Hello, i would like to ask the developers on xda if they know aproximate the time Root will be ready on Official Stock Lollipop Lg g3 (NOT lollipop rom).
Your answer can help a lot of followers on xda that wanna keep LG G3 Official lollipop without installing any rom... Lots of ppl just searching and asking about Root on lollipop as it is.
Thx for your answers already.
Keep up the good wrok.
p.s. Plz don't say go back to kitkat root and install rom with lollipop and root --- we ask for the root of the official lollipop, thx.

Eta's are the biggest no-no on this site. These developers do this stuff out of the kindness of their hearts, aside from jobs and families. Asking for a time frame for any sort of development is a huge slap in the face of the devs. With that being said, all you can do is what you said already, go back to kit kat and flash a rooted lollipop rom, and be patient with the devs, as this is not their job.

Not sure what you meant by that, but you clearly asked for an eta of a root method. The only way you can have rooted lollipop is to downgrade and flash like you mentioned, and wait patiently for something to come up.

No, no one knows the time.
But it's definitely not before G4 is released. If there is a root exploit for LL, it lies in LG's services, and it would most likely apply to all LG phones running 5.0. Releasing something like that before the release of G4 and other 5.0 phones is a bad idea.

I don't think there would be further development on root on g3, (same w/ the bootloader) as we have already a working custom recovery... Just my opinion though... [emoji4]

Root Is Possible!
Hi Friends,
I am a fairly new owner of a D858HK (dual-SIM) variant of the LG G3. An update to Lollipop came in so I got interested.
Focusing instead on getting root and "bump'd" TWRP (custom recovery), I figured it out through the help of @autoprime and his thread.
I know there are a lot of developers who are able to "tear down" the official Lollipop firmware, pre-root it, and repackage/distribute it, however, the D858HK variant is not as widespread as the D855 so I had very little hopes for custom ROMs. So I documented everything that I have learned through reading the relevant threads, tested it on my LG G3 variant (with 100% success rate), and put up a thread to share it. You can check it here: click me!
I'm interested to know if this will work with other LG G3 variants. If it does, please let me know.
In the meantime, this finding got me interested in learning more. I'll probably start with the easy ones like pre-rooting and repackaging the stock firmware. Who knows, I might eventually progress to where I can modify/create a ROM (that's ambitious, but not impossible).

Nice guide!
This will work with any phone.
You can easily create a flashable zip and share it for you fellow d856/857/858HK users.
Just take META-INF (updater-script) from robalm's zip, bump boot.img, substitute d855 images with 858 ones, and voila! You have a repacked 858 stock rom.

Well ETA stands for Estimated time of arrival not exact time of arrival so what you are asking for is an eta!! we would all love to get some info on the root for lollipop but keep it cool man. you dont have any developer here on your payroll so if they say don't bother them about ETAs then you better get a glass of tequila and chill out. and hope and pray for ETA. or better still swap your g3 for a nexus.
Root available for LL

Hi guys. Ive been reading a lot about this one. And i find it very imposible to do right now. I saw some thread here regarding to this one that im posting right now. So my main concern is is there a way to downgrade this kitkat into jellybean? Put aside note 3 for now. Does it work on other phones as well? Because i really dont like the new kitkat and i want to go back from 4.3. Yeah yeah i did some research regarding to this because of the new bootloader. I really hope that we can be able to downgrade.

No... Samsung give out updates, they don't expect you to downgrade.... Besides, the upgrades are supposed to add performance and remove security exploits.... Why would they allow you to go back to something that's not so well protected and possibly damage your device that then gets fixed under warranty....
Yes officially. You can't downgrade. But im asking is there a way or in the near future that we can go back to jellybean? Again lets put aside note 3 for now since it is still new. Lets think.... Note 2! For example i updated to 4.4.X as well. Can i go back to 4.2.1?
God almighty. .why would you want to. ..who wants to go backwords. ..If you do...why did you go forwards. .I loved the escort mark 2 but I sure as hell wouldn't swap my focus for one... (the only way this might not apply is with women lol)

NO, for the 10000000th time. Please learn to read before posting next time, thank you.
Mate for the 10000000th time, everyone read your question and is trying to explain that downgrading the software of a smartphone is stupid. Especially true for the Note 3, 4.3 to 4.4.
The only reason you might want to downgrade, is that you want to put CM on your device. In which case ask so. It is unlikely that you will be able to downgrade, more likely CM will get support for the new BL
Its a fair enough question to ask. I would also like a dafe way to downgrade to install things like CM. IMO its a control thing. One that I dont like. But it is what it is.

