Hello everybody,
I had on my LS980 device the cloudyg3 rom and i wanted to go back stock.
So i flashed the firmware and all is good except for one problem: I've got no knock-on (knock-off works great tho), and i understood that's happening because the g3 rom is changing the touch firmware.
When i'm going to the hidden menu i don't have the update touch firmware and if i update to the ZVD build it's all working - but the battery is sucks on this build.
What can i do to fix this WITHOUT going to the ZVD build? Currently on 4.4.2 (ZVC, LS980)
Thanks

I went through this EXACT same issue with my LS980, what I did was installed CyanogenMod 11 M9 Snapshot on my device and had the knock on and knock off feature work)the ROM offers those options), the trade off is that you'll lose nearly all of the features the LG G2 offered, and those will be replaced with CyanogenMod features, but I'll tell you, my battery life has never performed better![emoji4] [emoji106]
Side note, you don't have to knock on the status bar to lock your device, you can swipe up and touch the sleep icon and it will lock.[emoji4] [emoji4] [emoji4] Here's a Snapshot[emoji4]

I Can live with cm11 but here's the deal - how much SOT do you get average? also how much time your battery is doing without charging it over again?
also, here's the problem i've been dealing with screenshot - no hw device test: http://puu.sh/aPpb7/0270e4fb86.jpg

This is how much battery I get on average
And here's the SOT
But I'm a mid to heavy user, so it varies from person to person on how much they use their device battery.
Speaking of the hidden menu, I couldn't find it either, I was getting annoyed with the knock on feature so much, I almost returned my device for a replacement, but then the ZVD update fixed it, but as you said in the Original Post, it's not good, and I agree, so I went with a solution, I flashed CyanogenMod 11 M9 snapshot.[emoji4] [emoji106]

i can't remember on which rom it was, but neither it was stock or neither it was cloudyg3, i got 17h with 4-5SOT. so this battery kinda sucks on cm11... and imma pretty heavy user.

My battery didn't like that ROM, not only did my device get hot after using it for 5 minutes, the battery wasn't so nice to me, but your battery life is amazing.[emoji106] , I'm sorry, I wish I could come up with a solution for you, but I'm out of ideas.[emoji20] [emoji20]

It's been eating at me since ROMs started coming out for KitKat whether I should upgrade to it or not. I'm quite happy with my 4.3 Custom Roms and CM11 Roms. The only thing I dont like about the CM11 is the bad sound and the obvious lack of note 3 specific features such as one handed mode and S-Pen and S-Note.
I can't get it out of my head and I would like to hear some feedback for people who already upgraded to Samsung's KitKat.
What are the main issues with most roms right now? Any regrets being in the new bootloader? Worth it?
Should I be a bit more patient and give DEVS more time to master 4.4?
For those that don't know when you upgrade to the new bootloader to try and install KitKat roms you cannot revert to the previous one so hence cannot flash 4.3 roms or AOSP roms.
(AFAIK only the Mexican Note 3 or Canadian I think have a way to go back or install 4.3 roms after going to the new bootleader)

I don't know what others are experiencing at the moment - but I recently flashed Kit Kat and the only problem I seem to be having is that the WIFI will periodically disconnect for 5 second intervals about 10 times an hour. Other than that nothing else is a problem
I do really enjoy the new galaxy s voice. But mind you - I havent installed a custom rom yet
satisfied with kitkat.. no regret

i heard it brakes compatibility with call recording software.
4.3 is stable enough for my liking.
BUMP
Call recording doesn't work and the camera is worse, I have flickering lines on my camera which I never had. But the phone is super fast and the battery is a great improvement. I wouldn't say you need to be on kit Kat if you are happy on 4.3....but the Poland firmware is obviously a test firmware.... So when all regions get it... Should be much better.

On aosp kitkat I'm running acid audio engine with great results!
I actually love the battery life on Kitkat... I have removed both Note 3's, sporting JB and Kitkat from power at the same time. I've been using the Kitkat phone all day making calls, sms'ing and other various things not to mention the auto updates...
Both phones have the same setup and syncing but the Kitkat phone which is being used has more power than JB phone which has sat on my bed all day long doing what it wants and not being used. It's down to 78% over about 11 hours. The Kiktkat one is at 86% ad has been used all day.
That's brilliant as far as I'm concerned...

