Paranoid Android Gapps - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently went back to m y Nexus 7 Grouper, and it told me there was an update for the ROM.
So I updated, not realizing it went to 5.0.2 Lollipop. Google Play didn't work, and i had sync issues with Gmail.
PA Gapps thread is close, and all the links are removed.
Can someone recommend a GAPPS for PA? The one I thought I found just keeps failing to load all types of services and I cannot get to my home screen.
(and yes, I searched)
Thanks,
Evo

[Q] Paranoid Android 2.99 & Gapps

Sadly, since I'm a new user I can't post this in the Nexus 7 Android Development forum so I'm posting it here.
Simply, what version of Gapps should I be using with Paranoid Android 2.99 Beta 3? Whenever I install the ROM with the latest version of Gapps available on their site it will boot but go into a "crash loop" as Gapps attempts to set up my Nexus 7.
If I install the ROM without Gapps it boots just fine. However, I don't have access to Play Store, etc...
Please point me in the direction of the proper version of Gapps.

The package you install is for JB. For 4.2 you need the new one or you will get boot loop. Google it.

is there a way to delete some of the useless gapps before flashing? I just want maps and google playstore.
Hello there, just wanted to clarify - when I upgrade to a newer version of PA, I reckon it is also necessary to update the gapps, right? If so, when dirty flashing, should I just wipe the cache and install proper version of the gapps after flashing the ROM or is factory reset required? Thanks for any advice.

Just cache and dalvik. Factory reset would only be necessary if they made substantial changes to the rom base.

[Q] Google Services Not Working

I am using my rooted Nexus 4 and google services are not working, when I try to sign in I get 'Can't establish a reliable connection to the server'. It is not just the rom I am on (currently Omni rom) because I have tried several and it does not work on any of the roms. I also know that it is not a faulty gapps package because I have tried several different packages. I have scoured the web for a solution to the problem but none of the ones I have come across have had any effect. Does anybody have any advice?

Which Gapps are you using?
The one made by PA is highly recommended: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942
I would do a full wipe, then reinstall the ROM, then Gapps.

I have already done these things and none of them are effective.
I think our N4 has developed the same issue except it only happens on cellular data--no google maps or other google but great LTE speed and full (except for google) web access. This started about 3 mos ago. You're the first I've come across through my scouring. Rooted, DE-odexed stock. Sorry I can't help.

I have found ( what is probably a temporary) solution; I downgraded to JB and then upgraded back to KK. My gapps are working fine currently but I have a feeling they may break a gain again. However, for now my N4 is working smoothly.
Thanks. Will try.

[Q] Nexus 7 2012 not updating after flash

Hello all,
I am fairly new to rooting so please bare with me, I'll keep this short since I know I screwed up big time. I have a Nexus 7 2012 running 4.2.1, I rooted it no problem. My issue is that I had the cyanogen mod rom and the gapps that I wanted to flash but couldn't flash the cyanogen, so I flashed the gapps. Needless to say..now google doesn't work (youtube, gmail, etc.). Tried to restore, but it keeps doing the same thing and it won't update at all. Still running the stock recovery and just wanted to know how to fix this problem so that I can eventually get on android 4.4.4.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the advice, but I tried that and once it comes back up I still get the "Unfortunately, Gmail, Youtube, Google Play Music, & Text-to-Speech has stopped." Should I try to manually update to 4.3, I read that I can't get to 4.4 without being on the earlier version.
Flash the stock gapps.

Google Play Services keeps FC

I couldn't be the only one with this issue. I've tried stock Nougat, rooted and unrooted. I've also tried Substratum latest version, Nougat. No matter what I get a FC by Google Play Services every few minutes. Tried clearing cache and data for Play Services, it seemed to help for some time then the problem came right back. This happened on my 5X which I'm selling now, as well as my 6P. Anybody else having this issue?
Until it is cleared up I'm sticking with 6.0.1.
If you don't have the latest version of Play Services you can try updating to the newest version. Check your installed version against the newest one on APK Mirror.

Getting FC on 6.0.1 now too. Got the appropriate Play Services from APK Mirror but no improvement. Enabled all permissions for it. Only thing I can think of now is installing apps one at a time until I start getting FC

Hello all! I have the same problem on my Nexus 6P brand new...
Play Services stops all time, i cannot download or update a thing from play store, i cannot communicate with google servers (only some times)
Downloads some times gives me error 960...
Keyboard also crashes a lot
I've tried: Flashing different stock roms, flashed pure nexus custom rom... also tried bunch of different gapps packs... made an nandroid backup from another nexus 6p working and put it on mine... etc.. nothing happens... there is also a tricky thing on wifi connections... i have to wait much too long for it recognizes the internet connetion (it connets fine at the network).. tried in 4 different houses, and with 3 different sims...
Anyone has a clue here? im done reading and trying.
Thanks in advance!

Check your rom, under Settings > About Phone, verify your build number for example NBD91K or NBD90X for example. Most custom Rom's link the vendor img in the post somewhere. If your familiar with flashing then you shouldn't have a problem. If not use, skipsoft toolkit to help you root/flash or anything else android.
