SInce Greenify works with the new MOFO method, I thought it would be interesting to see how it's affecting the Turbo's already superior battery life. How much further are people getting on a single charge?
i completely forgot about that. i will let you know. may take a couple days though to really see.
I've been using greenify since owning the turbo. Without xposed, root only allows for hibernation without having to turn the screen on. Otherwise, I haven't noticed much of a difference - though it is nice not watching the screen turn on, stop processes, then turn off many times a day.

i thought without root it could not autohibernate. before root you had ot manually hit the button to close apps. at least i couldnt find a way to have it auto hibernate without root

No it can auto hibernate without root. You just have to set greenify as a device administrator - and it has to turn the screen on to stop apps. This function may require the paid version (dont remember), but not root. I think root may also allow hibernation of system apps, but even then I think that was an option without root.

does not work 100%?
My workaround was to use fast reboot pro since it stops apps without root or turning on the screen.
Haven't rooted my turbo yet (not paying for it when they give disclaimers and there was a bounty) but frp seems to save some battery plus switching to ART helps as well.
I don't think greenify will do much difference because it requires more of cpu downclocking and Governor change.

Huh? Greenify does not "downclock" or change your governor. It keeps wake locks down, and prevents apps from using battery by running when they don't need to be.

My battery barelly holds 16 hours and I have the donation package of greenify. What am I doing wrong? My Z2 battery used to hold like 18~20 hours or even more.

I am well aware of that. My lack of not seperating the sentences may have brought confusion. What I was implying, was that greenify won't do so much of a difference because to obtain legit battery improvements it requires tweaking of kernel and cpu and governors and achieve the best battery possible.

Do not be mislead to how many hours it lasts in the long run of quantity but focus on screen on time which matters most. I am not rooted whatsoever and I constantly achieve this battery life.

I see. I do think greenify does its job, and certainly helps battery life (especially in conjunction with xposed). I would, and I am sure many others would agree that it's still an effective and legitimate tool. I agree, not as much so as throttling, but that's not really what I thought this thread was about. We are unfortunately far from kernel tweaks at the moment ☺

apps not waking the cpu from deep sleep and being more efficient than a super fast cpu running more slowly and performing the tasks for longer. sounds better to me at least thats the idea behind the new job scheduler api in 5.x and greenify thats longer that all the components on the phone have to be operating and creating heat Im not an expert but my 2 cents
53?!?
Thats right, 53 hours, or around there at least. So I am using the original root image from mofo, with Greenify Donation Package installed, so I get auto hibernation, but not the system function hibernation....yet. I may be updating to an Xposed image soon, to unlock those features. I have every app possible except Carbonite Mobile (Auto Pic/Video backup/access) and TextSecure ( 3rd party SMS/MMS) set to auto-hibernate, including my 3rd party email K-9 Mail, I don't use the normal GMail app. With my current combination, normal usage inc. phone calls, texts, (mostly) web browsing or stalking the XDA app, I got a whopping ~53 hours of battery life before I had to charge at 2%. My phone is also my alarm clock. Unfortunately I forgot to take a screen shot, but I will try and duplicate it and take one.

That's intense.
Just rooted and got xposed working last night to hibernate some system apps. Excited to see how it works.
Sooooooooo..... Battery life with greenify and lux after root and disabling bloat. My location services are on high accuracy. My Bluetooth is always on with my moto 360. Wi-Fi and data are also always on. I receive all notifications. How can I ask for any better.....

Because of the moto 360 not a lot of screen time. I reply and skip music through through the watch.
So for people like me that means a lot. Just news when I'm free for screen on time.
XT1225, Kit Kat with some apps greenified and some bloat removed/frozen.

