[Q] What's the proper way to unlock now? - Focus General

I'm aware that MS doesn't unlock WP7 anymore, but I need to run that MicroSD card unlocker to give me back my MicroSD card.
What's the proper way to unlock nowadays? She's running one of the 7.5 updates.
I've tried some of the older tutorials, but not having much luck.

Just following up since I have an answer to my own question.
I didn't unlock the stock rom, I just flashed an already unlocked ROM. From there I pushed the SD card unlocker cab and all was good!
This was the ROM I used.

Flashing a custom ROM by SD card?

Hi,
I've been looking around for this but couldn't find it.
With my Xperia X1 i was able to flash ROMs by putting the ROM file onto my SD card, calling it kovsimg.nbh and reset while holding the Volume down button and the power button together, bypassing the PC completely.
Can this be done with the HD2?
Is it just a case of making sure the files are named leoimg.nbh?
Thanks
If you've looked and not found it, i suggest you get som new glasses. The Thread has been on the first page in Leo Rom forum all day.

AFAIK, this can only be done with official HTC signed ROMs..
The HardSPL thats available at the moment (By Bepe) doesn't work via the SD card method (for me that is, it gets stuck on the 'Loading' screen unless its an official HTC Rom, but in that case HardSPL gets overwritten anyway)
The SSPL method can't be done via SD card either.
I think the HardSPL that was being developed by cmonex would let you flash custom roms via SD card, judging by past HardSPLs for other devices (and even have SPL overwrite protection) but with the other HardSPL that has been released, the original HardSPL thread has been unstickied and is now buried in the forums...
EDIT:
Do not try to flash any cooked ROM via SD card.
Only official HTC ROMs can be flashed via the SD card (or RUU)
But I am pretty sure SPLs aren't even included in cooked ROMs anyway?
Sorry, havent had much sleep today.
Thanks a lot.

This statement of yours could be misleading.
Check this thread for another discussion on the same topic.
Apparently, dozens of other users are successfully flashing using SD card method.

[Q] Confused - does using uspl1.11cmon, CID unlock during the process?

Hi there,
I want to update my O2 XDA Orbit 1 to AndreW82_WM6.1_21056_Lite_v1.4_WWE so that I can install Tom Tom 7.
I have never used a cooked rom before.
A lot of the articles I have read seem to have been superceded by newer developments and I am finding it hard to confirm the exact process.
From what I can gather, I should take out my SDHC card, run uspl1.11cmon and then use the rom updater app with the AndreW82_WM6.1_21056_Lite_v1.4_WWE rom.
Is this correct. Do I need to CID unlock first, or does the uspl1.11cmon cover this?
Thanks for your help.

This means you can flash ANY ROM to your Artemis after flashing USPL on it, no need to pay for CID unlock anymore!

Those having questions on flashing (i.e. updating) their HTC Artemis could try following these steps 1) Backup e.g. PIM Backup 2) disable standby and hibernation then remove SIM & SDHC cards 3) if necessary then cid unlock 4) recommend hard reset or update to the latest official build 5) if necessary Update SPL to latest 1.11.cmon 6) flash new rom then hard reset 7) put in SIM & SDHC cards and enjoy the result of the hard work by the developer

problem unlocking a sd card

Hi guys,
Today i decided change my hd2 from android to wp7 and see what it is all about. So i installed yuki v2 rom,did everything what was in instruction. Later I found it a little boring and decided to go back to android. I read that first of all i should unlock my card with cab by sending it with cab sender. When i tried to do that,my phone has stuck. I reset it but it started reseting every time at wp7 splash screen. I tried to reflash wp7 rom,but in the middle of flashing i got error and phune stuck. Is there any chance to unlock my card on pc? If not, how can i flash again?
Sorry of my bad english, lookong forward to any news from you.
No, as of now, it is not possible to unlock it through PC. You can either reflash the rom till 7392 without the sd card in the phone, then hard reset the phone while restarting put the card back in. Upgrade to 7720, install the unlock card cab and unlock it.
Or else, if you have any nokia phone (with Symbian S60 5th Generation OS, like E71 and some others), you can use that to format your sd card.
And, you should not be posting your questions in the development section. There is Q&A section for these kind of questions.
Worked formatting with Symbian, thank you very much!

