Title says it all, still waiting for release..
Asus Zenfone 2 availability in India
The Asus Zenfone 2 smartphone (4GB RAM variant) to be launched in India on 13 April and expected to be priced around 20,000 INR which puts it head on against Oneplus One and Mi4 . Interesting to see how Asus plans to tackle these well received phones
Hope pricing will be right ...
Same here. I was going to buy the OPO but decided to wait for the Zenfone 2 since the specs are simply mind-blowing.
Although, it seems we have to wait until the end of April for it to launch now. Considering the demand, I'd be surprised if I manage to get hold of it before May.
Earlier they said they will launch it by march end..Then came news that on 13th April. Now by April's end, if they postpone it further I will be buying a different phone..

And which phone would that be then?
Yu and MI4 has a heating issue
OPO is 32bit
Desire 820 .. i dont knw.. leave me wanting for little more
Honor 6 plus is way too costly for a chinnese phone.
So be a little patient and choose this. Today we need 2GB RAM for android, next year we would need minimum 3GB...

The way I see it, the Zenfone 2 (2.3 GHz, 4 GB RAM variant) is a direct competitor to the OnePlus One in specs - and beats it.
I don't see how the OpO having 32 bit hardware is an issue. Is there any tangible benefit to the 64 bit hardware on the ZF2? The OS is 32 bit, after all.

From what I have read Lollipop will leverage a 64bit OSB better. And market pushing for 64bit from now on means... upcoming games and OS both will move in this direction only. So a 32bit is definitely a generation behind although performance at par for the time being only.
EDIT:
If Asus hadn't postponed then upcoming Sunday would have been the day for getting our pockets loose.... but for now..
We wait !!
I'm more into OPO only for one reason i.e. great dev support. But Zenfone 2 excels in every other department. CONFUSED
So it's launching on the 23rd of April over here. I really want to go for the top end model but all the talk about battery drain issues is putting me off.
Now I'm not sure if I should buy it straight away at launch or wait for a few reviews first.
I'm confused with the phone models I want to know whether the 4gb ram version with 32gb rom has 2.3Ghz or 1.8Ghz in India

Guys!!! Asus Zenfone 2 coming soon on Flipkart.... Countdown has begun
m eagerly waiting, what do u guys think of price
i think 4gb model will be under 20k
Asus Zenfone 2 (ZE550ML , 2GB ram) on Ebay.in
I found Asus Zenfone 2 (ZE550ML , 2GB ram) on Ebay.in at Rs 16,500
As for the price, I think higher end model (ZE551ML) will be at around 20k... I read somewhere on net it would be around 25k but as promotional offer it would be priced at 20k...So as of now there is a lot of confusion regarding the price of the phone...

I have been waiting for the Nexus 7 2, also referred to Nexus 7.2 aka Nexus 7 HD since the rumours started.
I was very disappointed when in may it wasnot announced as expected. Almost at the end of June, we still have no confirmation
Last week, two Asus devices, the K008 and K009, were discovered listed under Bluetooth SIG and FCC certifications. Although the Asus device isn't confirmed as Google's Nexus 7 2 tablet, the coincidence is a large one. The Nexus tablet is expected to be released to the public in July, and the filing was dated to June.
This is going to be a heck of tablet with excellent features.
Latest rumours are :
Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor
2GB Ram
Android 4.3
Front 1.3 MP camera & 5MP rear camera
1080p resolution
16/32 Gb variants without SD card
LTE support would be added
Price is expected to be 200-250 US dollars.
With all this attraction and everything, I am googling at least ten times a day about new articles written about it.
Anyone has any more to say or waiting as patiently as me ?
I just want to know, is it just me or there are others like me ?
Do post your views and experiences of Nexus 7 !
Yeah im waiting too. Got my missus birthday on the 21st of July and was going to get her a Nexus 7 till i heard about the Nexus 7 2. I will be pissed if it comes out just after i buy another Nexus 7. (I already have one).