Ive been using juice plotter to check on my huge batter drain over the last few days since installing darkstone froyo v2, ive been slowly adding different apps to control the power consumption. I understand all rooted android roms have similar issues, hopefully a combination of these apps will help.
from stock darkstone froyo (ie no power control apps) i was losing 90% of battery in 7 hours. This was with wifi/gps/bluetooth off and not much usage. I also found the phone Stopping at 93% charge when plugged in. To fix this leave it plugged in and turn the phone off for 15 mins. Reboot android and It will have reached the full 100%. I think the android rom I have has issues charging on USB so I disabled the charge on USB in the settings.
Ok here are my personal findings I have on various power saving apps.
APP: JUICE PLOTTER
RATING: 4/5
BATTERY SAVED: N/A
PRICE: FREE from app store
shows a graphical chart of power consumption vs time , good for diagnosing how much extra power draw your activated features have (ie wifi, bluetooth) shows the time these features start and end at also, be it manually started or automatically.
APP: APP KILLER
RATING: 4/5
BATTERY SAVED: 30 - 60 mins on a full battery
PRICE: FREE, Pro upgrade is minimal cost from app store (gives extra features)
I set mine to aggressive killing. this improved my battery slightly, probably increased battery by about 30mins to 1 hr on a full charge. The main thing I like with this app is the automatic, set time, multiple killing of other apps. Unfortunaly i found the app killing not to permenant as some restart again a little while after. This has minimal battery save for my programs but depending what your apps/services are consuming on terms of resources, it can save much more. The auto kill stops the phone from been bogged down, it is much quicker to respond once its stopped other apps and wakes from sleep quicker. This app also shows you a list of all current running apps and services that you can quit, switch to etc. I found stock android to have this sort of task manager feature missing.
APP: SETCPU
RATING: 3.5/5
PRICE: free on XDA (donation recommended ) small price from app store.
BATTERY SAVE: about 1 hr - much Cooler running phone temp.
This app is very good as it can set you CPU speed to save battery. Mine is set to 833mhz when used, 255mhz in idle. 432mhz when the screen is off. This Saves small amounts of battery but still has a decent response and speed, also improvements on wake up from sleep. You can save more power with more conservative speeds, although your phone may be less responsive. On the flip side push up the MHz to increase speed and responsiveness of your hd2 for increased battery usage.
Upon heavy use of my phone with a high CPU speed I saw a slight battery drop with SETCPU, probably due to my CPU speed being at 1033mhz at the time.
CLEANED MY EMAIL INBOX
BATTERY SAVING: 7 hrs
I found that mobile web was constantly running on android. as I hadn't cleaned my email inbox fully a few emails from a month or so ago kept been synced to my phone to notify me. Once I deleted these My battery saved near to 7 hrs per full battery. I assume it was constantly downloading the old emails. So make sure you email account is maintained.
APP: TASKER
PRICE: just under £4. Cheaper from developers site
RATING: 4.5/5
BATTERY SAVE: 15 HRS
This is the greatest power saving app I've used.
I've set my mobile data to automatically be off. Every half hour it will turn on for 5 mins to update emails, news, weather etc. It will also enable web when I unlock the Phone. Disable web once I've turned off the screen. It also stops syncing at night so it doesn't wake me with a notification sound. This saves me an extra 15 hrs on a full battery.
One thing I'm doing next is to stop certain apps from booting until I need them. sort of a scalpel approach as apposed to app killers kill em all method.
one issue i found is the learning curve to be quite high on tasker but it wll only take 20 mins to get the hang of how to do what i did above. Hopefully the deveoper will make an easier interface but its still very good. The power saving feature of tasker is only a small part of the tasks this phone can do. It can literally Automise most tasks for your android.
Wth all these apps my battery now lasts on average for 24hrs upon normal usage, 30hrs+ on light usage (better than my win mob) and around 18 hrs on heavy usage.
Hope this helps any one looking for a decent power app. feel free to add your experience with these and oter power saving methods for android HD2
interesting thx.. so tasker is just a automater it doesn't actually stop the apps from staying open in the background or can it? thats the thing annoying me i kill all apps then i go check and i see useless apps still running in the background and i don't want to have to uninstall the apps just to disable them from running in the background. btw did u try the text to speech on incoming calls? im thinking bout purchasing it.

