[Q] Flashing without custom recovery - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I need to ask that is there any possibility that I can flash any zip without any custom recovery? Because autorec/TWRP breaks my knock on feature on sprint LG G2 and i am unable to repair it through hiddenmenu as well. So I dont want to flash autorec/TWRP

How do you know that it will break the Knock On? You need a custom recovery to flash custom ROMs. You shouldn't have problems with Knock On if you flash stock-based or ported ROMs such as CloudyStock and OptimusG3,

I know because there is a lot of threads about knock on broken after TWRP you can see them and I am using pure stock rom which comes with a mobile. Its runs without any problem with knock on feature untill I flash TWRP through Autorec but after flashing it, knock on feature goes but knock off works fine

Is there anyway to get knock knock to work with TWRP?

[Q] how to remove twrp

HI
Somebody here can help me , i want to remove twrp ,and get back my stock recovery. How do i do that?
And if i flash the stock rom does it come with the kernel .
Flash the stock ROM, update.
This will return you to stock recovery and stock kernel, and if you are on the stock ROM now (not a custom ROM) you will not have to do a full wipe. SO you can keep your apps/settings/data
Thats easy thanks

Yes, it is quite easy.
Do your homework though, because you can just as easily brick your phone.

If you're looking at flashing only the kernel, you might check out this post. Be careful with this, though - if you do this method wrong, it is possible to hard-brick your device. Also, it's for the AT&T S4 only.

[Q] Root on Kitkat? (Question overload!)

My Following question was answered below, it was about getting root on Stock Kitkat.
Thanks [email protected] .

Use CF-Root for KK
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46098951
or, like i did, use Odin to flash CWM (PhilZ) for KK and the SuperSU1.93 zip in Recovery.

So... Hello Xda, I pretty Much didnt post on my old account and at some point lost access to my email User. it was ages old.
I'm sitting here with my new Note 3, its an Snapdragon one, LTE, N9005, and i updated it manually to 4.4.2 using odin, and now i'm Freaking tired of touch****z (sorry. Don't mind the language.) and well, basically i don't get what to do, do i need to downgrade it? what do i need to install a recovery? how do i get root on stock? I hope that i don't seem rude, i just lost track, and i don't want to brick a seven hundred euro phone, understandable, so if somebody would help me out, I'd be super glad. and again thanks for a still awesome community XDA Members.

You can gain root by following the post above, take note that rooting might trigger your knox counter and void your warranty.
Since you've lost track search and read will be your best option.
So far so good.
Thanks for the Help guys, I managed to do all this and install Philz recovery, but other recoveries wont boot, when i tried to install CM11 through Philz i get Something about an kernel not enforcing, and nothing more but that looping over and over again. Is it even possible to install roms on it?
Any help would be super great

Are there any ASOP Roms on that out?
I Found out that Recoveries also changed, and install a CWM that works with 4.4. I'm pretty fine with it now!
Now i'll just be waiting for asop stuff like the rest of the note3 section. Thanks for the Help everybody!

No CM11 nor AOSP rom for KK bootloader. You're stuck with TW only at this moment

[Q] Bump questions...

Hi guys, I am a normal user who like to flash roms and kernels as dorimanx has bump his kernel I am wondering, how am I supposed to flash the bump recovery over KK bootloader? The same way as we use to do it on jb? With flashify? And, about roms, the rom I will going to flash has to be bump? Or once I have a recovery I can flash anything?
Thanks in advance
i would like to know this too...
and what's the advantage of bump anyway?

The advantages are that you don't need to use autorec you just can flash without anything else like on jb that means that (in my case) don't need to restore a KDZ flashable zip to go back to the original phone model because autorec change it....
i still don't see the advantage unless i'd go full stock again (and i don't think that will happen)
i was wondering are there any advantages to the already rooted devices with custom recovery and kitkat roms?

Skip track with Volume keys S4 I9505

I was wondering if there is a way to skip track with the volume keys without having Xposed installed because I am using stock rom and framwork get my phone stuck on boot. I am rotted etc so if there is anything I| could flash it would be appreciated.
A custom rom.
All Cyanogenmod roms have this feature.
There's a GPE rom with this feature.
And the TW custom roms might have this feature too. You'll have to ask in the TW custom rom threads.
Other than that, Xposed is the only option.

Well, obviously you're doing something wrong.
No im doing a full whipe cache data etc then flashing rom
There must be something else. Does the rom even support your model?

I am using TWRP 2.5.0.0, I created a backup before I flashed the new ROM but when it would get stuck on boot screen with the new ROM I tried to restore the backup but then that also got stuck at boot screen. So reinstalled the stock ROM that fixed it but, still no luck with any ROMS.

Scroll down to the end of second post. There are files, like i said above. I don't know this will flash everything correctly, without any brick, but i will try it, sounds safe.
Patch return KK droidh
Yes, if your'e on stock based 5.0.2 or cm 12.1, flash PATCH RETURN KK DROIDTH and DONT FORGET to then reboot to recovery - then you will be able to flash KK rom.
Try it yourself you will learn the difference.
Rly worth it? Lp is not bad at all..
Sent from my LG-D802 using XDA Free mobile app
So is it true what Radac said? Anyone flashed it?
Ive sold G2, bought Note 5....after g2's lolipop it looks like i got ferrari after fiat 500 lol....Battery is much better, and talking about speed after g2 is ridiculous....G2 was great phone before 5.0...i hope it will get 6.0, or 5.1 at least, as 5.1 is snappy as ****
