WiFi hotspot dropping while on Bluetooth? - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is this a common issue for the Verizon model? I'm working with someone to figure out why this is happening. I called Verizon and they enabled VoLTE on his account, but that didn't solve it. Using speakerphone while talking to someone also drops the hotspot. Using the headphones that come with the phone do not. Any similar issues or tricks we can try? I'm very familiar with Android (and this forum) although I'm not usually a Samsung person.

No mobile data while making a phone call?

Both mine and my wife's 6p's are not able to access the internet while a call is in progress. My phone is unlocked & rooted, however my wife's is complete stock so I know that can't be the issue. I've also tried disabling the "enhanced" calling with LTE under cellular networks on both devices and this doesn't fix the issue, either. We're on Verizon, for what it's worth. Is anyone else experiencing this? If so what carrier are you on? Thanks!
EDIT: Fixed it for anyone else who comes across a similar issue: after going into my Verizon online and adding the Advanced calling 1.0 feature to my line, then rebooting my phone, and waiting a few minutes, things automagically started working.

Just bumping because I had the same issue and this fixed it.
Thanks
Hi, I'm having the same issue with a stock Nexus 6P on Verizon. However, I can't find Advanced Calling 1.0 anywhere. I found 'HD Voice' on Verizon and added it to my plan, and made sure the 'Enhanced 4G LTE Mode' is on and it still doesn't work. I've rebooted many times, no luck. Any ideas? I read somewhere that it may depend on what kind of tower you are on, does anyone have any more information about that or what I can do to make this work? I also still have unlimited data and I use my hotspot all the time, so this is a real problem. Thanks!
I am bumping this thread. I have unlimited data under the Verizon grandfathered plan. Does turning this feature on count as a change to my account and possibly mess with my unlimited data status?
Anyone else with a similar problem? I am also using an unlimited data plan under Verizon. I have the feature turned on and still have data dropout every time I am on a call. This has been present ever since the 6.0.1 update for me.....

Verizon WiFi Calling inside Advanced Calling 2.0&/or T-mobile Volte work w/ Nexus 6

Verizon WiFi Calling inside Advanced Calling 2.0&/or T-mobile Volte work w/ Nexus 6
inquiring minds want to know.......................................
My understanding is the the only way Wifi calling works on Verizon is to download and use the Verizon Messages+ app. Pretty lame but I think that is the current state of things. I would love to be wrong on this.
Some links that talk about it:
http://www.zdnet.com/article/lagging-its-peers-verizon-adds-wi-fi-calling-but-theres-a-catch/
http://www.spotonnetworks.com/verizon-enables-wifi-calling-with-a-few-caveats/
http://www.inquisitr.com/2577556/verizon-wireless-finally-offers-wi-fi-calling/
I find a lot of reports that folks are using Verizon Messages for wi-fi calls on the N6P. That's actually not that bad of a concept.
I'll have to try it when I get some time. I can't find any kind of definitive guide to making it work, but it seems possible, at least for MAKING calls. Unless I'm misreading all of this stuff.
You additionally have to go online and enable Advanced Calling 1.0 on your account (the same Advanced Calling that lets you do voice and data at the same time) -- I think that without this turned on, you can't do Wi-Fi calling at all either.

T-Mobile Use

Anyone using G4 with T-Mobile? If so, what is your experience?

No wi-fi calling feature is a deal breaker for me - Motorola/Lenova definitely losing lots of potential sales. If the feature is built into MM then why not have an easy way to turn it on?
I'm on T-Mobile and like the others have said, only snag is no wifi calling. For me its no problem as I use the 100mins unlimited data (5GB on 4gLte plan) and if I'm running low on mins just use hangouts to make calls free in usa.
So far I have had zero problems with service and all sms/texts are working fine too.
the settings hook to enable it exists on the G4 if you search for it under activity launcher, but it's probable that the kernel and/or modem code won't allow it, as the toggle just turns itself back off. i wonder how hard it would be to port the necessary functionality from another moto phone to the G4. anyone have any ideas?