yeah tasker can be made to stop indivdual programs from booting rather than app killers stop em all. tasker keeps em stopped until you want to run them of course. you have to select scripts to do this tought. The program is amazing, you can auto set your phone to go silent when you walk into work, cinema etc etc by using GPS. Auto connect to car bluetooth once you get in your car, connect it for calls then stop bluetooth once you get out. Have your phone read you your messages once you have navigator on in the car, so you dont need to touch it. send an automatic sms reply to certain people, ie work collegues if your in a meeting..... its a full automisation program, the options are endless if you know what scripts to select to get it working.
I sadly can only do basic ones but in willing to learn, there are a few tutorials online for certain tasks, im just hoping the developer will release updates to make it easier for the advanced tasks.
lol ive just read this back and BTW i dont represent the developer in anyway, i only bought the app 3 days ago. I did a bit of research on it as thought it was a bit expensive and im glad i did buy it, it depends what functionality you want with your phone i suppose. I bought it as it cures my power options and i can taunt my mates who have iphones (i received a lot of stick when it had winmob on as the main as it kept having issues and wasnt very fun for me to use).

great thx.. yeah ive been trying to find a good app that would help make things a bit easier especially when driving and reading txt messages is a plus, if u recieve calls does tasker say aloud the caller name while the ringtone is still ringing or does it replace the ringer? ive had issues with other speech announcers.

Im not sure in all honestly, ive not really got around to looking into other tasks apart from battery power saving ones. ive read a few of the posts on the developers website forum and he seems very good and swift at answering questions on the apps features. He also has a suggestion page for users to add stuff. Its one of the reasons that swayed me into buying it as hes clearly spent a lot of time on the development of the app, is very active on his site and seems update the app with newer features. His site link is on marketplace with his app.
Update; I've just checked my battery as I left if off charge last night. It was 48% when I went to sleep its now 40%. This averages at 1% per hour!!! Battery usage has now increased that I'm using it.
How do you setup your tasker? I got it but have no idea how to use...

Hi All,
Running CM7.0.3.1 with Savaged-Zen 2.1.0 BFS kernel. Also using v1 of viperboy's undervolting at -100. There was a time I had stellar battery life (back on an early CM7 nightly and a way earlier version of SZ kernel), but for the life of me I cannot get back to that point. I've been checking spare parts and it is showing k9 and palmary weather with some partial wakelock but it doesn't look too severe from what I can tell, or maybe I'm reading it wrong.
Anyway, here's a view of my battery history. Does all that awake time seem odd? I'm kind of at a loss here for what is going on and how to fix it.
Thanks!

this question should be address in the cyanogen sub-forum. there are literally people there with the same setup as you that can better help you.
I wasn't aware there was a sub-forum dedicated to CM ?
There is a CyanogenMod forum thread in the development forum and one for the nightlys in the general forum.

That doesn't look like a wake lock to me. Your history shows your phone being asleep most of the time. I would guess that that is an app or apps that are using too much data or cpu time. Use spare parts to check app usage, partial wake lock, ect. Make sure you don't have facebook, twitter, ect set to update every 5 mins.

What criteria have to be met for the phone to actually sleep? Does it sleep immediately when the screen is off? The only apps that auto update are palmary weather (2 hours) and k9 email which gets imap push.
The way I understand it, an app can request a wake lock which prevents the phone from sleeping. This can be normal for certain functions, however sometimes the app won't release the wake lock and that's when the battery drains constantly even with the screen off. Spare parts will tell you everything you need to know to find the battery drain.

Thank you, that is very helpful. Here's where I am now:
On battery 2h16m and I'm at 91%.
On spare parts under partial wake usage:
Android System - 38m23s
k-9 mail - 10m1s
Those are the two highest. The other entries are negligible.
CPU Usage:
k-9 - user time - 24s
Everything else is way under 24s
So you think K-9 is a big contender here? How about whatever android system has going on?
How much of that 2 hours have you had the screen on and doing stuff? Android system has been on for almost half of the time since you unplugged. That sounds high. I would do a full wipe and reflash the ROM or try a CFS build of savagezen. A reboot usually stops the battery drain if you catch it.

Hardly any. Been just letting it sit with the screen off, letting it discharge.
Thank you again for your help!
Yeah you've a problem with android service. I would first try another kernel maybe CFS this time. If that doesn't help I would completely wipe everything and flash again. If you use titanium to restore your apps, only restore the purchased apps, not the system apps and data.

