Using my Acer A500 whenever I connect it using the Micro HDMI it does appear on the screen but it seems to have part of the screen cut off. The status bar on the bottom of the screen and then about the same space on the top and sides.
Is there anything you can get for a root ICS tablet to change the output?
Could it be the cable I am using a 10ft cable?
Or this just what it looks like does the whole screen just never fit.
The TV is a 37 inch HD ready Beko
It outputs at 720p. Does your TV support that resolution?? I have had none of the problems your describing while using the HDMI out.

It does support it as my Xbox output is 720p and when the tablet is connected it says on the tv its output is 720P 60HZ.
any other ideas?
I have the same issue butnot with my TV. My TV will show the entire screen but when I plug into a projector it cuts off part of the screen. I would not think the HDMI out is device dependent but it is certainly looking like it.
Not sure if you checked this, but this happened to me yesterday. What had happened was that the zooming on the TV was causing the problem. It was on 16:9, and cut off some parts. Went through the zooming options until I found one that showed the entire screen (can't remember what it was called).

on a,LG,phillips its original zise a samsung: full screen
Im having the same issue as well, 37" Panasonic LCD. Its fully capable of 1080p as well as 720. I remember connecting my motorola atrix and droid bionic to the TV and both those phones have an HDMI setting --> Overscan setting that you adjust using a slider. With those 2 phones however they problem wasn't the screen getting cut off, it was too small, and adjusting the overscan as high as it could go made the output from the phone fit the tv PERFECTLY.
In our instance, we would need that same overscan slider, and to turn it down. BTW: that setting on the phone was set in the middle by default (say at 50%), so the phone would need it adjusted to 100%, where as our tablet would need it at 0 or near zero...
I am curious i have a hp extreme slate 7, I plugged in the hdmi cable to watch movies on my tv and it works flawlessly however i am wondering if there is a way to shut off the tablet screen playing video while watching a movie on the tv? I thought it would be a good idea if it could do that but upon thinking about it more I dont think that it will because you have to shut down the touch screen. Please let me know if there is anything already on this subject or ideas. I have a usb keyboard and gamepads to actually navigate the websites and stuff if the screen is off just havent found anything on it yet. Thank You
There's an app called second screen which has an option to turn the backlight off, the touchscreen still works but it's a lot less distracting.
Hi all. I've looked for an answer to this issue, but to no avail.
I usually dock my s4 to samsung' s smart dock at home and I use it connected to a tv with mouse and keyboard attached for basic needs. Till lollipop upgrade everything worked flawlessy, now there are some issues:
Original TW: upon connection (power, hdmi etc), the screen goes off and appears on the tv, oriented and scaled to fill the display. this is fairly good, since I don't need anymore a rotation control app, the problem is that if the screen goes off, the only way to interact with the phone is via keyboard and mouse, which is annoying. does anyone know a way to control this behaviour?
GPE: the screen stays on upon connection, but sound is not sent through hdmi, only through the smart dock 3.5mm connectior
thanks, any hint appreciated
so I dropped my s6e+ twice in two days... both on the road...
Because of these stupid new trousers I bought and their stupid pockets....
First time smashed the back (lucky)
The second time fell flat on its face and cracked the screen (edge panels) and now the screen just blinks all different colours.
The phone still works e.g I can hear notifications and I can unlock the fingerprint sensor.
I'm trying to get sidesync working as it effectively mirrors your devices screen and even allows you to make calls etc which would be great.
I have previously set this up and have it installed on my pc and s6e+ but it doesn't seem to be connecting. I have also researched installing airdroid (remotely via play store) then trying to launch it wirelessly with adb (as my usb port is also broken) but it doesn't seem to be an option without the USB.
Anyone have any ideas?
My I dropped my S7 edge and cracked the screen so that half of the screen kind of works but the touch does not work. I can see the lockscreen but if I connect a mouse I see a pointer for a fraction of a section then the screen goes dark. Maybe the lockscreen disables it.
But what are the best way to install some app on it to be able to remotley control it from a computer without using the touch?
If I get control of the phone can I use a chromecast to cast the screen to an external screen or are there any other aletrnatives as I read that there are none MHL support any longer.
And what could you use it for ? maybee some sort of Tasker "server",
crappy game console if you could cast the screen to a chromecast connected tv and add a bluetooth controller.?
What other scenarios could you use it for?
I know this is old but I'm at this part with a Samsung Galaxy s7 I have. The screens on these phones just are to fragile. I didn't even drop it and the back got so hot the glass broke on the back with not dropping it. Then next thing I know it the screen and lcd are all gone crazy on the front. I already Samsung backed up.
I'm wondering if there is a way to use ABD to push a set up so that I can use the phone connected to the chromecast or something where I can see it on my smart TV. So I guess is there an app to upload adb and a certain way to allow the Bluetooth keyboard to connect to take control. This is a really interesting way to find ways to have fun... Just thought it would be worth figuring out so people who are stuck with broken screens can maybe use the android as a backup drive on the computer ext...
I know that anything is possible. I don't really like to say that there is no way because there is a way to do anything if we put are minds to it. . But I don't know enough about it to making calls like that. I hope someone can at least figure out so we can use Bluetooth and wireless to get a working screen on the device in its altered state.
