I'll just leave this here: http://www.phonearena.com/news/LG-s...ollipop-updates-for-its-G-Pad-tablets_id67532
Looking at the google-translated source, 8.3 Lollipop update is slated for mid-April in Korea, and hopefully soon after the rest of the world. [emoji106]
Nice. Thanks for sharing. I know we have the Thanks button too but thought that deserved an actual reply, too. ? Stock LG Lollipop is so smooth on my Verizon G3, looking forward to ART on my VK810.4G.

Are you talking about ART on KitKat? ART on Lollipop is "final"; ART on KitKat wasn't final - it wasn't on it's official implementation which is why they left it up to the user whether to turn it on or keep it off, and it was defaulted to off. It was very unstable on my LG G3 VS985. That all said, no, Verizon or LG kept the ART option out of the VK810.4G variant of the G Pad 8.3, at least on the latest build 23A.
What variant do you have? Nice that it works well for you on KitKat!

Yes, I forgot that ART was not default in KK. I used it from day 1 on the N5 and it was so solid.
I have the V500 running firmware 20D. No problems with ART from what I can see. Great performance and battery also. :highfive:

Ah, I see! The difference must be ART on AOSP KitKat versus ART on OEM (LG) KitKat; that's likely it works crappy for some.

I get a feeling its something to do with one of the LG apps having ART issues. Maybe thats why ART is availible on the V500, but not availible on the LG G2
This is surprising news, I thought we would be left in the cold with LG only offering support to the newer crap-tablets. Looking forward to it. The V500 is by far the best tablet I have ever owned, aosp rocks and so does stock. The stock KK build 20d is nearly perfect, I hope they do a good job with LP. I just hope we can get root easily on it, and that the existing bootloader/twrp combos will still work.
I had stock 4.2.2. with LokiHack and then I've installed stock 4.4.2. to keep root access. I just hope it will be possible to install LP over it or there will be some other method to root our devices. In general, this is a great news and I hope LG will make it stable and fast as KitKat
I'm just hoping that LG do such a great job that I dont even need to root.
Never felt I needed to root my Nexus 5. The G2 without a recents button is an entirely different story......
Has anyone been able to find any sources on how Lollipop looks on the 7.0 / 8.0 / 10 series as it's being deployed in Korea? I'm guessing it's be a good indicator of what we'll end up with in a couple months. So happy to hear that LG is doing this! At the very least it'll tide me over until whatever comes next drops in price - looking potentially at you, HTC...

Nice, thanks! Looks like the LP upgrade is coming to the UK for the newer G Pads now, so with luck it'll make it to our 8.3s soon after Korea unleashes in next month.
Summarizing the linked post and its followups, improvements on those tabs suggest better battery life, earphone volume, and the various cosmetic improvements both expected and not (they made the notification shade NOT take up the whole screen now - why?).
I wonder if the improvement in battery life will justify LG fixing the damn gamma on the screen of our 8.3 - arguably the only standout problem on an otherwise awesome tablet. Here's hoping!

Yes, I also love the Gpad but side by side, the screen on the Nexus 7 (2013) is significantly better. Black level, viewing angle, brightness, contrast. If this was the cheap v400, I would have expected this but the v500 is a top of the range product. :silly:
I've had my Pad on CM12 for about a month and a bit now and I don't regret one bit. I had enough of waiting with no news till now but hurray for all the users that LG hasn't abandoned us.

You're right but only if you get a Nexus 7 2013 without the touchscreen problems. I had 3 before switching to the v500.

My touchscreen on the Nexus 7 2013 seems a bit laggy for gaming. :crying:
Having said that, I dont game much at all so dont find the screen an issue. I think it depends on your usage really. For my usage, the higher picture quality is more important. I hope LG put a better screen on any future v500.
Wonder if at&t will update their lg pad 7.0.

Hello everybody,
I had on my LS980 device the cloudyg3 rom and i wanted to go back stock.
So i flashed the firmware and all is good except for one problem: I've got no knock-on (knock-off works great tho), and i understood that's happening because the g3 rom is changing the touch firmware.
When i'm going to the hidden menu i don't have the update touch firmware and if i update to the ZVD build it's all working - but the battery is sucks on this build.
What can i do to fix this WITHOUT going to the ZVD build? Currently on 4.4.2 (ZVC, LS980)
Thanks

I went through this EXACT same issue with my LS980, what I did was installed CyanogenMod 11 M9 Snapshot on my device and had the knock on and knock off feature work)the ROM offers those options), the trade off is that you'll lose nearly all of the features the LG G2 offered, and those will be replaced with CyanogenMod features, but I'll tell you, my battery life has never performed better![emoji4] [emoji106]
Side note, you don't have to knock on the status bar to lock your device, you can swipe up and touch the sleep icon and it will lock.[emoji4] [emoji4] [emoji4] Here's a Snapshot[emoji4]

I Can live with cm11 but here's the deal - how much SOT do you get average? also how much time your battery is doing without charging it over again?