Woke up today with about the same rate of battery drain. This time, it didn't look like an android system problem at all, so know knows?! So frustrating.
I still may do a complete wipe though.
You're not alone..My battery sucks and I even bought 2 new batterys and its all the same..I just carry an extra around with me..I got tired of monitoring everything.
Ayo mates.
So who doesn't have battery problems? Probably everyone has. Even if you don't you'd want more ? huh ?
So after owning the phone for almost 3 months I had serious variations in battery life from 10 hours screen on to 7 hours screen on (*cough* 4.1.2) and back to 10 hours with xxdmb6 (YEAH!)
Also the screen off consumption.
So I am gonna talk about wakelocks in this thread. So what can use battery when you aren't using your phone... can also use the battery when you are using it. So fixes or possible fixes should improve the total battery life as well.
This thread is divided into 3 parts - basic tips , wakelock fixes and advanced fixes.
Install BetterBatteryStats. This is gonna monitor the wakelocks and the elements that drain the battery.
Tip 1 - (Install CurrentWidget) If you keep charging the battery even after it has reached 100% you will see that the battery continues to accept charge. This is true. If you charge the battery till it stops accepting power(by monitoring it through currentwidget) you will see that 100% lasts for a long time. i mean that suppose your phone uses 1% battery per 10 minutes, now if you just unplug and start using the phone, it will stay at 100% for a long time.
But this may even damage your battery. I am not sure. I do it considering how much technology has advanced.
Tip 2 - So from wanam's thread -
wanam said:
Disable auto sync for accounts if you don't need it
Disable GPS (and wifi gps) when not in use
Disable auto backup of Google account
Set brightness level to automatic
Disable motion if you don't use it
Check your apps settings and disable useless background sync
Disable useless animations

List of general Wakelocks -
PowerManagerService - It is a sum up of partial wakelocks.
MultiPDP - This indicates a high network usage(2g/3g/4g).
AlarmManager -
AlarmManager provides access to the system alarm services. These allow you to schedule an application to be run at some point in the future. When an alarm goes off, the Intent that had been registered for it is broadcast by the system, automatically starting the target application if it is not already running. Registered alarms are retained while the device is asleep (and can optionally wake the device up if they go off during that time), but will be cleared if it is turned off and rebooted. The Alarm Manager holds a CPU wake lock as long as the alarm receiver's onReceive() method is executing. This guarantees that the phone will not sleep until you have finished handling the broadcast.

These are the findings of asksven, so have been quoted. So it is a sum up of different wakelocks again
AudioOut_2 - When apps run in the background that use sounds, this wakelock is always there.
deleted_wake_locks - A wakelock that is no more, generally when you turn wifi or data or gps on and off. But it still reflects wifi wakelock. You can sum it up as a wifi wakelock and some other wakelocks.
network-location - This is a gps wakelock.
wlan_rx - Wifi wakelock
wlan_wake - Wifi wakelock
mediaserver - when something uses media files or may even when you play heavy games like real racing 3 which uses data on internal sd card
l2_hsic - A possible explanation is unplugging the charger while phone is asleep.
I have attached a pic. You can see the difference
Wakelock Fixes
AudioOut_2 - AudioOut_2 is a major wakelock on many devices. The solution is simple. Before turning the screen off. remove all recent apps and in task manager , go to ram tab and hit clear memory. Then close task manager and swipe it away from recent apps as well. Then lock the phone. Alternatively you can download advanced task killer. (Viber seems to cause this on many devices.)
MediaServer - Flash the attached fix via a custom recovery. Someone posted this and said that he got from alliance rom ota app. I asked the Dev and he said that I can use it but it may cause a boot loop. So keep nandroid a ready. Credits go to comnam90.
Other fixes could be to download Rescan Media Root. This app fixes wakelock but it might still come up sometime.
If you are comfortable with decompiling try this.
l2_hsic - This wakelock is incorrigible. But possible fixes are in thread. I will jot down what works for me.
NetworkLocation/SignalCollector Hierarchy - Many wakelocks happen due to this maps app. This is because maps app try to update the location of the device. Modify the settings according to the image attached. But better is to disable all location services. This will also decrease AlarmManager wakelock.
But if you really don't use maps then best is to Freeze local app, maps app, navigation app. This wouldn't harm the phone as they can also be downloaded from play store which means android os can cope without it.
Processes - There are many user apps which are a necessity but eat up the battery. We can't freeze it nor uninstall it due to the need. What can we do about 'em ? This is where Greenify comes in. Don't let the uber simple UI fool you. The app is simple and self explanatory. I have greenified almost all the apps and this app doesn't eat up your battery !
I will be adding more as I find more...
Advanced Fixes
These aren't very advanced if you know what you are doing.
Try another kernel. (like perseus, uneak, redpill). I find almost similar results but it may vary as we move to the next parts
Undervolt(CPU). Believe me it will help. You should start off by reducing each voltage by 25m for each step. This requires a custom kernel and a compatible app. STweaks for redpill or perseus or uNeak Engine for uneak kernel.
Do stress tests after reducing value. It is recommended not to go below 800mV.
Thanks!
One of the best things I did to save battery is to remove Facebook and Viber.
Now I'm trying to Greenify Facebook. I hope it will not do any wake locks.
Nice article Utkarsh.
Those are general wakelocks, but there are others as well, like in the attached pic.

