Hi guys, I am a normal user who like to flash roms and kernels as dorimanx has bump his kernel I am wondering, how am I supposed to flash the bump recovery over KK bootloader? The same way as we use to do it on jb? With flashify? And, about roms, the rom I will going to flash has to be bump? Or once I have a recovery I can flash anything?
Thanks in advance
i would like to know this too...
and what's the advantage of bump anyway?

The advantages are that you don't need to use autorec you just can flash without anything else like on jb that means that (in my case) don't need to restore a KDZ flashable zip to go back to the original phone model because autorec change it....
i still don't see the advantage unless i'd go full stock again (and i don't think that will happen)
i was wondering are there any advantages to the already rooted devices with custom recovery and kitkat roms?

If i were to flash it,is it ok to flash it directly after flashing a custom recovery?
Sorry for many question. Im a sony Ericsson user before thats why im confused with a different method.

Best way is to flash the full new rom (4.3 probably) in fastboot, reroot, restore apps with Titanium Backup and you`re done. Flashing a full rom is better than updating an excisting one imo. Link for how to flash stock rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312.

Yes, it is not hard. Just follow instructions and you should be good
Fastboot:
- Power down the phone, then
- Press Volume down + Power button
That`s it

You can be on stock with no mods unlocked rooted with a custom recovery and you will get the ota update and it will install fine.
The ota update link will be posted here before you get on your device so it's good to have a custom recovery so you can just flash it and it will also protect you from losing root or custom recovery

HI
Somebody here can help me , i want to remove twrp ,and get back my stock recovery. How do i do that?
And if i flash the stock rom does it come with the kernel .
Flash the stock ROM, update.
This will return you to stock recovery and stock kernel, and if you are on the stock ROM now (not a custom ROM) you will not have to do a full wipe. SO you can keep your apps/settings/data
Thats easy thanks

Yes, it is quite easy.
Do your homework though, because you can just as easily brick your phone.

If you're looking at flashing only the kernel, you might check out this post. Be careful with this, though - if you do this method wrong, it is possible to hard-brick your device. Also, it's for the AT&T S4 only.
Is it possible to modify a carrier OTA (lets say change the stock kernel with custom) before pushing it to your device via TWRP recovery??
(reason, i hear the Knox bootloader cannot be removed in TW 4.3 update because the kernel depends on it. And id like to flash the OTA instead of full odin image to avoid full wipe and re-installation)
Any help appreciated, and thanks in advance
Anyone? Bump
I know there is a lot of talent in here..

I believe it is not possible to change the direct OTA zip as it's not in the same format as usual ROM zips. If you have a real custom recovery and exploit, you'll have to wait for a modified update to install 4.3, or run a custom 4.3 ROM from the development section or check the other S4 forums (i9505 may have one).

Well how do I modify the update?? Not interested in custom roms really since they get rid of like all Samsung stuff, which is what Galaxy S4 is all about. (I can't stand pure nexus experience - so dull and boring)

Like I said, I don't believe it is possible. There are plenty of ROMS that do keep the Samsung stuff, such as StockUp and other ROMS in the i9505 section.

um, ok. Didnt really get what you meant by wait for modified update, or run custom 4.3 ROM which i believe is essentially same thing unless you mean someone takes the original mk6 odin image and modifies it. But us Canadians don't need an exploit, since carriers don't lock bootloaders

This update is ONLY for ATT I337 phones. You will damage your phone if you push this update to your I337M phone. Do not do it unless you are developer and you can create your onw rom.

I have a D801 (Tmobile G2) and I’ve been running CM11 on it for over a year.
Now that we have lollipop, I want to upgrade to a ROM based on the official Lollipop release, (this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g2/development/rom-tmo-lp-extreme-v1-0-4-16-15-t3084681)
Ofcourse I’m rooted and have a custom recovery installed, specifically ClockworkModv6.0.5.0/Philz Touch 6.48.4)
Can anyone please guide me on how to install the Lollipop ROM mentioned above. I’m thinking the first step would be to update my recovery to a TWRP recovery…. How do I do that?

That depends, you might need the latest bootstack for the new CAF-based roms, but not everyone seems to agree. I would flash it anyway though, this would prevent any issues like sound bugs and anything else you might find.

Hey guys i just bought this international exynos note 3 (N900) and i have some questions about it ;
1. I want to install all the roms kernels and mods i could find but in order to do that (I'm %100 stock btw) ,do i need to first unlock the device ( i dont know how i couldnt find it), then root it with CF- Auto root( my warranty is over so i dont need to think about KNOX i think??) Then use the dd method to flash a recovery and flash whatever i want. Am i right about the things i said on all above ? Is there an easier way to do it ?
2. Do KNOX ever prevents me from flashing things in ODIN if something gets triggered ?
3. If i am not right about the first question starting from %100 stock what do i need to do to get this baby rockin ? I'm thinking about flashing a stock lollipop rom with a custom kernel and root ofc. Any suggestions ?
4. Do we need to flash modems from odin ? Because when reading the AryaMods thread i saw something about updating the modem. I'm on 4.4.2 right now. Can we flash modems or even kernels from recovery ?
Thanks already!!

There is no much of roms to choose for this one. 9005 is most supported here.
Root using cf auto root.
Make back up of ta partion/imei.
Flash recovery with odin. Then flash roms in twrp (watch the ere about how to use twrp or YT).
flash stock roms using odin.
Can't i just flash recovery from odin then flash a custom rom after that without rooting ? Thanks!

If you are going to flash roms based on lollipop, update your phone to latest stock rom for your model using odin so you get latest bootloader.
Dude, you need root access to access system and write to it. Don't custom roms require root, if you take a look? (don't answer to this [emoji61] )
If you want that way, flash twrp with ? odin. Then flash supersu for your model using twrp. That way too you get root. Then flash roms after (read rom instructions).
Ask if all wondering. ?

No my question was; not rooting the device in the first place before flashing the recovery and the rom. The roms already comes with the root in it. So just to be clear first upgrade the base to lollipop from odin then flash a recovery and lastly flash a lollipop rom. Would this be your sequence when you just bought a new note 3 ?

Flash latest firmware then custom recovery then flash the custom rom of your choice. No need to root after flash official firmware but it's good to root first as you may want to backup efs before you start messing the phone. I backed up the efs for the past 1.5years but so far never need it.
