So it appears the next iteration of CM is already starting to roll out... and we don't even have a fully working 11:silly:
Cyanogenmod-11-m12

Damn that was fast by CM. Maybe now that we have Bump! we will soon-ish see proper support from CM? They support far more obscure models than G3 so I'm at least hopeful.

An excellent point.CM has builds for almost every LG that has come out:good: So for sure, the G# is not far behind.

Does anybody has a word on the official CM11 release? I got a feeling the curent (unofficial) one is a bit buggy.

Official or unofficial, all CM versions being ported to a new device goes through "buggy". That's why the current version is BETA.

LG has done a really bad job at Android 5.0. It almost looks exactly the same. CyanogenMod 12 will at least have Material Design so I'm looking forward to its release.

I don't see this happening. Any changes to the boot image would mean it needs to be re-Bumped, and relying on a third-party like this is a precedent that I don't think CyanogenMod will want to set.

Do any of you guys know of a TWRP themes thread somewhere in some forum? Somewhere we can get a nice compilation of the themes? I'd search the forum but I figured maybe someone has it bookmarked or something!
---------- Post added at 12:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:02 PM ----------
Also, has anybody heard if LG plans to update its stock apps to Material Design? All the stock apps on the L stock roms are just the same old crap.

PSA
Well this is a nice boost.
But big battery is BIG

The development has kicked in well and a big thanks to our devs/porters for that but I feel the lack of frequent updates/nightlies. I think we should invite Rom Cooks/Development teams (CM, Omni, MIUI, PA, PACMAN, etc.) to begin officially supporting our G3. The Bumping might be an extra load on them but am sure they would collect good donations from all of us once they start developing for us.
We have neither heard any news from them if they are considering to support G3 yet. I don't know if they know about bump or not or if they still think we have a locked bootloader with no workaround.(silly concern maybe, but am still concerned )

Damn that battery is big! We really need new development in the battery area. I don't like how every manufacturer is focusing on the thinness of the phones instead of having a slightly bigger battery.

Maybee someone know a good Kernel dev. for our G3! Would be good for our battery and performance?

How has LG done a bad job with android 5? Samsung has looked the same since they started making phones. HTC kept sense looking the same right up until blinkfeed and even then there was still the option to use the good old flip clock widget (which really just became flatter). I think they did a good job of keeping their individual look and feel while moving forward. The integration with the new O.S is done well and personally I think the new material design is not too attractive, but oh well...
I am impressed but still figuring lollipop out.

Boot to Gecko Port

Hey guys,
I would like to port Boot to Gecko to our HTC Desire HD
Perhaps you know Boot to Gecko, it's the new Linux based OS from the Developers of great Firefox.
It is in an early state of Developing but it runs on an Samsung Galaxy S2. There are others out there who are also would like to see a port of it on an other Device.
Here and here for example..
herrsch0rdev wrote here that we just need to replace/add some drivers, perhaps a talented Android ROM Developer ore some one else who can help or poste some information or knowledge reads this and can provide help.
thx

Good idea, but why not wait till the final version comes out and then port it on our devices? Even if you will port it now, people won't use it as a daily, but only to see how it works. I suggest you wait for the final version and then port.
Hmmm... I love panel 4-8, but those massive icons are a turn-off.
No widgets? I like clock/weather and facebook/twitter and whatnot.
Bringing this thread up again because I found a port guide from mozilla
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Boot_to_Gecko/Porting
Would really love to see this live
Firefox OS look promising and running on our device would be so awesome. wish i could help in development. but would be able to help in graphics and testing once someone picks up the task.
man this looks nice, I would most definitely try this one if it came out Love the simplistic idea for GUI.
Yeah it looks absolutely stunning but is this something we can post in Development section?
I believe randomblame has started to port this.

I'm wondering if this would be any sort of solution now that HTC has abandoned us. I mean I don't see ICS or JB fully stable any time soon(maybe I'm wrong.. I'd love to be wrong to be honest)
..wondering how they would make it work for our phones(driver wize), of course maybe it would be just the same "ship" with different name.. either titanic or britannic the fate might be the same as these too.
I guess will have to wait and see..

Ahem, jellybean and ICS is pretty much as stable as needed.
Latest JT and Pacman roms are pretty much bullet proof, MIUI has some lag issues. If you're getting reboots try disabling HW overlays
ICS is as good as done, I would even say that Sense roms are more stable than non sense, and overall I feel they certainly match the stability of sense 3.5.
but......I would love to see a gecko port!

