Hey guys, i kinda felt bad for you guys, how you guys still don't have a true aosp build (minus the crappy froyo sdk which isn't built for any target). so i decided to make you guys a kernel that should work on your phones. i'm only gunna supply the zImage for you guys, if you want to know how i got the touchscreen to work, all i did was take the drivers/input/touchscreen/synaptics_i2c_rmi.c from cm-kernel and put it into my kernel source. well devs, have fun with this. you guys can now make a real cyanogenmod or aosp rom. This kernel is OC'd at 768 mhz. I'm only gunna supply the zImage, you devs make this work for your roms
Thanks Toastcfh for getting overclock to work on msm7k android devices

why would i need to re-release source for your kernel. does that make sense. all i did was edit two files in the source. those files are on toastcfh's github. i don't need to re-release the source. that would be a waste of time and effort. please, if you don't like me, just pm me and we'll settle things.
also, i'm pretty sure this works unless i forgot to recompile your source after i changed the file
has anyone else tried it besides the preteen who blatantly has some sort of bias against me?

O yea, I hear ya man if you need anything let me know.
I started a attempt at a port of this for the evo shift again for the second time awhile back and was able to get to the compiling of the framework where it crapped out on me again for the camera lol. Before that happened I was able to get passed some simple overlay issues with the device easily. It's just the framework that was was being a pain for the camera.
Hmm, this is great. Loved SalvageMod might have to give this a whirl. Thanks!

hello,
i posted it in the ICS update thread:
Hey, silly question, i know, think it would be asked many times.
i wanne opend a new thread at dev, but i cant't to less comments --_--
now, we know, we never get a 3.X kernel from moto, so, we must help us at our own, i asked me, how?
my idea was, what abei the LG P990, i heard, there are 3.x kernel, no officiel, i know.
What are the hardware differences at the LG and the atrix? fingerprint and camera, i know, but what about the rest?
it it identicly? is it possible, that we can work with it? at beginning, without camera and fingerprint?
perhaps we found an other device with an identicly camera and 3.x kernel, perhaps we can look in a direction like that? only moto bashing wont help anyway

i hope any dev get give informations to me?
the developers already know that moto left us behind..
they're talking about it and what they are going to do??..just the time will tell us...we have to wait hehe
I'm not a developer but sometimes i asked then about start the work from some other similar device's kernel (same that you're suggesting here)..they told that it's an idea but should be necessary a massive rewriting...so it's not easy and they will need time even if the device is similar..
thats the point, i think we don't have any other chance, similar devices kernel, or from scratch, the second is the option which needs more time, i think
i wanne call me a developer, nothing in comparsion with our big ones but i would like to help your devs and i think, i'm not the only one, but i don't know how - i know that is many work and needs massive rewriting, but it's our only option.
i only hope some devs would found together and can say, how we, the, i wanne call it "non-kernel-hackers" , can help.

So I think...in first time the problem on defy was the locked bootloader...but you get it work. Atrix has an unlocked bootloader..and we have Nvidia drivers...and I think there is a phone using the same tegra chip on a 2.x kernel...soooo its possible to make something?
If the answer is YES...and you know how to do it...maybe the atrix comunity can donate to you to buy an atrix...

Anyway, i think that our best chances is to raise a found, by donating, and offer it as a bounty for the first dev to create a 3.x kernel for our device. We might find someone that way. Create that kernel takes lots of time and skills. Very very few people are willing to invest all the time required for free.

I too have sent Hashcode a message asking for possible assistance. I told him we would be willing to donate to the cause.
If you can organise a decent fund/development device, I'd recommend contacting TripNRaVeR. He has experience porting the vanilla 3.1.10 Tegra kernel code to a new device (the One X, which shipped with 2.6.39) hence he's probably already halfway there with knowing where to go next. It looks like LG and Sammy have ditched DVFS in their 3.1.10 releases on the Galaxy R and O2X, which would be nice (using standard governors )
There are some really truly great devs in previous version of our beloved nexus devices, And would like to please ask DEVS! To put your HANDS UP if you are going to show your support & efforts in the HTC Nexus 9 :good:

I usually just port Custom Rom's to devices. Not really port I guess, just have to change the device tree. Do a little bit of kernel stuff to.
I don't consider myself a dev, but I will be getting one of these, once the "Sand" version is available.
I am wondering how much more difficult everything is going to be between Lollipop/SELinux and 64-bit capability.
This will be my first Nexus device as well - closest I've had up to now is running GPE on my M8.

I mean, what do you think the ROM consists of right now? What are you planning on doing once you figure out how to do a device bring up? FYI, device bring up guides can be easily found on this very website.
The ROM is stock right now. Without repo access what exactly is going to be Paranoid about it? What features do you think are in the current source?
There is basically nothing but aosp right now. I don't understand what you are wanting to actually do.

Well. You could try cherry picking old features out of github, on top of current source, but you will probably find a lot of problems and conflicts. Basically until there is a release, you won't know what features are being brought back, so essentially you could build any ROM you want now.

what you should have said is, Linux is my b*tch, i own smali and i will smoke any kind of framework that force closes on me because android is like my mind.
Taking a few classes means that we will see a new ROM on the HD2 before you finish.
No disrespect, but that task needs some talent mate, i don't pretend to have it but you need to be a hardcore android programmer to be able to even scratch the surface.
Let alone build and maintain a ROM.
