Hi all. I've looked for an answer to this issue, but to no avail.
I usually dock my s4 to samsung' s smart dock at home and I use it connected to a tv with mouse and keyboard attached for basic needs. Till lollipop upgrade everything worked flawlessy, now there are some issues:
Original TW: upon connection (power, hdmi etc), the screen goes off and appears on the tv, oriented and scaled to fill the display. this is fairly good, since I don't need anymore a rotation control app, the problem is that if the screen goes off, the only way to interact with the phone is via keyboard and mouse, which is annoying. does anyone know a way to control this behaviour?
GPE: the screen stays on upon connection, but sound is not sent through hdmi, only through the smart dock 3.5mm connectior
thanks, any hint appreciated

Okay, this is a weird problem that I don't quite know how to describe...So occasionally when I plug my tablet into my keyboard dock, it makes the "connect" sound, but then it shows a giant clock, almost like the dock screens from the Samsung Galaxy phones, and the keyboard is not enabled, and it's like impossible to access the home screen. Is there a way to get out of this? I'm so frustrated because it seems to happen more and more often...
Edit: Battey level is low..is this just a feature that kicks in when the battery is low? Thanks again
I use the Netflix and Slingplayer apps on my Galaxy Tab 10.1. Unlike many apps, they won't flip if you turn the tab upside down. If I'm looking at a long program or movie, it's nice to be able to keep the charger plugged into the tab, which is pretty much impossible with the tab in normal landscape orientation. Is there any technique or app available which will allow or force the screen to run upside down so I could attach the charging cable to the top?

Want this too
It would also have to force the audio to reverse, I think. Sometimes while using Splashtop to watch a video I'll have to charge the tab. While Splashtop will reorient the screen, it doesn't reverse the stereo speakers. This is a pretty device-specific issue, though, so I don't expect a rapid response from the Splashtop people (they still need to fix Bluetooth mouse support in remote sessions!).
Anyway, first world problems and all, but it would be nice to have a fix.
I just bought one of these, pretty cool, the phone swithes nicely to dock mode but then the touch screen is very unresponsive and laggy, whats up with that?
and I plugged in the hdmi connector but only get a "M" logo on the tv, how to mirror the phone? or watch videos?
What ROM are you running?
If you're on the stock Motorola ROM you should get a popup asking what you want to do, the options being webtop, multimedia station, etc.
If you're running a custom ROM that has landscape mirroring working, just plugging in the phone via HDMI should mirror your phone on the TV.
question: how good is the quality on either the multimedia dock or the HDMI mirroring?
like YouTube, Netflix videos. will they be grainy, pixelated? or...?
ok thanks, Im running stock ROM, i remember the popup, i think i chose desktop or something. it now runs in landcape mode with some apps along the bottom and a big clock. what mode is that?
I am curious i have a hp extreme slate 7, I plugged in the hdmi cable to watch movies on my tv and it works flawlessly however i am wondering if there is a way to shut off the tablet screen playing video while watching a movie on the tv? I thought it would be a good idea if it could do that but upon thinking about it more I dont think that it will because you have to shut down the touch screen. Please let me know if there is anything already on this subject or ideas. I have a usb keyboard and gamepads to actually navigate the websites and stuff if the screen is off just havent found anything on it yet. Thank You
There's an app called second screen which has an option to turn the backlight off, the touchscreen still works but it's a lot less distracting.
My I dropped my S7 edge and cracked the screen so that half of the screen kind of works but the touch does not work. I can see the lockscreen but if I connect a mouse I see a pointer for a fraction of a section then the screen goes dark. Maybe the lockscreen disables it.
But what are the best way to install some app on it to be able to remotley control it from a computer without using the touch?
If I get control of the phone can I use a chromecast to cast the screen to an external screen or are there any other aletrnatives as I read that there are none MHL support any longer.
And what could you use it for ? maybee some sort of Tasker "server",
crappy game console if you could cast the screen to a chromecast connected tv and add a bluetooth controller.?
What other scenarios could you use it for?
I know this is old but I'm at this part with a Samsung Galaxy s7 I have. The screens on these phones just are to fragile. I didn't even drop it and the back got so hot the glass broke on the back with not dropping it. Then next thing I know it the screen and lcd are all gone crazy on the front. I already Samsung backed up.
I'm wondering if there is a way to use ABD to push a set up so that I can use the phone connected to the chromecast or something where I can see it on my smart TV. So I guess is there an app to upload adb and a certain way to allow the Bluetooth keyboard to connect to take control. This is a really interesting way to find ways to have fun... Just thought it would be worth figuring out so people who are stuck with broken screens can maybe use the android as a backup drive on the computer ext...
I know that anything is possible. I don't really like to say that there is no way because there is a way to do anything if we put are minds to it. . But I don't know enough about it to making calls like that. I hope someone can at least figure out so we can use Bluetooth and wireless to get a working screen on the device in its altered state.