I prefer non sense roms and trust me they are not as stable as I would like. When I mean stable its not just working all features, its beeing bugfree too
P.S. android 2.3.7 is stable, ICS and JB ..hmm not ..working and in a very good state but not near stable at all.
lol
:crying: lol
So, did anyone started working on it?
I'd love to test it
Bumping this for the motherland.
Would love to see this, or Ubuntu Phone OS or OpenWebOS (May my Palm Pre RIP) on the DHD.
jb and ics roms are ok but launching apps is way slower than sense, and camera is never stable...i like to try this
So I assume that this boat sealed
Damn, I'd like to see Firefox OS in our phones.

[Q] CM10 for the Nexus 7?

Is this something that may happen quickly for the N7 as it is stock android, or will the devs need to spend a fair amount of effort prepping it for the N7?

I thought that may be the case, but that level of detail is not in my wheelhouse, so thanks for the info!
I wonder how long it will take an enterprising dev to start the "***OFFICIAL*** CM10 For the Nexus 7" thread in the dev forum
I have no doubt I could compile CM10 as it is for the Nexus 7, I don't see any point yet though, there are next to no changes.
Ahh... cool. I have not even messed around with cm9 yet because a full version of it is not supported for my device. I was a big fan of CM7.2 when I was running the RC though.
Thanks for taking the time to answer my question - it's cool when the devs help folks like me out with the easy questions
Cyanogen 10 NIGHTLIES should begin soon.
As far as a release candidate or final, there is absolutely no way to tell but i can pretty much guarantee you looking from CM7 and CM9 that your looking at at least 2-3 months.
ICS was released last November and CM9 has not even hit release candidate yet.

CM9 has hit RC1 . Apparently, it's going to take less time to get things rolling from ICS -> JB as there aren't that many BIG platform changes unlike GB -> ICS.
Looking forward to CM10 or AOKP!
This is what I'm waiting in for. Does anyone know if someone has committed to being the Cm dev for the n7? And if so, I who is it?
A lot of the work of being a 'dev' for a certain device isn't really needed with a Nexus device since Google provides most of the bits that make it difficult to make a custom ROM without.
Also, quite a few devs were at IO and received a free Nexus 7, so I really don't think we're going to be short of devs wanting to get CM working on the device!
yes, but my question is if anyone has stepped up yet. Is there a device maintainer? I'm actually pretty surprised that there isn't a cm10 build floating around for this yet....
Well, it sure looks like someone has stepped up to the plate. I wonder what the next steps are?

Brandon BennettYesterday 11:05 PM - Public
So funny story. Right after I got done adding some files to support CM10. I took my Nexus 7 over to my nephews birthday party. I set it down for a second on a table. My sisters dog than ran into it and the N7 took a fall to the patio.
What only looked like a small crack on the screen and the display works fine. The trouble came when I tried to unlock my tablet. The touchscreen no longer works.
So my plee to anyone out there. I am looking for a new N7. I would buy it from Google but they are 3-4 weeks out on shipping the next round. If anyone bought two, or knows of any other stores that may have one in stock let me know. I don't want to be out of the game that long!

That's nemith and he maintained the Nook Color for awhile. Still works with our current maintainer fattire, and those guys are the best.
For real, for real.
I would love to see either of those gentlemen be active in this forum. I still spend more time on the Nook forum than here, and I haven't even turned that device on since the Nexus 7 arrived.
Which makes me feel totally guilty. Something is very wrong with me.

Speaking of hardware, the only meh so far are the volume-/powerbuttons. They appear quite cheap and wobbly. Stock-SW is sth you have to get used to. Or simply give a custom-rom a try.

Mine arrived and the buttons are solid enough. Could be better (aluminium) but nothing to put me off and certainly better than the N7100/N7102 I am leaving behind, which have a silly amount of creaks and soft areas considering their price.
Most reviews have been on the mark now I've actually got the device. Areas of improvement for sure but initial impressions are it's a really fine effort considering the size and experience of the competition. Starting out with stock (official) ROM before going to Betas and AOSP/AOKP to see how each fare. I quite like the stock interface - a bit of a change from traditional dark Android and it doesn't lag like TouchWiz
Also, the text difficult to read as noted in the review is fixed - screen of notification pull-down in current official stock ROM (0514).

A very interesting point in the review is this sentence: "Want a Google Edition device? This comes pretty darn close!"
I follow all the cm/aokp/pac/pa threads but as far as ive seen, there are troubles with the camera, overall stability and performance. Why are there no stable or almost stable roms out if this device is every developers dream?

Yeah, it works, but its far away from stable and the camera still has its bugs. Im not complaining, dont get me wrong, i just want to know why the find 5 is always mentioned when people search for a dev friendly aosp device.
Also there are so few people around in this forum that i fear that the dev`s loose their interest in this device, before theres a stable release of an aosp rom.