This is how much battery I get on average
And here's the SOT
But I'm a mid to heavy user, so it varies from person to person on how much they use their device battery.
Speaking of the hidden menu, I couldn't find it either, I was getting annoyed with the knock on feature so much, I almost returned my device for a replacement, but then the ZVD update fixed it, but as you said in the Original Post, it's not good, and I agree, so I went with a solution, I flashed CyanogenMod 11 M9 snapshot.[emoji4] [emoji106]

Damn that was fast by CM. Maybe now that we have Bump! we will soon-ish see proper support from CM? They support far more obscure models than G3 so I'm at least hopeful.

Official or unofficial, all CM versions being ported to a new device goes through "buggy". That's why the current version is BETA.
LG has done a really bad job at Android 5.0. It almost looks exactly the same. CyanogenMod 12 will at least have Material Design so I'm looking forward to its release.

I don't see this happening. Any changes to the boot image would mean it needs to be re-Bumped, and relying on a third-party like this is a precedent that I don't think CyanogenMod will want to set.
Do any of you guys know of a TWRP themes thread somewhere in some forum? Somewhere we can get a nice compilation of the themes? I'd search the forum but I figured maybe someone has it bookmarked or something!
---------- Post added at 12:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:02 PM ----------
Also, has anybody heard if LG plans to update its stock apps to Material Design? All the stock apps on the L stock roms are just the same old crap.
PSA
Well this is a nice boost.
But big battery is BIG
The development has kicked in well and a big thanks to our devs/porters for that but I feel the lack of frequent updates/nightlies. I think we should invite Rom Cooks/Development teams (CM, Omni, MIUI, PA, PACMAN, etc.) to begin officially supporting our G3. The Bumping might be an extra load on them but am sure they would collect good donations from all of us once they start developing for us.
We have neither heard any news from them if they are considering to support G3 yet. I don't know if they know about bump or not or if they still think we have a locked bootloader with no workaround.(silly concern maybe, but am still concerned )
Damn that battery is big! We really need new development in the battery area. I don't like how every manufacturer is focusing on the thinness of the phones instead of having a slightly bigger battery.
Maybee someone know a good Kernel dev. for our G3! Would be good for our battery and performance?

How has LG done a bad job with android 5? Samsung has looked the same since they started making phones. HTC kept sense looking the same right up until blinkfeed and even then there was still the option to use the good old flip clock widget (which really just became flatter). I think they did a good job of keeping their individual look and feel while moving forward. The integration with the new O.S is done well and personally I think the new material design is not too attractive, but oh well...
I am impressed but still figuring lollipop out.
Google officially released Android 5.1 on 9th March for Nexus devices.
I am hoping that it should be released to AOSP within this week. So people what do u think?? What are the chances of One Plus One getting Android 5.1 straight way?

As a Nexus user i hope AOSP code gets released soon, i'm not used to wait. ☺
Update: AOSP being uploaded...
This thread makes no sense. CM12 is based on 5.0.2. Of course the next release of CM12s for the OPO will not be based on Android 5.1. You don't really need a poll for that.
Will CM12 update to 5.1 or are they going to wait until a staple 5.0.x is completed
Not sure why people always open ETA threas whenever there is an update on versions by google.
If YOU are a developer and you wish to release a 5.1 based rom, give us ETA. Otherwise ,none of these threads are going to fasten the process, or the way other developers work.
If YOU think, a thread like this will help, go ahead and open similar thread on all OnePlus forums. :goteam:

Nobody reading this can answer those questions, it's pointless asking. All you're going to get is baseless speculation.
Transmitted via Bacon
Yet another Thread which is asking us to imagine things which don't exists yet. So may people are begging for Lollipop 5.0.2 from a long time(and we already have so many Lollipop based ROMs) and @op wants us to believe our device will get 5.1 which is again pointless.
Is there an option for "I don't care". My Amazon Fire Phone run smoother than the OnePlus and Moto X running Lollipop. I'll wait to see ColorOS get update to Lollipop or OxygenOS mature. For now I'm using ColorOS because it's the only rom that have continuous autofocus working for camera recording and 50MP photo.

The 2013 Moto X is the prime example of why specs aren't everything. My Droid Maxx is nearly the same device with a larger battery (which is what the X desperately needed at times), it's been hard letting go of that phone for my OPO.

From my experience the X didn't need a bigger battery? I consistently got 4.5+h SOT on that phone, and my Mum still gets the same on it now.
i dont find 4,5 hrs to be good. On my oneplus I get 7-9 hrs depending on how I use it.

Moto X
4.5*60=270minutes
2200mah/270 minutes = 8.1mah per min of SOT
OnePlus One
7*60=420
3100mah/420 minutes = 7.4mah per min of SOT
So while there is a difference, it isn't really that great. And considering that I have only ever got 7h SOT once, but generally get 5.5-6, they are about even (6h SOT = 8.6mah per min of SOT). I know it's a weird way to measure it, but I've found it to be accurateish across device.
Yeah, it's already been announced that CM12s will be based on 5.0
I got maybe 2 hours? It was awful and the main criticism from several outlets and communities is the battery life. Otherwise it's honestly one of my favorite phones ever.
Battery life is actually great. There are other problems. Like the mic not working

I, too, had a droid maxx, and while I also loved it, don't think the battery life was much better than the 1+. Do miss that carbon fiber back, active display, and voice commands, though. What a great phone that was, especially for the $150 they sell for these days.

i really like the back buttons but in my opinion i think that with the dual camera it would be ugly to leave volume buttons on the back
Nothing less than a fully unlockable Bootloader will make me even consider switching.
First, thanks to Tony for kicking off the thread. Second, I'm looking forward to the SD 820, micro SD card, removable battery, buttons on the back, hell just everything! I'm super stoked about this phone. Buh bye Nexus 6!

