This program could be what you're looking for: http://www.vijay555.com/index.php?Releases:VJVolubilis
It's developed by vijay555 of this XDA-forum!
It creates shortcuts in the start > programs menu, to toggle BlueTooth, WiFi, IrdA and in the latest version it even toggles Phone Radio. You can put the shortcut tot Bluetooth toggle and wifi toggle as an icon on the todayscreen usining any program launcher or you can put them in the system tray using PHM traylaunch as i have done. Only nag is that you have to switch wifi on from the Commmanager only once before the shortcut works. Then no problem until the next soft-reset.

thank you i'll give that a shot now
I use this tool to turn/off Bluetooth for my headset in the car. Its a really usefully little helper!
You can even edit the .ink files so that you do NOT get a status message on the screen ( which I would have to click away to see my today screen again ).
i installed the cab and have found the shortcuts, however i get an error when i tap any of them- any ideas ? Also how do i intergrate your cool icons to the shortcuts ?
thanks,
malty
maltloaf: you may be getting errors because you installed to a non default location. There are warnings I hope on my site, but I've been too busy to write a custom installer, so the provided shortcuts are hard coded for English default installation. If you change location, they don't work. But just edit them and you should be able to change the location so they point to the right place.
I've (hopefully) added GPRS control as well, as of yesterday, so can finally re-visit Wizard wifi and get it fixed as a next step to global domination, bwaa haa haa...
The status messages will also be tarted up as an upcoming update.
To change icons - search my username for the word "completeness" for various posts.

ok can see the link working now i installed it on the device rather than the storage card. I'm having a little trouble getting a working link to your ready made shortcuts in phm traylaunch.

how to change the icons:
step 1:
Find the icons you would like to use. My bluetooth icon comes from a program called CicleBT, which is also a Bluetooth switcher but has an annoying confirmed-message. i got it here: http://www.winmobileapps.com/device/pocketpc/cbt/cbt.aspx
My wifi-icon comes from the wifitray.exe file in the \windows diretory.
Step 2:
Modify the shortcuts (also to redirect them to the locationwhere you installed Vijay's VJVolubilis program.
The shortcuts are placed in the folder:
\windows\startmenu\programs\vijay555\VJVolubilis\
I changed the BT-toggle shortcut from:
73#"\Program Files\vijay555\VJVolubilis\VjVolubilis.exe" -status -bluetoggle
to: (i have a Dutch rom so my Program Files folder is called Programmabestanden)
73#"\Programmabestanden\vijay555\VJVolubilis\VjVolubilis.exe" -status -bluetoggle?\programmabestanden\CicleBT\CicleBT.exe,-101
(where after the questionmark is the location of the icon)
and changed the wifi-toggle shortcut from:
73#"\Program Files\vijay555\VJVolubilis\VjVolubilis.exe" -status -wifitoggle
to:
73#"\Programmabestanden\vijay555\VJVolubilis\VjVolubilis.exe" -status -wifitoggle?\windows\wifitray.exe,-105
(You could also remove "-status" from the above strings so that you don;t get a confirmation message.)
you are a star, i just go my wifi icon working perfectly using your instructions. Thank you.
maltloaf: what are you using for your wifi control app?
V
PS anyone tried the GPRS yet? It's untested AFAIK... I'd like to know if it works
@ vijay555
Hi! I'm also using VJVolubilis and i like it very much! I have 2 shortcuts in my bottomtray to toggle Bluetooth and Wifi. (see above screenshot)
I tested the GPRS toggle and this also works like a charm!
But i'm having some problems with the radio toggle: when radio is on and i click on a shortcut to switch it off (- radiotoggle) it switches perfectly to flightmode. But when i then click again on the shortcut (- radiotoggle) it tries to switch the radio back on again but i get an antenna-symbol with a explanationmark, No Service! This problem also accures when using the command -radioon, but does does not appear when using the build in (clicking the network icon an selecting flightmode off) way.
Furthermore i tried -AGon and -AGoff commands and they also work fine!!! I have paired my bluetooth headset to my device a couple weeks ago. When i now click a shortcut -AGon it turns on Bluetooth and i get instandly the sound over my (mono) headset (I do not have to push any further buttons to make it work). Soundquality is not so good but that surely has to do with my lowbudget headset! Also -AGoff works just fine! My question: does this mean that when i buy a stereo bluetooth headset the sound would be much better?
So the only problem i ran into was to switch the radio back on, that doesn't work for me!
My configuration:
- T-Mobile MDA Vario
- Latest version VJVolubilis (downloaded today april 12th at 09.00 am)
- ROM version: Qtek 2.18.7.6 NLD
- ROM date: 2/22/2006
- Radioversion: 02.07.10
- Protocolversion: 413.1.03
- Windows Mobile 5.1.195 (build 14847.2.0.0)
- Headset: Cellink Mini Bluetooth Headset BTHS 6023-F
- Not using Voice Command
1-2tje: I'll look into it. I have the same headset as you, I think it's a generic - mine was branded "Medion", but I know other shops that sell it
Not sure why the radio on off wouldn't work. I'll look into it. You're not using a sim switcher or anything are you?
Has anyone else tried this on WM5? I've only tried radio switching on WM2003 and the WM5 Emulator.
Regarding the stereo bluetooth, the sound works in a different way and is a much higher quality. Read some reviews though, some apps don't work well with the limited bluetooth bandwidth, but it will certainly sound better then the little headset

