After the update to 4.4.2 my Galaxy Note 3(unrooted), the buttons(home, power and volume not soft keys) and the bottom half of the screen are sometimes unresponsive. It starts functioning again either after a quick lock and unlock or automatically after a few seconds. Is this a bug in the new update or a problem with the digitizer? I have tried resetting the phone a couple of times. Can someone help me?

factory reset won't remove bugs.
cause u didn't have this problem in previous firmware it s not because of hardware.
so try flash compatible stock rom from another region.
if problem remains take it to official service.

It was an official update so short of rooting it and flashing a new firmware i don't see any other options.

I also have the exact same problem... I already did the factory reset but no luck. I increased the sensitivity but still happens...Can anyone help us? or it is caused by the recent upgrade of OS to kitkat version... Thanks.
GOOD NEWS!
I have been having this issue as well. Lots of research on the net has provided me with no real solutions. I think there is something missing in this update. I do not know what it is im not that smart but something is wrong across the board.
I have done a master reset back to factory and within minutes of the set up it started lagging/ not responding again. Figured i would give it a few days and well nothing changed so I contacted T-mobile and spoke with Tech Support located in Texas and he concluded that it is an SD card. He says that the SD card was on the phone prior to the update and is causing the issue since its old. WTF! I told him that the processor, ram, HDD, CPU are all considered old now. Personally I think its a stupid response.
I am going to give this a shot anyways. NO SD card no pictures no music.... Already within 15 minutes of no SD card issues are still there. I am really starting to hate this phone because of this update. Hoping to get a replacement (new) with 4.3 still on it. NO UPDATE for me till i know this and several issues are fixed.
I know i could root but i dont feel i should have to to fix any issues.
Has anyone else found a solution or heard of one yet?
Just try this , go to setting / general / power save , swith it on.
Then wait a moment before you try your phone again.
my wife phone got this issue because of over heating.
after switching the power save , the issue is gone.
update... contacted Tmobile within the last hour and apparently this rep said this is a known issue. She contacted Samsung and Google (could be blowing smoke up you know what) but she came back and said they are very aware of the issues and are vigorously working on a fix and your informations will be one of the first ones to get it. She was saying 4.4 (kitkat) screwed up a lot of Samsung devices. BTW she was also having the same problems. All replacement phones will come with 4.4 so exchanging is out of the question.
Regarding the power saving thing ill give it a shot. It was on before the master reset. Noticed it was off when i went in. On now so ill try then.
I have read too many posts and solutions but nothing have solved my s5 problem, which is not rotating.
I lost rotation after flashing a new rom on my s5 (actually suddenly after two weeks of installing the new rom).
I have to mention that if I removed the battery for more than a min, "sometimes" it works again but not for long time, and when the screen shut down it stops from rotating.
I downloaded cyanogenmod roms but also didn't fix it.
I tried to reset my phone using kies, and it worked back for one day, then stopped.
I also tried the method of replacing libgnustl_shared.so file in system/lib and changing permission (as described in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2644293), but it didn't work with me.
Please, I am so desperate to fix this problem. Anybody think it is a hardware problem?, if yes, why it works after restart with battery removal sometimes?
I am eager to solve this problem, and thanks for everyone who wants to help
Hello, everyone!
Last week I received a brand new Xiaomi Redmi 3S. Everything seemed fine until I noticed that the phone tends to reboot from time to time. Sometimes, it can't work for a couple of minutes before rebooting and sometimes I can spend hours playing with it before the error happens.
I tried updating to the latest official stable MIUI and the problem persists. I switched to the developer version, to no avail.
Then, I decided to unlock the bootloader and install a custom ROM (from Xiaomi.EU) and it didn't solve the issue.
Reading through some threads in the en.miui forums I found some posts by a guy who claimed that the problem could be solved by using KernelAdiutor... But his method didn't work.
I made a video, as the vendor requested. There, you can see the problem: It rebooted my phone twice in less than 5 minutes.
I think that this problem isn't related to the battery, as the reboots have happened even while the phone is connected, and just before each reboot the phone freezes for a moment, like if a program crashed.
Any ideas on how to solve this issue? Thanks in advance.

No expert here, but seems could be hardware error. Next time if you happen to have such thing, don't unlock the bootloader. But maybe you can relock it (if thats needed) and install stock and send it back to them. The device seems to have a defect.
same issue for ME also ! every day crying with redmi 3s ! F**k

yes me too have freeze and reboot problem whenever I use device, its random and cannot be predicted when its going to happen,i tried all ROM ,still same issue persists
why we have same problem in same time? this is from samsung or what?
Hi, is there some new development yet?
Been having that same problem for the last few days now. There were short periods where I could use the device without any issues, but now it's restarting after just one or two minutes, if it even gets that far.
I have the same issue as well
For me the device fails to boot now.
The only way to get it to boot is force off encryption and using lineage.
Yet the phone panics in any app like even amazon.
Service people say it's hardware fault and needs the board to be changed costing 80% of what I paid for the phone itself.
Any help?
Guys, same issue is happening with my sister's A50 from last july(2021) and is still present. On stock rom it was not even usable but on lineage os i am able to use it for YouTube, songs and pretty much other stuff.
Looks like the issue is with the memory ic but I can't check it with anyone as in india even the people who repair devices are not well versed with knowledge and speculate on everything.
I've seen foreign repair guys, they have great knowledge when it comes to repairing of the devices.
I wish we had knowledgeable local repair guys in india too(went Little off topic but what can I do, I've been feeling this a lot lately).
If anyone knows anything or can point in the right direction then pls help.
Thanks for reading.
My M30s (bought in September 2019) started rebooting randomly about a week ago. The last software update on the phone was in June 22nd (evidently the latest One UI Core update to version 3.1) . Device care did not show any red flags, but the restarts happen without any specific indication. I've sent error logs multiple times to Samsung support through the Samsung Members app, plus a log dump to a email address that was specified by another user on the Members site.
On the side I tried a lot of different things to try to stop these restarts, but nothing is helping.
I found out on Twitter that a number of Samsung Galaxy phones that came with same/similar Exynos processor have all faced this issue. And Samsung is apparently recommending a motherboard replacement.
https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1415681717919047700
If anyone else is seeing the same problem and has resolved this (without motherboard replacement), please reply with your solution!
But beyond that, I am trying to see if rooting the device and installing another will help. As a n00b, I have been struggling with that for the last two days. I've gone through the rooting process multiple times & patiently starting from scratch (flashing a stock ROM) every time.
But will rooting plus a custom ROM (Pixel Experience, potentially) get me past this random reboot issue?
Physically the phone still seems good and I have had no other issues before this random reboot problem started. So if persisting with a custom ROM install will help, please let me know. Otherwise, I will just shut this exercise and buy a new phone.
(P.S: Am a n00b. If someone can help me troubleshoot or can point me to a n00b proof rooting procedure), do let me know. The phone is no longer stock because I'm in the middle of another rooting exercise.)
I don't think you would have to root for that. You can just flash your original firmware to system which was working normally. You can find the files on the internet. You can use Odin and it'll be fine.

Rooting or flashing custom rom won't help as I've tried everything with my galaxy a50 but the issue still persists. It's related to hardware of the device. Maybe some loose connections in the motherboard. Unfortunately, we don't have skilled local repair guys in India(assuming you too belong to India) who could look into this.

If you under clock all cores below 1ghz and set selinuxe to permissive mode then magic happens.not even single reboot in last 26 days. Before it was restarting every 5, 10 minutes.
I am also facing the same issue with my M21, downgraded to android 10, but it didn't help. Any suggestions?
