[Q] Root 5.0.1 with SRSRoot - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is this true? Supposedly with this program for windows the official 5.0.1 lollipop rom N910FXXU1BOB4 can be rooted (maybe without tripping knox???)

when I said "without tripping knox" i meant: without increasing the knox counter to 1 and thus invalidating the warranty.
So if it works it could be the first method to root preserving the warranty.
I haven't tried though.
Anyone?

does it says anywhere that it won't trip knox?
i've looked but haven't seen anything about that.
so why would you think about something like that? if it would be possible it would've been huge news everywhere
so i think it's safe to assume you thought completely wrong about that it won't trip knox :good:

Dear sxjg23. Be our guest and give it a try.
Please let us know the result.

Nowhere to read if it don't trip Knox. It looks the same as the Kingo root server based method. My advice : root with Chainfire's solution via Odin. Yes, it trips Knox but it'a a safe and proven method.

I've tried both methods of SRSRoot, which says it's rooted but actually it's not. Some apps (root checker, titanium backup) complain it's not rooted.
Maybe I'm doing something bad.
I'll use the well-proven cf-root method instead.

Rooting SGS4

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am really confused as always I used to find the thread for rooting my SGS4 but with the new firmware upgrade (Russia region), I can not find how to root it, and I am not upgrading it as it is important for me. Specification I am attaching (from similar updraded phone already) .
it should be PDA: I9500XXUFNF4CSC: I9500SERFNE3 MODEM: I9500XXUFNA6 (I can only find with PDA I9500XXUFNB4 in this site).
I would certainly appreciate your guidance in this matter, as only after being sure I had the needed .tar and odin, as I always root it with ODIN being the simplest and safest way, I always upgrade via KIES.
I was directed to post here.
Thank You in advance
Just use the normal rooting.
cf auto root or towelroot.
Firmware doesn't matter.
I rooted mine with towelroot

Use towelroot if you don't want to lose your warranty (because you will void konx )

knox flag 0x1 is a e-fuse which burns out after the software is mofidied... there is no way known of setting it back to 0x0.
Here in Poland, there was a discussion about knox flag 0x1 and warrinty with Samsung officials, as the flag is also triggered when trying to downgrade your original firmware, example from 4.4.1 to 4.3.... and on tweeter Samsung Poland stated that the warranty is not lost when the flag is 0x1.. but is better to have it untouched...
Thank you for the explanatiom as such it means it does not harm the phone or prevent future upgrades? If so I prefer to root as I had done before. I have no intention of downgrading but surely would like to continue upgrading. I always use my rooted phone with Knox frozen

Actually I had rooted it before with ODIn already when it had 4.4.2 again, so it is already triggered? Is there a way to check it? Also if it does not prevent future updates I prefer to continue with ODIN

You can check by entering to download mode...
One more question and really thank u for u r time.
Will it effect Knox tripping for the future updates? Besides warranty voiding does it have any other repercussions?

It will only affect your ability to downgrade......you won't be able to with official firmware. Upgrading is still possible and the Knox flag being triggered will not affect you upgrading but will never re-set the trigger.
Thank you so much

[Q] Question: Knox

Hi all
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question (please refrain from flaming if it isn't) but my question is:
I've rooted (which tripped Knox), and there are a few images that I'd stored in Knox that I want to retrieve. Is there a way for me to get the images now that I am unable to get into Knox?
Thanks in advance,
Nate

No. If you used even 30 seconds to try search an answer to your question, you'd figured it out.

Unfortunately, all Knox apps are bound to e-fuse, which is "burned" now.
Best disable now all Knox processes in the shell.
Forget the pics, pity

I have had a brief look around the forum and Google and have found ways to reset the Knox counter but it involves wiping the rom (downgrading, etc) and losing root which I'm not inclined to do. I'll be patient and wait and see if there is a method that comes about that would let me reset it without losing root.
Thanks for all the advice

Root S5 Without Tripping Knox ??

Hi guys
As some of you know I've just bought a S5 and want to root it.
I touched on this in my last thread but thought it was way off topic and that i should start a new thread.
There's plenty of threads about this but they are either old or speak of particular models of s5 or include installing a custom firmware.
What i would like to know (i got there in the end....lol) is there a way to do a root only (without installing custom firmware or recovery) with out tripping knox?
I think I've looked everywhere but cant find any guides.
I'm in the uk and my s5 is the SM-G900F on android 4.4.2.
Also is it worth even trying to root it when 5.0 is just around the corner?
Anyone

Just install this app, and hit the button! Worked very well for me.

Odin has always tripped knox.
Towelroot should work with 4.4.2. is worth a try, the worst thing that could happen is it kills the app and tells you that you've been compromised.

I read that it was ok to use odin without tripping knox if you flashed an official Samsung firmware.
Ill look into towelroot again
So if it kills the app and says I've been compromised, what do I do then?
It will just try to kill the app. But if that happens, I don't know of any way to get around knox.
And this forum is where experienced people like me just come to raise my post count so I can post where the real action happens.

So it wont actually trip knox and I can just reboot the phone to get rid of the message?

So where does the real action happen on here ?
Because I've made a few threads on here now but I don't seem to get many replies in any of them
Yeah, just hold the power button to reboot.
The real action here happens in the Unified Development section. Lots of activity going on right now.
My phone has just took the 5.0 update so I guess I've got no chance of rooting it without tripping knox now

Is it possible to root S7 edge without tripping Knox?

Sorry if it has been asked before, but I couldn't find it through search.
So the question is, is it possible to root S7 Edge without tripping knox? Even a temporary root that doesn't trip knox would be acceptable (even though the phone will lose root after restarting).
Thanks!

Really? This has been answered a million times already . . .
Rooting AND custom ROM will trip KNOX, and you can't use i.e. Samsung Pay anymore...

What model? G950F/FD? G950U? There is a very simple way to root G950U/G950W devices already in existence. It's called SamFail and is listed with an accompanying rom in the threads section.

Sadly, currently there is no way of rooting Exynos S8 without tripping knox..
Unfortunately as mentioned above and beyond there is no way currently without tripping Knox. Sadly, I use Samsung Pay alot and like the idea of keeping that option hence no rooting as long as this device is my DD.

A question if anyone can help me.
I really need to Root my Galaxy S8 (SM-G950F) cause i need to try to recover some photos and most apps to recover need the root done.
I know that root trips Knox, but if i install an official firmware after been tripped, will phone get back to normal, or it will tripped forever??
Thanks

It physically trips knox warranty, so if it’s tripped once, you can’t recover it unless you replace motherboard.