By the way. May it is possible. Not right atm but in near future. We have to get the correct fast boot access to unlock the bootloader. Then we have to flash a file called flashall. This file is already under construction by myself but it's tricky. After this file flashed successfully we are able to flash an original bootloader from former rom.
So u see its possible. Only have to wait for a dev or anybody else who can give me fast boot access.

Let's just be calm about this I agree we won't be seeing official downgranding but for one I would downgrade to 4.3. Android is all about choices and preferences that is one of the differences from ios we get to choose customize down to the bone...Why something older and propably not better some people have their reasons. Some people prefer that old chevy or challenger from a new mercedes I don't know. I for one miss lights effect from 4.3 the lockscreen effect. I was on stock rom unrooted and it had this effect then rooted upgraded to 4.4.2 poland and it didn't have it got a little disapointed. I agree that 4.4.2 is a better os and also agree that my reason for wanting to downgrade is somewhat stupid but that's the beauty of android from the start you get it exactly how you want it today in the world of android os we are made unable to downgrade tomorrow who knows? The liberty of choice in this os is getting smaller and smaller day by day...
Ok ok
Um
No
U
Can
Not
Do
It.
Y??
It's a permanent change to the bootloader that cannot be downgraded.
If that's hard to understand then I don't know what to tell you.

There are more reasons to downgrade. After upgrading to KitKat my phone is messed up bad. I got reboots all the time now. I never rooted, I never installed ROMS. All is plain stock. If someone would offer me a working downgrade I would even consider paying this person for it. My phone is unreliable right now.

Consensus seems to be that you can't downgrade the Samsung Note 3 kit kat bootloader, which prevents downgrade to Jelly bean .
On other makes, e.g HTC it is possible to downgrade bootloader and Android, providing you've got S Off

I believe OP didn't try to ask same question a millionth time. What he tried to ask was, will there be a method to downgrade to JB? If that's the case it's very unlikely. In theory of course software changes can be reversed but sometimes it needs some hacking and I don't think anyone will think it's worth the effort.

I think technically, we could see customized stock based ROMs. In fact, if you go to the download page for the pre-rooted firmware, there is a de-bloated version in there already. I think most people aren't super excited by that though. I'm happy to do my own stuff through GravityBox until AOSP is available.
What are you currently running and why?
I performed my first root a week ago and downgrading to kit Kat was awesome. I've tried Moar and optimal Roms for lollipop now and my battery still gets wrecked.
I do use my phone a lot, streaming audio and Web / forum use. However, even after debloating and greenifying all apps aside from streams, I still can't make it all on day on 100% battery.
Would swapping to a Kit Kat rom help? What do you suggest?
Examples of use: pandora, podcasts, netflix, HBO go, plex, tapatalk, etc. I keep 50% brightness all the time.
Any tips welcome!

edit: last night, I reflashed optimal based off oc4 lollipop 5.0, skipped wizard and ran the adb debloater. aside from that. calibrated my battery, running greenish on all apps except video and audio streams. I run minimal WiFi data Bluetooth and no location services with 50% brightness.
my battery life is still just OK.

You cannot flash CM12 on this phone, and I don't think you can flash custom kernels. This is because the Verizon Galaxy S5 has a locked bootloader. As you have already found, you can flash SOME custom Touchwiz ROMs but not many. As far as Kit Kat versus Lollipop, that is really a personal preference in terms of what features you are looking for in a ROM and OS version.

Hi everyone, I recently rooted my phone after becoming fed up with Motorola (my next phone will definitely be a OnePlus ) and I have now decided that I would like to install XPosed Framework. I really don't want to brick my phone, though I do have a backup, so I came here to ask anyway that has done this before. I am running Android Marshmallow 6.0 with the December security patch, by the way. So is there a way to install XPosed on the XT1575? If so please provide instructions (I already looked on XDA and could not find any helpful threads).
Thanks in advance,
Matt

Yes Xposed does work on the MXPE running 6.0 and the December update. I am running this myself. For full details on Xposed, the framework, Modules, and general information you need to go here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed. Everything you need to know should be there regarding installing and finding out about specific modules.
Be aware that we do not have the factory firmware image for the latest ROM version, if something goes wrong it is possible that you could brick the device.
In the next few months we will hopefully be getting Nougat, and Xposed does NOT work with Nougat as of this posting.
Hello everybody!
I'm in a trouble, installed xposed, but stuck on warning bootloader, i'm on january security patch, any idea what can be?

