[Q] After Rooting note 4 its dead ? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
This is my first post. I have had Note 4 international for 2 months now and have done a root using Samsung Galaxy Tool kit which worked fine.
Few days ago, I update the phone updated which unrooted the phone so decided to root the phone again last night.
It went through fine and the phone was working. I was able to use all the apps and make calls. This morning after making a call, I put the phone on the desk, after 10 minutes, the phone was dead. I couldn't turn it on.
Battery was fully charged. when I press the power button, there is no action..
I have tried vol up + home button + power but it doesn't work.
I have looked at other forums but no real answer to the problem.
I was going to flash the phone with original stock rom using Odin, not sure if it will.work
Please advice there is any other solution to this.
Thanks

U havent tried take battery of ur phone?

Try power home vol down. My Note 4 is only restarting after for example a freeze using the key combination for download mode. It's not rebooting with just longpress home or the key combo for recovery. Your phone has a classic SOD i guess and needs just a reboot done as described. Use charger. Maybe it's already out of power.

[Q] Please help! Phone is inbetween soft and hard brick!

Hey guys,
This is my first time posting, although I am constantly on the forums looking for help and ROMS. Its been about 4 months since the last ROM I downloaded for my phone. Its actually been 4 months since I did anything to my phone. I found a ROM that worked and kept with it. I have a sprint galaxy s4. fyi.
But yesterday while I was in the middle of texting on my phone it randomly shut off. When I tried to turn it back on nothing happened. Then I pulled the battery out and it rebooted showing the Samsung Galaxy S4 screen for about 3 seconds and then shut off again. I tried another working battery and still nothing. So then I pulled the battery out and try to get into the bootloader (holding down the volume up button). It said it was going into the recovery but then shut off about 3 seconds in. So then I tried holding down the volume down, home, and power button which allowed me to go to the OEM(I don't know if that's the correct term but it was a warning about tampering with the software) So I pressed volume up to continue and it immediately shut off again.
I cant get passed anything for about 5 seconds in without it shutting off. It's extremely frustrating and annoying that I literally cannot do anything with it.
Any sort of help or input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much in advance!

Make sure you have a well charged battery. Once this happened to me the phone was running hot and the little charge it had was wasted trying to get it to download mode. also having it connected to a computer/power outlet sometimes messes with the boot up. The timing of when you press the buttons also affects the loading. as soon as you see hte Galaxy S4 logo let go of the buttons. Hope this helps/.

I tried 2 different batteries, I also tried having it plugged into the computer, charger, anything. I've also tried different timing on the buttons appreciate the response though. I'm going to keep trying the timing of it.
Anyone have any other suggestions?
Sounds to me like it can be a defective power button which Samsung is notorious of making on their devices.

Hey BIGSAMDA1ST....thank you so much I looked at it more closely and it seems like the button half of the button is jammed up in there.
Hopefully that's what was causing the problems. ?
Same probleme here (also since yesterday)
Could you solve the problem? I had the same problem yesterday. Galaxy S4 with CM 11. Suddendly the phone rebooted and it just came to life for about 3-4 seconds after taking the battery out and in again. After a few tries it booted coorectly again. But today the same thing happened and now it's dead for about 3 hours. Now I am going to buy an external charger and try to load the battery to 100 %. I also disassembled the phoine and checked the powerbutton for functionality.
Yeah that was not the problem. lol I'm sending it to an outside company due to the face that its not under any warranty. I'm saying its bricked lol

[Q] Rooted phone doesn't boot

- I saw the Android L dev preview ported over to the nexus 4, so i decided to root my phone.
- Here is what i did at first I downloaded an app and did a one click root it did work but being a novice I also wanted to have a custom recovery without any hassle.
- So I downloaded Wugs Nexus root toolkit and firstly I undid the previous root, then using this program I re-rooted and installed a custom recovery.
- I went on to install "L-Mako-b5-bunny-stew-and-kool-aid.zip" at first my playstore wouldn't work and I was getting a persistent error (error 920) so I reinstalled the rom and it started working.
- So here I am thinking I'm done and there aren't any other problems left to fix.
- Last night I went to sleep while my phone battery was at 3%, I think it fully drained and now it won't boot or even charge. Have I hard bricked my phone and what can I do to fix this?
thanks, please help me!
Edit: I've also charged the phone for
- 1 hour
-Over night
- There is no response while charging, holding power, holding power & vol down, connecting to computer gives nothing
I might have messed up big time?

