as connected in MsmDownload and then reboot.
The phone works. I am still able to boot it up.... All I want to do is get this phone back to stock. I don't HAVE to, but now that it's fighting me, I have to beat it...

Okay - After sacrificing an iPhone to the Android God, I got it.
Instead of using the button combination to get into EDL Mode, I found an article that gave an adb command (adb reboot edl) to get to it. It did not reboot this time, and I was able to flash HD01BA to it, which matches what the phone should have...