Well that will probably fix media server. It did for me but I will see if it comes up again.

Well you gotta try hampering with update settings. I am a student and not in business so email delay is not gonna hurt me at all.
It would hurt business men(that's what I derive of you) or someone whose most work is done through mails.
Nice thread, but I'd like to chime in that wakelocks aren't necessarily an absolute evil. You will always have some wakelocks, and it's supposed to be that way. Network, wifi, location services and some apps won't work properly without being able to wake the phone from time to time. It's when these wakelocks sum up to a considerable ratio of your uptime that you should begin to worry.
Might I also suggest you add greenify to your list of countermeasures.

It is recommended not to go below 900mV.

Hi, just one question, why not go below 900mV? Is there any reason for that? I´ve got my Note 2 uVd to these values (762, 775, 800, 825, 850, 875, 925, 950, 1000, 1050, 1075, 1125, 1150, 1175, 1250) for the frequencies from 200Mhz to 1600Mhz, I don´t think it wil harm it as I´ve been running these settings with RedPill Kernel and STweaks app for a couple of months now and I haven´t had any freezes at all or any issues, could you explain why it´s not recommended to go below 900mV? Is it just for the different tolerance to uV every chip has? Thank you anyway for your marvelous post and for the greenify app, looks promising, I´ll report how it goes since I´ve just started using it today, thanks.

Audio out 2 for me has been causing an annoying battery drain. Turns out viber is causing it for me. Yesterday it was the best part of two hours.
Today I quarantined viber and my audio out 2 dropped to 6 seconds after the phone being on for 6 hours. Half an hour ago I re started viber and my wakelock now reads 22 minutes. So I have now uninstalled viber.
How this info helps others.

I have seen all across the web posts about the disappointment in the battery life of the Nexus 6. I have to say why not, because with a 3300 MAH battery we expect more than 2 hours of on screen time. Which seems to be the normal accomplishment across the device. I have actually been able to achieve 4-5 hours of SOT on a regular basis! I haven't seen many guides on how to do so. I have only seen people bragging about it. So, I decided to post this information for those of you looking for some guidance. Hoping maybe for a sticky
1. First, you're going to want to be rooted.
If you do not know how to root or are not sure how to go about it you can use the Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit which is located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/development/toolkit-wugs-nexus-root-toolkit-v1-9-8-t2947452
2. You're going to want to download Greenify. If you don't have it, it can be found here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify&hl=en it is free. The pay version does have more to offer though.
Hibernate every service that typically runs in the background when not used (Example: Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Snapchat, Ebay, basically any notification based app). In addition, leave a widget on your home screen for hibernating the apps and going to the lockscreen. When you're done with your phone you can hit this. This will save battery when you're not using the phone.
3. Have Titanium backup installed (pro version) which consists of the free version + pro key. You can find them in the Google play store.. Free version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&hl=en Pay key: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackupPro&hl=en.
Freeze any applications which you do not use. (Ex: Cloud Print, DMService, Docs, Google Earth, Google Fit, Google books, music, Maps, etc...)
4. Have Disable Service installed. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice&hl=en
This one is a KEY in getting better battery life. I was not able to get GREAT on screen time until disabling services with the Disable Service app. I have attached pictures of which services you want to disable in regards to "Google play services" which tend to be a HUGE battery drain on the device. Disabling these I notice no issue with the device everything works properly.
5. Keep WI-FI on whenever possible
6. Use battery saver mode whenever possible.
7. Get rid of Google launcher (freeze it in titanium backup) and use an alternate launcher such as Nova, Apex, etc... For some reason the Google launcher seems to be a huge battery drain.
8. Don't use unnecessary services like the Google hot word detection. I have to admit this one is hard because I love just saying "Ok Google" and then telling it what I want to search. But is it really that hard to just hit the microphone on the Google search?
9. If you are a Facebook user: Set the application to NEVER check for an update unless you open the application. Same with Facebook Messenger.
10. Use adaptive brightness or leave brightness at the lowest setting.
By doing this I was in fact able to achieve 5 hours on screen time. I hope this helps someone. Also, if you're a HUGE gamer on your phone. It is very important to realize you're never going to get that kind of on screen time.
Pictures of which services to disable within Disable Service are below: :good:
So basically turn off every function on the phone. So now it's a dumb phone with a big screen.