Mines been off for repair and is due back today. I dont know what they've done yet but I'd be surprised if software was the problem.

Apparently the Balitic now has 4.4.2 firmware, according to Sammobile... Its the same build though...
Well I would say the only regret is missing the ability to flash 4.3 ROMs and CM. Otherwise seems smoother and faster. So if you do like the TW features I would suggest upgrading.
Been upgraded for a couple of days know, busting my head around how to revert back to CM but I realized putting CM is not very productive when you think about it. The 4.4 stock ROM is damn fast so the only difference I'm seeing is in RAM Usage (stock ROM using much more ram naturally), but does it really matter on a device with 3GBs of Ram? I've never once been close to hitting that mark.. You do get all the S Pen features and stuff that probably made you buy the device in the first place.
So basically:
TW pluses
no bugs
S Pen and other features
CM pluses
no bloat
more customization options and annoyances fixed that should've been there in the first place.

Who's service do you use and which modem or radio do you have loaded. I have wind in Vancouver which does not use LTE but wonder if a different radio will allow me to use LTE from another carrier ie. say Rogers if I am out of coverage area of Wind. I notice with the stock Samsung software and Wind in Vancouver if I loose signal it sometimes does not automatically log back in even though I am within coverage area. My only complaint so far.

finally a official cm11 forum for the n7. been checking in on my n5 from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-11-nexus-5-t2584004
been running stock and cm11 on my n5 and n7 both with run time ART. stock with ART its much smoother then cm11 but not by much. stock is way more stable but cm11 is so much more fun.
Yeah I love cm11 but I keep getting random reboots which is a bit of a pain. So I went back to stock. However my Nexus 5 runs like a dream and love all the extra stuff that I can do. Can't wait for cm to be more stable.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
So, I enabled ART to see the difference, if any. One app wouldn't run. That was Real Racing 3. Otherwise, snappy app loads. Recent app list loads pretty zippy also. Restored a few apps with TiBu without any hitches. I am running Elemental X and not the stock CM kernel on 4/14 nightly.
MY problem is that the lockscrren only works at portrait, i´t wont switch to landscape.
After unlocking it rotates immediatly.
You can activate the landscape mode for the lock screen by going into : Settings > Display and lights > Rotation and check "Enable lock screen rotation"
That's easy no ?
I'm also running on the latest snapshot of CM11 on my N7 LTE.
It randomly reboots constantly! So infuriating, as it does it regularly using certain functions.
When Google Play checks for updates, reboot.
When a BT headset is linked, random reboot.
When using GPS speedometers (which is mandatory when I'm driving my old Bug with broken speedo cable), random reboot.
Other things trigger it as well, but they're even more random and I can't pinpoint it.
Sorry to leave the glory that is Cyanogenmod, but it's entirely unusable for me with these issues. Backing up and preparing to go back to stock as I type. I'd be happy to help in any way that I can to resolve this.
Please, do you known where is the XDA thread for Nexus 7 v2013?

My experience has been the same.
In the past, I always found CM and other custom Roms to be reliable enough. That was when I had a Galaxy S Vibrant, and then an LG G2X.
Since I've now had a N4 (RIP), N7 LTE/DEB (resurrected) and N7 Grouper, on none of them do 3rd party Roms even come close to the stability of stock. Whenever I try anything else, I end up with reboot issues - on ALL of my devices. I've tried Slim, Carbon, Paranoid, Cm11 official, Kangs, etc. Nothing is as stable as stock.
I'm not sure what cancer has infected 3rd party Roms, but I sure wish someone would get serious about fixing stability issues. I miss the features, but I'd rather have stability.
Xposed framework gives me some of what I miss from custom Roms as well. Some claim they don't like how it "mucks with" the framework and modifies the system... well, so do custom Roms.. and I've never had a reboot issue due to using Xposed.
Hello everybody I have installed cm 11 m7 and I can't find the quickboot option is there any way to enable this or install ?