But I am waiting till end of July, I hope it is released by then or I be travelling without it .....
But my guess is that, It will be in stores before 20th July. ( America companies usually have this strategy to release it before 4th July and this is usually the deadline)

Guys!
I am thinking about Note 4 purchase, but x64 mode is very important for me. So I decided to choose 910C (Exynos) version, but unfortunately, Samsung lock this device on 32-bit mode.
Is there any chance, that Exynos Note 4 will get 64-bit mode on Android 5.0?
What you think about that:

http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg39710.html
http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg39506.html
According to this article by the renowned Exynos developer, Andreilux, it seems likely that Samsung will never update the Note 4 to run on 64-bit:
The big question is why Samsung choose to name this chip Exynos 5433 and not market it as a 64-bit chip in a new product lineup? The answer could be simply that we won't ever see the 5433 running in AArch64 mode. The chip's firmware and drivers are running on a "CAL" / Chip-Abstraction-Layer on the lowest level of the driver stacks. In fact, beyond the CPU cores (and GPU), the Exynos 5433 looks very similar to the Exynos 5430 which employs A15/A7 cores.

@AndreiLux is one of if not the most prominent kernel developer(s) on XDA. There's a bounty on the forum trying to convince him to write a kernel for the Exynos Note 4. He's the author of this article on AnandTech discussing 5433. It's pretty straight forward. 5433 is 64 bit capable but running in 32 bit mode. He's said multiple times in this thread that third parties can't get it working in 64 bit alone so it's up to Samsung. If he's saying it can't be done I'd take that over some lesser sources saying it can. Samsung's never mentioned that 5433 is 64 bit capable in any of their PR or interviews either.
To make things even more interesting, Samsung announced Exynos 7 as a future chip. Here's the official Exynos 7 B2B website.
http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/minisite/Exynos/m/solution.html#?v=7octa
Unless I'm missing it, no where on it does it mention 64 bit. Has anyone seen a press release from Samsung directly saying Exynos 7 is 64 bit? The press covering it have been saying it is but it's odd, at least from what I've found, that there's nothing saying so from Samsung. @AndreiLux can comment but Exynos 7 appears to be identical or near identical to 5433 specs wise.
Possibilities:
5422 was a near identical chip to 5420 and the former shipped with HMP enabled. We all know Samsung could have gone back and updated 5420 and didn't. So Exynos 7 could end up being an updated 5433 with 64 bit capabilities and a new model number leaving 5433 to remain 32 bit.
Exynos 7 is really 5433 with a new name and when it starts shipping under that new name will have 64 bit enabled. Samsung will via s/w update versions that shipped as 32 bit to 64 bit.
Samsung could care less about any of this knowing that the masses don't buy devices based on processor better yet the difference between HMP vs. non-HMP and 32 bit vs. 64 bit. Especially when it'll take many months for a critical mass of 64 bit Android devices to be in people's hands for app developers to start investing in coding for it. People on XDA care about this stuff; the masses not so much. How many people traded in six month old Note 3's for SGS5's simply to get HMP? Tens?
My guess is #3. Samsung will introduce 64 bit, probably with much fanfare, knowing it's not going to sell more devices but extracting PR value from it. Unless some major change in their thinking occurs the 64 bit version of 5433 will have a new model number and 5433 will die 32 bit. All just my opinion. You're all welcome to believe and debate your own. Bottom line is no one here (me included) can do anything but speculate what Samsung's future SoC product and positioning plans are and how they'll treat previously released products from an upgrade stand point.
Believe what makes you happy.

So to answer the OP, no developer can enable 64-bit.
And there are some serious doubts as to whether even Samsung will do it.
It's all up in the air and you will not get any definitive answers.

I wonder if we could get some predictions when Samsung will update Note 4 Exynos to Android 5.0. If they won't able the x64 mode at the beginning, we shouldn't expect any changes in future months. Why? Because Samsung will focus on Galaxy S6 (probably THE FIRST x64 device from Samsung), and after that we will little close to Note 5 premiere.
It's all because of marketing & PR! I hate it!