SIM network unlock PIN for htc hd2 with android 2.3.4 T-Mobile

hello. I bought unlocked HTC HD2 T-mobile.
But I put android 2.3.4 typhoon_cm7_v3.4.0-MAGLDR.zip and now when i put my non t-mobile sim card it asks me for SIM network unlock PIN, can you help me
you need to flash back to winmo in order to enter the sim unlock code. You CAN enter it into android, but it wont work, only winmo has the ability to write the required data to sim unlock it.
can I flash it back to winmo, and save my current android? and how do o find the code?
thanks for the help so far
you need to buy a code, or get one from a current t mobile customer. If it was sold unlocked, and now asks for a code, you were miss-sold it, because once its unlocked its always unlocked, , it can never get relocked.
yes you can backup your android rom thru CWM, then flash winmo, insert teh code, reflash magldr, cwm and restore your backup.
I have nand android, can I boot the winmo, or when I put the android it deleted the winmo?
hmmm
i didnt know all this could we put a moded version of min mo 6.5 and do a 1 timeboot for unlocking of an sd card?

This sounds like a really complicated thing to do..
Can I just put winmo ot my sdcard and run it?
I read that you can use winmo and android the same time if you have nand winmo and android on sd, but can this be done the other way arround?
Right now I am reading throughout the forum to see if this can be done and how, but if anyone knows the answer I will be very happy if you tell me.
Thanks for the help
No, winmo on nand only. Yes you deleted winmo when you flashed nand android. You will need to flash winmo from scratch.
@jackrabbit,, unlock SD card? We're talking about sim card unlock.
(Wait, did you mean "for unlocking OFF and SD card"? In which case i doubt it, winmo will only work from nand. Not SD.
The whole process should only take 25 minutes..
Magldr - cwm - backup and restore - backup - reboot to bootloader - flash a winmo rom - unlock sim card - enter bootloader - re apply 2.08.hspl android compatible radio, magldr and cwm - magldr - cwm - backup restore - full restore.
Ok, thank you.
For now I contacted with my seller that the phone isn`t unlocked and requested an unlock code. By the time he answers me and gives me the code I`ll stay with android, just because I still have some hope that the code will work on android.
If not, I`ll put the winmo and then android.
Do you know the easiest way to put winmo? I`ll need it only to put the code and then flash to android?
Thank you much for the help.

Well, it would take 25 mins to you.
I`m reading like for half an hour just to find out how to put winmo
And didn`t find anything
like for example I don`t know what Magldr and cwm
Oh, well.. there will be lots of reading
EDIT:
Okay... I couldn`t wait and flashed to winmo 7 - using this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nac3Fnf-lY4
and using radio Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14**:
i`m still waiting for my seller to respond
well, my seller gave me a code.. and when I enter it it says that it is accepted, but still when I try to make a call it asks me for the code and doesn`t give me to call.
Do you think that this has anything to do with the fact that the phone is using winmo 7, insted of the 6.5 version?
Exactly. Only winmo 6.5 has the ability to correctly accept that code.
Wont work in wp7 or android, because (drumroll....) its not an android or wp7 phone!
EDIT - oh its you that just bricked a tmous, guess you can stop worrying about how to unlock it. Sorry for your loss.
I did once input unlock code on android... It didn't work at start (phone couldn't get signal) but after I reflashed it with WinMo and reflashed radio it worked again... Before reflashing try manualy to select network, I think that after that it worked...
network unlock
buying a code is the only wait to unlock HD2 i don't have unlock box either.
I have problem, i have display with Ouy have tried 5 times, please wait until timeout -Sim Lock and how long i must stay or how bypass this
Is the unlock code the same for every hd2 or is it individual to the phone?
If it is generic, please could someone PM me the code.
Would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Timeout is not too long just put it to one side & review every 20 minutes until option is available
Codes are not generic so you will need get one for your device via its IMEI number
You can find codes via eBay at some success, I use http://www.pdamagician.com/unlocking.html with success & fast service on HTC & Samsung ...
You may also have a local shop that can do it via software & cable at sensible cost but take care as with everything buying cheap can lead to bad experience ...

