are you serious?
you mean you can install some at once ant use them? as far i know there can be only one ROM installed on ur phone.
for now only 1 but until someone develops a dual-boot kernel u can swich from one to another then
Yea. On my previous s2 i was able to dual boot but you need the right kernel
Hi!
Bought this i9506 yesterday, after getting tired of LG Optimus 4X HD. Wanted Full HD, and a black phone (my LG was white).
Got a bit dissapointed when i saw there's no custom ROMS for this phone yet though.. After all, this is taking over for the old S4 (i9505), at least here in Norway.
What happens if i try to flash a i9505 rom? Will it just say that it's not compatible? Haven't dared to try yet..
It's allready been rooted with the Philz Touch CWM.

I am pretty sure that the phone will not boot. The chipset is diffent and something else that i dont know

Yeah, i guess you're right! SnapDragon 600 in the i9505 vs. 800 in the i9506..
But also, i think the manifest is beeing checked by CWM to check if the rom is the right one..
It's a shame! On my Optimus 4X HD i were hasseling around with building CM11-roms from github/P880-Dev, but since the camera did not work, i just bought this.. Now i guess i have to look more into developing, and see if i can convert a Xperia Z1 ROM to this one!
I tried and Odin fails. It says something about the signature. It's like trying to flash i9505g rom on i9505 wich have the same SoC.It's not possible.

Yeah, i can see the signature-problem.. Maybe we could just change the signature-files on a i9506g-rom!
That would be nice! But i think the Note 3 is more similar to the i9506. So it would be much easier to port a rom from that. I have no magic dev skills but my phone is ready for testing.
It won't work.
Hardware is completely different.
I9506 is similar to I9505 the same as similar to I9500
Don't look at Qualcomm Snapdragon name. SD600 and SD800 are different very much.
Don't waste your time for this. You will only get results varying from "can't boot" to "brick".
sorg.
Thats good to know! Thought they very almost the same.

Yeah, but perhaps if we get a CM for Note 3, that we can modify this instead..?

yep. CM from Note 3 can have good compatibility. But first you need is to get Kernel source code of I9506 and Note 3. Then you will need to transfer CM related changes from Note 3 kernel to I9506 kernel.
After that may be you will be able to boot CM. Not sure. I never worked with CM sources.
I wonder does Samsung contain anything device specific in the system portion of the image? The SD600/800 drivers would be in the kernel/boot portion no? Certainly on normal Linux you can transplant the hardware and only need to rebuild the kernel.

There are many device specific files in system image. There are many user-space device drivers. Also, Samsung doesn't make any HAL (hardware abstraction level) in their ROMs. Even devices with the same CPU have many incompatibilities in ROMs. For example RIL from Note 3 with SD800 doesn't work in E330S ROM, producing endless reboot cycles, although modem part of SD800 is inside SoC (unlike other SoCs).
Ah, better example: system image with Android 4.3 from I9506 doesn't fully work in E330S phone (camera doesn't work), although 4.2 system image worked fine. It's because development of these two models went by separate ways by (probably) separate development teams. I had to take some parts of i9506 kernel source to make E330S kernel compatible with I9506 system image.
I've try to flash the Note 3 Omega rom the phone works. The wifi and bluetooth do not turn on and the cellular network intermittent disconnect so I think if we can flash on a customized rom for note 3 that integrates libraries and drivers for the gt-i9506 it would be a good start.
/!\ Do not try to repeat what I did, my phone not at all want to connect to the cellular network even after reflash stock rom 4.3 with odin, phone boot, logo becomes dark we feel small vibration indicates that the boot is over and it stops there, after a while a message "system is not responding ..." then reboot. When I reflash with odin there is no error message, this is what is called playing with fire
Well, we have official Samsung sources for 4.3 (I9506XXUBML5).
Someone who have time to learn how to modify it with root and then compiling it would be easier task than try to modify other phones rom's.
Damn, I just baught this phone, I'm picking it up tomorrow.. Quite a bummer not to find any CM ROM's for it. Wellwell, maybe touchwiz will be fine with the good specs the phone has. I just love cyanogen so much
You guys think it will come eventually?

Sure hope so, i did the same "mistake" as you, thinking there's NO way there isn't any CM for this phone.. I think it's the last phone i would'nt have checked first before i bought it, but still, i should have!

Yeah me too. Thank god it's sooo fast and smooth! I hate all the bloatware tho, I think I will root it in a few weeks to remove most of it.

sorry to hear that your phone cannot boot... there is a price for trying and development anyway. you may get it fixed when there is compatible rom available

How can you make the E330S kernel work with i9506's 4.3 rom?

