Just saying hello I just got this phone, I came from the tmobile gs2. the tmobile gs2 was nice but this phone is sooo much better, cause of the exynos and much more development!!! glad to join the team!!
In that case, I'd like to warmly say ...
I hope this thread isn't a sign of things to come from your time here.

Im sorry I wont be making any more pointless threads. Im just excited to have this phone.
Well, I would like to say welcome, and glad you are happy with your new toy.

Congratulations on moving to the real sgs2 yo
Just be careful and don't damage it lol
This is a pointless thread that I would make as soon as I got a toy like this! Love my phone still and its been over 9 months. Phones never last me longer than 6 months. Congrats on the new phone
Welcome aboard fella. Enjoy your stay..Here you can get women, smoke cubans and above all have a sexy gorgeous phone named the Galaxy S2....Welcome to paradise

oh dont worry first thing I did when I got home was root it and try out codeworkx's cm9. Besides the little bugs I love it, cant wait till the official release!!! That was a big part of me getting the phone, it'll have ICS on it way before the tmobile gs2!!
Btw if you want to root.... its so easy on this phone
Enjoy
I have had this for 2 month on t-mobile and am very happy.
Well, the rest 100.000 of us here on the forums also got this phone. Now imagine if we would all create a new thread to express our joy. Wouldn't that be a cesspool? Just saying...
Yeah, good job, it's a nice phone. Take care of it.

Congratulations
First of all, congratulations on getting your new phone. I can only say that this phone is still one of the best out there, especially for the developments made for this phone (credits to the developers). For me, it was my 1st android phone. So, I had a pretty long time searching for what I can do to this phone to bring out it's inner capabilites. One of them, is to root your phone and install ROMs inside. Since I love to customize my phone, I feel that rooting is essential for me and went ahead to root my phone. If you are considering about rooting your phone, do take note that the warranty will most probably be void

Would anything change?
Instead of creating threads that we bought this device we just spam the CyanogenMod 9 thread and annoy the developers.
It wouldn't cause more useless posts, just different ones.

I received the i9100 as a gift and I use it on T-Mobile, and it sucks to be stuck in 2G. I love this phone to bits, but I'm looking forward to an upgrade so that I can hand this down to my girlfriend since she's on AT&T.

the impatience and greed around here is unbelievable...
if you want something to be fully working and perfect, you gotta make it yourself. plus rushing things isn't gonna do any good at all. it will come, just be patient... be glad we even have a Sense 4 ROM...
Dude, seriously, it was a question. That's it. Not a complaint, not impatience, and not greed. The assumptions of others on this forum is what is really unbelievable. I knew that some joker would answer back like that.
Saranhai is part of the team that brings a lot of ROM's to this device. He is probably a little frustrated that it seems like is never good enough, or fast enough for people. Your question may have been honest and purely innocent, but with the way things have been around here lately his reaction is somewhat understandable.
Several devs are hard at work on sense 4 kernels and the camera. When they have a usable fix, it will be released. If you want to add to their resolve you could always donate

I'm patiently waiting too. And so you know, I'm posting this in a good mood, not frustrated or being smart. But from what I understand is its basically at a standstill until devs can get the necassary kernel to get the camera working. It's not that they are being slow..they simply don't have what's needed to accomplish it. And I may be entirely wrong..that's just what I have been thinking.

Take it at face value MF. It's my fault that you put your own thoughts into a simple question? Seriously, it's all too common on XDA for people to needlessly attack others on the basis that people are too sensitive.
See the answer that JJ gave? That's all that we needed. I wanted to know the issues the devs were facing? If anything I was concerned, because I've never seen something give this kind of trouble on this phone. We all appreciate the works that devs do. We all act like kids in a candy store for the work that devs do.

The issue is that there's no HTC official kernel source for any "sister" devices - DHD/DS, and they didn't get the HTC ICS update either. Without the kernel source, devs have to use kernel source from other, less compatible devices to compile the kernel, and the binary drivers from those devices don't match the HW. There are no skilled enough and/or willing enough devs to dig in the kernel code and rewrite the API towards the drivers to match the older, working drivers from Gingerbread (that's what was done back in Gingerbread release time), mostly because it's a huge work that brings almost no benefits - the official code is likely to be better anyway, and its release will most likely be closer to this point in time than the shortest time required for "enthusiast" work.

I think in layman terms, that means if someone attempted to rewrite source code to match the h/w in the Glacier, by the time they would finish, better & more compatible code would be here anyway. So its best, at this point, to just wait patiently?

I would like to just set up a thread for any word on CM13 and or any work on M based ROMs for the TMO N4. I did not see one so if there is I apologize and will take it down.
Cm13 is available unofficially for the international verison which I did flash and had bad things happen. I have heard no talk of when we are to expect it for TMO. So hopefully we can remain updated by more informed members of the XDA community.
Im dying to get a feel for it and heard the Cyanogen Team put some nice work into this as they always do.

Unofficially, there is no talk about when it will be released is because it doesn't work on our device yet. There are developers working on it as we speak, but they don't like being asked an ETA. It'll be ready when it's ready. On the flip side, simply discussing what features we'd like to see in Android M could be a nice thread to have. Devs could look here for that if they do choose and see what cherry picks people want.

Thats a good idea. And i wasnt exactly asking a eta so much....we all know how they hate that...lol. But I did just see a M system dump as well as a few posts of a member on the international side who is currently working on a TMO version. I believe he has developed some working blobs but has a bit to go.
As for features, i really dont know why we dont have multi window support for CM yet. Ive asked but never got a real answer as to why they always leave it out. For the TMO version id love to see working s-pen. But i hear they did find a way to get wifi calling to work so thats great news if true.