It will be January 2015, at least that's when the staged rollout is rumoured to begin. It will be relatively soon, as the S5 has already been updated and a fully working test build for the Note 4 has been shown in a video courtesy of Sammobile.

Well, I tried to use the Nexus 9 build settings that had a 64bit option set to arm64-v8a on my Exynos Note 4 running 5.0.1 Lollipop but unfortunately, I think because of us being octa-core kinda deal, it won't work. I'm waiting for the galaxy s6 to get out there so that I could use that guy's settings. After all, their processors are one and the only difference is the frequency.
how do you know the s6 is running in 64 bit mode ? it has only 3GB RAM which makes me think it is also running in 32 bit mode.

Assume that since it is confirmed that nexus 7 2012 and nexus 4 are not getting M, that the left column is confirmed to receive and the right column is confirmed not to receive. Just my guess though, I don't read Chinese.
Damn, what if Asus hasn't released 5.1.1 because they're focusing on Android M?
A man can dream
Middle column are planned. Zenfone 2 are iin there. Third column are not available for upgrade
while it would be nice that they seem to have android M down the pipeline for the zenfone 2, its also kinda worrying that the zenfone 5 wouldn't, and its only a little over a year old. That is not a very long term of support for the phone.
2nd column can upgrade
3rd column cannot confirm
lets hope for the best

To be exact, the middle column is indeed listing devices confirmed for Android M update. The right column, however, means devices not (yet) confirmed instead of confirmed not. It can be an easily overlooked grammar mistake though.

I very highly doubt they could / would do that. 5.1 is a very important iteration. These *****es are still lagging on the update. Excuse the profanity.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I think HQ is more concerned about releasing new variants than supporting their phones, as typical asian business mentality: if successful, iterate, iterate, iterate til nobody remembers what they where doing in the first place.
And I would be less worried if those variations had all the same HW so it could be easily upgradeable in the future... but nope:
Asus Zenfone Selfie (ZD551KL): Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (1.5 GHz + 1 GHz, octa-core)

From a consumer and passionate smartphone fan's perspective, I completely understand your concern, and hope that we will continue to support these devices. As an ASUS employee, I unfortunately can't comment on HQ's business plans and why they feel the variants are being produced except for that we probably won't carry every model in the US. I know it's not the answer you might be looking for, and I wish I could provide more info.

The problem here is, my dear ASUS employee, that, like the other folk said, asian companies only care for profit from sales. They sale an item, then forget about it. They, (you), dont care about customer experience, nor ethics. You only care for sale, the consumers, on the big mayority, are plan and simple dumb consumers, they don't know the real value of their money, expended on items.
ASUS is an irresponsible and anti-ethical company, who laughs in the face of the consumers. they only espect you to go and buy the next iteration. this will be my first and last buy of any ASUS product.
this is my first asus device...I m impressed with the device hardware specs but the one thing that ticks me off is that u guys have still notreleased android 5.1.1 or 5.0.x version updates fr our device....this is the time when I think I shd have waited and gotten moto g3 bcoz Motorola is super quick with its updates and has plenty of developer support too..i was never gonna root this device but various problems wit memory and battery issues forced me to install cm 12.1...see the thing is no matter how good ur hardware specs are ..if u don't give a software update frequently ..its all a waste....I have pretty much given up any hope on receiving official android m upgrade fr this phone..so I guess ill have to wait fr cm13 since its gonna come quicker, and if the software updates are gonna be this slow in future as well...this might be the last asus smartphone I m ever gonna get..so please keep ur users updated about ur plans so atlest we know u people haven't forgotten about ur older devices...To end it all up...this is probably my last asus device @ASUS_Khang....I liked the hardware but without software update its all probably crap

The grass is not greener on the other side.
With Intel dropping the Atom chips and all x86 chipsets, Does anyone know if Android N will be compatible with x86 platform? I do believe we can't rely on Asus to deliver updates since Marshmallow hasnt been officially released to Zenfone 2 devices more than a year after it was first released. Will there be a CM14 for Intel chipsets devices? Any thoughts?
Cheers.