basically, kernels from E330S and I9506 are almost the same. On 4.3 ROM there is difference in Camera interface, so E330S kernel won't work with I9506 system image. But you can use source code from i9506 to compile kernel for E330S device.
Starting from 4.3, both i9506 and E330S use KNOX bootloader, thus you may expect some side effects after swapping kernel/system images. For best result i recommend to clean both kernel and system from KNOX.
I still use old 4.2.2 bootloader which is not infected by knox. With this bootloader you cannot use any stock 4.3 kernel. You have to compile kernel without TIMA authentification to be able to boot it with 4.2.2 bootloader.
Thus, i cannot tell you much info about stock kernels from 4.3 ROMs. Some users report about non-working WiFi if you flash stock i9506 kernel on E330S device. But you may flash kernel, system and cache from i9506 to E330S - it will boot at least.
Hello all, just curious... Has anyone started work on any custom roms for the Sprint Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7" yet? I suppose I should ask if anyone is working on porting TWRP or CWM recovery yet? I dont know enough about porting or have the time or the system requirements to do such a thing myself, unfortunately, otherwise I wouldve hopped to already. If there is anything I can do to help someone who is working on it, I'd be more than happy to help.
Hi all,
I just found my old Nexus 7 (2012 model) in a dresser drawer and decided to bring it up to speed. Currently it is running what appears to be a stock (maybe debloated) 4.4.2 with root and multirom. Recovery is TWRP for multirom. I was using multirom to run Ubuntu just for kicks, but have lost interest in that project, plus it now appears to no longer be supported. Now what I want to do is just flash one of the nougat based roms and call it good. When I try to add nougat as a second rom I get errors relating to E: not existing, it then deletes everything that just started to install. Posts I've seen in other hardware forums point to maybe the install script being wrong for multiboot. Is there any weight to this idea?
I want to run one of the new roms as a secondary first to see how well it works before flashing it for good. Am I missing something stupid here? I haven't messed with any of this stuff since I switched to Verizon and could really use some help.
I don't really need the multiboot option, but since I've gained it I'm a little slow to want to give it back up. Would it be easier for me to just reload the bootloader, recovery, etc, take it back to stock and start over?

Is the support of Multiroms dead or do they plan a patch for nougat later when it get more mainstream? I am currently running dirty unicorn 7.0 since I just got my screen and would like to have older build for compatibility issue.

If you wan Android 7 on your Nexus 7 2010 you can't use MultiROM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2011403&page=316
Without MultiROM you can use this Android 7 ROM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7/development/rom-lineageos-14-1-nexus-7-2012-t3530261
Want to find a fix to all custom ROM's bootlooping on my SM-J320FN (did not bootloop before)
[
or alternatevly, i was wondering if modifying a some samsung galaxy SM-J320[something] nougat rom, to work on SM-J320FN would be possible (it has only android5.1.1 (lollipop) stock rom as far as im aware and i have searched quite a lot).
]
The thing is, i have the SM-J320FN (twrp and rooted) and for a while i ran various custom roms (based on nougat) on it with no problems. But then about a year ago it bootlooped on resurrection remix (which i had ran with not many problems for 1/2year). Then every custom rom (i tried RR, DotOS, ViperOS and more) began to give me a bootloop, only flashing the stock rom booted.
I wiped and formated everything i could, tried same country stock rom that i had originally and a different country one (thinking maybe the custom roms were not happy with something inside the stock rom that it was flashed after, but logically it does not seem even possible, as before flashing the custom one, the old one is wiped), but custom rom's just did not boot anymore. I could not log the boot either because it had boot animation but nothing showed in adb, i guess it did not get so far that it could connect with adb.
I suspect this may be caused by my camera not working (some hardware part most likely got damaged), because i think wiping my phone completely and flashing stock rom with Odin should restore every software part on the phone thus it would have to be something with hardware that's causing custom roms to bootloop, how else could the problem persist (i obviously might be wrong).
I don't remember when exactly the camera stopped working but i know for a fact that i had a custom rom at the same time, and it did not bootloop (for some time at least) and im also curious why this has not ever stopped the stock rom from booting if it is the case.
So basically what i wish i could do are two things. Firstly find what makes the stock roms able to boot correctly opposed to the custom ones. And secondly implement this to a similar models higher version rom or a custom rom (Nougat). Come to think of this, it seems a useful step to look how did the people that made these Nougat based rom's for SM-J320FN modify the rom so that it could run on it, the source code is open after all.
Why i want to have a higher android version on my phone? Because my countrys corona close contact detection app supports only 6.0 or higher and my banking app recently notified me that they will soon end support for my android version too (this is the real pusher for me as i use it very frequently and there is not really an alternative). And it would be nice to have some other apps too, that not compatible with Lollipop.
And yes, i know, just buying a newer phone would solve all my problems But im a minimalistic (and without money) person. The fact that i own a phone that is still working (or fixable) stops me mentally from buying a new one. Also as one would guess, i like tinkering with this kind of stuff (i study CS currently) and building a rom myself for my phone sounds like a cool and challenging project, as i have not done anything like this before (maybe this will help me: [guide]how to build/modify roms for samsung devices [7.0/6.0.1/maybe more]).
Anyways, i kinda got carried away with this post. But for now im tired and have to sleep so i'll just post this and will come back later to read this over, fix some mistakes (not a native english speaker) and add things i maybe missed.
If anyone read this through, im impressed and if you have the knowledge/time to answer then i Thank You in advance!
i need help i tried to install re dreaux but my phone bootloop on touch wiz custom rom so how can i fix that