Not really it's still a fully functional phone. Again this is if you want more battery life. Like any other device if you want full features, then you're going to jeopardize more battery. Pretty much common sense.
1) Rooting the device is complete overkill
2) Greenify has non-root functionality
3) Why not use Android's built in Disable feature. Most of those apps aren't going to just be running anyway. Freezing them is pointless
4) This is a can of worms that is going to have unforeseen consequences. Unless you know exactly what everyone of these services does and how they interact with each other and the OS, I wouldn't touch them
5) Good advice
6) The absolute best advice you've given. I'd suggest creating a Battery Saver settings shortcut on your homescreen and toggle on/off as necessary
7) Just install another launcher and set it as default
8) This is fine advice and is a matter of personal preference
9) Good advice
10) Adaptive brightness likely uses quite a bit of battery as it has to determine ambient lighting. Just set the lowest brightness level you can live with.

I personally don't like the devices build in disable features because I've seen them still hog battery even though they claim they are "disabled" I suggested root because of using titanium backup which needs root as well. Again it's just personal preference. Not sure why you saying freezing apps is pointless. It accomplishes the same thing as disabling them

this. these threads amuse me whenever they pop up for each new device. turn off everything and like magic you have a phone that lasts days. this is stupid. i have every feature turned on my N6 at all times with auto brightness and can make it through the day just fine. on days when i use gmaps navigation i may have to quickcharge it for 20 min or so but that's pretty much it. just live your life and use your phone man. best advice i can give...
oh one more thing. facebook app is a notorious battery hog. here's some real advice: ditch it and just use the web portal. MUCH better...
funny, i keep most everything enabled and still get from 5.5-6.5 hours sot. nor do i ever turn on or use wifi. only lte here.

who said anything about being stock? even though i had the same battery life when i was on stock. being stock or custom rom doesnt matter anyways. its about how i have my phone and cpu set up, what apps i install, and about my phone/data signal quality. and yes, im a heavy user, not at all a light user. but i do not game very much, mostly a browser user.

i run rastapop or terminus(with either elementalx or franco kernel), at 3033mhz/300mhz(ondemand/deadline or conservative/deadline for franco) with all 4 cores on all the time(no hotplugging). mpdecision always disabled. i never use the default kernels settings, and always set up my cpu my way. but i live in nyc, with great tmobile coverage. battery life has much to do with the quality of coverage that you get btw.