I think we can rely only on CM team. Asus wouldn't release official MM for z2...
To be very truthful
No..it will never happen.
MM Beta stock on my zen2 4GB ram version , 1.75 GB and upwards of ram is used starting from clean install.
Heaven knows how far that would work on 2gb versions.
I think this is very hard for the development team and probably the reason why the delay to MM.
CM however , have achieved the equivalent with just over 1GB ram used.
Leave it to the CM team

Actually the MM beta on my 2GB 550 manages RAM well. Much better than stock lollipop. Usually keeps around 700-800 MB free and runs very smoothly, much like CM13.
Screenshots please ?
You on 111 beta ?
I'm on the third beta.

Mine is doing good, battery is holding up way better than any of my three previous phones (all iphones), which all seriously lost capacity after about a year. I am thinking of passing my 550 on to my daughter to replace her ZF5, which has a broken screen. ZF3 series seems over priced so considering next option at the moment - maybe a Xiaomi or a Vernee Apollo Lite, or maybe spend a bit more for a OnePlus 3 or Axon 7...

Once the 6.x gets out of beta or the Zoom kernel blobs gets merged, we should all switch to Cyanogen since those 3-5 guys cared way more than Asus. For such projects just like Linux, more users= more tests, feedback and hopefully more donations.
As a person who knew Asus since their Pentium 2 motherboards, I lost all my trust and respect to them as a company. Besides build quality, their strength had always been timely BIOS updates, good drivers. They forgot what made them stand out from rest of OEM crowd.

Android N Officially Out for Nexus devices.
zenfone 2 N, no never. Get over it, it works fine on android 5. You just want it cause you can't have it.
Actually, users deserve timely major OS upgrades, Microsoft can upgrade Windows XP to Windows 10 for free. It is OEM companies like Asus with their unneeded, childish and performance killing modifications who keeps these devices backwards. They even put a freaking antivirus from a _very_ questionable Chinese company into their ROM giving it system app status, of course compatibility issues will happen. All those stupid themes with that ugly creature, these things have a price and they & we users are paying it with outdated OS.

And I guess you just pretend to only enjoy using Android 5 because you can't have Android 6?

Why does everyone think they are entitled to free upgrades to a new OS? The phone was sold as a LP phone. There was nothing in the ads or the paperwork that came with my phone that said a free upgrade was included. The only thing Asus HAS to provide is a reasonable warranty. Everything else is a bonus on their part. This sense of entitlement is amazing.
Oh yeah, BTW, that free windows 10 upgrade? It was the first time they ever did anything like that. And it's already over. If you didn't already get it, it's gonna cost you $120 now.

You are right. Its not mandatory but is common sense. And the phone wasn t that cheape.
After all in gsmarena said "upgradable to MM"

I think the more frequent Android release cycle is simply Google pushing hard on OEM's, so that they will eventually give up with their customizations and embrace an unmodified OS.
Maintaining security patches and minor OS updates is already a job on its own, if you factor in a new major release each year, either you hire legions of coders or simply give up with heavy-handed customizations...
Which is by the way what ASUS is facing these days, IMO
Hello everyone I would like to ask if the M3 is worth buying anymore? I had the M3 in the past but it broke, so the store i bought it from gave me the money back. I loved this device and could not find any device currently available that fits my usage of a tablet more than the M3. But sadly, it was released one year ago and I dont know how long Huawei supports the device. Is there any Information of an upcoming release of the M4? Since its already is a year old, does Huawei will release the M4 soon?
Thank you!
It's worth it. You want a solid tablet the m3 is. I have the 64gb wifi model. It's pretty much the best android tablet right now. Or wait...