G6 delayed calls/sms

I'm hoping this is the right place to ask, haven't posted here before, but I'm stumped. I recently upgraded to the LG G6, it's on Bell in Canada. Loving the phone, but having one big issue. When I'm connected to WiFi, I miss calls and texts, it's not consistent but often enough that it's a problem. As soon as I disconnect from WiFi I get any delayed texts and voicemail notifications for any calls I had missed. I'm just running stock, and these are the steps I've tried so far:
-changed sim, nope
-factory reset, nope
-tried sim in another new G6, nope
-turned off VoLTE in call settings, nope
-cannot find a WiFi calling setting or would have disabled as well
-checked with Bell and LG and both say they're unaware of any related issues and advised wait for patch.
Anyone have any other suggestions that may help? I really like the phone, not a Samsung fan and I'll wait for updates if need be, but maybe it's a quick fix in the settings somewhere. *fingers crossed*
Thanks!
WiFi calling setting is in the call option inside your system settings.
Could be your WiFi/router isn't good enough to handle that.
Sounds like a port forwarding issue quite honestly. Probably a Wi-Fi router issue more than the phone issue.

I don't have a WiFi calling option in my call settings, it should be directly under the volte toggle I thought, but can't find it anywhere. And happens on multiple WiFi networks. My home network itself is getting about 50mps download speed when I run speed test on my phone on WiFi.

That's very strange that you don't have a WiFi calling option. Is WiFi calling a region specific feature as well??
If I'm not mistaken, I think it's carrier and device specific. I checked through my Bell plan and I don't see it listed as a feature, but I know the G6 supports it. But I checked everywhere and can't find anything pertaining to it. Odd.

Maybe that is the issue. Perhaps the LG Software is trying to accept calls and texts through the WiFi signal but something that your carrier has done with the blocking off WiFi calling on their end is causing the bug. I'm not too savy with the way Android and it's coding works.
VoWiFi is carrier specific feature. though LG G6 supports it , carrier can disable the feature as you bought phone from him. you can go to hidden menu (277634#*# or *#546368#*872# , here 872 is the phone model , replace it with yours) and turn off VoWiFi.

Questions on using Samsung unlocked S8 on Verizon

I have read a bunch of threads all over and done some searches but cannot seem to find any clear definitive answers on a few things. I am looking at grabbing the Samsung unlocked S8 and want to know for sure if anyone can confirm what does and does not work on VZ with that model? I am pretty sure of the following, but anyone who has one on VZ and can help me out would be greatly appreciated.
- WiFi Calling does NOT work on VZ with the unlocked version. I am pretty sure based on what I read on this.
- VoLTE and HD calling DO work on VZ. Again, pretty sure from what I read but it is hard to find definitive answers anywhere.
- Any app based WiFi calling would still work (so using stuff like Signal or any app that uses data to make calls could make WiFi calls even if the VZ network WiFi calling does not work?)
- Video calling DOES/DOES not work? Cannot find any answer to this.
- Voicemail still gives you notifications/works like normal? I think I read someone say that Visual Voicemail does not work, so the app that lets you just tap and see and instantly listen to VM would not work and you would have to dial *86? Not sure here and clarification is appreciated.
- Any other significant issues or things that don't work or are affected that I have missed?
I think it is pretty bad that phones can evolve with tech and you can get a phone several years and models newer than an older phone, but because one is carrier locked version, it has a ton of features that the newer phone can do, but won't because of carrier BS. Again, all help is appreciated. Thanks!
Visual voicemail does not work. HD calling works. I dont do wifi calling. I dont do video calling. I have unlimited data and mobile hotspot works flawless.

Did you decide to purchase the unlocked S8 for use on Verizon? Has it been a good experience? I'm thinking of buying one since I have the grandfathered unlimited data plan and I'd like to be able to use the mobile hotspot without having to root. Although I don't travel too much, having the option to use my phone in another country by popping in a local SIM is definitely an attractive feature. Thanks in advance!
