Don't ask questions in "General". Questions are asked in "Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting".
Good luck
And now for some actual help........
As far as I know, CF Root and Odin are your only option with lollipop.......
Be aware though, this WILL trip KNOX and void your warranty.....
See this thread for details.........

Hello Galaxy S4 users.
I recently bought a Galaxy S4 Black Edition.
After going through all Knox and warranty related posts I was not able to make up my mind to root.
So I called up the Samsung Customer Care for clarifying my doubt's.
The representative cleared that Knox has nothing to do with warranty(at least on India) and even if the counter increases to 1 warranty will not be lost.
Only if device status is unofficial then only we loose warranty and flashing stock firmware through Odin resets it to official(telling through personal experience with Tab 3 on 4.2.2)
I have no intention of using Knox and so want to root it.
Yet I would like to know if there is any method to root 4.4.2 without increasing the counter.
Thanks in advance.

You can use 'towelroot' by geohot for rooting 4.4.2 firmware without tripping KNOX.

I already tried that.
Both version 1 and 2.
where as version 2 is said to root without rebooting the device yet my S4 gets rebooted but it doesn't gets rooted.

The firmware installed on your S4 is not compatible yet.. what version do you have?
NC1

You can try to ask on the official towelroot thread if anyone has successfully got it working on that firmware.. or instead, you can email geohot for help
I was wondering if the Towelroot method works for Samsung Galaxy S5 (sm-g900t) and whether or not it will trip Knox. I was never able to find a clear answer to this. Thanks!

Tried towelroot on my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900T, running 5.0, but got the message "This phone isn't currently supported"
it can work
I rooted my Sm-900t using towelroot but you have to downgrade your kernel or bootloder I believe from NK2 (or whichever one fixed the vulnerability that made towelroot work) to NH5 or to a version earlier than august or july 2014 update using ODIN. There was a zip file with all of the components you need to downgrade, root, then upgrade back to the latest build. Search sm-g900t towelroot workaroud or something. This is for kitkat I dont know if jt would work on lollipop. Actually now that I think of it cf-autoroot-klte through Odin rooted my t mobile s 5 no problem. It did trip knox tho while the towelroot method above did not. I will look on my desktop to see if I still have the zip file and get back to you. if not I'm sure it's still on this website somewhere. good luck.

Hey guys,
So I'm pretty much a noob to rooting android things. Before I rooted a LG-P769 (which now doesn't work anymore), and I decided that I wanted to root my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 WiFi model. I have successfully rooted with the towelroot thing, and my KNOX WARRANTY VOID is 0x0. I am running Android 4.4.2 KitKat, and I now don't know how to put a recovery on it xD. I have already installed SuperSU. What do I do? Also I have disabled KNOX through SuperSU, and it said successful.
Sincerely,
thedroidman.

I saw a post on android central and a guy said he was able to root his note 3 with out tripping knox, he said that it didn't trip because he didn't flash a custom rom, and since SuperSU promps you if you want to disable knox when you download it. So my question is do you need a custom rom to root the galaxy s8 and does SuperSU actually stop knox from tripping?
Here is the link to that forum post that I saw:

Bro it was the first knox now it's smarter. You flash something that is not Samsung and your warranty is gone.