Time. The device has only been out a few months, and honestly, both xplodwild and I have been pretty busy with non-CM stuff lately.
Our fault, not Oppo's. Oppo has been, without a doubt, a pleasure to work with. They even sent me a SECOND device (with the serial console hardware populated along with two serial cables) to help with the kernel rebase. Unfortunately after making massive progress on it two weekends ago, I haven't had time to touch CM at all on any device since then.

I wouldn`t dare to complain about the dev`s awesome work, i was just a little bit unsure about the possibility of seeing a stable aosp rom one day, and whether i should keep my find 5 or send it back. To hear that oppo is a pleasure to work with and that awesome dev`s like you will carry on gives me enough certainty to keep that fantastic piece of hardware, and to supply some money to donate
I... am sold. Oppo's proactive dev support is just too awesome. I can see development taking off with this device months down the line, and that's saying much considering that it's already got a solid base for its age.
Looking forward to being a dev labrat~

I've only really investigated Android tablets, not phones, so I'm confused as to what this means to us stock G-Pad owners. Will we be able to flash the kernel / ROM for the Google Play edition directly to our devices? And if so, would we presumably lose the LG features such as knock-on, etc. (I'm expecting we would)?

Yes, just like how the vanilla HTC One and the S4 were able to port the Google edition to the original devices we should be able to do the same as long as the hardware is identical. No word on knock on until we see the kernel and OS in live production or if someone can break it down and compare to ours
Understood, much thanks! Reading around a bit, it means we may actually have the best of all worlds here - a regularly updated tablet with Stock android or close to it, and possibly the cool features the manufacturers designed it with. AND and SD expansion. Awesome.

Usually the source included isn't enough to actually do anything as most of it is proprietary and closed source. However, this looks like a lot more than what we got with the V500 source and might be because it's a GPE device. I'm not experienced in this kind of stuff but I'll see what I can do. I doubt I'll get it to build.

Can you tell something about the screen differences from the kernel? Did the specific ID just change (could indicate a bug-fixed version) or is it a completely different panel?

Otherwise the hardware is pretty close to identical, but does have a different touchscreen.

does it have better colors? I hope that maybe this kernel will give me better colors... stupid yellow/orange is driving me crazy

Can you tell something about the screen differences from the kernel? Did the specific ID just change (could indicate a bug-fixed version) or is it a completely different panel?

It uses the same exact LCD, only the touchscreen digitizer changed. Ours is Synaptics and the GPE is Atmel

Testing Firefox OS in Xperia SP

So, this is a great new !!
http://fxpblog.co/firefoxos/testing-firefox-os-on-sony-xperia-sp/
I had one question always.
Can we xsp users multi boot?
great ! firefox on sp wow
No, it's a side project so it doesn't get much time. Release won't be for several weeks. The issues are not only on the side of device porting but also on the side of Mozilla. It is still under active development, unlike Android which is only released when it is complete.
Yeah, but of we get Ubuntu, it'd better right? But alas, no dev to port it for xsp. Same is for Firefox. As @Levered said it'll take a lot of time to get updates from the op if it gets ported

This is getting awesome!! I just want to try Ubuntu os but I'm a noob[emoji53]. So I'll rather wait and not make any threads for request.
And thanks man. You are awesome too for giving us hopes for a different os[emoji6]

I'm curious, what are you guys 'eager' to see this?
The reason for no release is due to camera. From what I can tell the camera blobs depend on some Android specific parts which will never be part of FxOS (of course).
Unless this is solved then I will probably not release this for Xperia SP as nobody will use it without a functioning camera.
I'm considering getting Xperia E1 to continue this project as this hardware is better supported in FxOS and it also looks like the camera blobs do not have this limitation.

You caused it lol by posting this and showing a video everyone got all excited also you could just release non working build like many devs do with their custom ROMs: on some phones the phone might never have working wi-fi on custom ROMs (desire c fixed after about a year of tinkering) or if you check out the HTC one x custom ROMs they have a lot of stuff broken too!

No way, missing camera (and bluetooth) are missing features too big to warrant a release.
Besides, would anyone really permanently switch from Android to FxOS on Xperia SP if I fixed these two issues and released it? I'd bet money on it that people would use it for a couple of hours maximum, then realize they need the Google services that push all notifications to the phone.
(FxOS doesn't have push notifications for most things, pretty much everything has to be reloaded / refreshed manually, even syncing contact data.)
tested on older device..
I have already tested Firefox OS on my older Xperia E Dual device.. it kinda sucked.. I didn't like the way it felt and it was laggy and super slow.. maybe it is better here in XSP