I know that it is really good, as I said I already had one in the past and it was a great tablet, but i am not sure if I should buy it or wait for the M4.
Is there any information about the M4 out yet?
Honestly haven't heard a thing...
No news yet of an M4. Tablets are not that popular anymore and they are not being updated as often as it was a few years ago. A 64gb tablet with 4gb or ram is not going to be obsolete anytime soon.
How is the gaming performance? I had a honor 8 and it wasnt that great, I had to used the lower resolution in order to achieve playable framerates on some games, does the M3 has the same thing?
Gaming performance is very good. I almost ran out of space installing the games I bought in time. M3 got some discounts in time making it even more appealing.
Amazon just lowered the Price of the LTE Version to 270 Euros, maybe there will be a new one soon?

The question is: is a regular sale or a sign that a new model is on the way? Maybe they present it when they release the Mate 10 on the 16th October?
I got the old M2, basically the M3 is the same thing but with less bezels.
I've been thinking of buying the M3 as well but i haven't since the specs (cpu/graphics) just isn't that great.
It wasn't even great at release or in comparison to anything more "high end" released in 2016 and 2017.
So buying that tablet in the end of 2017....? I rather just wait for the updated M4 if that will ever come.
It's a pity though, Huawei is the only one releasing tablets thats good for media and that has a ~8" screen @ 16:10 which makes the tablet much more "pocketable" then others. Something that's quite a huge deal if you carry it around a lot since it basically mean that you won't have to use an extra bag but rather can just have the entire tablet in a pocket (try that with a tablet that has a 4:3 aspect ratio.....).
My almost three year old Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 is showing signs of coming to the end of its live. I am looking for a new tablet, preferably with a widescreen ratio and stereo sound in landscape mode, so it's an entirely relevant thread to ask. Would you buy the Huawei Mediapad M3 again in 2017, or would you wait for something else?

My understanding is that the the CPU cores used in the Kirin 950 SoC of the M3 could easily trade blows with Snapdragon 820, which was the top Android smartphone CPU of 2016. The GPU side of M3 was significantly less capable, which is fine by me (I barely play games, and none on a tablet).

Yeah, the CPU is comparable to the SD820 however the GPU is not and that's sort of 50/50 for when using higher resolution screens.
One also has to note that the M3 was released in october 2016 so if there's a M4 it may be announced very soon.

I have the same hesitation because I need a tablet nowadays and at the same time, I don't want to invest in something almost obsolete. I took a final decision of waiting because Huawei is most likely busy with their Mate 10 so I HOPE they will announce it after the Mate 10 dust passes over

Keep in mind that the tablet market is so weak that a lot of manufacturers stopped announcing a new model every 12 months. The distance between the M2 (may 2015) and M3 (May 2016) announcements was something like one and a half years. I'll personally wait for the M4 because I just ordered parts to repair my Tab S.

It's sad to know that tablet market is not good as it was before. I'm still waiting desperately for the M4 and what annoys me is that I don't have an approximate date for its release because if it's too long to wait for it, I'll buy the M3 even though I'm not quite satisfied by some things in it + it has been there for a while (1+ year).
Does anyone have a guess or a clue about its announcement date? I'm guessing Dec 2017
mr too haven't heard a thing...
I'm having the same doubt as well.
I'd mostly use it for gaming.
I've read contrasting feedback regarding gaming performance on M3 (with Marshmallow).
However, I wasn't able to find info on how the tablet performs after the Nougat update.
Any idea? Thanks!
Hello everyone! Will mediapad M3 be update to Oreo 8.0? Is there any news about it?
Thank you!
I am Sorry. I found proper topic for this question.
I would say the tablet in terms of performance and hardware is great, especially the screen and speakers are far above average, and I also love the form factor and the 16:10 screen. On the other hand EMUI is probably the worst customization of Android on the market by far (I'm talking worse than touchwiz here, far worse) and it seems that we're done getting updates too, stuck on may security patch too. Honestly if I were to choose a tablet today I would spend a bit more and get a windows 10 tablet.