I'm currently on Optimus DE v2.3 with Sprint as my carrier. I've tried multiple ROMs, including stock, and the GPS is wildly inaccurate. Sometimes it'll get a good enough fix to navigate, and other times it'll get confused and freeze my location or be really inaccurate. I honestly think these problems started after the KitKat update because it wasn't quite this bad on Jelly Bean. This makes me think it's software related, not hardware related. Take a look at this picture below, I have an S3 on the left and the G2 on the right:

Any ideas on possible fixes? I really don't want to downgrade to Jelly Bean just because of this. I've tried using GPS apps from the Play Store, such as GPS Status and Toolbox, GPS Test, etc. but they haven't made any difference.

Guessing you already have it on high accuracy? Might have to flash a stock ROM and get a good GPS lock then reflash again
I had the same issue. Let me tell you absolutely no stock ROMs helped either. Oddly enough only aosp is 100% accurate and gives me zero gps issues. I'm running paranoid android and while it does have it's issues like volumes are a tad too high and there are wakelock issues.... Having the ability to use my GPS far outweighs that. I need to use GPS quite a lot.
Try out paranoid android and let me know if you see the same.

This fix solved it for me, it can now stay connected for over an hour without losing signal.

Now I get very few screen misses, and screen on time 4.5 hours.
Before this I got screen on time maximum 2,5 hours.
Just wanted to let you guys/Girls in on this as it worked perfect for me and my wife.
Thanks for the placebo

Think I've been around enough to make an accurate judgement, add I'm an recognised developer, I made a hell of a lot of mods and ROM's all developed for two things only battery life with good speed.
You don't have to believe me, what matters is for me, add I got a much better phone.
Hi smaberg,
I was wondering if you are on the Euro 815 version of the G4? Based on your post I'm guessing you are? As a guy who knows what he/she is doing, I was wondering if you could make a flashable zip of the version d firmware? I have a mac and my understanding is you need a pc for the LG flash tool?
Figured I would ask and would greatly appreciate if you could help!!
Do you have the same set of apps installed as you did before the firmware and resets?
I saw better battery results on my second G4 vs my first, some of which I assume was because I installed a lot less apps on the second unit. Which seems reasonable to me.
What device is the OP using?

I'm on international 815 (Euro).
Still using the exact same apps(didn't use LG backup Restore as it brings back the old draining Barry problem from my old backup).
And NO I can't make an zip, as it would skip some important steps. I mean I can make it, NO problem, but then you will end up with the exact same problem add the old.
hey Smaberg, can you outline the step to flash the new version? I'm using 815, but since i'm residing in Asia, my phone is not seeing any upgrades.
Yeah i also like to get exact steps you made to flash

lol at 3 factory resets..just makes me want to skip the whole ordeal
it's 2015 and google (+manufacturers) still can't get their **** together even when using the most powerful hardware available
android 5.x has been utter failure imo.
@smaberg, 4.5 hrs screenon is nothing to be specially proud on, yesterday i had 6hrs with 12.5hrs on battery. Device is H815 and firmware is v10c howecer, i got my device on saturday and did just root it this night... we will see how it behaves now.

Me too, but I did one before flash, one with the flash tool as I chose to make a CLEAN install, and the last mostly to be sure.

I know, but compared to before, with only 2 hours, sometimes even less worth stock a and b I'm pretty ☺ happy, now I'm going to deactivate some junk and see the results, and when I'm done I'll share it.
I'm trying to get the best battery without root, then with root and some of mine scripts and files mod. And we'll see where we stand. In the end maybe an ROM pure made for battery as in the old days. If some still want this? I thought/think people mostly want bling bling and speed...

Hi,
I would definitely be interested in a battery life based ROM. I find that premium phones have more than enough power you need (if youre not a gamer) so as long as the UI is smooth battery life is more important to me.
Regards,
Ravi
Only used 4% battery and got this screen on time. With everything on.

That's weird, you have the economy saver logo activated but still have 62% of battery life...

You can turn it on manually which some people do to prolong battery life rather than just when on low battery.

Correct I have it on pretty much all the time. It doesn't effect anything I do on the phone and I get a lot better battery life as you can see combined with the use of App Ops, DisableService, and greenify

I don't use it because of the annoying orange colour change... How did you get rid of that??