No not using any sim switcher or something like it. It would be nice if radio toggle would work
I created some icons to put in the traylaunch for your shortcuts. Maybe someone else is interested
The icons are in the attached toggleico.dll.

vijay555, or anyone, I'm using your VjVolubilis and VJDevicelock to turn off my wifi, turn on my bluetooth, and lock my device before I ride my motorcycle. I'm using two links, one for VjVolubilis and one for VJDevicelock but would like to do it all with one button. Is there a way to execute 2 programs in one lnk file or some other method to accomplish this?
Thanks,
Mike
P.S. VjVolubilis will not turn my wifi on for the first time ater a reset but works fine for on, off and toggle after I use the connection manager to turn it on. I have a cingular 8125 with the new Cingular_RUU_WIZARD_217_AKU2_WWE rom.
holmanm: I only have a Universal (and Magician), not a Wizard, so I'm stuck when it comes to testing on that hardware. But I'm trying to work on a more generic solution, not hardware specific.
To execute more then one app, use mortscript, or if your Japanese is slightly more fluent then mine, ExecMulti. No, I can't tell you how to use it
1-2tje - that's a great solution! Looks cool - any chance of a bigger screenshot though, for context?
V
Just to clarify re: the GPRS function, does this totally disable GPRS? At the moment I have a dummy GPRS connection set up as my default (to stop GPRS accidentally being used when I'm surfing over a wifi connection), and switch back to the 'real' GPRS connection when I need to use it. Obviously, though, it's a bit of a PITA and having a 'disable GPRS' option (without disabling the phone) would be really handy....
large image with my custom made icons:
I'm not happy yet with the GPRS and Radio icons. I 'borrowed' the Bluetooth and Wifi icons from other programs but the GPRS and Radio i have to create myself and that's not so easy. I would really like to have "interactive" icons such as Comm Manager icon. Where you see a red cross when disabled en the icon turns green when enabeld! Any idea how to do this? Is it for a part programming or is it just a maater of putting different icons in a dll file? I suppose there is a programming aspect because the program has to know wich icon to use. Do you have any ideas about this?
Webreaper: no, hopefully it's just the same as tapping the GPRS icon and perssing connect/disconnect. It should use your default GPRS connection. I haven't made it disable GPRS (yet).
1-2tje: Nice shot, thanks.
Just an idea - you can rip the original icons from the OS, they're in shellapp.96.dll or something like that. I've got some posts on the issue somewhere.
What you're suggesting would be fairly tough to implement. I could make VJVolubilis return a return/error value to indicate if a particular function is enabled/disabled (eg Wifi is on = 1, off = 0). However, returning several values (eg bluetooth, wifi etc) would be confusing. But either way, you would then need a tray launcher app able to respond to this error value and update the tray icon accordingly. I don't know of any app that can do this.
Theoretically I could build tray icons into VJVolubilis, but I think for now it goes against the idea of what the app is to me (a tool to be used with other launchers). I may consider building in an interface and other interface options later.
This is a confusing possiblity, but you could, I think, use something like mortscript. This would work thus:
Make a mortscript to:
1. Launch VJVolubilis -wifion.
2. Use a taskkiller to kill a VJTrayLaunch icon.
3. Launch VJTrayLaunch to ANOTHER mortscript to launch VJVolublis -wifioff.
Also making a matching companion for the OFF version.
So the idea: launch VJTrayLaunch shortcut to mortscript for ON version. The ON version would do wifion, and remove the old icon, and launch a new icon. So clicking the icon removes old icon and adds a new one.
Complicated, and might not work, but could work!

