Note 4 edge vzw update

My phone just downloaded an update a few mins ago at about 12:20 pm set haven't heard of anything coming for vzw anybody know what it is I haven't installed it yet

I downloaded it it was quick install it's nothing really lol. I did hear to get lollipop on Google plus with note 4 there was a small update prior to lollipop so that's my guess in the dark lol

Maybe they've never heard of the Note 4 Edge.

Thanks for finding that as well is it really necessary to take that I looked at the benefits seems unnecessary unless you have volte in your area

There is always hope that it is a prep update for Lollipop ...
I took the update earlier today and was interested in seeing how the display of the apps on the Note Edge would be changed / better / optimized / etc but haven't been able to tell any difference for me.

Looks like the Edge display no longer shows the transitionan animation when swiping from screen to screen. Also my stock KB has a new ticking kind of sound when pressing the keys.
I like the KB sound, but miss seeing the screen transitioning under the edge display. My desktop feels smaller?

video calling now enabled
No Themes
samsung pay still doesn't work, because knox was previously tripped.
Android pay works fine (because back on stock rom)
There appear to be NEW edge panels, (been 3months since i checked for panels so my just be new to me)
Did a Speed Test result were very poor 6MB Down 20MB Up Brooklyn NYC.
Also it appears you might not be able to downgrade back to a older verison of android.
Phone feel slower.

I have just updated mine. My phone was lagging very much after update. So i did a reset in Android recovery mode. And now my phone flies!

So This is T Mobile's update? Did you being any chance reset the phone and check if battery life has improved?
Also is the camera button back on the Edge Panel and how is your battery life?

How is your battery life and is the camera button back on the Edge screen?

Camera button is still on the main screen, just took my phone off the charger will update end of the day with battery usage.

I am not happy with the update. It seems to have disabled the ability to detect my wallet cover. Now when I open and close it the phone does nothing. Instead it just stays showing the screen and nothing on the edge. That is not going to help my battery life. Also, when my alarm went off this morning it didn't give me the option to dismiss the alarm through the edge panel. I had to open the cover, which it didn't recognize and dismiss it on the screen. If you really can't go back to an older version I am just going to trade the phone in and get a Note 5. I loved the Edge but if it is losing some of the best functionalities it has then it is not worth staying with it. If anyone is able to help make the adjustments, at least for the wallet cover that would be appreciated.

I did factory reset, clear everything and the phone runs significant faster. Scrolling and transition are very buttery smooth. Camera button is not back tothe edge. Battery life seems good, but I will test more about that.
It seems the ram management is fixed as well.

Got a solid 12hours of battery usage today 3 hours of screen ontime, and rerun speed test see for yourself.

Christ, they really screwed this phone. The best phone ever and they just abandoned it. I suppose it will get worse with M. Why even bother to update this device if you are gonna just gonna give us Note 4. It would be a little less dismissive if they included the new Touchwiz and its features but its just an Android update. Thanks for the input. Looks like its 4.4.4 for life. The Wallet cover (Flip OEM Case) is the best case for this phone and if it doesn't work along with an increasing castration of Edge Screen features, I'm not installing it

Ok I would really like you to list the edge features that have been stripped because I have yet to see any. The camera button was moved off the edge because there was too many complaints of people accidentally taking photos. I think it was a good adjustment, other than that the edge has always been what the edge was supposed to be, an extra screen. I love my note edge and I think it is one of the best android phones out there. The edge screen enhances the way I use my phone because I never have to leave the screen i'm on to access something different and it also cuts down on the amount of mods I need to install because the edge does a good job compensating for pie launchers and other shortcuts. The edge screen has only gotten better in my opinion

Bad idea (Note 5, S, whatever) No removable (i.e. replaceable) battery and no additional storage (sd card)

The only thing that I actually noticed was the Google messenger app I use stopped sending mms messages until I uninstalled it. I have had the update for two hours now but have not seen any battery improvements or any other changes. I don't know if there are any new apps and I did not know about the new vide feature. Speed and battery are my main worries with any new updates. I will give it 48 hours before I make a determination. If it sucks then back to kitkat it is.

Good Lord, how do you accidentally take a picture on the Edge Screen? Its literally out on the other screen. If anything , having a shutter button on the screen makes it super easy to take a picture. When I was on 5.0.1 some notifcations would pop on on screen and my poweramp lock screen would bug out. Also the android player on the edge screen would dissappear every now and then so I couldn't toggle my music on the edge screen

Im really enjoying the new MM 601 update on my S6 Edge...
This is entirely from my own Opinion, so feel free to chime in with any comments..
In the beginning.. the edge features were very limited to a Night Clock, a gimmicky multi-coloured contacts ringer and a few tickers, but now after the 601 update.. the Edge has become so much more worth it over the vanilla S6..
FINALLY, SS have included access to all apps to use on your side swipe edge.. like the Note Edge and the Edge plus..
Sleep battery life has been improved .. (although im still testing this)
Theyve removed more apps for you to add yourself.
(S6 always had this) Nice to see SS are now including MS Office apps as an option to Google Drive (OneDrive suite is far better for using it on any device)
Finally, we now have Shutter Speed (Edge Plus) and improved camera and UI features..
The 4G modem reception has been inproved, here in the UK on EE, I was getting 0 or 1 bar on 4G, now Im getting 3 - 4 bars.. which is great, but this varies from region to region, but here its better.
Sadly though, as of yesterdays edge app update 28/2.. they removed the Night Clock.. Why?- EDIT: Its in settings, not Edge, my bad
Your stuck with Yahoo news, so far I havent found away to change to another app..
Theyve removed the nice Lock screen swipe effects, not a biggy IMO, but I liked it..
So all in all, Ide say that the MM update is a great update to the S6 Edge and IMO, makes the Edge a much more attractive buy over the S6, so great work Samsung... BUT
Its took Samsung a whole year to get here, which IMO, these features shouldve been in the Edge since 511, I understand they had to make the Edge Plus
(we didnt get the Note 5 here in UK) an attractive buy as well, and obviously.. as the S6 has now been replaced by the S7, theyre giving the Edge everything..
but really SS.. a Whole Year,