not 100% sure its as simple as that. There's a lot of sites suggesting that after 5 incorrect attempts it needs to be unlocked using a cable rather than the code, (some places suggest it becomes permanently hard locked after 5 attempts, but maybe that's older information, id be more incliuned to believe the 'requires a cable')
Ive also seen some sites that suggest that after 5 attempts there is a much longer timeout, in the hours rather than minutes, and after THAT continuing to enter it incorrectly leads to a hard lock.

Never gone as far as 5 wrong codes but did read & post in a thread on xda with a guy on 5th attempt & waiting for time out, he did succeed but was a few hours before code would accept, will try & find thread later & link to it.
Personally if I have trouble after 3 attempts I get it done via cable as almost as cheap as codes here.
Thanks guys.
Reflashed stock rom because only windows mobile 6.5 can unlock the hd2, bought an unlock code from ebay for £1.11, entered it into winmo and have now reinstalled my android nand rom. works perfect

[Q] HTC HD 2 problems unlocking with Chevron

Hello there,
I have a problem with unlocking my htc hd2 with Chevron.
Since i upgraded my phone from WP7.0 to WP7.5 i have an connection error problem.
When i first installed WP7 on it it unlocked without any problem then i upgraded the same phone with the 7.5 wp version it seems to have problems unlocking it.
I tried everything step by step even uninstalling and installing sdk and zune but it still seems to be giving me the same problems.
I also tried to delete all the info in the hosts file and it still wont work.
Maybe its because i use the same pc and the same phone because after i updated 7.0 it saw the phone normally like an htc hd2 but after i flashed it with the 7.5 rom it saw the phone as the leo70.
I run windows 7 64 bit and i have no idea what else to try.
I also tried the dns dump and everything can someone help me out or should i just downgrade to 7.0 again ??
chevron not needed for WP7.... all ROM's is already unlocked....
which ROM you use? if you use BTTF you can unlock with cab files....
or simple do hard reset.... this not be back your WP7 to 7.0 but this restore original settings and unlock be back again
only way to restore 7.0 is to use restore i Zune.... or flash ROM again
Hey dxdy i have the Mango 7.5 beta rom version.
I dont know what to do maybe flas again with another rom or version or ?
i mean which one ROM you have... is many different ROM's: BTTF, HD2O, Pdaimatejam, CTRLPDA FSM
if you have BTTF ROM, your sd card is locked and you must unlocked it first to can flash new ROM.... other ROM's not lock card....
---------- Post added at 12:44 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:42 AM ----------
edit: sorry now i see beta version... you have BTTF ROM....
maybe is better to flash other ROM... but you must unlock your sdcard first cab file for unlock card or format card in old nokia phone....
Hey dxdy,
is there a link on how to unlock my sd card can i also format the card with the adapter in windows or better in an old phone ?
I want to install the Pdaimatejam v4 rom but i think i also need to update the radio and do i also need to install the v1 v2 v3b versions before i do this or can i directly install the 4v ?
you cant format locked (encrypted) card in windows.... card not readable...
read this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242071
Okay i just formatted the SD card with SD formatter 3.0 and i also did the steps described by you in the post of Pdaimatejam v4 rom
What will the problem be if i dont fix the battery and the radio ?
no matter, radio and battery fix not important.... it's optional... i dont see any difference if use or not...