But how do you toggle the GPRS connection with VJVolubilis ?
What is the command line or how do you do this ?

Like the idea of the today plugin. Gonna try this out.
is this mean we can listen to radio without using headset?
Cool,
Giving it a go now, not sure if it will ever replace my beloved SiriusWM5 but I will give it a shot. yet another feather in the cap for Winmo. A2DP should be universally supported.
On the today plugin how about adding the ability to scroll if the song text goes off the edge of the plugin?
I went in to today settings to see if there was any option for the today plugin. When I went back to the today screen the plugin was frozen except for the stop and play button. Name of the radio station no longer showed and you could not tap on the radio to open the program. I had to remove the plugin from the today screen and add it back in for it to work again. (happens every time I do this)
Make the radio button open the program all of the time not just when you are first opening it. This way I have a quick way to get to the main player.
Add skinning to the plugin. This is a must in my opinion.
will try it right away. thanks resco papi
Hopefully someone will skin this. Would love to see a Diamond skin.
It's about time, thanks.

oh i c... u can use the controls on the headphones now for forward/back stop/play... ook cool
what other changes have been made other than the today plugin?
not sure if you care about feedback right now or not but the today plugin is way too big to be feasable to stay on the today screen... would be nice if it was more compact (about one line or 2 line max) to just show the song title and some basic navigation
This works well. I downloaded a .pls file from a local station and it works great. Doing this via WIFI is a battery killer tough

It would be nice if you made the font color adjustable in the skin. I've tried about every xml color code without success.
Also, I nice feature might be to scroll a welcome message at startup on the bottom screen. Something like "Welcome to Resco Pocket Radio Version 1.8" or something to that effect. A lot of stand alone mp3 players do that.

Yes, A2DP is supported "universally", but not AVRCP (remote control). The Pocket Radio also support AVRCP on the iPAQ 21x (I tried more applications which support AVRCP but it doesn't work on this iPAQ, except WMPlayer and now Pocket Radio).

We will add ability to scroll text also on the today plugin.
Now I tried go to settings and back to the today screen and realized that Radio plugin go to the unexpected state. System checks plugin dll when you go to the settings and maybe also call some function. I don't know why it freeze and play/stop button stay active. This button have to be active only when the radio is opened and "communicating" with the plugin. I am going to debug it... Thanks for the bug repport.
Radio button (icon) will open program every time when it isn't opened yet. If it is not active The Pocket Radio should be runnig (in the background). When you close the Pocket Radio then the radio icon will be active again. Also when you stop the radio then after 3 minutes pocket radio will be closed and the radio icon on the today plugin will be active.
The Radio Today Plugin is already skinnable, but in the beta version there isn't options dialog where you will be able to change the skin. Now it is done and there will be soon final version.
Does anyone know if it is possible to set this up with tzones hack and instructions how. Thanks for anyones help.

Thanks for the reply.
I asked for the radio button to work all of the time because one might need to open the main program to make changes. It would be nice to have a dedicated button to do this instead of having to go through start/programs and then tap on the radio icon. Call me lazy.
Good to know about skinning. Thanks.

SOME SPECIAL NOTES FOR S32F0 USERS:
NavRadio cannot be fully integrate into the system without patching the carService.apk and to do this you need root access (eg. use Malaysk rom)
NavRadio can work without this patch but it require the original radio app to be running in backgroud and some weird behaviour can happen..
To patch the service i added an option in NavRadio settings that enable and disable the patch anytime you need.
Once the patch is enabled, you just need to reboot and everything will work better.
The only one thing that I still need to work out are the steering wheel commands Next/Prev that right now change the stations saved by the original app and not the NavRadio+ ones.