I bought it 2nd hand from Cex (second hand retailer in UK). Luckily I still had 2 months of warranty left so they've taken it in for repairs. I don't know if they'll find out it's hard bricked (if it is), or not.
Unfortunately happened to me, too, yesterday, while rebooted my Nexus 4. It doesn't boot. The LED blink once, red, and nothing. The worst thing is it's the Service page from LG Romania website "is not available". Now I'm digging the web to find a solution
okay guys screw CeX (second hand UK retailer with 1 year warranty on ALL electronics). I took my supposed dead nexus 4 to them and the guy took it in for repairs (I'm 2 months from the end of my warranty). So they take it in and I go in 2 weeks later as they haven't updated me on the progress.
Get into the store and the guy pulls my phone out. He says because it has a crack on the back they can't book it in for repairs. I ask him why did they take it in if it wasn't going to be booked in, his reply, well its obvious no one would fix a phone with a crack in it! This guy was the goddamn manager.
So since about 2/3 weeks my phone's been dead I haven't touched it. I'll try again tomorrow but hopefully it will start working. Wish me luck.
And is it possible to hardbrick a phone because its battery dies out AND the ROM/Bootloader can't allow the device to charge?

i9500 boot loop

Hello,
I had been using my i9500 for quite a while now, with no issues.
rooted, Hassan rom , Philz Kernel, worked flawlessly until yesterday.
suddenly my phone started rebooting indefinitely, not entering recovery or download modes.
I tried mashing the buttons a little, and i got to the download mode "Warning" screen (unable to go any further) without holding my power button - meaning only by holding both home and volDown keys.
anyway, this lead me to believe my power button is malfunctioning, yet i can still normally press it (Clicking as usual, as if there is no physical damage) and I did not drop or damage my phone in any way.
all of the online threads are regarding phones stuck on boot animation, yet mine is flashing the "Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9500" white over black screen (before the boot animation) and doesnt reach boot animation.
i want to believe my data is still reachable as i have not made any backups lately, this is why I came here.
if anyone has encountered any similar issue, please shed some light as this is the first time i had been unable to solve a "boot loop".
thanks in advance!
(ps, phone is still stuck on the loop, i let it keep doing so overnight to let the battery die, plugged it back in to no avail)

Hi mate
I sounds a lot like a power button problem , symptoms are similar to other cases , even if power button clicks does not mean is working .... take it to a local service center a have it replace.
Data should be fine.

Great mate.
Good luck
My GT-i9500 just started this same issue less than an hour ago.
I have taken the battery out and I am hoping this will help. Since I never turn the phone off the power button doesn't get used that much. At the most it might get used once a month.
Well I am not sure if this was the reason for it working but I put the battery back in and rocked the power button back and forth. Now its booted properly. Will keep and eye on it, just a pity it would give issues a few days before Christmas. Repair centers won't be open until early Jan.

While waiting for the lab to open (sunday) i started flicking my phone a little more violently (upon the acceptable amount of strength), and now i made it boot (!!!).
the current status is the power button is not working, i am carefully navigating to titanium backup... hope i can get a Nand backup aswell, but that's just being greedy. thank god for Philz touch recovery (no power no love on recovery)
Hello mate...
I am using same I9500...i faced same problem wayback in august...phone ws starting indefinitely without even pressing power button. ..so i searched net..
No recovery mode ws accessible to me...couldn't flash....
So i went to Samsung care..
They told i will have to change my PBA meaning passive board assembly. .
Had no other options. .
Spent 9600 on my i9500.