I'm aware you aren't, but if it's not mentioned than all the sudden the thread will get spammed with it.
As far as multi-window? CM/Slim 12.1 has something of the sort. But true multi-window is a TW only feature add it is proprietary drivers and tough to get source code on.
As long as I have my battery bar, sliding on status bar for brightness, and CM theme support, I'll be a happy little clam. The rest is just gravy. Would be awesome to have fingerprint support on an AOSP based ROM.

Its coming guys. @ZION959 has a bootable cm13 with data and everything going for t-mobile. He posted in the snapdragon note 4 thread for cm13. hasn't posted it yet to my knowledge but its a matter of time.:good:
Sidenote: holy hell i need to change my signature. havent posted in forever haha
I did see that data is now a function on the INT version of CM13. I did read that finger print is actually proposed to make it. Unsure on the legitness of that one. Im super excited to see progress now. Im just surprised that with M sources released that we see no ROMs built. I have actually attempted sitting down and doing so building. Man is it time consuming. I just took frames from a open project and did some bsic things and was frustrated. Thanks to all the people who take their time to build these things. :good:

Could be too early to tell. I would imagine devs don't want to be bothered with questions on ETA when things don't work. There's no real way of telling exactly when you make a breakthrough in coding.

Seems we may have a breakthrough. Fingers crossed.
Also, can someone withone with understanding of the process of building roms from a source like Marshmallow tell me something? If there is a system dump, say from Nexus, for M how come it is so hard to turn that into a runnable version for samsung? I know the systems are totally different and we have the TW systems, but as a AOSP source I always believed that turning that around from the code was the reason the codes were released. I started to see that was very wrong back when L hit and the massive bs these devs went thru with that. So is there a easy way to explain the process and why it is so difficult to do for us?

I'm not a coder, but I have an understanding of how this works a little. The biggest reason is hardware differences and getting the coding right to match the software (drivers) to the hardware. With AOSP, the devs have to write coding from scratch for a 'port' from a system dump from another phone. Especially one that's a different brand entirely.
That is about the best I can think to explain it. If I am totally off bass there, a dev could come in and snack me around for spreading misinformation. [emoji19]

I would love it if someone would take this over! I don't know Jack about coding but have been very happy with the kernel. Maybe one of the kernel devs could build it as a side project to their own or at least go through the code and give some feedback as to the viability of adopting it...

I guess but at this time with the nexus p there was a lot more development and more then that a lot more development Community involved. I wonder if the Verizon exclusive mixed with Google's inability to keep them in stock on the Play Store the problem.
I think I could care less this time around. I think it has enough mods. The performance on this phone is already unreal. And battery life is more than anyone could ask for
I am bored, however, understanding that an alpha TWRP, beta su, and no xposed yet to be a reasonable impediment for development. Honestly, I am really happy with what is offered so far that maybe I should focus on improving other areas of my life?

My days of crack flashing are over. Stock rooted with TWRP and Elemental kernel and I'm happy. When more custom ROM's are released I'm sure I'll try a couple but I'm not getting board with my XL. Still the best phone I have had.
Blame Google. They changed they way stuff gets flashed n stored. On previous Google devices it was super easy. The pixel isnt a developer phone but a main street device. One to lure Samsung n iPhone users away from those devices

I don't get this comment at all. So they changed things under the hood to lead people away from devices that are (in my opinion) usually used by people that don't care to mod so wouldn't know the difference between how easy or hard it is to mod or not mod..
Show me where any Nexus device was sold as a development device.
There are growing pains plain and simple. And some folks (op) need to realize these guys don't get paid and don't work at anyone's schedule but their own.
Android evolves. It has in the past and very smart people were able to figure it out then and very well may do it now.
It'll happen.
Give it time

Thing is it is a tad pretentious to complain about or suggest that the device isn't meeting expectations because people aren't putting in enough work fast enough to appease someone's desire to flash.
If someone is that impatient they should've stayed where they were and waited until the device matured a bit more.
That's my perspective on it.

Is anyone bored with their pixels? Seems development for this phone is nonexistent. I miss flashing different Roms on my Nexus 6p. Is it just too early or its going to stay this way.

Nope! It will come as soon as TWRP comes along. Cant do stuff without a solid Recovery.

I think I could care less this time around. I think it has enough mods. The performance on this phone is already unreal. And battery life is more than anyone could ask for

My days of crack flashing are over. Stock rooted with TWRP and Elemental kernel and I'm happy. When more custom ROM's are released I'm sure I'll try a couple but I'm not getting board with my XL. Still the best phone I have had.

Same here! And I love making ROMs and cleaning them up! But for now I am happy with Elemental X and stock.

Blame Google. They changed they way stuff gets flashed n stored. On previous Google devices it was super easy. The pixel isnt a developer phone but a main street device. One to lure Samsung n iPhone users away from those devices

True!

Im smart, I think? Nahhh... Im not. But if I was I would say... It has evolved like stated. Now we have to worry about slots, Kernels, recovery, etc...
Things have radically changed! Its not going to be as easy in the past. Users are bound to mess up there phones which will require more support, etc... This is for sure! Once TWRP gets 100% I will be posting...
Edit: Actually Nexus devices ARE sold as Developer devices...

Yep! Agreed 100%!
Edit: I dont want to just make a ROM with the same system image then add a script to mod it. Thats just me though... I like editing the ROM and making it user editable...
Looking forward to Clean ROM pixel XL!