I would suggest that you download the Xposed uninstaller on your computer and push it to your phone, then flash that.
First make sure you put the uninstaller in the directory with adb and fastboot and connect your phone with a us cable.
Second boot into recovery mode on your phone
Third type into your computer's command prompt 'adb push (and then the name of the uninstaller) /'
Four go to the install section of twrp and navigate to the / directory.
Five select the file and flash it (make sure zip verification is unchecked)
If you have any problems please message me, I'll help you out.
Here's the link to the uninstaller you'll want to download: http://dl-xda.xposed.info/framework/uninstaller/xposed-uninstaller-20150831-arm64.zip
If this doesn't work send me a message, I can try and help you further.

I think we have firmly established that a) Xposed works on the MXPE and b) a bear does indeed sh*t in the woods.
Can we stop this now children? I know we don't have a "Off-topic thread" for this device, but I think this thread is had enough.

We really need an "Off-topic thread"... I remember back in my Rezound days, that thread was jumpin', and full of stuff like this, something like 25k posts in a single thread called HTC Rezound OFF-TOPIC THREAD
Otherwise, a little fun is fine... but lets not bog down a thread so that if someone has an issue later, they can't find the answer because off all the OT discussion.

OKAY so
I'm very late to the party, everyone is already settled in and or leaving.
I'm wondering about how is the ROM/Recovery/Kernel development going for this phone? Is it still going? do aspiring developers and geniuses still work on this device or have they already moved on? Do we have daily-driver worthy AOSP ROM? Does anyone still maintain a stock custom ROM?
Basically, i'm about to get a V20 to replace my Z5 and I want to know how fun this phone to satisfy my flashingitis

If you have looked in development section you will have noticed that the development for this phone is basically dead. It is a great device for a great price currently but most devs have moved on to the newer phones to work on.

Hopefully your device will come with an older security patch that will allow you to root. Shut off auto update in developer mode when you get it until your sure of what you've got. And don't install any system updates until also or you may lose the opportunity to root.

Yeah.. not much is happening, I saw unofficial lineageOS, weekly LineageOS, couple of Roms, Kernels and Recoveries
I honestly don't know how much development is "healthy", Manufacturers have released too many phones too quickly and devs switching to new devices.
I dont know anymore

They do for the unlocked US996, and the H918 can be unlocked with fastboot, but no flash command, so it is pretty useless. The H910 is the only carrier branded model that can still be rooted on the latest firmware version. Well, more to the point, it can be rolled back to a version that IS rootable because AT&T hasn't incremented ARB on it yet.

AH, so if i want to flash custom ROM on it, i will have to find US996 variant, or H910. Otherwise, not much we can do.
got it.
the official one released in my country, Indonesia, is the dual sim H990DS one, i should avoid that and find for second hand US996 variant instead.
yeah i was hoping root can be found for the H918 10q.. but it appears that may never happen..

I ALMOST pulled the trigger for H918, it works with my country's 4G band and it's cheaper than other models, comes with box. Glad I asked first
ON ANOTHER TOPIC, hey jaws, how's the LG Watch Urbane 2 with custom strap going?
Wait, remind me again. if H918 has no flash command on fastboot and can't be rooted, how is it possible that there's LineageOS for H918
All my knowledge is for verizon version, which didnt have an unlocked bootloader, but i rooted using dirty santa, was a pain but once i got root was all good. There is a stock flashable once rooted to answer ur 1st post, and kdz to stock phone files if you mess up dirty Santa like i did 1st time. All the stuff needed, stock boot.img's, custom/stock kernel variants, roms, etc is out there just gotta dig a bit. Is an excellent phone imo, especially if youre into high quality audio. Quad dac is a beast. A shame how little of support it got. It still compares to the new phones coming out now. Imo

I'm happy as long as i can get root, and flash different ROMs, I dont mind complicated method involving command lines. It reminds me of good ol' Desire HD days with S-OFF.
I guess development is not very lively but some people do work on interesting stuffs.
Good enough for me.
I guess this is one of the few phones the verizon version has a slight advantage. Almost all the KDZ files are available, and all downgradeable (for now). Personally I have bounced back and forth almost daily between full un-root, to root access, etc. Don't ask why, no idea.
Development is pretty minimal, which is a bit sad. But it seems to work great, rather than the ole days when development here on XDA basically was a must for a phone to function.