Night clock freeze and dont show real time after 2 hours
When i wake up screen it show again correct hour
Is there a solution for that

Yep, I found that again after checking settings , but for some reason after installing the edge update.. the night clock wouldnt work.. I found by restarting the phone.. it was fine again..

Goto settings > Turn Night Clock OFF > restart phone > Reset your Night Clock up again...
Fixed it for me..

Agreed.. Its the first Ive ever been Impressed by a Samsung update EVER... I know when Android switched to the ART file system in Lollipop, it was a huge improvment for everyone.. but Sammy have just struggled with performance.. until now.
Plus with the likes of One Plus, Motorolla, LG and now newbies Huawei offering some better and cheaper alternatives... Samsung cant really afford to just push out half baked updates, they gotta get their game face on... and lets just hope they dont try and pull another Apple with the S7 (SD Card back and bigger battery) coz it might just cost them even more than just a few lower quarter sales like it did with the S6..

What is the status of memory consumption in MM update?

After playing with themes stuck at bootloop and after hard reset I do not have the same ui experience as before.
My device turns a little lugy....

Is it just me but the photos I took from Lollipop is much better than from the MM?
Its a little grainy when I upgraded to MM. Anyone experiencing the same thing?

after the update i dont have the option to have weather on the lockscreen, neither the steps and google now on tap doesnt seems to be present. Anyone with the same problems ? Any Fix ?

Cant say Ive noticed this.. flashed MM out of the box so..
Its supposed to be a batter camera experience all round.. I read anyway (Taken from the Edge Plus).. we now have Shutter Speed and a Kelvin (ala LG G4) for White Balance, which incidentally, they set it the wrong way round.. hehe, nice one SS. (slide it into the Blue section and the screen goes Yellow or warmer.. and vice versa), thats easily fixed though
Your right JurGGen.. No weather, although if you goto settings > Lock Screen and Security > Notifications on LockScreen .. Weather is there in the list, but maybe it only shows when theres Snow or Rain.
Theres a Weather App in the Samsung Apps Store.. Its under Updates.. ... find it under LockScreen security.,.. That might help, but dont know... Never been one for Weather on Lockscreen.

Is an S7-like Always On feature possible/available?

The S7 has a cool new feature where you can choose to always have the time displayed on your screen, along with other things like battery and stuff...
Is there anything like that for the S4? It'd really just be handy to have the time always-on, but any more is wonderful.

ambient display is as close as we get which isn't always on, just occasionally...

I wouldn't recommend it. The S4's screen wasn't designed with Always-On in mind, so it is possible that screen burns may appear due to the prolonged display of static images.

Is it possible. ..I believed that s4 and s5 screen is almost the same kind...
S5 developer has successfully ported Always-on-display (AOD) from s7 edge to s5 snapdragon version...so I think is it possible to have a s7 ported rom for s4..

With S7 apps = possible,
But, don't wish for Always On Display feature. It's insane for S4 battery life for me...

Note 9 Custom AOD
I tried the S8 and Note 8 AOD's but they wont show up on my note 9.
Anybody got advice on this?

There is this app that does it well, the only drawback is that it could lag a bit on keeping the picture even after unlocking but that was on the s8 plus. Have t seen it do it much on the note 9. Then again have not used it much.
Also if you want your picture you have to pay. But for now thos is the only one I know that has worked. Just can't say if it will lag like it did on the s8 plus or not. As mentioned picture would stay a couple of seconds more than what you would expect.

Thanks for the heads up on that app. It doesn't lag on my Note 9. It has plenty of great AOD custom pics that you don't have to pay for, but even if you want the "prime" pics, the prime app is only $3.49. Not even a cup of coffee for most people.... in other words, it's a very good value.

Yes, $3.49 is not much but just wanted to mention if you wanted a particular custom picture that is not on the app that you would like to have that would be $9.99 which is still not bad for them to put up the work on getting your picture as a AOD picture. But not everyone would need it as there are plenty that it already has and this has been for quite a long time so it has accumulated several custom pictures that everyone could use which is a plus for this app.
But yes this has worked better on the Note 9 then it did on the S8+. It was a bit laggy on my S8+. This has been a good alternative and likely would be the best one for now that does Custom AOD.

I may end up paying the $3.49 for the prime version. Don't really need custom pics done, but there are some nice prime pics I may use.
For right now I am testing it out to see if it effects battery life differently than stock AOD. There is no lag for me and I doubt anyone with a Note 9 will have lag.

I've been watching it pretty closely all day today. So far I can't see a difference from regular AOD. Watching the battery stats and seems to sip the same as stock AOD does. So far.