Bricked Le Pro 3 727 (Blue Screen of Death)

Hello friends,
My LeEco Le Pro3 (727) bricked two days ago and I haven't had any luck turning it back on. It was running LineageOS 8.1 latest official build with an unlocked bootloader, Magisk 16.0, TWRP 3.2.1, and OpenGapps ARM64 8.1 nano. Immediately prior to bricking I was setting it up for bluetooth with my car and was trying to run Google Maps through voice command. As I directed Google Maps to take me to a location, the phone froze, the screen got all "fuzzy" and I got the dreaded blue screen of death.
From that point on I have not been able to turn the phone back on. When I press the power button it will vibrate every 5-10 seconds as though it will turn on but it never does. Ive tried everything I can think of to get to work again including:
- Pressing power button for 2 min, 5 mins, 10 mins
- Pressing power button + vol up (recovery) for 2 min, 5 mins, 10 mins
- Pressing power button + vol down (fastboot) for 2 min, 5 mins, 10 mins
- Pressing power button + vol up + vol down (QFIL MODE) -> Installing Qualcomm driver, downloading "FlashOne2.0", flashing all versions of "qfil files" that I could find but still unable to boot up
- Pressing all different button combinations while plugged in to computer/charger
- Using different cords/chargers/usb ports
- Leaving it to charge overnight/full day then trying to boot up
- Leaving it sitting not charging for a full day then trying to boot up
At this point I'm starting to think it might be a hardware issue but who knows..
Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Where did you buy it from.
I don't have much to add here it seems like you have done everything that you could
Let's clear this up no fashboot right.
Only one thing to try hold power down then plug in USB.

My one did the same, the issue was motherboard. You should send it back to repair.

Thank you for the reply.
It was purchased from a local retailer here in the United States through Google Express. Fortunately I should still be able to return it for a full refund but I would rather have a working phone than my money back.
No flashboot either. It's like the phone just decided to quit working one day. Tried holding power while plugging in USB as well and no change.

The conclusion I'm reaching at this point too. I'll see what the return policy.
Well if it will not turn on it is hardware issue you should be able to return it.

That is so strange. The screen going fuzzy like that is indicative of a hardware issue, IMO. I saw that on my laptop once, but that was because I hit the screen too hard. Never seen a BSOD on an Android device before. TIL.
I assume you've already tried an adb logcat. Were you using the original LeEco cable? I heard it has issues since it's not up to spec. 99% hardware failure, but I can't help but think it has something to do with driver communication confusing the device and causing hardware failure (?) if that's even possible.
Just a final update for those curious.
After leaving the phone alone for two days I plugged it into the charger and low and behold it started vibrating and booted up by itself. It was running a Chinese developers editions 720 rom due to the QFIL File I had flashed in my earlier in my attempt to fix it. Battery was drained so I let it charge for a while and everything was fine until I attempted to restart the phone. As the boot animation was loading, I got the blue screen of death for a second time.
I took a quick picture, the phone shut off itself off, and same as before it wouldn't boot again. As other users have suggested it appears to be a hardware issue, likely with the motherboard. Fortunately I was still able to return the phone (purchased through Google Express via a local retailer) and received a full refund. I've since bought another Le Pro3 (727) and hopefully when that one comes in, it won't have any issues.
Thanks to all the users who left suggestions/tips.

You bought the same phone again? :good: You're courageous, lol.
i been experiencing the exact problem like your on my x720, as i boot up the system or enterting the recovery mode the screen go fuzzy on loading screen and shut itself off completly, i can still able access fastboot. As i left it for a while the phone will be able to almost finish the boot then ending it all with a blue screen.
Have anyone found a way to fix this DIY since my phone has past the guarantee plan ?

[stuck]help needed asap

I ran into a situation where I got my phone reset and it got into a bootloop. No probs I thought but I realized the long press power button doesn't work and I'm LITERALLY STUCK in bootloop. Phone is hot like hell.Need some tips ASAP.
Little bit of history:
Running alexis 3.0 rom with nx kernel, xposed with xposed edge, bixby remapped
Went down to 0 charge, put my phone to charge and turned it on
Buttons just wasn't working,neither power/volumes/bixby.Nothing
I rebooted to recovery with app, power button worked there so I supposed no big probs
The stupid idea came to format data, cache in twrp and check if the buttons work after that
That's when it got stuck and now I'm sitting here desperately trying to do something but power button just not working, phone's hot, trying to cool it off
The battery went up for 4% so my last ultimate hope is to discharge in the near future, hopefully asap

I have had this issue on my s8 where it got stuck in bootloop/samsung logo and holdimg the power button did nothing.
Holding the power button and volume down button for a few seconds or until it reboots seems to force reboot on my phone . From there you can let it start normally or go into recovery/download mode.
Hopefully this might work on your phone.

Thanks mate! I've just figured it out yesterday and phone is good now. Seems like the three-button combination is the always-working hard reboot.