------------------------- SOME TIPS ----------------------
TOGGLE SCREEN NORMAL/FULL:
- Double Click on the station information toggle fullscreen on/off.
NORMAL SCREEN:
- Long press on the station information popup the "ADD Station" dialog window if the station is not in your station list. If it's already in your list, it will focus the relative station button.
- Long press on a station button bring up the "EDIT Station" dialog window
- Single press on screen arrows <> does a small frequency step fwd/back
- Long Press on screen arrows does a quick search fwd/back
FULLSCREEN MODE:
- A Single press of the arrows <> switch to next/previous station
-A Long press on station information(center of the screen) bring up the "EDIT Station" dialog window.
- In interface settings you can remove the big frequency in background if a logo is available.
- In settings you can hide status bar, activate the clock and a speed gauge
STEERING WHEELS CONTROLS:
- The steering wheels commands act exactly in the same way as the fullscreen arrows, they just need to be setup in the correct way in carsettings application.
FAVORITE LIST:
- The FAV list is the result of merging FM and AM favorites, so you can have both frequencies in the same list.
- FAV stations can be edited within the fav list but cannot be added. You need to be on fm or am list to add a station and set it to favs.
- Deleting the FAV list will just remove the fav flag from the fm/am stations but will not delete them.
- Deleting AM/FM list it will delete the FAV list too.
LOGOS:
- you can use your own station logos, you just need to know where you have them stored and browse for them when editing a station.
- To get the stations Logos from the app you have to set the nationality of the logos in the interface menu, download and extract them.
Once they are extracted you have to edit each saved station to assign the logo image to it.
- The automatic assignment of the Logos is based on the RDS id of the radio stations (pi code) and the search of the logo by RDS name.
The first method (by id) is faster and more precise but it needs that the name of the logo contain the picode of the station and for this purpose i renamed them for some of the available countries. Of course i cannot make them all and the functionality of this method depend of the availability of correctly named logo images for your country.
The second method (by name) is less accurate and it work comparing the RDS name with all available logos. If the rsult of the comparison is 100% correct the logo is autoamatically assigned. If the result are more then one logo, a dialog window popup asking you to choose it.
For USA and Canada the assignment of the logo is is done by searching the frequency of the station in the logo file name.
AF (Alternative Frequencies) handling: (Doubleclick to switch between stored AF)
AF service allows the radio tuner to tune in to an alternative frequency when the signal becomes too weak. The minimum level signal can be set in factory settings (Auto Search Stop) and has been found
that around 30 db is the best choice.
To improve even more this service I added an automatic storing of the alternative frequencies so that every time a new frequency is received, it's added in a list.
After an autoscan some radio stations can be found on different frequencies, NavRadio+ have an option (in Settings/radio) to automatically merge the frequencies in just one button populating the AF list
The frequencies available in this list can be selected using the station editor or switched one by one DOUBLECLICKING on the station button.
NOTES:
I'm the only developer of the app and I work on it every single day for some hours a day.
I try my best to develope the app at best of my possibilities and I wish at evey release that it is bug and crash free.
This is very hard to achieve, even if I have some very good friends that help me testing it.
I'm really thankful to them for their help and support.
Thank everybody who beleive in my work and thanks for understanding.

If you are running the full Malaysk ROM, then do the following when there is no sound in Navradio. Close Navradio, open the stock music player, then close it and open again Navradio. If this solve your issue, then report it back to Malaysk. I know that they are working on this problem already highlighted by other users.

Thank you for your answer.
When patched carService is turned off, the original radio app plays properly. there is no sound in the NavRadio+ application. The NavRadio+ application starts when you press the icon for the first time.
When patched carService is enabled in the original application, the radio has no sound. The NavRadio+ application starts only after the second press of the icon. After starting the NavRadio+ application, the sound works properly. The sound disappears when I go to the launcher main window or to another application. After returning to NavRadio+ there is still no sound. I have to close NavRadio+ completely and reopen it - sound is working fine again. Additionally, after pressing the equalizer in the bottom menu, nothing happens, after deleting saved stations and turning on the scan, it does not add any stations.

With the patch enabled, the original radio app should not work!
The patch replace the original radio app in the carService with NavRadio.
So you shoul drun only NavRadio and kill the original radio app.
Are you running Malaysk rom? Full or light?
Can you post a video please?

Did you update to the last Full 1.1.3 ? Did you try to put Navradio in the list of app "that has problem with sound" ? (Under settings -> Mod Settings -> Sound Settings if I am not wrong).
Regarding the double press on Navradio icon to make it start, it happen sometimes also to me.