Well like it's predecessors, there will most likely be a few variants that will unlocked or unlock able:good:

Except it doesn't run stock Android, can't be used on multiple carriers the same as the N6 can, doesn't get fast updates, will have much less dev support, isn't guaranteed to get root or unlocked bootloader, etc.

But it should have a better camera, a much better screen, modular support (Removable battery/SD Card slot), higher screen density, better CPU/GPU, more RAM, better audio quality..... But hey, latest software makes a phone right, sigh.

Did I say otherwise? My comment was to the comment that the G5 is "everything the Nexus 6 should have been" the other poster claimed.

The way I interpreted it was that the G5 will still pale in comparison to pretty much any Nexus device because it doesn't run stock software or isn't easily unlockable.
If that wasn't your intention then I do apologize, but I do feel strongly that at this point even phones without Nexus like interfaces will still run better than Nexus devices because of the hardware choices that Google gives manufacturers for those specific devices (Although Google is starting to push the limit a bit with the latest Nexus releases).

^^ This:good:
I went from a LG G4 to the N6, three weeks later I went back to the G4. When the N6P came out, I purchased it hoping for the best. I tried... I just couldn't like it. I gave it to my son and then purchased the G4 with unlocked BL.
@geoff5093 I do understand and appreciate your point of view (thank god we all have one:good I have found that the one dinamic I truly love about the G4 is the feel in the hand. While this may not be a biggie to developers, or the crowd that wants root, I truly like when I can hold a phone and it just feels right

Haha, I went from the G4 to the 6P and loved everything about the 6P more except the camera.

Rumor that power/volume might be moved to side of device is sad. I love the back buttons!

I can confirm that the volume button is on the side of the phone. The fingerprint reader is going to serve as the power button, and that will be on the back.

Chime in, what are your thoughts?
the GPU is adreno 530 not 520
the main shooter is rumored to be 16mp
and the battery about 2800 mAh
those are the last rumors

I've not heard, nor seen this. Can you share any links to support what you have heard? I do agree w/ the adreno 530 though, that I have seen too:good:
I'm looking forward to seeing it out BUT I'll never buy another LG phone that has a locked bootloader.

Thank you. Well while it is spec-ulation atm, it will be nice to see what the final design will offer.
The G5's dimensions will allegedly be 149.4 x 73.9 x 8.2 mm
If I can get a significantly extended battery for it, I'll consider it. If no big battery = no buy.

Not sure that will be possible. The battery has a different insertion method... or so it was speculated.
Rear camera will be a dual Camera, one cam will have 16mp and the other one 8mp and the gpu adreno 530, not 520. Wouldn't expect a bump that big from 3k to 4k mah on battery :/
I have a G3, if this phone turns out to be REALLYYYYY revolutionary, I might think on upgrading by the end of the year.
No
Because the bootloader on the G4 & V10 still hasn't been unlocked... Not sure if the hack Gods are interested in LGs phones anymore.

Some versions of the Intl V10 and the T-mo are BL unlocked. Same goes for the G4:good:
I'm upgrade from S6 Edge & LG G2... . Lg makes usefull smart phones. I like this one too ...
I'm currently running the G3. I really liked the v10, but the things I want improved on the v10 are USB-C, smaller profile, and the SD 820. I also would like to keep the 4GB of RAM, but let's see how that goes.
I hope the G5 keeps the same style and form as the previous G4,G3, and (to a major extent) G2. The buttons on the back and the high screen to body ratio are my two favorite things on the G3. I also really like the audio cord on the bottom.
Hey guys, just coming here to lay my claim to this sub forum! I'm 99% sure I'm picking up a G5, porting it for an official NetHunter release, and fixing up a fun kernel. I might even get involved with TWRP.
It's starting to look like it could be a real open development phone for me. (I'll be getting it in Canada though when it is available, so I'm certain I'll be in the bootloader safezone)
I'm really glad they went with a 5.6" screen. It'd be nice to see some reliable information on the battery and how easy it will be to replace. Leaving the world of 1 second battery swap to full is a scary thing for me.
Won't upgrade from V10
I am really considering buying the V10 right now, but after seeing this I must consider to wait for the G5.... Decisions, decisions
I am currently using xperia Z5 Premium.

Hope is the word:fingers-crossed:
Glad to see Devs populating this device:good:
I like how the spec in OP is for a 6 inch lens.
I'll probably be getting a G5 in Spring/Summer. Currently the G3 is working great and is slowly coming up for a replacement.
I may upgrade my old G2 now