yea i dunno why people try to call 'bs' on these things. i float during the day between everything disabled or stream and hog data at will. it takes like 10 seconds to cycle between the 2 'modes' and i like to test this things limits. i have turned in a 10 hour SOT before and rubbed it in my buddys iPhace, but that was a bizarre one. 5+ is the cellar. 6 is common. 7 is great. 8 is a chore.
leank is mostly why uc/uv, pure 3.98 stripped some w nano gapps and ones i choose, dark theme
edit: i meant to add: there are differences in hardware that MAY result in differences as well
i feel that the huge difference is network quality, for some, no matter what they do, they cant go over 4h sot. i think this is where network quality comes in. also, screen brightness is very important. keep it as low as you can, lol.
One thing I'm noticing is how much the Turbo charger affects battery life. I have a Nokia Qi wireless charger built into my nightstand that I typically use for charging my Qi devices at night. I only recently started using QC2.0 chargers in the car and next to that same nightstand and have seen much better results already. My 6 is trending to hit about 5.5 hours of SoT today whereas 4 was the norm previously.
I've noticed this phone has hit or miss battery life depending on what you have installed, greenified and frozen. I thought it would be a good idea to create a thread where everyone could share their battery life tips and tricks on this phone.
Below I posted what I have done to maximize battery life. I have not rooted my phone yet, so none of the below tips require root.
I disabled all bloatware apps that came with the phone. I did not disable any of the Asus applications.
I utilize the Asus autostart manger and denied auto start to all my applications except music applications, messenger applications, and google photo sync.
battery sucks. drain to much.
Just use until you have 5% free battery, this should make at least your day
With Android OS taking so much thanks to lollipop, there is not a lot to hope.
We wont see a good battery improvement until we get 5.1
Luckily, that is in the future for this device acc. to Asus.
Since the issue seems to primarily be Android os draining the battery I don't think most battery saving measures will make a difference. We will just have to wait for an update
When I was looking at the phone reviews people were claiming 8 hours screen on time, I can barely get 2 hours screen on time.
The problem I'm having is that the phone never goes to sleep and is constantly awake. Has anyone else seen this issue?

I'm on 2.18.40.12 (ZE551ML of course), I restored the phone from backup & restore in settings (It may take 30 minutes or more). Before restoring I had 45+% of Android OS during the night, now 20% more or less, but, as said, also in BBS I can see deepsleep in frequencies.
Someone posted on Zentalk to turn off remote lock and scan for security threats in google settings. Not sure if it helps or not.

Glad you solved, but don't know why, maybe they are working hard on the firmware and there are lot of changes that can cause problem, maybe we have to wipe after every update, Intel processor and Lollipop are so unstable right now!

Ok so this is my battery with a normal day of use... Tomorrow ill show the results with your sugestions. My normal days have gsm calls(normal phone calls) whasapp (chat) youtube, twich, game like plant vs zombies 2, look at gmail, surfing internet, taking pics like 25 today.
I notice that battery drains a lot more while photo app open.
I use doble sim as you can see
If you want to test app battery drain, try GSAM Battery Monitor, or for some extra functionality the Pro version. Also very useful to determine what is causing wakelocks when you run into them.

Everyone is always wondering about Android using the most battery. Without doing some in depth debugging and tracing I would guess Houdini falls under Android. Because the ZenFone 2 uses the Intel processor a binary conversion for ARM instructions takes place with Houdini. More than likely you have a lot of apps native for ARM.
Force closing asus support app and zenui services app from apps setting gives me good amount of battery boost. Apart I have also disabled google books, movies, plus etc. I don't know if its placebo effect but someone can try and confirm. These app tend to restart at times so if you feel the battery decreasing at high rates again, make sure you force close them again.
Roughly speaking, I tend to get 3-5 min per percentage of screen on time with this which totals to 5 to 6 hrs on SOT on continous usage. Without the apps being force closed, I barely get 2min/%. The usage scenarios are normal web browsing, chats etc. This is using mobile data. It gets even better with wifi.
Try and let me know if this helps.
Maybe I don't use my phone as much as other people. I posted this last night on another forum. My phone was unplugged at 07:00, It's now 21:00. I have 80% battery left and the battery monitor shows 3 days left
I have received email, 3 phone calls and text messages. I checked Twitter a couple of times with the browser. I have read Google News a couple of times and played GSN Casino for about 20 minutes.
In Auto Start Manager I turned off Docs, Sheets, Skype, Slides, Translate, Amazon Kindle, Data Transfer and Web Storage. Everything else is Allow, but I have no social networking applications installed.
Its looks like battery life is a right mixed bag. At the start of the week I was suffering wake lock issue, my phone wouldn't go into deep sleep and was constantly awake. I wiped and restored from backup which seams to fix the issue.
Got up this morning and it looks like the wake lock issue is back. I don't know what to do to fix it.
Feel like giving up on the phone and sending it back if I can
